I visited for the first time yesterday with my wife for a casual date-night in town. I debated 3 or 4 stars. It's probably a 3.5 The good: Bison burger and skirt steak were very good Decor was mix of rustic and modern Very clean and friendly staff Apple crumble dessert was very good, not too buttery The bad: Mussels were a big disappointment in terms of portion size and flavor. For $17, I expect more than 15 mussels, 4 of which were completely closed. No bread for the table Limited items on the menu, would offer more vegetable side options Overall, a welcome addition to our town, but there is a lot of competition and there wasn't much in our first visit that made me want to return. I'll probably give it one more try at some point, but I prefer the bar menu at Fish. Owner should go check out the competition and see how he stacks up. This was my first visit to White Maple Cafe. It was a Memorial Day eve Sunday at 2:00pm. As a lone diner, I selected to sit at the counter which had five empty chairs. I ordered the Grass-fed Burger with the side of french fries. I received my sparkling water and basket of popcorn that I nibbled on until my meal arrived. I enjoyed it while listening to Coldplay and Gin Blossoms. The burger is on the small side although tasty with emphasis on the sauce. The french fries supplemented the burger as I used up the tub of ketchup and tub of some other condiment that I don't even know. The workers were very pleasant and one reminded me of actor James Franco. I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. Overhearing the phone calls, many people want to reserve seating for lunch since it's a small space but it seems that it's a first come first serve policy for lunch. I went again on another Sunday in June and had the Crab Cake Benny consisting of crab cakes, poached eggs, hollandaise, old bay, english muffin with roasted vegetable hash along with a Blue Maple mocktail drink. We went here for dinner a few nights ago and had a really nice meal and excellent service. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. We had the tomato soup to start, which was so flavorful. I had the pan roasted half chicken with roasted vegetable (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc.) and brown rice, which was absolutely delicious. The chicken was so juicy and perfectly cooked. My husband had the veggie bowl and enjoyed that as well. I would highly recommend White Maple Cafe as a great spot for a date night. read more

An excellent eclectic menu to suit all discerning tastes. Great food and excellent service. We came here for brunch as a group of 7. Had the Dutch baby and others tried the Ranchos Hueveros, Berry French toast, Spinach Chicken salad and Fritatta. They also have a nice selection of sides for those who would like an extra splurge. We were given a gift certificate for White Maple. A Saturday evening reservation and great weather combined for a very nice experience. We sat outside and had very attentive service. Popcorn instead of bread was a fun start. We shared fish tacos (3 per order) that were excellent. Then Arctic char and a burger for entrees. Everything was fresh and well prepared. Prices were reasonable. This place is a nice addition to Ridgewood's outdoor cafe feel. There is loads of competition so I hope that they continue to do well. read more

I've been to this restaurant several times and it doesn't disappoint. If you like farm to table meals, this is the place for you. There are a decent amount of Vegan and Gluten Free options as well. The Harvest Salad, and the Salmon are wonderful. My friend ordered the Tuna (accompanying wasabi mashed potatoes were to die for) and she loved it. If you like spicy food, the Korean Cauliflower appetizer is great! Even the popcorn they give you when you sit down is delicious--I could pig out on that alone! read more

If I knew how I would have given it 4.5 Stars. Our first time here and we had Sunday brunch. There was nine of us including three small children. The manager, Joe, could not have been more accommodating. After seating us they brought complimentary biscuits with a delicious fruit compote. Also fresh bread with chive butter and a pear spread. Everyone loved their dishes, I had the Vermont Bennie, their take on Eggs Benedict, simply delicious. We are looking forward to returning for dinner. read more

First time here but have been meaning to come. I came in 10minutes after opening on a Thursday (so 11:40) and there were already people sitting. The waiters were very attentive. Brought a choice of water right away. Also placed a small bowl of very tasty, seasoned popcorn on the table as I waited for my friend. Perfect if you're starving. My friend and i both ordered the avocado toast with a side salad (choice was that or French fries). The food came quickly. The dressing on the salad had a nice kick. The multigrain bread was sliced very thick and the avocado mash was fresh and tasty. I also ordered a matcha latte after which was good. My friend had ordered coffee with the meal and not only did they refill twice, they gave her a cup to go when we left! The menu has a good selection of items, all seemed fairly healthy. The chicken in the chicken salad is from a local poultry farm. I will definitely go back! read more

