What should have been a simple food order for my autistic child turned into a petty, controlling, and intimidating situation over two slices of cheese. My family has ordered the same thing from Culver's for years: two grilled chicken filets with a slice of cheese. We have always been charged for the grilled chicken filets with cheese added separately, not as full sandwiches without buns. My husband had just ordered it the same way the week before. On this visit, Shakira suddenly said it had to be charged as full sandwiches because cheese counted as a topping. So I changed the order and paid for the grilled chicken filets plain. Then I tried to buy the two cheese slices separately, which another employee was willing to ring up for about 85 cents. Shakira ran over and stopped him from selling it to me. At that point, it felt less like policy and more like control. She would rather refund an approximately $20 order that I had already paid for than allow me to buy two slices of cheese separately. She then threatened to call the police while I was waiting for my refund. As a Black customer, having a white manager threaten to call police over two slices of cheese felt very concerning. The only thing I could think was that this felt like what society calls a "Karen" situation -- escalating something small and unnecessary instead of calmly resolving it. She also slammed the drive-thru window hard after saying she would call the police. Now for the full details: I had a very troubling experience at Culver's #613, located at 6778 Hickory Flat Hwy, Canton, GA 30115, involving manager Shakira. My family has ordered from this Culver's location for years. We regularly order two grilled chicken filets with a slice of cheese for my autistic child, who eats the same foods consistently. This has always been rung up as grilled chicken filets with cheese added separately, not as full sandwiches without buns. My husband had just ordered this same way the week before without any issue. On this visit, I ordered the same thing: two grilled chicken filets with cheese. For the first time ever, manager Shakira told me that if cheese is added to grilled chicken, the order must be rung up as full sandwiches without buns. I made it clear that I did not want lettuce, tomato, bun, or any sandwich toppings. I only wanted the grilled chicken filets with cheese, the same way we have ordered them many times before. Shakira said this was their policy and that the policy had supposedly been in place for years, although she also said other employees may not have been aware of it or may not have been following it. Since Shakira said the issue was the cheese being added as a topping to the chicken, I attempted to resolve the issue by purchasing the grilled chicken filets plain. I paid for two plain grilled chicken filets and received a receipt showing the grilled chicken filets, not sandwiches. After that, I attempted to purchase two slices of cheese separately. Another employee was willing to ring up the cheese separately and quoted it at about 85 cents, but Shakira stopped him from selling it to me. She appeared to refuse the cheese because she knew I intended to use it with the chicken. At that point, it felt less like a policy issue and more like pettiness and control. Instead of trying to calmly resolve a simple food-order issue, she offered only the food without cheese or a refund. She then threatened to call police if I did not leave after the refund. I had already asked for my refund and was waiting to receive my money back. As a Black customer, being threatened with police over a minor order dispute involving two slices of cheese felt intimidating, unnecessary, and racially concerning. She also slammed the drive-thru window hard during the interaction. I repeatedly asked for my refund because I had already paid for the order and had a receipt. The order was approximately $20, and Shakira seemed willing to have Culver's lose that entire sale rather than allow me to purchase two slices of cheese separately for about 85 cents. That does not sound like good customer service or good management. It felt like ego, control, and pettiness. I also asked how to contact someone above her or how to contact corporate. Shakira stated that the owner is Tim Auseth and said that there was no way to reach corporate beyond him because he is the franchise owner. She also stated that because it is his store, he has his own rules and standards. That was concerning to hear, because this location still operates under the Culver's name. I later went to another Culver's location the same day, and they were able to ring up a similar order as grilled chicken filets with American cheese charged separately. That is how my family has commonly ordered it before.

Their Hotdogs are 100 percent Angus Beef franks. With jumbo Beef dogs, slaw dogs and chili cheese hotdogs as their main line- up. There are many ways to enjoy your hotdog but Bobby's grill theirs which is one of my favorites. A crispy skin that goes crunch and then the tasty juiciness follows. Just yum. I love the slaw dog and the chilli dog is also a favorite but this time I went with the grilled plain. Why you ask, because Bobby's has a nice feature with their huge topping bar where you can put your own topping on and as much as you want. Onions cut 3 different ways. Tomatos diced or sliced, relish mustard, different peppers and just about anything else you can put on your hotdog. Lol. And I've never seen it messy like other places. Always neat, well stocked and clean. Buns are the soft top-sliced kind. Great for loading up lots of toppings. And the fries are always fresh and hot! They have plenty of dry spices to sprinkle on your fries and or your hotdogs and burgers. Always friendly service and works wiping down tables and cleaning up. Nice place to try if you're in the mood for a burger or hotdog.

