I went here for several years until my stylist moved. I then tried several other stylists which haven't been that great. This last experience was by far the worst though! I had an apptment with the owner, which I thought would be great. He was running 20 minutes late, insulted my hair, acted surprised when I told him what I scheduled my appointment for. Then, he rushed through my highlights, leaving a giant chunk of hair without color, and gave me the worst cut with no layers/ texturizing as requested. OMG he was just the worst! Plus he half-assly styled it so i just looked terrible. He also is very outspoken so don't be surprised if he says something rude. I am so in awe with how talented he is to get my hair to that color with absolutely no damage! I received so many compliments and everyone told me that has been the best color I have ever done to my hair! About 7 months after John did my hair, for some odd reason, I decided to dye my hair back to black. After my pregnancy (I think it was like May 2019 I went the second time to try to get what John did the first time) Angel did my hair because John was out on medical leave. The second pic (in red shirt) is the second time I asked for a balayage and unfortunately, I am disappointed with how Angel did my hair. He was also kinda rude. Kinda sad I paid $400 for what I got :/ he did not do what I asked for but I'm not upset because it's only hair and it gives me a reason to come back lol. I learned about this salon through my boyfriend, who is great friends with John. John told me to come in and promised he would take great care of me with a fresh cut and style. He definitely followed through with his promise. We had a very professional consultation and decided on a cut to make sure my hair was healthy, but also to the length I wanted to keep. After the cut, my hair was styled to have a beachy wave feel. I have tried to style my hair this way forever, but John nailed it. "Eek! Methinks not" says it all. Wow. I just got a rather passive aggressive note from the salon manager in response to my review. He chastised me because apparently, I am (a) a racist, and (b) accused my stylist John of using cocaine. For the first part, living in the non-post racial society that we do, a salon called White, even named for the surname of the owner, can bait my inner snark. I meant my review to be self-deprecating in the first sentence, not racist, because I ended up going to White anyway and having a great experience. Second, well, wow. I honestly thought my stylist had allergies or a cold. I never in a million years jumped to the conclusion of cocaine. So, for the record, I do not mean to imply John has done, or ever did, cocaine. I have allergies. I thought he might, too. However, the salon manager was really nice and provided me John Michael's new location at the Salon at Kirby. Hope this clears the air. But nope. Never going back to White after this unpleasantness. But doubt my patronage will be missed. read more

FWIW, friend who normally cuts my hair is getting married this week and couldn't see me for a quick clean-up before I head off to another wedding out of town - I know, selfish right?! JK, JK. :) - so I called White Salon in the hopes someone would be able and willing to quickly clean up my hairline and run some thinning shears through my hair, hopefully, without charging me a ton of money since I'm not a regular customer. White Salon obliged and it was a terrific experience for a more than fair price. I was greeted at the door, didn't have to wait for more than a couple of minutes, and was quickly seated in Taylor's chair. Taylor listened, then delivered and was pleasant, professional, and personable - even managed to make me look good in the process! Jokes aside, if you're looking for a solid cut for a very reasonable price, I rec White Salon and, while I'm sure the entire staff is more than capable, I can vouch for Taylor's skillz. read more

I've been to this salon twice now and see Beau, he is amazing! I am a natural blonde that had gone platinum for a few years. I was ready to go back to my natural color, however I hadn't seen it in so long I didn't know how to describe it! Beau took the time to hear me out and offered his suggestions. I gave him my feedback on his idea and once again he really listened, repeated what he was hearing from me, and then suggested something in line with that. Well, he was spot on and the color he created for me was PERFECT! Exactly what I was hoping for and it looked just like my natural color! Also, he gave me tips on how to style my hair with various items including flat iron curls and how to do the perfect blowout at home. He is not only good at color but gave me a very flattering cut that has worked great for when I wear my hear curly or straight. But most importantly. my hair always looks out fantastic. Spencer does an excellent job on providing me with exactly what I am wanting and it always looks amazing and i receive tons of compliments. He is a ROCKSTAR and i recommend him to anyone who is looking to get a great color!! The best part is that they are constantly training their stylists to be up-to-date on all the newest techniques. Okay, I really have no idea what the salon part is like, but I LOVE the spa-like environment on the second floor! I would never dream of purchasing a massage through a salon, but I bought an awesome deal for a facial and a massage. Well, let me tell you, I have had a fair number of massages, and Jason ranks as one of the best therapists I've ever had. (I haven't used the facial yet but will update once I do!) I'm honestly pretty shocked that a not-overpriced-at-all salon/spa would be host to such an awesome masseur. I'm a musician and have knots in abnormal places. I always explain this to therapists in advance and show them where I need the work, but a lot of them just don't know how to relieve the tension. Jason is definitely very intuitive, which I believe to be imperative in his occupation. My massage actually went way overtime, and I spent a while afterward speaking with the manager about how awesome it all was. After a long massage hiatus, I think it's time I get regular ones again. read more