I wont be returning here until indoor seating is opened back up(hopefully its better then). Their food is great and has never let me down but their customer service has taken a turn for the worse and is some of the worst I've had. They have about 10 tables in the street and only half have umbrellas. I understand they may not have enough umbrellas for everyone but the waiters were so rude trying to accommodate my party of six and rather seat the party of three who arrived after us. Finally we got seated in the sun and it was scorching hot so I asked them if any of the tables with umbrellas would be available soon, they said nobody is close to being done yet. I then proceeded to watch him hand one table their check who was seated at the umbrella! I confronted him about it and he said he needed to check the wait list! Thats what irritated me the most since my party was already at the restaurant yet they wanted to help and accommodate another party after us better by given them the table we wanted. Finally he agreed to let us sit there after about 20 minutes of going back and forth about it. Im scared that their lousy customer service is going to send them down the drain...it will be a shame since they are a great eatery. read more

Visited for the first time last night. I had the Arctic Char which was moist and flavorful. Served over sweet potatoes and spinach. The menu is simple and healthy. The perfect restaurant for people who are trying to eat a healthy diet. The prices were extremely fair also. Small bowl of popcorn to start tasted great. I will be back. What a pleasant surprise! Went here last night on a date night w my lovely wife and was completely blown away. I had never even heard of this place and when she told me she made a resi here I was unimpressed. Ridgewood, in general, is a parking nightmare, but on a Saturday night it is truly horrible. As luck would have it we found a spot pretty quick. After walking to restaurant we were greeted with a smallish but very cool space, I especially liked the exposed brick and cool beams. Since it is technically a BYOB, of which we didn't B we ordered a bottle from a NJ vineyard, which did the job. Menu was def limited, but the choices were fine and we ordered the tuna tartare app, very nice, and I had the pork chop porterhouse and my wife the scallops. The pork chop was pretty big and was seasoned and cooked pretty damn well, and the accompanying sweet potatoes and spatzel were perfect companions. I couldn't finish it, which is saying something to the size of the chop. My wife's seared scallops were great, with a nice crust and were translucent on the inside, again perfect. For dessert we ordered a pear crumble which was okay but not needed and def overdoing it. The service was great, very attentive without being intrusive, and you get a choice of tap or complementary sparkling water. Overall was a great experience and I will definitely be back . My only negative were the two older anti Trumpites sitting next to us, complaining the entire meal. I am so sick of hearing about it please its been only 2 days. But I did overhear that she was told by someone at her salon, who knows someone who works at the FBI and is in the know that Trump is related on his mothers side to Josef Stalin, and that's why Putin helped him...Luckily we all live in the USA so I wont be reporting them to the KGB... read more

Ahh this place is wonderful, so wonderful. Where do I begin? The service is excellent. The owner is a joy. You're given a choice of flat or sparkling water every time you eat there, free of charge. After seeing all the wonderful reviews I added this place to the top of my list of brunch places. I went Sunday morning around 11am and got a table inside immediately. After being seated the waitress offered us sparkling or still water which was nice to have the options. She then filled a quarter of our glasses and took the bottle away when every other table had a bottle to keep. We did not get more water for 30 mins after from an other server, not our waitress. The maple sugar popcorn they served on the table was delicious, but I can't say that for the rest of the food. Our waitress was the only one for the whole inside so we waited 15 mins before our order was placed. We ordered iced lattes which didn't come with the requested vanilla flavoring, but let that slide. We ordered the avocado toast with an egg and side salad and the jersey madame. Forty five mins later the order came out. The egg on the avocado toast was burnt and disfigured. The avocado was brown, and they gave us fries instead of salad. Now my jersey madame, looked beautiful. But as I went to go cut it I realized the egg was COMPLETELY RAW. Still extremely jiggly and completely inedible. I sent it back because it was raw and it came back out 20 mins later. Now, I assumed they would have made it fresh since there was raw egg on top, but I realized they gave me the same bread/ham base AND the same egg but this time the threw it on the griddle again and made sure it was extra done. Horrible and honestly shocked they would allow something looking like it did to be served. Then it was supposed to come with this type of hollandaise like sauce. It didn't. Now the taste did not redeem the long wait. It came with a side of vegetable hash, which was some sweet potato and regular potato and zucchini, which was underwhelming and lacked flavor. The food was horrible, the service was horrible and when we finally received the check we left as soon as possible, after being there for 2 hours and feeling as thought I hadn't even eaten anything. This place is decorated very nice but that doesn't justify the way we were treated and the food we received. Absolutely will not be back. read more

