Guys and gals, I have issues. Let me set the tone, and give you the deets. You decide the validity of my rating. This is specofic to the special events section, NOT the main facility. Last weekend, my older brother FINALLY tied the knot. That man was on a mission, and he accomplished it. He wanted to keep it small and sweet. He chose the banquet room of Whiskey Cakes. We had a run through, all items were discussed. Done. So the day of, we arrived at the time specified, and the party before us wasn't even packing up yet. Mind you, they have event coordinator to handle such matters. And they didn't. So we started late. Members of the party had to help set up, and adjust the seating us it was not going well as left up to the facility staff. I can't blame the employees, as they have a coordinator who should have been.... coordinating. You know, titles and the such. After the lovely service performed by the honerable minister Walker, we were ready for food. They didn't bring out salad for everyone and had to be repeatedly reminded. Mind you, most of the seats were filled and should only have required a seat or head count. OR, they could have counted how many folks ordered dinner and used that (we ordered in advance of the service). From my count there were four different appetizers. These were not provided in enough quantity for the group. Nor were they distributed in any logical fashion. I was only served one. Again, they knew the numbers and should have done it right. We brought 3 cases of wine for the dinner. By the main course, none of it had been served. In any wedding setting, you put out glasses at every seat. You don't need to ask, you do it. Also, when asked they stated they did not have enough wine glasses... What's the point of reserving a venue in advance and doing a run through? Should this not have been an item to bring up? So we had wine glasses, martini glasses and what looked to be margarita glasses. Again, we had to ask them to distribute 3 bottles for every so many guests in a section. Things an event coordinator shoukd be doing. Not me, or any of the guests for that matter. The Duck, came out very good. The sirloin was dry and over cooked for what was supposed to be medium. I did not try the salmon, and no one near me did either. So no comment there. Dessert was good though. We did not bring this to my brother or my now sister-in-law's attention, we managed it. The bar staff and facility staff were in and out. But they were very responsive and courteous. I feel like they did a great job, though a bit stressed. I feel like they didnt get the guidance they needed. Lovely venue, needs work on coordination. I'd come back to try the main facility. read more

First time I came here for dinner it was a 5 star experience. Just left here after having lunch and it was a 2 star experience...so I average it at 3 stars. I ordered the pork brisket and had to send it back because the meat was pretty tough. I ordered the duck breast instead which was lovely but a little undercooked for my taste. I ordered it medium but it looked med rare, but still pretty tasty. Then a lovely gentleman (I'm thinking the manager) stopped to apologize and offered to buy us a whiskey cake on the house which I said we would be taking to go. The service from our waitress after our food was dropped off by the manager was scarce which was a little disappointing. Maybe the waitress was busy but there were several times we were waiting for her to come by and it took a while. Then when we got our check my husband didn't look at it and just handed over his credit card thinking that the Whiskey cake would automatically be comped like the manager said but unfortunately when we checked the receipt after we already paid, we were charged for the Whiskey cake. Not a huge deal but with my first entree being inedible, the lack of quality service, and being charged for something that we were told would be comped the experience was less than perfect. Their farm to table concept is incredible. They don't have any freezers in their restaurant so everything is prepared fresh every single day and you can really tell. ⁣ ⁣ Our server Libby was amazing! Very kind and knowledgeable. We tried their Winchester 95 and Western Rye'Der whiskey cocktails. Both were good but I much preferred the Winchester, which had rosé in it. I got Thai Duck Wings and Mac and Cheese and my boyfriend had their Pork Brisket over cheddar Jack grits with pickled green tomatoes. It was all fresh and I'm packed with flavor. ⁣ But the best part was the restaurants namesake--the whiskey cake! It was a gooey toffee torte with bourbon, spiced pecans and house-made vanilla whipped cream. ⁣ This place is so good! Come for the food, stay for the view. This spot is a total gem! Farm-to-table food, craft cocktails with great bartenders, education and phenomenal service! The staff pay close attention to detail, and make their customers feel like a million bucks! The service staff are perfectly attentive without being bothersome and their management is above and beyond! I travel a lot for work, and when staff take time to care about why you're there, and customize your experience, it takes the experience to the next level. The chefs clearly know what they're going! Flavor profiles were unique and well layered, without being complex just for the sake of complexity. The bartenders know their whiskey, their Mixolgost and can keep you entertained without being overproduced. Five stars isn't even a high enough rating for this place. I was in Houston visiting family and was told I had to visit Whiskey Cake. The decor and ambiance is adorable. It feels like your grandma is cooking you dinner in her quaint little farmhouse. