So i bought a car from this dealer and two week later there telling me that there still waiting for some parts. never took it for a test drive or even got into the car and its having lots of problems. Had a good experience here, I was in the market for a new truck and had a hard time doing all the research on my own to figure which sort of make model and configuration would suit my needs...and the team at Wellesley Toyota was very helpful in finding the right truck! After understanding what I was looking for in a vehicle they were able to pull together, even with inventory shortages, a few great used trucks and a few new trucks for me to check out and test drive. Especially pleased to receive prompt notification when new truck came in so I could get right over to see them and have first crack at things. Ended up getting a 2021 Toyota Tacoma with truck cap, 6 ft bed, cab, sunroof and heated seats! Very nice truck! and its RED! The last time I visited during the winter one of the services sales managers came by and gave me a report and told me I should get new tires immediately. He sounded so urgent, I didn't really notice any issues and it was only around 25k. Some of my friends had popped their original factory tires or had to replace the set so I thought it wasn't too out of the ordinary. I didn't want to make a decision on the spot so I asked for a second opinion. Thankfully I didn't rush ahead since another 2 years later at 40k+ miles my tires are still alright. They still passed the yearly MA inspection. I booked my appointment as usual online for the 40k service and tacked on a State Inspection Sticker. I didn't want to face the delays from other customers so I chose the 7AM slot. It took 10 minutes in total for the other cars in front of me and their staff to open their doors and grab the mileage info. I walked in the door to consult the sales manager. I didn't pick a specific one online since I wanted to get in and out ASAP. This guy revealed that the Watertown service center skipped the 35k and jumped straight to 40k. Annoying... alright they will just go back to 35k. Still sleepy, I nodded and walked to the waiting room area as I witnessed another couple arguing with someone else about the additional cost for a rental car. They have a main seating area with blaring TVs and 2 smaller rooms: one for children with some toys and a quiet room. I usually sit in the quiet room, but there weren't too many people so I sat in the main area. I attempted to do some work since they offer free wifi while sipping on some boiling hot tea. Unfortunately my assigned sales manager interrupted me at around the 45 minute mark to tell me that my car was not going to pass their inspection. I ask why. Then he goes on his spiel about how my windshield wipers are streaky. I thought back to the mist/rain weather this morning that seemed cleared fine by my windshield wipers? I allowed him to proceed. He said that because I did not have factory wipers anymore, it costs $76 for the full replacement. However, each time afterwards it would only be $9 for the rubber insert refills. I have no idea what I was thinking, but I agreed to continue with this. I was thinking of my time and the inconvenience of taking my car to another location for an inspection. Immediately after he left, my head filled with self doubt and anger. I noticed that like clockwork each of the sales managers approached the customers publicly in the waiting room to inform them of some issues with their car and associated cost. I consulted some of my friends and confirmed that this was a complete scam! I had replaced my own wipers before for $30 at Sunoco Gas station, who have their own issues. Then again purchased $15 wipers from Target. I grabbed my stuff to speak with them again to inquire if there were lower cost options available. They did not offer the "Sightline one-piece blades/inserts for $20".There were none. I requested that they cancel the inspection. He responded visibly annoyed, "Well I have to call down to them and see if they have even started. They're going to have to fetch your old wipers out of the trash and put it back on." Oh woes me. I'm so relieved I stood up for myself, despite the level of awkwardness. I brought my car a few days later to the iconic Shell gas station on Memorial Dr. thanks to Yelp reviews. My car passed no issues! I did order a replacement rear wiper blade for my car (by my own volition) for less than $10 online! I looked up a YouTube video and replaced it myself in less than 5 minutes. So easy, even for me! Plot somewhat thickens... I get an automated email and text survey. I respond. I appreciate that someone did reply back, but as you can tell from the tenor of the messages, there was not much they could do for me at this point. They wanted me to drag my car back to Wellesley when my commute is in the opposite direction riddled with traffic to personally inspect the wiper(s). Not convenient at all. I might still have a couple more interval services? If so I will finish it off then I'm done with dealerships if avoidable altogether. Way too much hassle looking over my shoulder. read more

