I visited on Christmas Eve, and must say this place was ran like well oiled machine. From start to finish, the service was incredible and the food came out in a very timely manner. The New York strip was exceptionally great, and honestly a very good price for NYC. We also got the sautéed onions and macaroni and cheese which were both great compliments to the main entree. The decor was very festive and made the experience even better. Despite it being busy, our waiter was very attentive and the staff really knocked it out of the park. My coworker had the branzino and loved it. The cream of spinach side was the best I had. Potato wedges were very well cooked and crispy. Ribeye was also cooked and seasoned well. It is pretty small inside, but I enjoyed the intimate feel. The employees were great even when we were 30 minutes late because of traffic. I ordered the chicken and shrimp served over garlic mashed potatoes, and my friend ordered the fillet. While we were waiting for our food, warm bread was brought out, which held us over while waiting for our entrees. I enjoyed my chicken and shrimp meal, but I absolutely loved my friend's filet. It was probably one of the most tender, juiciest fillets I've ever tasted. If I ever returned to this restaurant, I definitely would order the filet for myself as well. There was a basil pesto sauce under them which enhanced the flavors. So good!! 10/10. The creamed spinach was very fine. Good but faint flavor. 7/10. The filet mignon is thick, juicy, and the perfect size. They cooked it perfect! It came out hot and it was melt-in-your mouth flavor. Wonderfully tender and salted.10/10. Highly recommended!! We finished with a pecan pie dessert with vanilla ice cream instead of whipped cream and an iced americano (not on menu) and cappuccino. We shared a ribeye steak and asked for it to be done medium, but received a nearly purple-in-the-middle and cold, rare-cooked steak. Asked them to please throw it back on the grill for a little bit, and it was returned with a medium-rare cook. Basically, charred on the outside, and raw on the inside. There was no seasoning to the steak whatsoever: no hints of salt or pepper, and was a letdown sadly. The fries were great as well. My friends got filet mignons and they said it's probably the best steak they've ever had. As far as my ribeye it was amazing but definitely not the best I've had. I was contemplating giving 4 stars, but considering that this is a steak house, it could have done a bit better with the most important part of the meal - the steak. We ordered a porterhouse medium rare. Initially I had asked also for horseradish but the waiter said they didn't have any so we got bearnaise sauce... I thought it was strange because what steakhouse doesn't have horseradish? Once the steak arrived, it was a shame that my medium rare was well done on the outside and rare on the inside. Even after having a few bites, you could taste the dryness from the outer layer. As much as I hate to say this, but it wasn't cooked evenly to the right temp and probably thrown on a high flame quickly which is why it ended up being "black and blue." It was literally like a medium well done outside and a rare inside in my opinion. At the end of the meal I ended up asking another waiter if they indeed did not have horseradish. He mentioned that our waiter was new and apologized for that. We took our rare pieces home and got the horseradish to go as well. If the steak was cooked perfectly, it would have been 5 stars from us. If it were a regular restaurant, 4. We had a show to catch on Broadway in the evening, so we had searched some restaurants in the area with steak and come across West Side in our search. We were able to get an easy reservation. The restaurant was walkable from Broadway, which was super convenient and was in a nice area with lots of life around it to help us kill time before the show, after we finished dinner. Inside, it was small but nice. Had vintage New York City charm. We felt comfortable in casual attire, which was lovely. However, the restaurant still felt more upscale than your average, so people were coming in more dressed up, as well. Nicholas was our server and he was absolutely lovely. Service was quick and we appreciated his feedback on menu selections as we were torn between some of our options (especially sides!). We were impressed with every single item we got, between the two of us. My husband and I both throughout enjoyed our steaks. They were cooked to perfection and well-seasoned. My filet mignon cut like butter. The sides were equally as incredible. We especially loved the creamy, baked macaroni and cheese. The sauce was so outstanding that we actually finished our meal, dipping our steak fries into the remaining sauce (highly recommend!). The creamed spinach was another side to note because out of all of the high-end steakhouses we have visited in the city and in New England, this was hands down the best creamed spinach we have ever had.
