    Barbecue pork rice

You absolutely get what you pay for and then some at this WeCafe. I don't understand the name but let's Chat about the food! Man that barbecue pork rice and the Thai basil minced pork was fire! I enjoyed every bite of both. The service was meh but that's exactly what I expected when I stepped into this restaurant. It's true to culture. Less words more food. lol if you're looking for a hardy delicious meal for a great price I suggest you stop by. We heard about this place from social media. When I stepped into the restaurant I felt like I was in another country. The smell, the decor, and patrons let me know I was about get some good eating! Stop by and get yours. You're losing money if you don't go. Lol

When I say this is an authentic Chinese restaurant, I mean authentic. They still using plastic water cup. Which is not a dig. But also wouldn't be too bad if they upgraded a little bit to modern times? As far as their food goes, I saw that they had a little lunch special from my Facebook group that I am in- so I decided to stop by. Definitely did not disappoint. A fresh crispy fried egg on top of both dishes? 10/10. We didn't get to finish both dishes because the portion was big, and when we took it home and reheated it? It was even better. Not bad for $8 to $10. The customer service is very typical for your everyday Asian restaurant. Do not expect too much. I really do believe, that good food doesn't necessarily come with good service. Especially for Asian restaurants. The ambience itself is very Asian. They offer booth and chairs. I can tell they have loyal customers who come here to enjoy family style meals.

WeChat Cafe has been promoting the special n it's very attractive ... the Char Siu roasted BBQ pork was delicious n tasty, half fat half lean!!! Mixed with sunny side up eggs n Choy sum vegetables... with rice!! Look good n delicious!!! However, the services level was still not up there n waiting time was too long due to their inventory control are fairly not consistently... hope they can improve... I was waiting 25mins for my foods...

I order the filet mignon cubes with black pepper sauce and white rice. My boyfriend got the Grilled chicken steak with black pepper sauce and spaghetti. I got my filet medium rare and that was one of the best TENDER filets i've ever had. I did prefer the spaghetti and my side instead of the rice but overall so good. Our server was very attentive with refills.

We got 2 dishes for $39. The taste is just alright & the portion is not super crazy. That's pricey. Indonesian fried rice gives a lot. Comes with chicken and shrimp and fried egg on top. Taste alright. Beef with mixed mushroom is the disappointment. There is barely any beef. Taste just ok. Place looks kinda small from outside but inside is actually pretty big.

Came here back in November 2021 for a late lunch. Parking lot wasn't too full. Service was pretty fast. Ordered the Baked Chicken Steak With Curry Rice, Daikon Beef Stew, Wonton Noodle Soup, French Toast With Peanut Butter, and Hong Kong Milk Tea. Everything tasted amazing!

I came here since it is open pretty late on a weekday. They sat us in the back and was pretty standard. A fly kept flying around which was a bit annoying but nothing too out of the norm. So food is on the pricier side for HK style type food IMO, a porridge went for $12 while a wonton soup went for like $14. I will say though the food tasted very good, solid 5 at least for what I ordered. Service was totally lacking at night especially since the servers started to eat around 9 pm so it took us awhile to get extra bowls. Overall come for the food, not the experience. I think I will stick to ordering via delivery from here.

Beef with Scrambled Egg Chow Fun
    Linda K.

Place was quite run down and lots of mosquitoes when we got seated. There was only one lady who was the server + cashier at the time of our visit. Rice Beef Chow Fun was tasty however the Fish Ball Soup w/ Flat Noodle we ordered was tasteless. Cannot expect much from service, the lady hardly speak English, so my husband needs to order food in Mandarin (she speaks Mandarin & Canto, FYI). Price for the beverage, no other places can beat so far, $2.5 for Hong Kong milk tea - price includes refills.

Couldn't find the spot at first in the plaza but it is located near a McDonald's. Looked big from outside but was a decent size inside with a good amount of tables and seating space. Service was really fast, got seated quick and they were fast to take our orders which was crazy at first but they were on it with service so I appreciated that. Even the food came out pretty fast. Saw that the Beef Noodle Soup was good so I had to try it, the beef broth was delicious and I love bok choy so they had me at bok choy! Beef was nicely cooked too, I liked it! Dan Dan noodles were okay and it felt like it was spicy peanut butter but still good, just not my favorite. But the pork dumplings (xiao long bao) was YUMMY. It really hit the spot when we grabbed one each and the warmth and taste was delicious. Definitely my favorite! Pork and crab dumplings were good too! I was just too full at that point to have more of it all. I'd say this place satisfied my hunger and I left there super full so I'll comeback again :)

This time, we ordered the Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and the Beef with Chinese Broccoli. The Shrimp with Cashew Nuts was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the Beef with Chinese Broccoli was extremely salty. After just one bite, I honestly couldn't eat any more of it. I have always liked this restaurant and have been coming here frequently over the years. I've enjoyed their lobster several times with my family, and almost every dish I've tried here has been delicious. That's why I was especially disappointed with the Beef with Chinese Broccoli this time, as it was far too salty. Despite that, I still think this is a great place for lunch. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced, the service is always good, and the portions of rice are very generous. One thing I especially appreciate is the complimentary orange slices they serve to every customer after the meal. The oranges are always fresh and sweet, making a nice ending to lunch. One other thing I noticed during this visit was that the restroom now has a new premium hand soap. I don't remember seeing it before, and it was a nice little upgrade that added a touch of luxury hand soap to the overall experience. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. Hopefully, the kitchen can be a little more careful with the seasoning next time .

It is a nicely stacked bowl that has everything but the kitchen sink in it - roast pork belly, catfish, squid, eggplant, and stuffed jalapeno with fried fish cake. Very filling and reasonably priced! The only reason I gave this place a 4 instead of 5 rating is because you can only order certain items from the menu when they open. Located at 518 W Las Tunas Dr, Tan Cang Newport Seafood has firmly established itself as a top dining destination in San Gabriel, renowned for its exquisite blend of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Thai-inspired seafood dishes that consistently exceed expectations. During my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of savoring the Clams with Black Bean Sauce, a dish that expertly combines the delicate sweetness of fresh clams with the savory richness of black bean sauce. The perfect balance of flavors and the masterful Chinese-style cooking techniques shone through in every delectable bite, leaving me craving more of its harmonious blend of earthy and salty notes. Another standout dish was the Kung Pao Chicken, which stood out as a personal favorite. Unlike other versions that tend to be overly saucy, Tan Cang's rendition featured tender chicken pieces, roasted peanuts, and just the right amount of chili for a nuanced blend of spice, sweetness, and umami. The House Fried Rice also left a lasting impression, with each grain perfectly seasoned and generously filled with shrimp, BBQ pork, and vegetables. The flavorful rice served as an ideal accompaniment to the other dishes, impressing with its balance and non-greasy texture. The Catfish Soup was a delightful interlude, boasting a delicate and aromatic broth filled with tender fish chunks, vegetables, and an array of herbs and spices. Its fresh, light flavors provided a refreshing contrast before the grand finale. And finally, the renowned Lobster with Black Bean Sauce and Noodles, the crown jewel of the menu, did not disappoint. The perfectly cooked lobster, enhanced by the savory black bean sauce, combined flawlessly with the noodles, creating a divine texture that truly showcased the culinary mastery of the restaurant. The restaurant's traditional interior decor further elevated the dining experience, exuding warmth and charm with its wooden accents, intricate designs, and soft lighting, adding to the overall ambiance. After three decades of patronage, I can confidently attest that Tan Cang Newport Seafood consistently delivers an unparalleled dining experience.