Future customers, please be attentive and aware of Wellesley Toyota service department practices. I was nearly duked! My first experience of Wellesley Toyota I thought was positive. I came to them three weeks ago to check on a leak from my moonroof. I was told it was fix, I needed to have the leaves removed and tubing cleared out in roof area. They charged me around $120. My second experience was not good. One week later, I returned after a day of rain because water still entered my car through my moonroof. Wellesley Toyota told me I needed to have my moonroof gasket replaced and the estimated cost would start at $3000 and they will only be able to inform me the final cost once they complete the repair. What??? I was shocked by the open-ended pricing and how this issues was not identified a week before when I first come in with the concern. Wellesley Toyota told me that the rubber around my moonroof was torn. How do you miss this in first service visit? I complained to the manager about the massive oversight and questioned if they tore the rubber during my second visit. I was so upset with the outrageous cost and the oversight of issue. I told them I would not have the repair done there. I did not think they would do a quality repair if they missed this issue in first visit. If this would have been identified in first visit, I would have trusted them. However, I am thankful because they would have cheated me out of a lot of money. I went to Watertown Toyota for an estimate for my sunroof repair. They gave me quote of $500 and to have my wet carpet cleaned $249 a premium detailing. My total cost was $750 not over starting price $3000 quoted by Wellesley Toyota. I was so disturbed by this experience, I wrote letters to Toyota Corporate. Wellesley Toyota pricing was so outrageous. I will never return to this service department. The people smile and seem very nice; however, the overpricing is insulting and distasteful. If you have money to waste choose Wellesley Toyota, they will be happy to cheat you. read more

Purchased my new 2021 Toyota Venza from Wellesley Toyota at the end of September and felt the process was extremely smooth due to awesome work of sales rep Marcus Mason. I came in knowing the exact vehicle I wanted to test drive. Marcus was quick to get me in to do this while taking all safety precautions beforehand. Trade-in of my car was a breeze. Due to limited availability of the trim I specifically wanted, Marcus was able to locate the vehicle I was looking for in one of my top colors choices and have it brought in in about 4-5 days. Marcus continuously kept me updated and answered any questions I had. I gave 4 stars only as I hoped there was was more research done with financing to locate me a slightly better financing rate. We chose this dealership because they had nearly the exact car we wanted, so that's a plus. But they didn't have another Toyota (w/ specific trim) we were considering so we still had to visit another dealership. This is 100% related to COVID, so I don't think any dealership would get an A right now. Facility: A-. Clean and professional. The minus is because on one of our visits, it smelled like gasoline inside. Buying experience: A-. The finance guy was quite pleasant and knowledgable. Again, tough to get an A because dealership business models involve selling the nice-to-haves. They will push you on an extended warranty, so do your research before you're ready to buy. Time / duration: A. All of our visits were faster than expected. The day we bought the car, we were only there an hour! Overall: A-. I'm sure they'd get an A if it weren't for COVID. This is a sales review: We test drove on Tuesday and felt that proper precautions were taken to address the pandemic. Alens was very responsive and worked with us to find a deal suitable for our budget over the next couple of days. By Friday, we decided to close the deal and Alens addressed our final concerns that we had come across in our research. The finance discussion was fine, just be sure to know the numbers and extra maintenance packages you want ahead of time as things can get confusing (not something specific to Wellesley). The total trade-in and buying process was a bit lengthy clocking in at 4 hours all in - not terrible. I was sooooo disappointed recently in the service I received @ Toyota of Wellesley. I had brought my car in for annual checkup and to check problems I was having with my speaker and sunroof. First and foremost, the service people were not friendly.. and one remarked to me after my commenting to him, "Wow, you have been here for quite some time". His response was, "Yeah, way too long as far as I am concerned!" The cashier was too busy eating her lunch to explain what I needed to do with the form that was on her desk. It seemed I was interrupting her. I also had asked to have to have my sunroof looked at because it did not open/close in the warm weather. They sprayed oil in it and by the time I got home, the sunroof no longer work. Lastly, when I queried about the speakers not working in my car for my phone, I was told "Probably the front speakers, but we have to pull the door apart to diagnose and that will be an extra $150. Once we know, we may not be able to repair it today because we may not have the parts." Upon asking what this could cost, I was quoted somewhere between $1500 and $2K. I left very disenchanted. Furthermore, Toyota does not go the extra mile to give its customers great service like a car wash coupon, as Subaru in Natick does. Nor would they blow debris and dirt off my engine, when asked if that could be done while the hood was opened. In the end, I went to Mega-Watt in Malborough and had my speaker problems diagnosed and repaired in under 2 hours for $316.00. NOT the possible $2K Toyota quoted me. I would like to purchase a new Toyota again, as I have loved my car... but if this is the direction Toyota service is going, I am going to go elsewhere to purchase my next car. Also, I would never recommend this dealership to anyone!! They need better customer service training and providing their staff with a dose or two of prozac to cheer them up!!! read more

I've been going to this Toyota dealer to do the service on my Corolla since 2012. Normally they are ok, my only complaint is they consistently overfill the tire pressure by 5-10 psi each time (and it's easy enough to just bleed some air out yourself). However, things started to go downhill on my last appointment a few months ago, when they did the Takata airbag recall. They replaced the airbag but scuffed up the interior of the windshield really badly. I only noticed it after driving away from the dealership when the oncoming headlights made it really visible. I had to spend about 20 minutes buffing the windshield to get the scuff marks off. Luckily they came out but it's not something I should have had to do. Oh well, I figured I'd give them a pass and it would be a one-off thing. Then a few months later I came in for a 6 month service and an inspection. Everything went fine, but driving away from the dealership I noticed new scratch marks on the outside corner of the windshield. I pulled over and tried to buff them out, but the marks were quite deep scratches. I drove back to the dealership and spoke with the service agent, but he refused to take responsibility. He suggested that I had made the marks myself and was polite, but not receptive to my concerns. I know that the scratches were not there that morning, but I recognize that this type of thing is impossible to prove one way or the other. However, I would have appreciated more of an effort on the agent's part to resolve the problem. I will most likely be going to a different Toyota dealer for service in the future. read more

They quoted me $85 to change out a differential vent which is a small screw in plug on top of the rear diff. The part cost me 7 dollars from Boch Toyota online parts an literally is a 5 minutes job to take the old one off an put the new one on. This was part of an estimate to do my brakes and replace the car battery. I bought my truck there and used to have it serviced there. Bought a new car there last month. I have never been treated so rudely by any vendor before, which is why the two stars despite a good deal and a great salesman. But when it came time to take my check they made me wait over an hour for a "finance person" to take my check, despite my not financing anything. And when I complained, he snatched up the paperwork and stormed off, shouting "then you can wait longer". I had to charge into the showroom and start shouting before a manager finally agreed to let the salesman take my check! This was the second new car I have bought from Wellesley Toyota. I called this dealership looking for a new car and was told over the phone to come in person and order it. You know, supply chain issues and things, new car takes months to get delivered. So I did. I guess i ran into a different person. When I presented him with my configuration, he immediately went to "talk to the manager". Upon return, the sales guy informed me that I cannot order new car with the packages I want because "it's not possible". When I presented him with print out from Toyota.com, he looked me straight in the eye and told me that my information is outdated. It's a complete BS. It appears that Wellesley Toyota sales personnel is stuck in the past. I would recommend avoiding them at all costs. Through the program, we were referred to an authorized dealer. The sales consultant Victor Olivares at Wellesley Toyota contacted us promptly. He did not waste our time. The car was ready for a test drive when we arrived. Victor delivered us the best available pricing within minutes of sitting with him. Since we continued to shop around, to compare deals and to search of the same vehicle in a preferable color, we noted how differently, other dealerships conducted business. We ultimately chose to purchase the vehicle we test drove at Wellesley Toyota. The sales experience was expedient and pleasant. The financing was time-consuming, but no more than usual. Within days after the purchase, I noticed a couple of things that might require service attention. I called Victor and he instructed me to bring in the car for the service department to examine. Service experience was positive; issue was explained; the repair was made and the problem has not reoccurred. This is the place I come for routine service and any and all car issues. The staff are extremely professional, friendly, and competent. They don't overcharge you for things and often do