Went here on Saturday at about 10:10 am, right after opening. We thought it would be a great place to try as it looked like an "upscale dim sum" restaurant. The advertising of "fusion" flavors were enticing as well. When we got there, we asked about doing some take out but were disappointed to learn that they were not yet doing take out orders and they offered for us to dine in. Sure. We were hungry and were excited to taste what they had to offer. We were soon disappointed to learn that there were several items out of stock and sadly that included what we wanted to try. My question is how are you out of stock of menu items ten minutes into opening? That was unfortunate. Anyways, we ordered the shrimp pork hash, shrimp look fun, bbq pork bao and the mochi fried rice. The pork hash was certainly mushroom forward in flavor which, to me, threw off the flavor. Neither of us cared for it. The look fun was very bland. It was like eating plain watery rice in terms of flavor. The bao had a very strong floral flavor in the bread, which killed it for me. The hot mustard and chili sauces helped to make amends to the flavors of these items, though only marginally. What about the rice? I'm glad you asked. It caught the slow boat from the kitchen, so I had asked a server (ours was nowhere to be seen) for it to be cancelled as it was taking too long. Our server shows up later with the rice and I had her take it back since I had already asked for it to be canceled and our experience with the other three items were a miss. Not to mention, the prices were a little steep for what was being offered. This was the only up on the scale that we encountered. If you're looking for flavors taken in a different direction, you may want to check this place out. Personally, for us, the flavors were not palatable and did not check any of our boxes. We arrived before 8 PM and were told the wait would be 10-15 minutes. We ended up waiting about 35 additional minutes because another party was seated before us after apparently giving the host our name. There was no clear explanation or apology for the mix-up. Once we were finally seated, our server immediately told us that several menu items were out of stock. At that point, we were frustrated and confused about why we had been seated when so many items were unavailable, so we decided to order takeout instead. We ordered the salt and pepper wings and shrimp & pork hash. We waited until after 9 PM for our food, were charged the full amount, and then discovered that our order was incorrect and the takeout boxes were extremely light compared to what we expected. We brought the issue to the staff and asked for a refund. We were told they couldn't provide cash and that someone would call us the following day to arrange the refund. There was very little acknowledgment or apology for the multiple issues we experienced throughout the night. At this point, we were completely exhausted and disappointed. Between the extremely long wait, being seated after another party apparently used our name, the numerous unavailable menu items, the incorrect order, and the difficulty getting a refund, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. We also noticed that the menu appears to contain AI-generated descriptions, which felt especially strange given the overall lack of attention to detail during our visit. Went here the other night just to order some take-out to bring home for dinner. Was surprised when I was told by staff that they don't do take-out. What kind of restaurant, especially dim sum, doesn't do take-out. Now, they provide take-out containers for ppl dining-in to bring home leftovers. Strange. But, they will take orders for take-out once they transition out of their current soft opening. Well. Gave this place try to see how their Dim Sum was and sadly, they were out of about 9 menu items. They're located in Kapolei at the former location of LaTour Bakery. Pretty disappointed because #1, they just recently opened in Kapolei. And #2, they close after serving lunch and reopen at 5p-9p for dinner service. I got there about 6:15p and waited for about 25 minutes to get a table yet they were already out of many food items after serving dinner for only about 1.5 hours. After sitting down our server Ai (her name is Aileen) who was very nice asked what I wanted to order. I instead asked her if all the menu items were available. She then went to list the nine Dim Sum dishes that were already gone. Which was a huge bummer because there were more than a few items I wanted to order. So I had to settle for items that I really didn't want but assumed that they would most likely have. Such as the Lotus Sticky Rice, Black Bean Spareribs, Char Siu Look Fun, Garlic Choi Sum, Pork Hash, Har Gau and Ham Sui Gok. I noticed many diners who sat down after me and were told of all the menu items that were already gone all had the same response as me. The heavy "SIGH" followed by a disappointed face. I can understand that new restaurants can run out of food especially when it's a new place. BUT... to me it's that first impression that is very critical to ensure repeat customers. Having to wait 25 minutes for a table. I fine with that. But waiting almost 30 minutes only to find out later that many food items are all gone was not a great way to introduce a new restaurant to your new customers. Now to the food. What I ordered was just meh. Not the