Quick stop for a coffee fix while we were apartment viewing and saw this was the closest spot to us. Parking is readily available on the street and close the Franklin square. Upon entry, everything was super clean! It wasn't busy and most patrons were quietly studying or working on the side like any casual coffee spot here in the Bay Area. We ordered a raspberry matcha and their ube latte. The matcha didn't really have a raspberry taste and tasted bitter from the matcha. The ube latte was a lot more tasty with a slight ube taste. Overall, a really great spot to grab some coffee and study or work in the back.

I loved this cozy coffee spot on the corner of a neighbouring district! There are many small cute details like nice fresh flowers or non-plastic cutlery. I tried latter and tiramisu. Desserts are on a higher than average price range, but really good. Service is friendly and fast! There are 2 restrooms available, lots of street parking nearby, outdoor tables, plenty of space, free wi-fi and delicious desserts!

We first discovered What Coffee at a Lunar New Year event and were impressed enough to visit the café before heading back to LA. We're so glad we did. Parking can be a bit tough since it's mostly street parking, but if you're lucky, you might find a spot right by the café. It's worth the small hassle. The atmosphere is great. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably hang out, study, catch up with friends, or just stop in for a quick bite and coffee. The space feels welcoming and relaxed without being too loud. We ordered a hot matcha latte and the matcha mousse cake. The cake was light and not too sweet, which we really appreciated. It had a smooth texture and paired perfectly with the drink. As for the matcha latte, you can definitely taste the matcha, which I love. It wasn't overly milky or watered down. It had that rich, earthy flavor that true matcha fans look for. Overall, a cozy spot with quality drinks and desserts. We would definitely come back again if in the area.

Headed over to WhatCoffee based on the yelp reviews and I'm very happy I did! Jawn helped me at the register. Soft spoken and knowledgeable. They were slow at the moment and he took time to tell me about the pastries and the pistachio croissant (which is what they're most know for). He also explained a new drink they just started offering which is a vanilla, honey, cinnamon latte. I of course tried it! Very balanced and not too sweet, definitely recommend. He also mentioned they do everything in house and roast their own beans. Ambiance was quiet for a coffee shop with one other guest working on his laptop. Everything was very clean. In my opinion, this is a gem in the local community and definitely worth a stop!

What a cute little coffee shop! They have a really awesome mural on the back wall I wanted to take a pic of but there was always someone sitting in front of it and I didn't want to bother anyone. There is only street parking, but I was able to find a spot at the end of the street, or there's a parking lot across the street where the other shops are. The ube lattes only come as iced. It was really good, but the ube flavor is very light. Barely noticed it. Coffee flavor was good though. The pistachio pastry was perfectly crumbly and flavorful. They have 2 restrooms. One has an employee only sign that I didn't notice when I used it. Ooops. Both restrooms are nice and clean. Staff was friendly. I loved seeing a decent flow of customers, some to hang out with friends, some just sitting to read or do work. Overall, it has a nice chill vibe. When I'm in the area, I'd go back.

Wide open space, clean and bright display case with goodies. Lots of available seating.

Fantastic little coffee shop with a selection of pastries and breakfast menu. I had a latte and the pulled pork sandwich. I really enjoyed the presentation (2 thin slices of oranges and a salad with blackberries in addition to the sandwich). The overall vibe was really chill and quiet. Other than the quiet chatter of people talking and the occasional hello from the person welcoming people in it was a balm to the soul. I dont want this place to get too popular because I dont think there are enough staff but as is this is an absolute gem of a coffee shop with smooth coffee (,no burned beans ) and delightful food.

Apparently this coffee shop has been here for a year, but I only recently found out because I was looking to get coffee in the area. I don't think they have their own private parking but there were some street parking available. The inside was pretty nice and seemed like a good place to get work done. I wanted to try the grape shaken cold brew but they ran out, so I got a tiramisu latte instead and a pistachio croissant. The service for the coffee was a bit slower than I thought it would be. When I got my coffee, the worker realized she forgot to put espresso in my drink and quickly fixed it for me. The pistachio croissant was buttery and flaky and had a rich pistachio flavor that I really enjoyed!

