My favorite greasy spoon of northwest Denver. It's your typical American small breakfast cafe, and everything you could hope for if that's what you're after. I've been going to Westy's Cafe ever since they were in their old location on 72nd / Federal. All three of my kids have eaten here and while learning to use a fork. The staff is consistent and kind. They've watched my kids grow and cleaned up all of their messes with a smile. The food is great. Big portions, quick, hot, flavorful and enough to take home for later. I expect all of these things now, and they never fail. They remember your face, your name, and your order. They remember what you're up to, ask what's new, and they care. It's just that kind of place. They've comped the bill on a couple of occasions when it's really counted, but it's never been for a lack of anything on their side. I'll keep going back. As a first timer, it was very obvious that there are many regulars. The servers were prompt and attentive. The menu options are extensive making it so hard to pick. I originally wanted to give this place one star, but I decided I'd be nice and give two stars for the attentiveness of the wait staff. Food here was sub par. My friends and I got a variety of dishes, and there was nothing special or homey about their dishes. Mac n cheese was literally Kraft Mac n cheese and the portion was only 1/3 of the box for $5! Ridiculous. We could've had better waffles and pancakes at IHOP or waffle house. The wait staff was very attentive of refilling our coffee, however, they seemed to rush us with our meals even though the restaurant wasn't full. Very sad my experience and meals weren't greater. No sides of fruit, no alternative milks, no espresso drinks; a no-frills, but big portioned hangover cure. Omelettes are good, the potatoes, and the pancakes are solid options. WESTY'S is the best!!!!The food is always great and fresh made to order. The atmosphere and staff are terrific, it's like popping up at your grandma's house hungry and unannounced. ( you are greeted and treated as family and all's " grandma " wants to do is get you fed and happy ). The prices are unbeatable. My hubby gets the Mexican steak and eggs. I get the meat and eggs both of which come with the most perfect hash browns. We share an order of pancakes and sausage. Tortillas, roasted jalapeños,drinks and plates completely FULL $$$45!!!! They make sure your coffee/soda is always full without bugging or hovering.