This place is amazing!!!! I wasn't aware of it being there…read morefor a couple months (due to its location). Been eating at DQ since I as a kid. My family got chicken (yes..they USE to serve fried chicken) at least once a week. DELICIOUS!!! Then, as I got older, driving. Etc..it was my go too. Reasonable b'fast/lunch prices. Lived near a DQ in all but 1 of the 8 places I've lived. Then...Went to this one. Just as pleased as any others. Prompt, "semi-fast....but VERY fresh food." We've never had left over fries or O Rings. Burgers cooked on/too order. Lots of young people there. SUCH nice staff. (Not a group of crotchety old, broken down, entitled 30/40 y/o's!) Very friendly, and SINCERE.....not because they're being paid. ALWAYS CLEANING , inside & out. If there's a slow min...someone is cleaning the pathing lot, picking up SORRY "adults" trash, Same inside. Supposedly "adults" leave the NASTIEST tables. Trash on the floors. But one of the young people cleans it as soon as the swine leave. Sadly, many do this with their kids with them, NOT CARING, and the children aren't shocked, so you can imagine what they live in. This is a VEEEEERY regular go-to place for us. Work, . Family, and youth group, as well as Rec, Dept kids. The staff...even with mostly young people are ALWAYS efficient, in the almost 5 years..I've never received an order wrong there. Regardless how busy, they move the food, etc. very quickly, working great together. (MUCH better than most places of business, with youth or mixed or old. Been a few times. Where the "wanna be somebodies", come in, think it's a 5 star resort and always want to be treated that way. But....they think it's ok to be TOTAL A**HOLES to the staff. I think it's one of their ways to "get off", maybe their only way! I've never seen a "slack group", always attentive, AND ...they actually respond well to kindness! (IMAGINE THAT!) Very good food! Blizzards are some of the best anywhere. Maybe I shouldn't tell it, but their blizzards are always great and a real treat, NEVER skimped on "fillings". Good specials, ALL their coupons honored, Never had an issue ordering (if/when done correctly.....AGAIN...imagine that!) Truly one of/if not the better of the MANY DQ's I've been too. (Funny to drive past (2) TWO other {1 food and ice cream place, . And 1 just ice cream) and see people, even sometimes waiting in line. (Food not that good. Ice cream 3-5 times the price...but they can BE SEEN "!) The ego gets fed too, "Look, we're somebody, we are at xxxxxxx).). Just have to laugh. Then some go to DQ, thinking cheaper, but get mad because they aren't bowed too upon entry. (Everyone one on them should be slapped upon entry. It's like they think since it's "JUST a DQ", they can be as rude as (normal) or as they want to get. And expect ABOVE exceptional service. And, if the staff were paid by the customers (basically demanding their orders) then never even saying "Thank you" (understanding it's not in their vocabulary), They'd be the best paid/tipped staff around. With work/family and other travel...I cover a minimum of 11 counties, and sometimes, up to 19 in a week. Regardless the county/restaurant, when you come back to/through "chur-kee".....(Cherokee) you can count on/bet on, more demanding, more rude, more childish "supposedly adults", and feeling SOOOOOOO entitled. "WHAT!? I spent $2 .31 here, and you're not going to kiss my butt?" OOOOOH....if all the "important" people that SAID/threatened they'd never be back here...(or other places), because they didn't get a trophy or plaque each visit, would ACTUALLY not "be back", SURE, sales that day would be down almost $7.43, but it'd be a MUUUUUUCH better experience for the staff AND the other (decent/clean/learned) customers!!!! Thanks DQ staff! You've been amazing MANY/EVERY time, for the 5 years I've known you were there. ALWAYS a pleasant, CURRENT experience/order!!!!! (****PLUS.....they don't have Faux News blaring/lying Everytime you go, so you can also enjoy/appreciate that part too!)