Went to White Maple for the first time this past weekend and had such an amazing experience! From the moment my friend and I walked in the door the staff was so warm and welcoming. Their kindness combined with the rustic decor made me instantly feel at home. The food was delicious: mostly classic dishes but with some unexpected touches. For example, the noodle in the Mac and cheese was not the normal elbow pasta but rather radiatori, which made the dish feel sophisticated and served as a great vehicle for the delicious cheese sauce. The baby half chicken was a delicious entree. The chicken was cooked perfectly and well seasoned but the real star of the show (and I can't believe I'm saying this) was the quinoa. I'm not normally a fan of quinoa but this quinoa was cooked so perfectly and had almost a curry flavor to it. So so yummy! Can't wait to go back soon to try one of their mocktails! read more

Went to White Maple on Friday for dinner and could not have been more impressed! The ambiance and decor was perfect. We were greeted as we entered and all the staff were gracious and helpful. The menu offered a variety of options from steak to burgers to pasta and chicken. I got a pasta dish and my husband got the bison and beef burger and we both utterly enjoyed both. They had a bunch of homemade soda options and cocktails, which we tried and were very pleased with. The dessert list looked delicious, we both got different milkshakes made from gelato that we loved. What an incredible new find. First of all, the service is impeccable. As soon as you drink a glass of water, or my favorite the sparkling water, someone comes over to refill your glass. I am a big fan of farm to table restaurants with healthy alternative foods... this one is excellent and I have only been here twice. The rocket chips are a great start.. The crabcake sliders might be the best I ever had. The peaches & ricotta flatbread is excellent. For the main course I had the white maple veggie bowl which was excellent... I also had the mussels which I wasn't crazy about for a main meal but they would be good as an appetizer. The dessert is something I would never pass on... The chocolate pudding is amazing, as well as the NJ Blueberry & Peach crisp and the ice cream sandwich! The maple gelato is specifically made for their location and it's simple, not too sweet. For a Sunday afternoon it wasn't too busy but I felt that maybe the waitress was new or something, I don't know. Beside the fork to table fresh ingredients, the smiling service was incredible. We were a large party of 16. All the food arrived about the same time. How did they do that? A nice little new place in the middle of Downtown Ridgewood. My only issue with the decor is the floor patterning gives me vertigo. But otherwise I really like the ambiance of the place, the exposed brick, the greenery and the rustic pieces. I came here for lunch with my mother. It may have been my fault since the category was "snacks" that I picked the char sliders as my meal. They were good. The buns were buttery and light, and the char was nice with the spicy mayo but a meal it was not. But since it was the price of a meal I suppose I was hoping for something more substantial. My mother enjoyed the Jersey Cuban and soup which did seem like an appropriate portion for a lunch. We enjoyed the house sparkling water as well. Honestly, I'd definitely try this place again. The pricing is pretty typical for Ridgewood and the portions are just a tad on the small side but the ingredients seem fresh and the business itself is nice. read more

This is a welcome addition to the Ridgewood restaurant scene. The menu is on the smaller side, but definitely broad enough to satisfy multiple food preferences. I like that many items are locally sourced, as well. We tried several apps and main dishes and overall, thought they were all flavorful and interesting, although the chicken quinoa soup and the pesto were a bit underseasoned. The herbed ricotta was creamy and delicious and the chickpea fritters were really flavorful and crispy. The mussels were out of this world - some of the best I have ever had. I could not stop eating them. The light tomato-infused sauce is addictive! The staff was tops - friendly and accommodating. In particular, our waiter was great. White maple is one of the best restaurants in ridgewood nj. I would vote they have the best burger around. The kale Caesar salad is also really good and all of the items on the menu is farm to table. The staff is very professional and make you feel welcomed during your dining experience . I recommended this restaurant to a coworker and he absolutely loved it . I have been here multiple times and was very disappointed when I went for brunch today. We got seated very quickly but it took over an HOUR to just get two eggs, bacon and French toast. Our waiter never came to see how we were or update us on the status of our food. When we asked how much longer he very rudely said give me five more minutes. On top of all that, there were two other tables that were seated twenty minutes after us and received their food before us (one even ordered the French toast we were waiting for) food was subpar. The Vermont Benny aka Eggs Benedict was very runny and the poaching was not done right. Poached eggs should be firm and the egg whites must be cooked but they didn't do it right here because the consistency was very watery.
