    House Special Beef Noodle Soup
    Rachel W.

The beef bone soup base of the noodles was clear yet very flavourful. The noodles were springy and the toppings were generous as well. The star of the show was actually their shacha sauce from the self-serve sauce bar. It was one of the best shacha sauce I've had and tasted amazing when added to the noodles. I also liked the other sauces that they had, such as chilli soy sauce and red vinegar. The milk custard was a bit disappointing as the milk flavour was very mild. Service was fairly fast even though the restaurant was very busy and cramped.

It was my first time at Chao Wei Ju and most likely the last time... I'll start with the positive notes: the beef skewers (not pictured) were really good, likewise the beef fried rice was yummy too. Next, the fried tofu is pretty dry, but the fish balls were alright. There was plenty of seating, both booths and tables. During the lunch hour, the line was getting pretty long but my family was already seated. Here comes the not so great part. The service was uncomfortable and awkward. Once the bill came, my dad was ready to pay with card. Mind you, there's even signage that says they accept card payments. However, the server told us that their wifi is down so they cannot accept card payments at this time. That could've been communicated to us before we sat down and ordered. We would've gone elsewhere since we didn't have cash. My dad was going to head to the bank while we sat and waited for him to come back, but then the manager said that she can take Zelle. My parents don't use Zelle, but luckily I do. Once that was covered, the manager approached me for not tipping. For one thing, I didn't have cash. For another, the service we were provided did not earn a tip.

There was a long wait but there's lots of tables inside. The staff only speaks Chinese so it can be difficult if no one in your party speaks it. They have a small parking lot in the back. The tea cups are super small, they're like shot glasses lol. The beef noodle soup was good and the hot pot was good.

I ordered A2 beef noodle soup and the beef wasn't as tender as I would like. The soup tasted very clean and light. The noodles were silky smooth. They have these cute tea pots and cups if you order tea! They have a sauce bar so you can make your own sauce. The interior is very clean and it's a comfortable place to dine in. The food came out fast which is a plus!

We kept passing by this restaurant and been wanting to try it out since they remodeled it from a Vietnamese restaurant to a Chinese noodles restaurant. It wasn't too busy when we arrived. We ordered the A10 Beef Tripes Noodles Soup, A1 House Special Beef Noodles Soup, & A4 Fresh Cut Wagyu Beef Noodles Soup for entrees. Ordered the B1 Oyster Pancake and C2 Fried Beef Cube Skewers for appetizers. Got the D11 Double Layer Milk Custard for dessert. It came with complimentary Kung fu tea in these small tea cups and tiny tea pots. Everything tasted great, especially the oyster pancake that has fish sauce to dip it with. The broth was flavorful and not too oily. They have a sauce station where you can choose from satay, sacha, garlic, and other sauces, onions, scallions, etc. Good and quick service. Limited parking in their small lot and limited spaces on the street. We will definitely come back to try their other menu items.

Beef Rib and Fresh Beef Slice Noodles

The noodles were bouncy and the beef slices felt very fresh like it was cooked just right using the hot broth. The broth itself was light but very flavorful, adding a bit of the garlic sauce, chili sauce, some chacha sauce for the nutty flavor and it's perfection. While the ribs were not fall-off-the-bone tender like many expected, they were all pretty soft and flavorful, probably had been simmered in the broth for quite some time. And for all dine-in customers, everyone would receive a complimentary hot tea in a cute pot-and-cup set

Affordable prices and quick service, but it felt rushed, resulting in the meat not being stewed long enough and being a bit tough - a bit disappointing. If you're not sure what to order, go for the House Special Beef Noodle Soup. I thought the Shacha Sauce Beef Ribs were the best dish of all. Unfortunately, they weren't stewed long enough, and the meat was tough to get off the bone. The Fried Beef Cube Skewers were a bit tough; they would have been better if cooked a bit longer. The Special Chaozhou Platters, featuring fish cake, tempura, and fried tofu, were decent but not exceptional. The Hometown Fried Tofu was alright, but honestly, the ones I've had at Japanese restaurants are far superior. The oyster pancake was a little dry; it would have been better with a bit more moisture. It seems that people in Chaozhou really like drinking kung fu tea in tiny cups.