best Dim Sum I've had and certainly not worth the wait. Just my personal opinion. In fact. I'd rather drive to town and eat Dim Sum from Nice Day in Liliha. They have great Dim Sum and the service is quick. Would I recommend trying this place? Honestly. If you're coming from town, go to Nice Day instead. It's really not worth the drive out unless you're planning to hang out in Kapolei anyway. I don't think I will be going back again to try the items that they were out of. When our friends asked us where we wanted to go, we had the answer! Located on the ground level of Embassy Suites Kapolei, we found free street parking. Other people parked in the lot, walked through the hotel lobby, and got parking validation inside the restaurant. The interior was a bit noisy because it was busy and full of customers! Staff were scurrying around to make things flow. They were really good! We ordered a lot of items - I thought they were pretty good, but not the best. The shrimp dumplings, wagyu noodles, and custard tarts were my favorites. Note: there's a choice of two different teas. We got both... Jasmine and chrysanthemum teas. 2.5 stars and I'm being generous. How to describe this restaurant and the food? It looks like a Chinese restaurant and the menu photos are of Chinese food but it's not quite Chinese to me. It's like if I'm in Kentucky/Alabama/Africa/Mars, etc and went to a Chinese restaurant to eat dimsum. That's how I would describe the food there. We ordered a variety of dimsum and Wagyu Chow Mein. The chow mein was the best tasting item IMO. Everything else I had to drown with hot sauce. It was also quite pricey for the what they offer. We journeyed to Kapolei despite the rain, wind and possible flooding. They are located in a hotel and do validate. There is also street parking out front. This was previously a Japanese restaurant and decor is about the same as before. Customer service was friendly and surprisingly they were quite busy the entire time we dined there. Groups of 6+ have an automatic 18% gratuity. This is a one and done for most of us but glad we got to try Chinese in Kapolei. 5 stars for the company during lunch :) read more

We drove out to Kapolei from Kaimuki on a Saturday in February, 2026. We had a group of 8 Yelpers celebrating the birthdays of two in the group. The restaurant is on the groundfloor of the Embassy Suites hotel. There is street parking and a validated lot for the hotel. The restrooms are clean and there are two sets, one right outside in the pool? area and others down the hall. You need a key card conveniently hanging on the wall near the restaurant's back exit to access the restrooms. Service is prompt, but the food was average, not great. Better Chinese food and dim sum can be gotten in other restaurants in town. I guess if you're out there and want dim sum West Emperor would suffice. But to me, it really wasn't worth the drive out. read more

Fairly new dim sum place opened about 2 months ago the waitress said . West Emperor located in the Embassy Suites hotel in Kapolei on the ground floor . Originally this was a Japanese steak and seafood restaurant which West Emperor is now located in. It's a fairly small dinning area located right next door to the swimming pool of the hotel . Parking is located behind the hotel and with parking validation it's free . The dim sum was just ok . My favorite dish was their pork hash and the Wagyu chow mein. The custard tart was my least favorite the custard wasn't sweet enough and it was real eggy . Service was friendly and our order came out pretty quick . Heard about this place and my cousin was like, "We have to try it!" So of course we had to. The night before, was a bit taken aback at the prices when looking over the menu. But we still went. And glad we did, because the food is delicious! My mom particularly liked the thick noodle of the wagyu chow funn. I was impressed by the stewed chicken feet. We also had the black pepper sauce shrimp, which the sauce was really good. The other dishes were also pretty good - custard bun, seafood dumpling, and bean curd roll. The place is inside/outside of the Embassy Suites, modern deco, bathrooms are the hotel lobby bathrooms accessed by key card. Validated parking. Sorry, I have to make sure I say this but the wagyu was so ono!!! Can't leave that out at a place that specializes in wagyu. Our son loved the bbq pork char siu bao. We enjoyed indulging in siu mai w/ shrimp, half moon, shrimp and chives dumpling, and seafood dumpling. Our friends also enjoyed beef tripe and chicken feet. Soup dumpling with pork were missing spoons and Chinese black vinegar or red vinegar. Dan tat looked appealing; however, crust and custard filling were not in sync after taking a bite. Fabulous customer service. Few highlights: Lots of free parking on both sides of Manawai St fronting the business and across the street. Dim sum in Kapolei, finally! Four stars simply because this place saves the drive and hassle of looking for parking in town. The food and prices bring this place more to 3.5 stars. My husband, our two friends (all who are Chinese and grew up eating dimsum), their two kids and I dined here the same weekend Kelli from Star Advertiser posted her Instagram reel of this place. We were pretty shocked by the prices, but reminded ourselves that we're in Kapolei and with no dimsum competition. The server was taking and bringing out