I've been so impressed so far with customer service and availability. I'm working with curbing/learning to park a short car for my first car in my life and just spent... 4 hours at the dealership (with an appt) for them to do a thing they had to do. But they referred me to someone who couldn't even fit me in for an appt for another week for the next part of the job. I called Rod and he answered and was able to look at my car that day to provide an estimate that is more than I'd dreamed, but also less than I'd feared . He also offered some cheaper options, which I appreciated, but I'd like a new start with my car. He ordered the parts and made a plan for when I'll need to bring my car in for the repairs based on my schedule (summer fun!) I was in and out in... 20 mins? I was in an accident, and had my Tesla towed here because the tow truck driver recommended it, and the shop said they could fix Teslas. I found out they are NOT a Tesla approved repair shop (which can absolutely void warranty on a Tesla.) When I wanted to change shops, they wanted to be reimbursed for work... and they were never authorized to do any work! It was a struggle to get them to release my vehicle so it could go to an authorized shop, which was way more affordable, according to my insurance company. This was my third experience with Rod. Unfortunately, I have been the one to "bump" into various items with my car...LOL. He worked on my car about five years ago (once on each side) and back then was located in NW Portland (close to my job downtown). He did such a great job that I was more than willing to travel to NE Portland (I also live in SW Portland - so not near my work or home). We agreed that I could drop it off on a Friday, go on vacation and pick it up when I got back. I didn't think of calling before I took a Lyft from work to pick it up & it wasn't ready due to one of his crew being sick. So I had to go back in the afternoon to pick it up and as usual it looked perfect! They do such great work and you cannot even tell anything happened AND it was detailed inside & out. On an expected plus side, Rod covered my Lyft from earlier that day which I thought was cool & very generous! He might not be in your neighborhood but you should give him a try. He has a customer for life with me...though I hope to not have to use him too often...LOL! read more

I have never written an online review before, but I'm compelled to because of my amazing experience here. I can promise you that you and your car will be taken care of here with exceptional customer service. Rod is an honest, understanding, and respectful businessman who takes care of his customers. I recently got in a rear ending accident and unfortunately had to pay for the collision damages on my 2008 Toyota Prius out of pocket. (As a 23 year old I'm not in the place to buy another new car, nor do I have what would've been well over $4,500 to spend on repairs) Rod shopped around to keep the repairs at a low cost. They worked diligently and did a thorough job finding salvaged and manufactured parts to save me money. Rod also put tremendous effort in to fix parts like the headlights that would've costed me another $800 each. He was able to find amazing deals on many good quality used parts that needed to be replaced and new parts that were less expensive that buying from the dealer. He explained the inner mechanics and functioning of each part. He explained and physically showed me what the damages were, which I really appreciated. He didn't make me feel inept, nor did he take advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. In addition, when I was communicating with him, he went out of his way to make sure that the time I dropped off and picked up my car were convenient for me. Recently had some damage to my 2005 Chevy Cavalier which the other persons insurance paid for. Found West Side because he was referred by my mechanics at Everett Autoworks. I was prepared to deal with sub par work being that I wasn't paying for it but Rod and his crew did a fantastic job, my car looked like nothing had even happened to it AND he fixed a window that wasn't rolling up from the collision, thoroughly explained the problem and even saved the part to show me what was wrong. My car got hit by another car so I needed some body work done. I got two estimates. One from here and the other from Active Auto Body. Both estimates were provided on the spot and differed by only $3 dollars. However, I wanted to see if I could get the work done for less and save some money. Westside told me they could get a salvaged side panel and Active Auto said they could not. I went with Westside for this reason and the fact that they've been in business since 1958 and offer a lifetime warranty. I dealt with Rod who provided great customer service and repaired my car to tip top shape. It looks amazing! Oddly, you won't find any reviews online for Westside (until now)! Don't let this discourage you. This is a small shop of about 4 guys who have been doing this a LONG time. My car suffered a terrible fate being parked next to a house fire, and as a result, melted. Yes. Melted. The windshield was bubbled and shattered, the mirrors and headlamps were completely melted, window seals, not to mention the serious paint job the car needed. I was distraught. Initial insurance estimates were WAY off, but thankfully Rod was at my defense the whole time. He made sure the little scrapes that happen in typical parking and driving disappeared. And the damage to the front and rear side doors are gone, gone, gone! "West Side, this is Rod!" Rod at West Side is great. I have been refering our customers to him for a couple years now because of the industryI work in. I have always assume that anyone that calls them selves a body shop can replace damaged parts and paint them. This week I had to take my personal vehicle to him and I found outthis is not the cause and the differences will amaze you, thanks to Rod and his crew. I have an almost new Toyota Tundra and my front bumper was side swiped by a friend while I was parked. This made it a sticky situation because it brought cost into my concern because my friend was paying for it. My bumper is a combination of plastic, chrome, and body. When I drove up, we looked at it togather and he showed a high concern for the chrome part because it can not be buffed out and painted like normal body parts. He told me the part was around $600 alone. I started to worry that I would end up not getting it fixed because I didn't want my friend to pay that much. Rod told me that he wanted to try a few things and then he would call me over to tell him what I thought. I did not need the truck, so I told him to take his time. I may have pointed out a few other scratches that seem to just show up on a new car. Rod said that one on my tail gate was too deep and would need the whole thing paint..."but he would try". I came to check it out 2 days later and could not believe it. The chrome on my front bumper, unblemished. The body buffed out like a champ. All those litle scratches I pointed out were gone. You guys may remember the tail gate scratches that were too deep, gone. I am so thankful for how it turned out. The only parts cost was a new license plate bracket, $12. My mechanic referred me to West Side Auto Body, and I'm glad that they did! A guy backed into my car in a parking lot, broke a headlight and caused some minor denting. West Side auto body got a reasonable quote to us quickly and worked around my very odd schedule (flying out of town all week) with no problem, allowing me to drop off the car after hours. Not only did they repair the damage, but they cleaned the exterior and interior of my car! I am not sure if this is something that they usually do (perhaps they took pity on my poor dingy vehicle), but it was a pretty awesome touch. 5 stars for going above and beyond the call of duty. read more

Honest and kind are the words I would choose to describe West Side Autobody. During the autumn, I called to find a salvage yard that had a replacement side view mirror for my daughter's 2002 car. I found the part and the salvage yard recommended Rod at West Side autobody to install it and they had the part sent there. My daughter with health issues and lots of studying did not manage to make it to Rod for many months and when I arrived probably nine months or so later, Rod was still holding the part and installed it today for a very reasonable price. read more
