Had the most amazing leisurely lunch here today! Loved the ambiance right from the start- modern, crisp, clean, white. They offer complimentary flat or sparkling water which is a nice touch. We also enjoyed the savory flavored popcorn, which we devoured and was a nice break from starting a meal with bread! For appetizers we shared the Korean cauliflower (OMG wow you must try this! Unreal flavor and perfect char) and we also got the harvest salad to share. It was exactly what we wanted and hit the spot. Entrees we had the burger, duck tacos (which is an app my mom ate as her main), and my sister had the veggie tartine and tomato Brie soup. We didn't leave a lick on our plates! The burger was seriously SO good. Such a good flavor to the meat. Each dish had some kind of extra sauce or dressing that really made the dish stand out. White maple cafe is a nice edition to the ever growing landscape of Ridgewood NJ's downtown area. I've been here a couple of times and it was generally satisfying. By far the best dish I've had here was the polenta. I was truly amazing; way out of anything else's league that I tried there. Please do yourself a favor and order it! The decor inside is very nice, modern and hip. The fact that they are byob is also an added bonus. I would definitely go back to White Maple, maybe not in the immediate future, but I am curious to taste some more dishes. read more

Very impressive restaurant! My friends and I made reservations here for a Friday night. Apparently, this place is poppin because the only available slot was 5:45. Anyways, this is a cute little place, emphasis on little, that has a rustic type vibe to it. For starters- in place of the customary free bread, this restaurant gives free popcorn! It was seriously some of the best popcorn I've ever had. I was trying to pinpoint exactly which spices they used but was unable to figure it out. For an appetizer we shared the fig and riccotta flatbread. This actually comes with fresh figs. You can taste the difference. The appetizer itself was good, but I thought the popcorn was better. Well, I am happy to say I DO know the quality of the food here now, and it is excellent! A return trip resulted in a fine dining experience all around. The owner, Ryan, was affable and gracious, visiting tables to greet his guests, and our server, Jade, could not have been more friendly, efficient, or attentive. The Tomato and Brie Bisque was creamy and flavorful, and my husband's Harvest Salad was fresh and tossed with a excellent vinaigrette. We also enjoyed the Herby Ricotta Board, which featured crusty sourdough bread and pear chutney. Entrees did not disappoint -- the hangar steak was tender and cooked perfectly to order and the scallops, served on a bed of risotto, were sweet and nicely grilled. I wanted to try something new, as I was in town. I was hoping this would have unique dishes, but it was alright. They had all the basic stuff an American​ restaurant would have. The only unique thing they served was the seasoned popcorn as an initial appetizer. I got the beef burger (grass fed) and it came with your choice of fries and ketchup and a special sauce. Nothing fantastic, but it tasted good nonetheless​. The wait although was a little long, I ordered and got my food 40 minutes later... a little crazy for a burger and some fries. Price was average but definitely not worth the food. Overall, I'd go here again only if I got invited, but isn't a favorite. This place isn't bad, came here as soon as it opened in the morning. The staff seemed cool, my wife and I were tended to pretty well, although we were the only ones here for the first 20mins. We ate outside, the tables were a bit small. My wife and I both had the steak and eggs with chimichurri, it was very good. I got the pork sausage on the side, and I would definitely recommend it. The coffee is great here too. The peach cobbler was amazing. Came for lunch with friends on a Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm. The service was very good and the ambiance of the restaurant is simple and nice. We each ordered the half sandwich (chicken salad) with soup (tomato bisque) combination, which was excellent. However, it is hard to justify the $14 for the half sandwich and small bowl of soup (which was really about one measuring cup's worth of soup), other than the fact that it's Ridgewood (NJ) where they can get away with it. Were it not for what I feel is a way overpriced half sandwich and small bowl of soup, I would go back...but I won't, because there are other restaurants in nearby towns that serve the same quality food at a more reasonable price. read more