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was amazing. What really impressed me was the Mac and cheese, it was arguably the best I've ever had. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles, something I would never even consider ordering, or even trying a bite of for that matter. After one bite, I was in love. I'm literally STILL thinking about it and it's been a week now. By far one of my dishes I've ever tasted. They have a nice selection of fresh juices or mocktails, I had the ruby slippers and it was delicious. They juice everything there and even make their own simple syrup. You can taste the difference in the mocktail as it didn't take like a cheap store bought simple syrup and bottle of juice mixed together. You could taste the freshness. My boyfriend, a bourbon enthusiast, had a bourbon flight and loved everything he tried. They had a very lengthy list of bourbons you could try and he was quite impressed. We tried the Whiskey Cake as well, you have to, it's their signature! It was delicious but very dense and heavy, as well as sweet. After a few bites I was full. Between four of us, we only finished about half. Comes served with fresh whipped cream as well. Definitely need to try it, but be prepared to take some home. Service was great as well. Our waitress was very friendly and bartenders were very knowledge about the extensive bourbon list. This review is long, and I could go on and on, but Whiskey Cake deserves this GLOWING review. Some of my acquaintances mentioned this place when it opened and raced about their food, service, atmosphere and drinks and he always wanted to try it. My daughter and I decided it was time to have brunch and were very excited to give it a shot. The restaurant was clean, smelled pleasant and they practiced social distancing in their seating arrangement which was nice. The drink was delicious and I will probably sit by the bar to have it again. The staff was attentive and friendly. The reason I'm giving them 3 stars is that the waitress was stretched very thinly, it's not her fault of course. Although she was juggling more than I'm sure any waitress/waiter can handle, she maintained a bubbly personality and although she had a mask I was able to tell that she had a smile on the whole time we were there. She was informative on the menu items and helped me pick my meal when I was unsure between my choices. A+ to her! The food is the main reason for 3 stars. My ultimate brunch item of choice is Eggs Benedict and I was disappointed with the flavor and consistency of textures. My daughter unfortunately had to return her order as she couldn't enjoy the flavors of the dish. The manager kept checking on us which is move and we told her why we were disappointed with the item ordered. She was very courteous, listened and seemed as she took the feedback constructively and was receptive to our views on it. I had the Steak Frites and the steak was very well prepared and cooked medium as I asked. The red wine I ordered by the glass was tasty. This place was gets 5-stars because of the amazing service received above all else, but I'll break down the food and service reviews. I'll start with the food. Food: We ordered a French press coffee, deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, French toast, and a whiskey cake. The French press coffee is always super fresh and delicious. The deviled eggs, though delicious, coke out very cold.. almost as if they've been sitting in the fridge prior to serving. And some people might enjoy that but I prefer them a bit closer to room temp. They have what tastes like caramelized bacon so they are a bit on the sweet side. Shrimp & Grits are definitely the star of the show! Omg, they're super tasty and delicious No complaints there. The French Toast was good but a tad disappointing given that it was swimming in whatever sauce they put on it and had more whipped cream than bread (not joking). I didn't plan on reviewing so I didn't take a picture because it looked as disappointing as it sounds.. However, after shoveling the vast amount of whipped cream from the top, the toast, itself, was very tasty. I guess you can just ask for the sauce and whipped cream on the side if you order this The Whiskey cake was suuuper delicious! Not sure what kind of bread it was but it was so good. The roasted pecans just made it all much better! Now the Service.. I came here with my wife and baby for the second time. My server was Cruz. Though I'm not a fan of making small talk, especially while eating, Cruz was very funny. He made the entire experience very wonderful. He took all requests with the best attitude and was sure to make us laugh each time he popped in. Then the manger, Aaron, dropped in to check in on us. He also took the time to make the experience a little more personal and memorable. After expressing that it was our second time eating there and hadn't tried their famous whiskey cake, he insisted that we try it, which we stated that we had every intention to this time. Being the sweet man that he is, he insisted that it was on him. Something we definitely did not anticipate. Again, if it's not the few menu items that I enjoyed that