I'm extremely disappointed with the service. Constantly rushing customers and repeatedly asking for payment is rude. You can't expect all your customers to finish their meals quickly, some people like to take their time. Also, prioritizing table turnover over customer experience is not a great approach

A11 beef rib noodle soup, A1 noodle soup, and beef offal with radish

4.5/5 Beef rib rice noodles ($15.98) here are a must try!! Chao wei ju is 潮汕 (Chao shan) food, which focuses on freshness, and you can taste here in the hot piping broth and fresh cut beef! They also serve complimentary tea if you're dining in. I always get the beef rib noodle soup because the ribs here are marinated and cooked in their house made satay (shacha) sauce. The noodles here are a soft, slightly wide rice noodle. (Just fyi if you're thinking of the round rice noodles.) There's a condiments station where you can get that housemade shacha sauce, garlic and chili sauce (also made in house) along with green onions and cilantro to compliment your dishes. They even sell the sauces in jars if you want to bring some home! The marinated white radish and beef tripes ($9.98) are also very flavorful. The raddish had soaked up all the meat flavors. I do wish the bowl for this item was bigger... In general, the appetizers can be smaller portion and some, like the oyster pancake (not a lot of oysters), doesn't do well in terms of value + taste. So it can be trial and error here. Nonetheless, this is a great place to dine in with the complementary tea, condiments bar with house made sauces, and to just enjoy the food, especially noodles, as soon as possible.

I've been to many restaurants with various personalities from waitresses but this one is by far the worst!! Our waitress rushed us to order even though half of the party wasn't ready. I told her to just put in the current order and we'll finish the rest later since half of us were still deciding. She kept insisting and gave side eyes though I repeatedly told her we didn't mind the wait if it came to it later on. Instead, she went to the other side of the table and consistently urged the other half to hurry up to choose. I found that very upsetting and definitely irritated my family and me because why was she in such a rude rush? It was even worse when she started cleaning our table when we weren't even done with our food. It really made it seem like she wanted us out of there. There were plenty of empty tables around the restaurant and mind you, there was no line!! So I genuinely don't understand why she specifically targeted our group and lacked patience! Regarding our food, it was decent (6.5/10). Their noodle soup tastes like a nice homemade meal and their house-made chili garlic oil definitely gives it a nice kick. ***I do want to highlight that their item A1 looks absolutely nothing like what they served us when compared to the menu.*** I grabbed a menu so that I could ask someone (not our waitress) if that was the same item (she said yes it's the same). I still wanted to look at the menu but our waitress reached to my thigh to attempt to take it away. I held on to it and told her I was still looking. Honestly so crazy to me that she even begun to take it in the first place when it was still on my lap!! All in all, this place has decent food but that worker definitely needs to work on her patience and customer service skills. I didn't get her name but she has reddish hair that went above her shoulders. I get that the excuse would be "It's an Asian restaurant, that's how you know food is good" but dang, this isn't even defendable imo. There's a complete contrast between that saying and whatever she was doing to us.

    Trying out a new place
    Wendie G.

First time trying out this place even though it has been around for a quite a few years. It's a clean and spacious environment. Parking spaces are very limited (way not enough comparing to the restaurant capacity). The noodle soups were great and they are so far the closest to the authentic chao zhou soup taste in town. However, skip the Special Chaozhou Platters. None in plate is a Chaozhou item and it is way over priced. This is an extreme disappointment. Service part got very interesting. The ladies were nice first, but we were rushed with the check when we were not even done with eating. Then the lady started cleaning our table while I was still eating my noodle. Our entire dining time from entering the door to them giving us the check was less than 20 mins. What is the rush?! I had to "inhale" my food when dining in your restaurant?! I got pretty upset and did not finish my food then left. Restaurant with near authentic taste is not easy to find, but if the restaurant cannot hire people who have the proper serving etiquette, then you will lose customers gradually.

(4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. The shrimp in the honey walnut dish were large prawns. They were moist, succulent and tender. It had a rich flavor because of the mayo. The chow mein was full of chicken, shrimp, squid and octopus. It was perfectly crispy and saucy at the same time. We ate to our heart's content and ended up taking home plenty of leftovers enough for another meal. Our total bill was a little over $108 with tip. We will definitely be back. Parking is valet only and cost is $5.

