Got into an accident and was recommended this shop by the tow truck driver, but had heard great things from a couple aquaintances a while back so decided to give them a try. They were all very helpful and confirmed they worked with my insurance and got the process started on getting everything handled the second they got the call. They have let me know everything going on through the process, including delays for part procurement through the insurance and repeatedly helped me with loaners at minimal cost. They fought hard for the insurance to use proper and new parts and honestly got my car treated, handled, and fixed one of the best jobs I've had repair work done. read more

My car had been towed to this establishment, due to a mechanical issue. The gentleman Jeff who happened to be there for a similar reason, did a great service, and took me home to Korea town out of the kindness of his heart. I followed up the next day, because it was a sunday, and I spoke to another gentleman. Jax, I believe his name was. Wasn't very friendly, and as soon as he realized I wouldn't be getting work done, he turned very mean. Kept over talking me, as well as making me feel I needed to rush to get my car off of "their property". The quote they gave me for a starter was unreasonable, and didn't feel like they really cared. As a repeat customer, I feel compelled to write another review. I purchased a 2003 silver convertible Mercedes from Armik about 16 months ago and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, driving one evening in Fountain Valley, I was the victim of a hit and run which left my car " totaled". I was 100 % OK, but my car, was not. In fact, I did not show the car to my kids, ages 9 and 10, because I think they would have freaked out . This auto shop has amazing reviews so I wasn't hesitant to check it out during my car search. Upon first arriving I already started to question the shop. All the cars are packed like sardines in a garage, you can hardly navigate around. When beginning to ask the "sales manager" questions he was not helpful at all, he seemed bothered by our presence there. In the end he basically told us to go to another dealership because we were wasting his time. I don't know if it was because we were younger but he made it absolutely clear that he did not want our business. This man thinks too highly of himself and the little garage store that he simply works at. **The person responding to my review talks as if he was there during our visit, only going by whatever version of the encounter his little worker chose to tell him. I have to say that these guys are absolutely AWESOME, Jack is probably the only shop manager I have ever met that really cares about his customers, I own a older BMW which I can barely afford to keep on the road. But jack always seems to find it in his heart to help me out the best he can. Terrible customer service and a waste of money. On 10/25 I had my car towed to this shop by AAA because it wouldn't start. Before AAA towed me, they verified the battery was fine and that something else was causing my car not to start. On 10/28 I called to follow up on my car and Jack informed me there was an issue with the alternator and that my alternator and battery would need to be replaced. I questioned why my battery would need to be replaced when the AAA staff tested my battery and said it was fine. He said since the alternator was erratically charging it, the battery was burnt out. I agreed to services and picked up my car on 10/29 around 5:00 pm. Prices were pretty decent but turns out you get even less than what you pay for. I drove my car 10/29, 10/30, and 10/31. On 11/1 my car once again would not start, making the same noise it made on 10/25. This caused me to miss an important job interview. My husband called Jack and Jack's first response was "oh, so your wife left the lights on?". Not only was this disrespectful but flat out stupid as the battery was working fine. After some back and forth, Jack agreed to have my car towed to the shop and would drop off a loaner vehicle for me to use during repairs. Soon after Jack called back and said he didn't have a tow truck available so he would have his staff drive a loaner car to me, jump start my car and drive it back to the shop. He insisted on this even though my battery wasn't dead. Soon after that he called back and said he couldn't give me a loaner but he would tow my car to his shop and promised to have it back at my house by the end of the day. After inspecting my car, Jack called my husband and informed him the fuel pump needed to be replaced. My husband questioned if it was necessary to replace the alternator and battery, Jack got very defensive and rude. Jack informed us that we would be charged for the tow truck to his shop. If he would have disclosed this in the first place, we would have used AAA to tow it to his shop for free. I agreed to have the fuel pump replaced. Jack then said it would be ready by 4:00 p.m. and we would need to pick up the vehicle, even though earlier he said he would deliver it. Besides Jack's extremely rude behavior and rescinding on his offer to tow my car home and provide a loaner, I believe I paid for services that weren't necessary. Jack kept making comments about me coming in with a dead battery. I know what a dead battery sounds like and this wasn't it. The function of the battery was also verified by AAA tow truck staff before dropping my car off.  There are only two possibilities here. Either they misdiagnosed my car and I needed a fuel pump replaced instead of the alternator and battery. Or I needed all three replaced and they missed that the first time. Either way resulted in wasted money, wasted time, and a missed job interview. Edit: Jack's response "Thank you for your review, OUR SIDE of the story please mention that you have a eight-year-old vehicle with 132,000 miles that could break any day, if you were towed in how could you've drove out of our shop? so tow in and drive out doesn't make sense. Your husband was told that he can get a second opinion. He declined please mention your husband mentioned that you were involved in the Santa Clarita fires he got a huge discount on the battery and alternator, and the fuel pump was replaced at our cost courtesy to you replacement of the fuel pump was $151 no labor charge to you. I am sorry that you lost important job interview but this is not our fault." Yes, I have an old car and yes you gave us a discount. I'm not really sure what you're talking about with the tow in drive out. I think you misread my review. I understand my car is old but I came in to get an issue fixed and had the same issue a couple days after you " fixed" it. read more