brings me back, it's definitely the service and experience. My spouse told me about this spot the other day so today we decided to give it a try. Everything was amazing; From the atmosphere, to the service and food. I orders a mimosa, cinnamon roll pancake, bacon, eggs, and sausage. All we're well above my expectations. My spouse ordered the the chicken and cheese melt. This is his second time ordering it and he said it was still great. I'm also someone that's normally not crazy about cakes but thanks to Aaron(he recommended it) I'm glad we ordered it. Whiskey Cake has been on my bookmark list for a while now, and I'm so glad I finally got to try it. My friend and I went here on a Saturday brunch around 10:15 am. It wasn't full at all, but it does quickly fill up around 12 or 1 pm with parties and such. It's a pretty big place with its own parking lot, outdoor seating with a brick fireplace, and that Southern hipster vibe. Everything whiskey. I absolutely looooooove the liquor wall. It's like a liquor library complete with a sliding ladder like Beauty and the Beast...minus the books. Lol. They sell local honey, seasonings, candles, and soaps, too. This place really lives up to its dessert. It's the kind that'll give Better than Sex cake a run for its money. While I'm on this, I'll start with dessert first. The whiskey cake is toffee goodness with bourbon sauce, candied pecans, and vanilla bean whipped cream. Moist and everything. It is pretty sweet, but it pairs nicely with coffee or tea. Cocktails: Pineapple mimosa - Delicious...and strong. They make other juice flavors, too. The apps: Deviled eggs - Because they are farm to fork, their deviled egg concoctions change. They were doing a BLT concept that day. It was delicious. Very mustard based, though. I'd order that again. Fried green tomatoes - I love fried green tomatoes, so I try this dish everywhere I go that serves it. It was a little sour/tart but still tasty with the remoulade sauce. Brunch: Creme brulee french toast sliders - Our waiter said this was deceiving because there's actually no creme brulee in it. They were slider size burger buns cooked like french toast (fresh from their in house bakery) filled with whipped cream, candied pecans, and local peach jam. I asked for the jam on the side. The jam is what makes it sweet. I enjoyed it without the jam, but that's just my preference. Our waiter recommend the chicken & waffle. I'll have to go back for that. My friend ordered the Farmer's breakfast. That was on my list to try. I'm indecisive, and I love breakfast food, so I'll probably try it at some point. I did get to taste some of the cheddar and jalapeño biscuits, also made in house. So good! The restrooms: Gender friendly/unisex and handicap accessible. What I thought was unique was the separate pump room for nursing mothers. The communal sink area in the center is also pretty cool and industrial. And on top of all that, our waiter Dillan was the best. He was attentive and gave great recommendations, especially for our first time there. After our meal, we packed leftovers in the boxes and left them on the table to use the restroom. Sorry, but I'm not bringing my food to the restroom. Dillan noticed they threw it away, and we inquired at the hostess desk. They checked, and to make up for it, we got a free full order of deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and whiskey cake to go!!!!! I literally only had one deviled egg and fried green tomato in the box and half a whiskey cake in the other. Hands down the best customer service. read more

Exploring hipster brunch places have grown to be a real passion of mine. My friend and I started off with 2 hot chocolates. The classic was nothing special and would be easy to replicate at home. My Eggs Benedict had a nice kick and of course those perfect runny eggs. The sauce was nice and rich and the English muffin was nicely toasted. I wish the dish was warmer though. To satisfy my friend's sweet tooth, she ordered the Monte Cristo. The dish was so good. Though heavy, the dish incorporated sweetness of the fruit jam as well as the savoryness of the ham and cream cheese well. We couldn't have left without trying the restaurant's namesake, the whiskey cake. A fortress of dense tasty cake, the desert was surrounded by a moat of condensed milk and topped with roasted pecans. My tri-tip was done to perfection, loved the dipping sauce and the salad with chicken was really well done. My son loved the cheeseburger. Loved the chips, as well. I seriously wanted to give this place 5 stars. But holy WOW how they lost it. My wife and I decided to honor the whole COVID-19 and order in. Well, we order the deviled eggs, the chili, adult Mac and cheese, whiskey cake, and the chicken cheese melt sandwich with Tomato Basil Soup. Now, We live about 25 minutes from the restaurant. We get it home and dang, it all smells AMAZINGLY GOOD! Like OMG GOOD! Then boom, notice that they didn't give us all our food. Now, they close at 10pm and it's 9:15pm. So I call to tell them they missed my wife's chili and they tell me to come back OR wait till tomorrow. The hostess apologized and says that when I come, we would be getting a free cake for our trouble (50 min drive in total). So I speed there to make it before they close and wait ten minutes for her to bring me the food (minus the Cake). I notice and promptly ask and was told that it was 9:40pm and the kitchen won't do it for me since it is so late. Nothing. Super bad customer service on that part. Not the hostess fault. But the management and kitchen. I know dang well that a piece of desert won't hurt them. So I took 2 stars for the screw up and me having to waste gas and all my other food got cold and didn't taste as good being microwaved, and I took another 2 stars for the lack of transparency and the kitchen/management not honoring a simple task. I was so upset by all this I didn't take any pictures of the food. But ehhh it was alright. I wouldn't recommend it since the quality was minuscule due to me having to microwave everything. read more

