White Castle might just be the best fast food restaurant there is. I finally made my way to the Castle of White and I was not disappointed. I ordered cheeseburger sliders, breakfast slider, fries, chicken rings, hash browns, fish nibblers, and a shake. The price is insanely cheap this meal cost only $18. The fries were good, they were crispy and flavorful. The chicken rings were great, they were seasoned perfectly and the texture was awesome. The hash browns were small, but packed a punch of flavor. The fish nibblers were fresh and coated to perfection. The breakfast slider was delicious, the egg and sausage was cooked perfectly. The bun was crispy and flavorful. The shake was a little thick, but had good flavor. Now onto the cheeseburger sliders. They are maybe the best sliders I've ever ate. The bun was toasted and flavors I can't explain poured through. The burger was juicy and the cheese was melted perfectly. The fried onions and pickles brought it all together. These burgers have something in them that changes you. After I ate them I felt amazing. Of course I did it because of the movie and hey, I happened to be in the area and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Nothing. The fuss was over nothing. I received some coupons for "get five sliders,get 5 free" so I took the bait and asked myself why not? The restaurant was actually really clean and the young kid that took my order was very articulate and nice. The sliders were really standard but I enjoyed the Miniature corn dogs (AKA Nibblers). They were made fresh ( at least for me) and were hot. Surely hit the spot for a quick grab and go. The meal turned to be quite ideal for me as it turned out to be Crazy day at work and I found myself munching on a slider between clients. HaHa. I thing I did notice was the fact the Manager actually walked around and talked the customers ( Sort of how Chefs from Fancy Restaurants walked around and schmooze to their customers). "They ---- you at the drive-thru" As I live in San Diego, I don't get to have White Castle that often, so when I do it's a treat. And I'm a stickler about my order - very basic, the original - 6 (or 8) slyders. And I want them just the way I ordered them. No ketchup, no mustard - just bun, grease patty, onions and pickle. When I was younger, had a more caste iron stomach (as opposed to the huge stomach I currently sport) and I drank like an idiot, White Castle was worth a trip every week or two. We used to go to the Barn and then we'd come out with a hankering for something really bad. White Castle was all that was open in the immediate area. The food at White Castle is awful. Oh, it is tasty when you first eat it, but then you burp an hour and a half later and you realize just how bad it is. The next day you realize that you ate at White Castle. A week later your fingers still smell of White Castle and you are still bringing up the taste after you burp. I would still recommend that you eat at White Castle. It's a rite of passage for anyone. Assuming that most people know the entity that is White Castle, my review is mainly about the drive-through service. Two words - it's slow. Schedule about 7 minutes for a drive-through order (based on 5 drive-through visits) - more if you happen to be coming from the west (in which case you'll have to make the u-turn onto 59 West). Wendy's on the other end of 59 has my small order done in 5 minutes, usually. I'm sure the staff is doing the best they can, so I'll wait for a $5 sack meal of 4 "slyders" plus fries and a 21 oz. drink. The fries are really well-made here - among the 2 best fast-food fries in the area. If you order by credit/debit card, the drive-through window has a card reader so you never have to relinquish your card to the staff to pay for your meal. Nice touch. read more

However the last handful of times that we have gone there the food has been subpar and not up to the quality standards we expect from White Castle. The restaurant itself felt like the fast food joint time forgot. It wasn't bad or anything, it just wasn't the epic holy grail of burgers some have made it out to be. Ok lets face it-YOU KNOW WHY YOU ATE HERE! You pig! Me too. Its 5 star until a few hours afterwards but you always come back dont you? Me too. Scary but when you get the CRAVE-you really get the CRAVE. I have recently have only been able to do 10 cheeseburgers-my record in my youth was 15 and thats nothing compared to many others here. But always just get a small fry-just to offset some of the burger and while you cant stomach a shake with that many burgers-just drive by and get a shake alone-they are pretty good here. I have never had any interest in anything other than the burgers and thats good enough for those moments when I am too weak and GOTTA have em! I had an awful experience at this White Castle last night. My girlfriend and I were craving some sliders and onion rings so we got really excited and drove up. I placed my order, about $20 worth of food. We drove up to the window and the attendant handed me my sofa and asked what sauces I would like. I told her and she went to get our food. Ten minutes passed by and I was considering driving off but I already paid. Another five minutes pass by and the car behind me did drive off. A moment after that car left, the attendant opened the window and, surprised, asked "you're still here?!" I said yes, I'm hungry. She handed me my bag of food and said that she didn't prepare the bag so she doesn't know if the sauces I asked for are in there (they weren't). I was very frustrated but excited to finally eat. We dug in and enjoyed everything until the last slider. I took a bite into and felt something so I stopped to inspect it. A long black hair was embedded in my slider. Now I'm questioning everything I just ate and still feel very sick. Why did she ask if I was still there? Did she tamper with my food and hope if she hid long enough I would drive away? What else was in the food that I didn't notice? A hair in food is a common, sometimes forgivable mistake but paired with a fifteen minute wait and "you're still here?!" I will never eat White Castle again and I suggest no one order from this White Castle. read more