Then 3rd estimate was from West Coast Motor Inc. on Burbank Blvd in North Hollywood where Jeff Gerber discussed the situation with me He noticed the other shops were using aftermarket parts. He said for his estimate it would include OEM (original equipment) parts As we all know, aftermarket doesn't always fit right He explained the tangible facts about OEM parts. West Coast Motor made me and my car very irritated. Don't get me wrong, I was delighted when the friendly folks at West Coast rental offered a moderately priced tune up, and I was ecstatic when they agreed to reinstall the molding on my door for free. When I retrieved my car it was humming like a bumble bee, ready for busy buzzing around town. There was no "check engine" light to be seen, the molding looked great and I was very happy with my purchase... for about eight hours. That very evening my friend opens the passenger side door and half of the molding falls off. Apparently they just glued the thing back on without even washing the dirt off first (I'm no mechanic, but who glues plastic to dirt?) My friend opens another door and the sound of metal scraping my fender nearly brings me to tears. Those guys PUT A SCREW THROUGH MY STEEL DOOR to hold the molding in place, it wasn't aligned properly and so it popped my fender inward like those plastic bubbles on coffee lids. Pop. Now every time I open my door it un-pops. Then it pops again when I re-close the door. And to top it off, my freaking check engine light turned on the next morning. Again, I'm no mechanic. In fact, I'm kind of lazy. I don't even know if they did a good tune up or a bad tune up. Moreover I don't care. I could give two sihts about my stupid car. They even warned me before the ordeal that my check engine light may turn on again. Who cares. But really, glue on dirt? Screw through door? It's just sloppy. In fact, I'm starting to think that these guys are not only sloppy, but they are exploiting a very LA specific Yelp phenomenon. Start your business off with a few 5-star reviews and a you get some new customers. Offer yelp deals and more people start rolling in. All of a sudden, you've got like a hundred 5-star reviews... why? Because people from LA are too effin nice. They overrate everything that already has a good rating. Jack is a standup guy, no doubt. Not only was this the lowest estimate I got to change belts & oil on my beloved BMW Z4, but the service was fast and he even taught me how to change my wipers. Before I left he hooked up the BMW computer and ran a scan. A few faults immediately came up.. I am glad to have found a mechanic who knows and works on Minis for a better price than the dealership. (I live one block from the Mini dealership - but I refuse to pay the prices they charge!) When I took my car in to West Coast Motor for a repair, they provided me with a loaner car free of charge. I work on the other side of town, so not being without a car is a major plus. When a part they installed turned out to be faulty, they stood behind their work and replaced it in a timely fashion at no charge. Jack is an honest guy - the first time I went to his shop with a problem he ran a computer diagnostic, told me what it likely was (nothing major), and charged me nothing. When I did have a repair done at West Coast Motor and a promotional discount hadn't applied to my bill when I paid it, he called me to inform me of the error and then mailed me a check for the difference. I recently was in the market for a used 2003 Subaru Forester but it was hard finding one within my price bracket and overall value . I went to West Coast Motors because of an advertisement in Cars.com for a vehicle i was interested in. When i got there, the vehicle i was interested in was not on the lot, but they could get it there the next day. I said on any used vehicle i would need to get it inspected by a specialist in Land Rover's. Some brands need that. Over the weekend, when i call to see if the vehicle is on the lot and i can swing by to check it out, I get told they will not allow me to have independent inspection of the car. Give me some mumbo-jumbo about not having someone outside of 2 miles from there and they can't be someone who also sells vehicles. Lets be clear, they tell me that i can't have any mechanic who knows the make/model well inspect the car. They won't let me take it to an official dealer to inspect. I smell funny business and it is clear that you can't trust people in the used car business who operate this way. From the other reviews here, lots of people have had problems with West Coast Motors. I don't begrudge negativity from the owner, not letting someone get a major purchase inspected prior smells like a major red flag. don't you think? read more

The owner Jack is very forthright with the problems your car is experiencing and as I went to them the first time I shopped around for the best price and they came up on top as well. The mechanic Greg is a ham as it's refreshing to find someone with a personality in his position. He knows his cars and it is evident that he loves what he does as his enthusiasm for working on the cars is the first thing you notice when you speak with him about your car. They've even fixed little problems with my car at no cost and have made me a loyal patron for life. I took my 328i BMW (2007) to the dealer for a simple oil change 3 months ago. The dealer found out that my engine valve cover and the power steering hose were leaking. The dealer was going to charge me $1,800.00 to fix the problems. I decided to look for a good and honest BMW repair shop. I found West Cost Motor and had read the good reviews. I took a chance and drove my BMW to West Cost Motor. I spoke with the owner, Jack, about the leaks that were coming from the engine valve cover and power steering hose. He charged me half the price of what the BMW dealership was going to charge. In addition, Jack flushed the power steering fluid without extra charge. Furthermore, the mechanic cleaned the engine compartment as part of the excellent service. I waited at least 3 months before giving a review to make sure West Cost Motor did a good job. My BMW runs smooth and I don't notice any leaks from the engine valve cover and power steering hose. I rarely write reviews, but Jack deserves one. I think he is a good person, and I just found an honest mechanic for my BMW. read more

I've been going to WCM for over 1 year and would highly recommend them (especially for women). He has consistantly been very honest about areas that need attention, fair and reasonable pricing, and sincerely concerned about any issues that might put my safety at risk. This is very important to me as I cannot tell you how many times I have driven off the lot of a repair shop to find out later I could have been in a serious situation. Or have been "taken to the cleaners" on the repair costs only to return for more repairs because they either did not fix the original problem or forgot something. I took my BMW to Jack after the dealership told me I had to replace all 6 ignition coils (well over $2K) and the car had about 10K miles until it's life would end! Jack and his team went through each coil and tested it to find only ONE was bad and replaced it at a reasonable price...simply amazing! My car has been driven over 10K miles since then and is continuing to run with no problems. I would drive out of my way to take my car back with no hesitation! Thank you Jack and team! read more