orders by herself. I must admit that the wagyu slices on their chow fun was tasty, but it's expected when the restaurant and the former Gyu-Masu restaurant share one owner. The restaurant smells like a good yakiniku restaurant, and your clothes will smell like meat! Because of the prices, we didn't order a lot and weren't full to the brim. If you're in Kapolei and somehow have a massive craving for dimsum, West Emperor hits the spot. Heard of this place and some friends wanted to try it. Walking in is clean with a good amount of tables for the amount of service they do. When getting there, sign in at the front desk. There is valid parking at the hotel. Only served from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. So get there early. Once you sit down. You order your dim sum like ordering your sushi at Genki. I visited West Emperor on Saturday, 12/26/25 at 12:25p for a takeout. This business is new and just opened and is located on the left side of Embassy Suites. It was somewhat busy. There was one waitress who was very pleasant working as host as well. I waited a bit then after 5 minutes put in my order. They were short staffed today. At this time, they ran out of 3 Dim Sum dishes. Fortunately, they had my choices of Chicken Feet, Beef Tripe, Pork Hash with Shrimp, and Char Sui. I eagerly opened my takeout at home to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Feet. It was cooked to perfection and was very flavorful. The size was substantial as well. The Pork Hash with Shrimp compared to others that I've had before, was tasty. The Char Sui Pork tasted good but was chopped very thinly. It was interesting with the vegetables on the side. The tripe dish wasn't that tasty. I've tasted more flavorful tripe before. They also give you mustard and hot sauce with your takeout if you want. That is a plus. Overall, the service was great, the ambiance looked cheery, and the food was good. I'm happy that we have a Dim Sum Restaurant in Kapolei. Saw a HI foodie influencer's video on West Emperor in Kapolei this past weekend. So we decided to have Sunday brunch here. Super easy to find if you're from the Kapolei area, but just use your GPS to Embassy Suites as it is on the ground floor of the hotel. Not sure about available hotel parking as we were able to find street parking across the street from the hotel. We got to the restaurant a little after 11 am along with other patrons and quickly grabbed a table since there was no sign that indicated to wait to be seated. Where we sat, I wasn't able to see the TVs that had Sunday football playing. We were greeted by the waitress who dropped off the menu and went to get us water. The menu is nice and short but has all the favs listed, along with wagyu options. However some of the fried options were out of stock, like the shrimp tempura, the wagyu meatballs and another item. While waiting for our waters, I went ahead and scanned the QR code, quickly picked out our favs including the Wagyu chow fun ($24 ouch). I thought I submitted our order but the waitress didn't see it.when I showed her, it was because I didn't put in my payment info. So instead of leaving the tab open, I paid for everything as we ordered 7-dishes. The first dish to arrive was the Wagyu chow fun. That was really good and my favorite out of everything that we had. All the other dishes that followed was as expected. Because we plan to frequent this restaurant, we asked for the hours. The waitress let us know that this is only their second week open and they've been busy. That makes sense because the service was a bit slow. So be patient or come visit in a month or two from now when they've worked out most of the kinks. Restaurant is open Most days, except from Monday, and hours are 11-5. Although I rarely drink, they do have a full service bar. Because it stopped raining the other day, the restaurant is nicely lit. There is a table that has a view of the pool with rock waterfall. Not HK Michelin. Not Chinatown dim sum. Not manapua shop. It is a local twist similar to what you'd find at a farmers market. Across the board, very thick crystal skin on the har gow, scallop dumpling, shrimp dumpling and oddly a manapua shop staple, half moon. It also appears they make, freeze, then reheat dim sum. Not usually a problem except improper storage and thawing of bready items like the steamed custard bao results in a dry, cracked steamed bread despite being re-steamed. Other items: - pork hash - dense but well seasoned. - custard tart - different having a pie crust instead of the usual flaky crust. - chicken feet - tender and well seasoned but don't understand the raw bell pepper garnish that doesn't match. - roast pork - Filipino supermarket lechon? Again, the garnish makes no sense. Note: Pics are incoming. No time during the Olympics to develop the RAW files. Prices in line with dim sum spots outside of Chinatown. There are a lot of places which serve dim sums, but we were willing to try this new place in Kapolei. The uncertainty of the bad weather to come that evening, we decided to not cancel and play it by ear! Good thing I was offered a ride since I would been lost. Some had been to the previous Japanese restaurant, so they knew of the area. The were a lot of street parking in front of the restaurant or can park at the Embassy Suites Hotel & the restaurant offers validation. The restaurant was next to the pool area so the