Porkchop & Egg Pineapple Bun with Dried Scallop Congee ($13.99) and I opted for the Iced Lemon Tea ($1 cold drink upgrade). What a deal!! I also added a side order of the Fried Dough Stick ($3.50) or also known as the crueler or Chinese donut since I like to have it with my congee. It wasn't needed from a portion perspective but I just like it. The food came out quickly, the congee first and then the fried dough stick and porkchop & egg pineapple bun. What a feast! The ladies at the lady next to me were so excited at my spread they asked me what I got. They thought I was really pro but it was actually just my first visit. Inside the pineapple bun there was a fried egg, porkchop, tomato, lettuce, and sauce. It was a huge sandwich. This is one of the bigger pineapple buns I see and it was well stuffed. The amount of food I ordered was enough to feed 2 people. The congee was really subtle. I didn't get the fried scallop that is in the name... I would just perceive it as a plain congee. The fried dough stick was oily and didn't taste too fresh. I probably won't order it next time. Nevertheless a still overall fabulous meal. My tea was refilled before I had the chance to ask. When I asked for the check, they knew to bring me togo containers without me having to ask too. Very smart service! I had a great meal here and I will definitely come back if I wake up early enough to come at opening.

We came…read morearound 6:30pm on a weekday for dinner and they were pretty busy and parking lot was quite full, but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table and still found parking. They have a lot of tables inside so it is great for small and large groups. The waiters were also fast even though they were busy. We ordered their Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Tofu, Beef Noodle, Shrimp w Walnut, and Vegetable w Garlic. We decided not to get lobster since it was pricey. They took our order pretty fast and gave tea to drink. The pot of white rice is extra $1 if you order though. And their menu book doesn't have prices for some reason. Only the to-go menu has prices. Food was served in a decent amount of time, around 15 minutes. And all dishes arrived close together so we didn't have to wait long. The kung pao chicken is so good! Not spicy at all and very nice and crispy with good seasoning. It tasted delicious with some rice. The beef noodles were also delicious! It had good wok taste and was very flavorful. The tofu and shrimp were also good. None of the dishes were too salty and all were seasoned well and in pretty big portions, though I don't remember the exact price since they took the receipt away when we paid. But the meal was very worth and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Such a yummy meal! I really enjoyed it! I am definitely coming back again!

Boston Lobster is officially my go-to location for any|all Asian lobster cravings!! Newport…read morewho?????!!! My family and I used to religiously eat lobster noodles whenever we made a trip down to SoCal. The pick of the bunch was 100% Newport Seafood- no negotiations, no contemplations. Unfortunately, the last handful of times have left me extremely disappointed and heavily annoyed. The cost and wait times do not reflect what is actually being provided and most of our food ends up being left behind because it simply isn't worth the calories. In all honestly, I've grown a phobia w/ that specific restaurant at this point because of the countless letdowns. My initial taste of Boston Lobster was about 3 years ago and I had the most enjoyable meal. Due to our LA trip coming to an end, my BD thought we should do it big with some lobster noodles- for good old time's sake. I absolutely refused to go anywhere unless we would be giving Boston Lobster a visit! Sure enough, they did not disappoint! Dinner for 3 adults and 1 toddler consisted of: *Boston House Special Lobster [no spice] + Garlic Noodles for an additional fee. Medium Size 5-6lbs minimally. *French Style Beef Cube *Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves We ate like mf'n KINGS!! Each and every dish was spectacular- even the greens! While we should have gone with the small sized lobster, I'm proud to say we went down with an honorable fight. Lmao!! The lobster was cooked to perfection- meat was sweet, succulent, and so darn tender. The garlic noodles soaked up all of the delicious lobster flavors and were not overcooked and mush. The bo luc lac was flavorful, juicy, and complimented the bed of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes so well. The snow pea leaves weren't tough and old- this truly was a simply yet magical dish. Service was on point and the staff continually came by to swap out our plates full of lobster shells. Above all, there was no wait with our initial arrival. Parking is easy given the fact that BL has a pretty big parking lot specifically for them. 5/5 stars!! We dropped over 3 bills here and it didn't even hurt. Lmao- this place is that damn good! Don't sleep on this joint, y'all. Boston Lobster is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. This spot should be so much more hyped than it actually is!