Discovered this coffee shop and bakery at a recent event I attended (Hayward Night Market) where I tried a yummy savory treat from their food stand. This past Sunday, just a week later, I visited the Santa Clara cafe and had a positive experience once again. Loved the bright and modern space with unique light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and a variety of comfy seating options for guests (both indoor and outdoor tables available). Service at the front counter was friendly and efficient. There were no labels in the display case so I had to ask about some of the items, and the employee was patient and professional in answering my questions. I ended up ordering an iced mocha, ham and cheese croissant, and banana walnut muffin. The iced mocha was sweet and smooth, the croissant was flaky and served at room temp directly from the display case, and the banana nut muffin was moist and full of flavor. What's more, I appreciated the free wifi and easy parking right outside the entrance, adding to the convenience of paying a visit.

Nice, cute coffee shop in Downtown San Jose. Stopped by before work and couldn't tell if they were open around 7am-- didn't see anyone inside and all the lights were off. One of the regulars encouraging me to just walk in. Ordered a flat white. Good quality espresso served in a fun ceramic cup. Ambiance is conducive to read, study or come by with a friend. The pastries were added to the display case a bit after opening.

I wasn't planning on coming here but what a pleasant surprise it was! I came in and the barista was kind and has very welcoming energy. I ordered a pistachio and white chocolate matcha cookie, it was so fire. They warmed it up and it wasn't too sweet so it was just what I was looking for. It's pretty busy for a Friday when I visited, I plan to come back here to study and do work!

    Tiramisu Latte and Lavender Latte
    Marilyn P.

I came here to do some light studying, and I loved it! It was spacious with great natural lighting, and it usually doesn't get too crowded in the mornings. The coffee was a solid 3/5! The Tiramisu latte was sweet, and the lavender latte was yummy, nothing crazy but definitely something I would order again. I also love their pastries especially the Almond croissant!

    Ube latte
    Vicky L.

Came to get some work done and vibes are pretty cute, very bright and nice lighting. No outlets though. Which I don't really expect all coffee shops to. The coffee was pretty good! It was a bit more milky than I prefer but loved the ube foam on top VERY ubey. Hoping I get to try the pastries next time!

I visited this coffee shop after seeing its 4-star rating and was excited to try a new place,…read moreespecially because I was looking for somewhere with spacious seating. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing, particularly when it came to customer service. When my party of three approached the counter, the woman in the black top with short hair, who appeared to be the owner or manager, finished taking the order of the customer ahead of us but did not acknowledge or greet us. I stood there waiting while my party and I looked toward her, but there was no acknowledgment or indication that someone would be with us shortly. Eventually, my mother had to ask another employee, who was working on the other side of the counter, for assistance with the pastries. That employee was the one who eventually assisted us and took our order. I asked whether we could choose a seat and have our order brought to us, and she nodded yes. I also left a tip when paying for our order. When our drinks and pastries were ready, the curt short hair black top woman called out loudly on our order at the pickup area. I found this a little odd given that I had specifically asked whether the order would be brought to our table, but I went ahead and picked everything up myself and brought it to our table. About 30 minutes later, I noticed that the same employee personally carried a drink and pastry to another customer who had arrived after us and was seated behind us. At that point, I was confused about why service seemed inconsistent. We had been told to pick up our own order, and we also had to clear/manage our own table, yet another customer who arrived later was being served at his table. I initially decided not to make an issue of it because I had seen other customers picking up their own orders as well. What bothered me most, however, was what happened with my elderly mother when she needed to use the restroom. She knocked twice but received no response, so she asked a staff member for the restroom key. She was told that someone might be inside. After waiting a couple of minutes, it turned out that the person inside was actually a staff member. My mother asked why the employee hadn't simply responded when she knocked, especially since she was waiting to get access to the restroom. The employee in the black top ignored her and walked away without responding. As a customer, I found the overall interaction to be extremely unfriendly and lacking in basic hospitality. I also couldn't help but notice that my party was the only Chinese/Vietnamese group in the coffee shop at the time. I cannot say what anyone's intentions were, but the inconsistent treatment left me uncomfortable and made me question whether we were being treated differently. A business in the hospitality industry should make all customers feel welcome, regardless of their background or ethnicity. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived until we left, the customer service was close to nonexistent and there was very little friendliness or acknowledgment toward us. The space itself is spacious and looks nice at first glance, but the interior is not particularly well maintained if you look closely. I'm honestly unclear how this place has a 4-star rating based on my experience. The poor customer service and lack of basic courtesy left a bad taste in my mouth. I came here intending to support a new local business, but based on this experience, I would not recommend this coffee shop and do not plan to return. If you're going to operate a business in hospitality, customer service should be one of the fundamentals. A little acknowledgment, courtesy, and consistency would have made a significant difference.