So stumbled upon this table to farm Place while grabbing some coffee and wow was it a find. The chicken is from Goffle farm which is halal for all the zabiha eaters. This means it's organic non gmo vegetarian fed free range chicken! The owner Ryan was very accommodating and cool. They have delicious seasoned popcorn. The crab cake sliders, the avocado toast, the chicken salad sandwich was amazing. Even the fries and salad was a burst of fresh goodness in your mouth! 2nd time at WM and just as good. Same crowd: me, Wife, 5-year-old. W got the arctic char this time. It was cooked to perfection, flavored well, and a decent portion to boot. Came with some squash which was good and something else i cant remember (perhaps because W did not share). I again had the burger which was delicious and i did not notice the relish being too sweet this time. The fries were, however, over-salted. 5YO devoured the duck taco. Came with 3 tacos and 5YO said next time she wants it with 4 or even 5 tacos (this was an appetizer portion that we ordered as an entry for her). Needless to say, she liked it. Two homemade sodas. The citrus ginger one was fine. Black cherry one was too sweet. I cut it with some water and just made a larger beverage, so no harm no foul (except for the duck). They also served us this warm rice/almond/evaporated milk beverage (cant recall name) which was nice. It would be perfect on any cool or snowy day, very comforting. Dessert: Artuffo (sp), pumpkin spiced creme brulee, and this cranberry corn cake. All were good. The creme brule was fantastic. And the artuffo had a pleasant juxtaposition of hot bitter espresso with cold sweet gelato. All those profiles worked really well together. The corn bread itself was maybe a tad pedestrian but the dessert as a whole worked fine (house-made whipped cream, cranberry glaze, and nuts). Oh and we had a side of quinoa which had some indian flavors going on, nice! A new broccoli side was also pretty good but a smidge too sweet and too much sauce. We ate EVERYthing so that reveals our immense satisfaction despite my small gripes. Cant wait to come back to White Maple a third time! read more

This was my first time at White Maple Cafe - The family was very happy with the meal/service / and atmosphere. We started with the Ricotta Board, with fresh whipped Ricotta and crisp bread and local honey, Korean Roasted Cauliflower with a gochujang glaze and braised short rib sliders. All were delicious but the Sliders and Cauliflower were stand out amazing. My daughter and I split the Pan Roasted Chicken and the others at the table had the Beef Burger. Both were impressive. I was surprised to see a wine list that included only NJ Wine from Ventimiglia Vineyard - My wife and I shared the Vidal which was enjoyable but not great. Excellent food! I will say, very delicious, cooked well, and flavorful. I had the half tomato soup bisque and avocado toast. My friends also enjoyed their burgers and sandwiches, fries are great. Cute ambiance and vibe. The biggest downfall is service. Long wait to have order taken during mid-day, only two other tables here. Food took a long time to come out as well. Not sure why sandwiches take so long. Then once we were done we were waiting around to get check while we could see the two associates chatting in the back. We had to go ask in the back to have our check and get a box to go. We'll give this place another shot because it's a nice spot with great food but hope next the service is better. My boyfriend & I arrived on a Sunday afternoon for brunch, around 1215 ish. The establishment was a little busy, but we were able to be seated right away. That's the only thing that happened right away. After waiting for our food for over an hour, at 1:30 we decided it best to just leave. First time here and my immediate impression was that they did a beautiful job with the renovation. I believe this used to be a bakery and they transformed the place into a quaint yet modern/rustic dining room. Beautiful tile floors with wood beams on the ceilings. We ordered the "Rocket Chips" which are house made fried potato chips served alongside an arugula blue cheese dip. It was delicious. For my entree I had the monkfish special which was monkfish served over a lemon risotto. Monkfish is supposed to be a bit chewy in texture but in some spots it was too chewy to eat. I have not had monkfish too many times so I'm not sure if this is an issue with the quality of the fish or just a typical consistency. Flavor of the risotto was spot on though. Creamy with the right amount of lemon. Oh and the chocolate pudding for dessert -- very rich with a dark chocolate flavor to it. Only for the true chocolate lover. The servers also did a great job considering it's a new place. Always happy to see new spots pop up in Ridgewood and I think this one has the potential to last. read more