restaurant shared the same bathrooms. The hotel hasn't been maintained well since the toilet paper was out and later the seat covers as well. The service was good although we kind of assist in cleaning up or gathering our dishes at the end. Dim sums were just okay and I thought the char siu wasn't tender and the egg tart weren't to our liking. The egg tart's crust wasn't flaky and it's more of a cookie crust. The pan fried turnip and the Wagyu chow mein were the better ones in my opinion. We had chicken and chive gyoza. Char siu, Wagyu chow mein, Hong Kong BBQ pork bun, shrimp & pork hash, shrimp & chive dumpling, half moon, egg tart, & pan fried turnip. I didn't have the Shrimps items. The waitress was nice to put my cake in the refrigerator and provided plates. At least they allow us to bring a cake and they can put it in their refrigerator if space was available when I called to ask. Since we had a party of 8, there was an automatic 18% tip for groups of 6 or more. I don't know everyone left feeling content but it was nice to see everyone again for the two birthdays. I really don't care for to much chives and garlic but some of the dim sum had that. It was ok but I really have eaten better. That's my opinion. The service was great and the dim sum came out fast. We decided to try this place as we were told there's a new dim sum place in Kapolei now. We always go to Waikiki or Chinatown for dim sum. But since we live out West, we decided to give it a try. We got the $28 waygu chow mein noodles which was a very small portion, the steamed pork buns, ( I had to send them back as the dough was not cooked throughly) , pork hash with shrimp ( these were extremely tiny !) & half moon. Tried this new restaurant. It's attached to the hotel. Even though it was a weekday and we got there right when they opened, there were already a bunch of other groups gathering. You can order your dishes on your phone after scanning the menu which is likely the most efficient way. So it's not the usual dim sum push cart experience. We ordered a variety of dishes including the wagu beef bao, fried noodles, taro puffs. We enjoyed all of the dishes. They were surprisingly tasty and very filling. Would recommend coming here. Tried West Emperor for dim sum and overall had a really solid experience. First off the space is very open and has large tvs, a lot of nice lighting and a very nice new feel since they are a newer restaurant in the area. They use QR codes at the table to order through ToastTab, but they also start by taking your order normally and let you choose whether you want to continue on your phone or not. I didn't mind it at all--it seems set up so you don't have to wait on a server if it's busy. And for anyone not into tech, full table service is still an option. We ordered the pork hash (good), har gow (good), chicken and chive gyoza (also good), half moon dumplings (enjoyed these), and the bean curd roll, which my aunt loved. The sticky rice (not pictured) was honestly one of the highlights--really delicious and I'd absolutely order it again. The only thing I'd skip next time is the soup dumplings. They came in little foil mini pie tins and were pretty stuck to them, which made them hard to eat and took away from the experience. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially to try more of their non-dim sum dishes. Solid spot, good variety, and plenty more on the menu worth exploring. I would love to see some boiled dumpling options on the menu. read more

Located at the Embassy Suites hotel where you can park for free on the outside near the Kapolei Lofts Apartment complex lies West Emperor. We stopped in for lunch which goes on until 2 pm at which time they close doing final orders/seating at 2. They reopen again at 5 pm for dinner service. The food was pretty good. My husband and I had a quick lunch date before picking up our daughter and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of their dim sum menu. We tried the Pork Hash with shrimp, soup dumpling with pork, Half Moon, Hong Kong BBQ Pork Bao, Chicken and Chive Bao as well as the Sesame balls of Jin Dui with a side of rice. All were delicious! We liked the quick and friendly service along with the array of sauces with both chili and hot mustard. The ambiance was casual and the tables were full with people eating lunch.You can order by scanning the QR code on the table to send in your order with toasttab which the waitress can bypass putting in card info on the machine up front to pay after instead. We even managed to see family there as well. It was a bit pricey but quite an enjoyable meal. We will make sure to park in the lot next time as we thought we would have to park on the road with street parking. read more