We checked in and were seated right away, and the setup was absolutely beautiful! They brought out our tea first, which we enjoyed while waiting for the pastry tower to arrive. Each bite was delicious, everything tasted freshly baked and made, and I especially loved that the pastries weren't overly sweet. Although we enjoyed eating the tower from top to bottom, next time we would probably go from bottom to top since we like to save our sweets for last! Of course, we couldn't leave without getting more pastries to bring home. They have plenty of classic pastries, like croissants, along with more unique specialties, like their croissant cube. Everything looked and tasted so fresh, with that perfect flaky, crackly texture. The pastries are a little pricey for bakery items, but in my opinion, they're definitely worth it for the quality and freshness. Ordered: Dark Iced Chocolate Mocha and Nitro Cold Brew Bathroom: Yes WiFi: Yes This was our second time visiting and while we went into it with high expectations because of how much we enjoyed our visit (2 years ago), we did notice a dip in customer service and beverage quality. The espresso shot used in the iced mocha was not fully dialed to hit that balanced note that we are used to. The cold brew tasted more muddy than the previous time. Overall, the customer service seemed more like us inconveniencing the team, as opposed to being welcomed into the space. We noticed after we ordered our drinks, a line formed, and no one was available to take orders for customers due to behind the counter conversations that seemed more important than serving customers. There were two gentlemen who had been there approximately 10 minutes before us, and went to the pick up station three times to see if their orders were ready (multiple customers got their coffee and tea drinks before them). A quick note on the customer service - as someone who worked in food service for a number of years, I could empathize with teams that deal with high volume of customers. However, what separates good from great customer service is the ability to communicate with your customer when times are busy, as opposed to ignoring them. There are seated areas but fill up quickly, and they do have an outdoor space to hangout as well. If I'm in the plaza area and need a coffee, after this experience, we would debate before going.

Kenny and the staff are extremely kind and caring, and even when the place fills up they deliver excellent service. However, I thought the food we ordered was just ok. Ordered the #1 (Breakfast burrito), #5 (breakfast sandwich). Both items' composition was not the best. They were wrapped with the wrapping paper that didn't securely hold the entire sandwich/burrito securely. Especially for the sandwich, the cheese and meat were easily spilling out from the sides. The burrito was standard, but I felt the same way more or less regarding its structure. Additionally, the flavor was ok and good at best. The meal came with red salsas, which look to be house made since it was clear there is pickled onions and some other little things in it. Honestly it is an ok salsa, I'm not sure if this particular flavor is what I'm looking for to complement a breakfast burrito normally. We had an OK experience. The restaurant seems like a fairly small shop (run by family)! While I'm all for supporting local and mom/pop shops, I probably would not wait over 15 minutes for it. Maybe will have to try the bulgogi items next time! But for breakfast burrito/sandwich it was just ok to me.

The place is both spacious and small? The hallway of merch is always fun to see. I love the split wing layout. You can buy drinks and sit in the front area, or shop and play games in the back. It's interesting. I also like that they test out their drinks. You are able to order from their menu of course, but they will give you the option of one of their experimental stuff! I did this last time and had quite a bit of fun! I haven't had a chance to get here for board games and such. But I do like their merch selection. I like that you can read manga as well and I love that they have monthly events you can participate in! Really hoping to get a chance to come here more often!

A hallway with some art you could buy from artists and some official merchandise from well known games like ZZZ or so on? I took a good look at the food/drinks offered here, they look okay (prices a bit high) I wouldn't exactly call it a reason for coming here? It also happened to be a some sort of Beyblade event going on? Very cool, I wasn't aware people are into this franchise as of 2026. It's worth visiting at least once, the events they offer are just about a few same types? Maybe if they offer more specific events types besides the usual, I wouldn't mind paying one more visit

Customers usually come in, grab what they need, pay, and head out, which keeps things moving smoothly. One of the best things about this bakery is the incredible variety of pastries and breads. Whether you're craving something sweet or savory, there's plenty to choose from: melon pan, loaf bread, dinner rolls, chow mein bread, spaghetti bread, sweet potato bread, crab and roe bread, tomato bread, apple pie, and so much more. Don't skip the refrigerated section either! They carry fruit sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, fried bread, donuts, somen noodles in a cup, and other delicious grab-and-go items. They also offer rice balls and drinks that can be ordered at the register. If you're in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. Small businesses like this deserve our support!

Clover Bakery & Cafe is a small Japanese-style bakery and café that feels like the kind of…read moreneighborhood spot you randomly discover and keep coming back to. We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.
