Best country club in town hands down! My husband and I come every Friday and always have an amazing time! The drinks are always good and reasonably priced. The bartender knows what we want before we even ask ! On Fridays they have steak, potato and a salad for $12 and it is awesome!!! The Dj, DJ Damien is amazing. He loves to please the crowd and I appreciate that. He always asks for requests and plays them with no problem. Best Dj ever!!!!! The manager is super friendly and helpful, love him. I've been to bars all over the state and can't fathom how this is considered any sort of a honkytonk. There used to be a dress code and standards here but it's clear things have gone by the wayside. Came by for my first time with my wife for the New Year's party and absolutely enjoyed everything about this honky tonk. All staff was really friendly and polite, drinks where amazing and fairly cheap. Our bartender was knowledgeable and very attentive with us. My wife speaks very little English so it helped having the bartender be able to communicate with her and recommended all these new drinks. To the tall Hispanic bartender upstairs thank you for all the help and will definitely be coming back on a more regular basis. read more

We were enjoying ourselves as a family, until an employee approached us and abruptly and rudely told us that we should leave the table, because it was reserved, I told him that it didn't matter, that we would move, but he should be more courteous and that he was being too rude. The employee, without saying a word, took me by the arm and pushed me to the exit of the premises and threw me to the ground. Now I have serious lower back pain and I must check with a doctor, I'm going to get a lawyer to file a lawsuit for mistreatment. I do not recommend this site at all. I'm writing this review so people can know how this place is since COVID. We came in 9:30 on a Saturday night and had to pay a $10 cover charge. It's no longer free before 10:00. Bought 2 shiners, now $6.25 apiece. Everyone is supposed to wear masks unless eating or drinking. No one at all had on masks but staff. We sat on the patio. Crowd was light outside, much more packed inside. The music is where this place really could improve! If I come to a country bar I really want to hear some country not J-Lo and other garbage. Very disappointed at the humiliating we were put through tonight. My uncle recommended this place to us so we make plans with family in Houston to come down from Dallas to have a good time. My wife and I went dancing at this bar on 04-21-19 and I bought two drinks less than 14 bucks on my credit card. I left a $3 tip in cash and the next day I see my credit card was charged $20. Usually I wouldn't care and keep on pushing, but that is what bar tenders want you to do. I hope people read this and take that into consideration when paying at this bar. read more

We pulled up and used valet, (one of the people we went with had some kind of platinum card) if you dont have valet you have to park far as hell away. YES! YES! YES! So, I only dragged my boyfriend here because it was our last night in Texas, and I wasn't leaving the Lone Star State without visiting a crazy bar and riding a mechanical bull. Check. Place is awesome. Every dude there is in a cowboy hat and jeans, every waitress is in half a tanktop, every girl is a southern belle, and every couple on the dancefloor is dancing away to country music in a circle, like in old movies! Probably one of the best "nightclubs" I have ever been too... From the bouncer at the door to the restroom attendant... Everyone(staff) is so nice and welcoming. Waitresses are great and service is speedy at the bars. Not to mention the beer tubs when you don't feel like going to the bar. The music is great and they play a variety... Ahh! Parking at this place was insane! Even valet was filled to the MAX!! But then again, I didn't arrive until midnight on a Saturday so maybe that was my fault for arriving a whole hour after my buds! I'm always the late bird, shame on me...lol... First timer at yet another country dance bar. Makes me want to go on a mission to visit all of them in Texas. Lol. Coming here on a Saturday night around 9 pm was pretty chill. There were a lot of birthdays and celebrations going on, but it seemed empty. The crowd was older, but they sure can dance and aren't afraid to try something new and make up line dances to club music! It can be a little more intimidating with people mainly watching along the edges of the dance floor when there's only a few couples dancing. The dance floor is a square/rectangular shape compared to Big Texas' circle. It started to fill up more around 10-11 pm. I learned a few new line dances, which was cool. The drinks are cheap until 10 or 11 pm, depending on the day, but they also announce other specials as the night goes on to the wee hours of the morning. My friends and I mingled with some firefighters, and one of them mentioned that he had to change out of his 'Stros jersey and wear something more appropriate. Really? That's crazy. I have read that strange dress code on a few of the Yelp reviews here, though. Anyway, firefighters get in free without cover, so that's a plus. The dance floor can get so packed that you often bump into people. There's more booth seating here. No karaoke or pool tables, but they do have a mechanical bull. It's free, and the operator runs on tips. You have to sign a waver, and boots/shoes aren't allowed in the inflatable bull pen. He starts off slow, does a booty shake, and then starts spinning the bull faster. You really have to hold on and straddle that bull with your legs!! Lol. I was the only one from my group brave enough to try it. I must say I was a little nervous at first, but I lasted 37 seconds or so. It was fun! I'd do it again to try to beat my time. Haha. Downside, most of the parking is shared with BJ's restaurant in the back lot, unless you choose to valet. Aaaaaand, there's more club music here than country. I must give credit where it's due! I came the other night to Whiskey River and had a blast! It was my second time here and I'm definitely coming back! I love the late night kitchen here! The kitchen manager Chris personally came out and spoke to me and recommended me the tacos and was nice enough to buy them for me. They were absolutely delicious! One of the best country bars (if not the best) in Houston. This place is tucked away right off of 249/1960 and is super hard to get into because whoever designed the parking lot around the mall was on drugs apparently. Parking can get pretty packed (they offer valet) but I've parked across the street before in other bar parking lots and have never been towed. Dress code is a big deal at this bar so that means no camouflage, obscene tattoos, baggy clothes etc. This is a non-smoking bar on the inside with a patio for smokers. The inside DJ plays different music than the outside one which is cool. The lighting is perfect and music is always a good mix between hip-hop and country. Overall, this bar has a good mix of people of all ages! Very fun bar to come to on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Check out their website for specials and coming before 10pm usually means better prices on drinks, although they're already pretty great as it is. I went there with my boyfriend and couple of friends and it was my first time going to a country music club. It was very nice and interesting. The main dance floor reminded me of an ice skating floor. Everyone was running circle so smoothly. During the break of country music, they also put on the hip hop theme for few minutes. There are a lot of people there but since the place is pretty big, I didn't feel crowded at all. Bartenders are very nice and efficient without making you feel bad ordering drinks while it was so busy. However, there is a $7 cover to get into the club. Large patio for smokers with non-country music playing for the non-bootscootin' people. If you feel like getting your country on in NW Houston, WR is a good choice. The music mix is closer to 80% country 20% other most days, sometimes you get a higher precentage of hip hop. A pretty good mix. There is an outdoor as well as indoor dance floor. The DJs get the people moving, both inside and out and are generally good at reading their crowd. Lots of beautiful women. It gets pack on Saturdays, most other days are pretty tame. The do have a dress code to keep the riff raff out, mainly no shorts..... They can be pretty strict to fairly lenient, It depends on the amount of ladies in your party, like most places! There is a cover, and parking is plentiful. read more