Pretty good and amazing quality from West Emperor Dim Sum. There's not much Dim Sum that you can get at West Side. This place is very close to where a lot of people live so with Kapolei being developed, it definitely needed a Dim Sum place being open. The Waitress was amazing and very hospitable, frequently asking if we needed water or Hot Tea. I do say that everything looks way too sleek and needs plants and decorations. Had to try out this place after learning they served Dim sum on the Westside. If I don't have to drive out to Chinatown then this would be a gold mine. We got there on a Saturday at 12:30pm which might mean disaster since I read other reviews with it being very crowded since it opened not too long ago and the wait times have been long. But we were sat about 10 minutes after adding our name to the waitlist. They have dishes which are made with wagyu and has a wagyu price to match. I decided to stay with the more traditional items because if they can't hit it out of the ballpark with these items, I wouldn't want to spend my money on a few wagyu dishes. I ordered siu mai, har gow, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, bean curd roll, and crispy spring rolls (from the specials of the day offered). The spring rolls were served straight from the fryer and the other dishes came out soon thereafter, also steaming hot! The food was pretty tasty, My favorites were the siu mai (flavorful and juicy, great texture) and the sticky rice in lotus leaf had a good aroma and flavor to it. I might skip the bean curd next time...it was a bit dry and lacked a bit of flavor, but it was okay. Spring rolls and har gow I would also order again. Chili Sauce and Soy Sauce is on the table and hot mustard is brought out separately. No complaints on the quick service. The server was pleasant and quick to bring out our food. The restaurant is located in the Embassy Suites in Kapolei. I found free parking on the street, but I heard you can probably park in the hotel parking too - call to confirm this. Lunch is served from 11-2pm. The tables are nicely spaced so you don't feel like you are sitting on top of each other. So I would definitely go back to try more things. When I ordered I asked the waitress if the char siu came with steamed rice, she said, "No." I never been to a Chinese restaurant with no rice. There was a wagyu fried rice for $24.50. Only 4 shrimp in a black pepper shrimp order. The half moon had a lot of green onion , pork grisly. Char siu was okay came with sliced multi colored peppers, some were crunchy. Went to try dim sum to the west. Ordered my usual go to at any dim sum, started with the har gow, siu mai, half moon and their style of wagyu chow fun. The har gow and half moon wraps had a different texture (mushy) and the half moon was cold on the inside. They took the half moon back and told me that they had a new chef in training. I ordered another har gow, then a black bean spare ribs, and a lotus leaf. This time the har gow and spare ribs was cold (frozen cold) when I took a bite. They took the food back, I cashed out, went on my merry way very disappointed. I Honestly do not like to leave negative reviews, but how else does a business improve? If this is a place of premade frozen foods (guessing) as how cold my food was served? I was not impressed at all! Very quick service and the dim sum was amazing. Must recommend the pepper and onion wagyu and even the pan fry turnip cake was two thumbs up! Food came surprisingly quickly (but have to admit the place wasn't packed.). The ordering was via an app so you don't get the traditional Chinese waitress (yelling) at you (but that's what makes a traditional dim sum fun) so it was super easy and efficient. Ambiance was very clean and this is probably a great after hour spot for family and friends. Will definitely come again! read more

You would need to sign in when you arrive regardless if it is not busy. There is a scan and pay QR code on each table. However, our waitress took our orders. But we accidentally doubled ordered on the QR code, so just be aware to remove the order if you tell the waitress. Food was good. Most items are 3 pieces. Wagyu fried rice was really good. The custard tarts were delicious! It is made to order so it will be hot. Bathrooms are in the hotel. They have a key card to access. That was nice. Moms... there is a baby changing table in the womens' bathroom. We parked on the main road. There is parallel parking. But I THINK you can park in the hotel's parking lot. That was terrible. The food was cold on the I side, the meatballs are far from what it's supposed to be. The spareribs was somewhat ok but definitely not tasty. The sui mai was the only thing that came close to what dim sum is supposed to taste like. Don't go here!!!!!! read more

The wait wasn't terrible and we were serviced pretty fast. The dim sum menu is kinda small but it does has have the typical stuff that people would usually order. My mother enjoyed the chicken feet and spare ribs. Highly recommend order their fried rice. read more

On a whim my friends and I came here for dinner. It's nice that there is a dim sum place on the west side and we were all excited to try this place. Staff were really friendly and service was great. You do have the option to order using the QR via Toast which is great you don't need to wait for your server to stop by to place an order. These are the items we've tried were pork hash, har gow, soup dumplings, shrimp and chives dumplings, bean curd roll, egg custard bao, salted egg custard bao and sesame ball red bean. Food was good but could be better. The har gow was over steamed, the bottom stuck to the steam basket and I had a difficult time removing it. The texture of the wrapper was mushy as well hard as if it was sitting out. Now the soup dumplings I would not recommend. They are steamed in little tin foil cups and difficult to eat out of. Consensus everyone loved the salted egg custard bao. I would revisit this restaurant if have a craving for dim sum and don't want to drive out to town. read more