It had a heaping amount of ricotta-herb spread, pear chutney, and honey served alongside perfectly toasted sourdough slices. We each ordered a cup of Tomato and Brie Bisque and a half sandwich of our choice. I got the Bacon Grilled Cheese and my guy got a Chicken Salad. Both delicious and a perfect lunch for a gloomy day. I also ordered a Winter Horchata with espresso which made for a cozy addition to my meal. All in all, we'll definitely be back to try brunch and dinner, as well as make use of that BYOB option. Just finished my first meal at the white maple cafe and it did not disappoint. I went as a group of 4 and we started with some appetizers and a salad to share. The herby ricotta plate and the bacon macaroni & cheese were absolutely delicious and the harvest salad was refreshing. For entrees, we got the steak, the mussels, the chicken and the burger-- all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. Finally, we finished the meal with a round of coffees, the chocolate pudding, the cookies and milk, and a chocolate gelato which were all fantastic. We look forward to going back again soon. well this was an unfortunate situation. We ordered in last night and were hoping for a kind of festive 26th anniversary dinner. We ordered the Panko salmon - it was soggy and wet possibly undercooked, Possibly from frozen and totally inedible And the potatoes were also cold and soggy. we ordered he veggie bowl which was a mush of burnt and unidentifiable vegetables. The Korean cauliflower was underccooked cauliflower swimming in a hideous orange colored soy mixture. worst part was they put the cauliflower and the pool into a cardboard box and it leaked all over the car! Veggie burger was OK and the fish tacos were fine. not fine like good quality fine like not horrible. Even in a pandemic and with tough times you have got to do better! read more

My sister and I came here on a whim for a late lunch. And the entire experience was underwhelming and disappointing. My sister had to wait for 3 salads to finally get the salad she ordered (kale Caesar which shouldn't be that difficult to get right). When it came out it consisted of 90% wilted iceberg lettuce, 10% kale, one crouton, candied walnuts, no parmesan, and topped with a store bough Caesar dressing. We also had to ask for popcorn while other patrons were readily served it without prompting. Overall It was an all around thoroughly disappointing meal. i so wanted to love this restaurant- pretty, simple and clean ambience, filtered flat or sparkling water for the table, AMAZING popcorn, interesting healthyish menu, and good service...but the food (cue the sad trombone....). It was lunch so my partner and i opted for the soup and half a sandwich. I got the gazpacho and veggie tartine, partner got the chicken quinoa soup & BLT. Gazpacho: though i love gazpacho (i mean truly love gazpacho) i think i'm jaded from eating too much of the good stuff in Spain which is less like salsa (as was the case here) and more like soup. The consistency here was off (food processor thickness) as were the vinegar notes (gazpacho should NOT taste sharp!!).. Tartine: Solid thumbs down. Bread too soggy to pick up, piled with ricotta (good), a too sweet tomato jam (bad), kale pesto (meh) and 1 inch chunks of cooked, under seasoned zucchini (blah). Chicken quniona soup: really really bland. Their stock needs to kick it up A LOT to qualify as soup BLT: Ok? 2 lunches, 2 drinks, 2 desserts and we left spending over 50 bucks for lunch. I really wanted to like this place but just couldn't. We walked in and the hostess was lifeless but whatever that's not a big deal, our waiter wasn't dressed very appropriately (had pretty baggy pants on) but still, not a big deal. The first problem was the "housemade" soda we ordered. There was a sticker floating around in the drink and we didn't get an apology or anything, and we noticed that when the waiter took it back and told another waiter, they were laughing. We got the flatbread and it was very well done, to the point where it tasted too burnt, and I just didn't like the taste (it could just be me) but the figs were just too bitter and I couldn't enjoy it. My boyfriend got the steak and his was also very well done with burnt brussel sprouts. My fish wasn't bad but wasn't amazing. Our dessert was also bad, we ordered the s'mores and we got burnt, stale marshmallows.. couldn't even finish it. There are a lot better places in Ridgewood. read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Had to check it out, as it's still a fairly new spot. We had the small kale Caesar to start, although, it was hardly a small! Big portion but glad because it was delish. Good cheese, sufficient dressing, and I think candied walnuts also which was different. I had the Arctic char gravlax crostini with French fries. It was great but crostini is usually toasted/crispy and this was not. Luckily the bread was good and fresh so I can't complain too much! French fries were nice and crispy served with spicy mayo and ketchup. She had some type of salad with quinoa, beans, and grilled chicken. Went here last night just to try something new with another couple. Me and my friend had the roast chicken. It had nice flavor and was very moist. My wife and his both had the Artic Char. They both said it was dry and lacked flavor. The place is kind of small but clean. The staff were real nice too. They don't have a liquor license so bring your own bottle. But they do have some kind of weird license where they can sell you wine from some company. Maybe it's the Sopranos, I thought it was odd. " We don't have a license but we can sell you a bottle for $25 and up". Would I go again, probably not. But not because it was that bad,the menu is limited. And sort of all the GF, kale, new way of cooking. Which is fine if you like that but us older generation still like our steak and potatoes. read more