September 2024 I had a great meal here, food was at an awesome price, was fair and service was great. I just ate here again Jan 2025, however, service was slow, order was wrong bill price was higher for an item by $2.00 than advertised on the menu. The recipe for devil eggs completely changed and the quantity went from 7 eggs to 5 eggs, and the price was higher. In addition, the quality of the food went down overall. I have to say my money would have been better spent elsewhere. I am very disappointed in the drop of quality, in both service and food. read more

We are so happy we discovered this place! The building is beautiful inside and out. Before going in , there was an amazing smell of wood smoked meats. Candles were burning a pleasant aroma when you walk in through the huge French doors. As for the food, I can't begin to say how impressed I was! First we had fresh juices in the cocktails. Delicious! The Angus steak burger with caramelized onions and melted fondue cheese over it was amazing! It had to be a half a pound of meat. The name of it was WTF Burger. Lol. We came for brunch on St. Patrick's Day on a Saturday. There aren't many people here and a TON of workers. Very hipster vibe and open concept atmosphere. The food was good. We got the strawberry shortcake French toast, which tastes like a fluffy dessert cake - crispy edges and fluffy center, rich strawberry drizzle with thin slices of strawberry on top. We also got the chicken and waffles and a pineapple mimosa. The chicken was tender and crispy, if a bit small, and the waffles were very healthy tasting and went well with the eggs on top. The mimosas was very strong and barely had a hint of pineapple taste. I am interested to enjoy more of the wide drink selections and normal food courses, which I hear great things about, and perhaps enjoy their cute patio and swinging chairs outside. However, the service was horrible. We were seated right away, but orders took forever. Our waitress disappeared for an eternity each time and we could never find her for anything. We asked for take out boxes and our bill at the same time. She gave us our box, but then took away all of our serving wear and vanished. We had to dump our food in the boxes and ask a different waiter for our check. Then waited another TEN minutes for her to pick up our check. We came here for an office dinner after work. We had a great time. We ordered a couple of the mini boards for the table. Which had this very interesting banana purée which was delicious. The bread was nice and warm, and the sausage was cheese and jalapeño which is always good. I ordered the grilled salmon which came with squash and zucchini. I also ordered and extra side of the mushrooms which were delicious! The Cabernet was good, I ordered the one off the happy hour menu and was quite pleased with it. Of course we had to order whiskey cake for the table. Hands down one of the best desserts I've had in a while. The service was great, and the bussers were so patient with our large group. Ok course there is a lot on the menu, but I will talk about Brunch. Let start off with the deviled, very tasteful not creamy nicely seasoned. I could of went for 2 orders. Then the take on the Monkey bread omg that was sooo good I could not stop eating it, knowing we still had more food coming. Now the drink definitely recommend the Hulk with some vodka always add a nice touch. I had the Croquet Madame It with fried egg. Egg was season nicely, for me the fried green tomato could of been a little more seasoned but other than that I was pleased. My friend had the stuffed French toast and she had no complaints she was only able to eat a half. Great brunch spot. Waitstaff was great, our waitress was very helpful once she new it was my 1st time she gave a lot of good recommendations. She did say when we come back we need to try the the Whiskey Cake. This places needs many changes. The menu is overpriced and the service is subpar. I ordered the OMG burger, which was okay. I asked for a few modifications to the burger, which were not honored. This place charges upscale dining prices, for average atmosphere and servicing. If you're going to be this expensive, then you must meet service and value expectations, otherwise, it is a ripoff. I also, ordered the signature whiskey cake. A few issues here... The cake tasted VERY eggy. The flavor was super unpleasant/not enjoyable because of the overwhelming presence of the egg... When eating a cake, eggy flavor pretty much ruins it. Felt like a waste of $10. Secondly, the cake was overly sweet. When not battling the flavor of egg, I was battling a sugar attack in my mouth. I did like the candied pecans & the whipped cream though. All in all, I won't be eating here again, and I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone in the future.