things to help you save money. Case in point: my car started having rather loud clunking noises that seemed to be coming from near the engine. My advisor (Matt) immediately identified the problem as an issue with a loose heat shield and it was removed within the hour for just a little over sixty dollars. He also explained the problem in good technical detail, which was great. On another occasion, the refueling door got jammed and they helped me unstick it for free! The waiting room is large and comfortable, although the TV is usually tuned to an annoying channel with either telemarketers or celebrity news. Animal Planet would really hit the spot, but alas, we can't always have nice things. Small nit though. This is one of the best dealerships I've had the pleasure of frequenting. Wellesley Toyota's response was so outrageous that I could not let it go. I thought I would call out some of the errors. WT, what a great effort to obfuscate the facts and insert a series of miss-truths in an effort to sway reader opinion. If we stick to the core issue, my A/C worked when you got the truck and didn't work upon completion of the warranty work, which happened to include disconnecting and reconnecting the A/C. Perhaps you didn't check your work thoroughly, or you likely would have noticed a slow leak at the time of completion. A slow leak takes time to manifest, and to claim the vehicle worked and then spontaneously broke sometime after it left your property, doesn't reflect the reality of what a leak in an A/C system is. WT says - "...pointed out these deteriorating parts to you (rusting a/c compressor and lines) and..." Ughhh NO. Compressor and A/C lines were not ever discussed or pointed out as potentially problematic. Given that all your recommendations for deteriorating parts were replaced, but not this line, and that A/C isn't on any of the informal prices you quoted me, I call BS. WT says - "...we then paused your repairs for multiple days" An approximately 2 week repair was delayed 24 hours by my sourcing parts. Did you have them all in stock, or might a similar 24 hour or longer delay have occurred? WT says - "...the rust that caused the Freon leak (and lack of cool air) is typical based on the age of your vehicle" If it was typical it would have been on the ancillary parts list. If it was typical it would be discussed in the online forums that discuss the frame warranty work. If it was typical you would have suggested I get ahead of it. And that the leak is at the fitting you disassembled to perform the frame swap is just coincidence? WT says - "The a/c system was operating as designed after completion of all repairs." It was blowing cold air, but it was also leaking, thus NOT operating as designed. How much time did you test under vacuum? WT says - "A few weeks later..." 11 days, during which I had thought the system was cooling poorly, but it took that long for enough freon to leak out to cause it to totally stop working. A slow leak is a slow leak. Please don't act like this was weeks and miles later. The truck barely had more mileage than from your dealership to my house and back. WT says - "...and we installed leak detection dye at no charge to you ($260 value)" If you had done a sufficiently long leak down test upon reassembly you likely would have noticed this in the first place. WT says - "...which meant that the parts had indeed stopped working due to age and rust." Or that a particle of dirt was on the o-ring seal, or that you forgot to install a new seal, or that the new seal was defective. Note that the part is aluminum, it doesn't rust. It does pit, but pitting as long as it isn't in the area of the seal doesn't matter. And pitting at the seal surface area itself is rare because it is not exposed to the environment. You would not be able to tell definitively without taking it back apart, which I don't believe you have. WT says - " The repairs needed for your a/c system were imminent and had nothing to do with the frame replacement work" I could not disagree more. The repair was not imminent, the failure was due to the part being disassembled. As previously noted, the failure was at the exact point where you worked on it. This is not a coincidental failure, and nothing suggests otherwise. WT says - "...which I believe was suggested by one of our team members. Toyota then contacted us for review. We informed Toyota of our findings" Actually I asked for this information because your team members said in effect, pay up, or no A/C. As I said in my original note, "the dealership did not appear to take any fight to corporate on my behalf." You should have been on my side of this asking Toyota corporate to fix this. WT says - "....it is certainly well within reason that we might encounter deteriorating parts that had nothing to do with the frame replacement." I agree, as does Toyota, thus the list of ancillary parts that are likely to be so corroded that they can't be re-used. Your claim in all this is that the A/C line was so corroded that it could not be re-used. But you failed to argue that on my behalf with Toyota. If only you had put as much effort into hounding Toyota corporate about this as you did in trying to defend online your actions, we probably would not be here.