I went there for the first time on a LivingSocial deal and the girl who cut my hair recommended the Brazilian blowout and quoted me a price that I thought was reasonable. For spring break I booked an appointment and when I came in they touched up my highlights as well. When I went to pay I was told it would be $445!!! I was in tears this was so disappointing to me. The work was great. The owner did it, and he was obviously an excellent stylist, but I wasn't told that he was the owner until after I left. There were additional charges for having him do the hair and I believe also for the flat ironing. He also knew that I wasn't wealthy before doing the Brazilian as we conversed about me being a teacher and I talked about how we couldn't afford for me to stay at home even though daycare costs for two children are very expensive. Not once did they mention that it was a $300 service. (I guess the price the girl originally gave me was a special). Granted, it was mainly my fault for not asking prices, but they also were not upfront with the costs. They should have asked if I wanted an experienced stylist for an extra $60 or do I want my hair flat ironed for additional cost? Toner is additional as well, so you get have color, but if you want it toned you pay extra. Plus, if someone is paying $300 for a Brazilian blowout, how is the styling not included? I'm sure I will laugh about my small town mistake (this would never happen in the small Iowa town I am from) one day, but not for the next year while I abstain from getting my hair done to recoup the costs. They did call to offer me 50% off my next service due to the fact that I was so upset and I had to inform them that I would never be back. I was recently offered an all expenses paid trip to Italy for $2,000. This included the airfare, hotels, two meals a day, chartered travel accomodation and a tour guide. It hit all the hotspots. I turned it down because we don't have the money. Alternatively, I stayed here in Houston for spring break and spent 1/4 of that on a three hour hairdo that won't last. My mom pointed out that I should be grateful, because at least this won't set me back so much that we can't eat. There are families out there that could make this mistake and then not have enough for food. So, before you get your hair done there, please get them to be very specific about their prices. In response to his comment, there were an additional $65 in charges beyond the $300 blowout and $90 highlight service that were not disclosed to me. No matter how out of touch I am those undisclosed charges are real. They did refund the $50 tip I left, because I did not take my disappointment out on the hair dresser. read more

This place was so great - I loved the laid-back, trendy vibe and the entire staff was super friendly. Great energy! My stylist's name was Monica and she was fantastic. My hair was so long and thick, but she did such a great job and took her time to make sure my cut/color was perfect. Dianne or Diana was especially rude and passive aggressive. I have originally visited White Salon to get my haircut and colored (balayage) with Diane who is talented, fun and so warm. I was referred to her by a friend and loved her work and services. However, I needed a cut and color before heading out of town and she wasn't available when I called to make my Saturday apt. The receptionist said that I could only be seen by Angel and I trusted that I would have another great experience. That was far from it. I came into the salon knowing the color and cut I wanted and got NOTHING CLOSE TO IT!! My hair was long (below my mid-back) and pretty much one length. I was aiming for mid-length cut (well below my shoulders) with a side bang & a brunette rose (dark auburn) hair color. Instead for a measly ~$170 I got a choppy bob (above my shoulders) with a horrible bang and plain brown hair color. I felt like a little girl who was forced into a horrible haircut I had no choice on. This was not what I wanted and was definitely not the service I had previously received from White Salon. So sad but I don't think there is any way I can return back. I loved this place but I was so embarrassed. Leaving I tried to pull back my hair so no one would see that I looked like DORA THE EXPLORER but I couldn't even do that BC IT WAS TOOO SHORT! On top of the bad haircut the service was horrible. Angel never asked if I even would like a drink or took the time to properly consult with me before taking the decision to cut my hair so short. He asked to see my inspiration pics multiple times and should have told me if he didn't think he could accomplish the look I was going for. Now I am stuck with a crappy short cut until it grows out enough to be fixed. Ruined my Saturday and cried to my husband like a school girl before heading to work on Monday. Talk about traumatizing. I got a bloomspot deal for a massage & it was AMAZING! Jason used the right amount of pressure, made me feel relaxed & didn't cheat me on any of my massage time. I've gotten plenty of massages & although this may be a bold statement, this massage was the BEST by far. I also enjoyed the scent of the oil because it was relaxing, smelled good, but yet wasn't too powerful of a smell. 5 stars for Jason! My only complaint is the music playing during my massage was extremely distracting. I understand having upbeat music in the salon, but during a massage I prefer relaxing, natural, more earthy sounds. It was kinda hard to relax, because the music wasn't typical spa massage music to relax to. read more

Jerry White has been my hairdresser since 2000 and he has been great! He is professional, formal, and always knows exactly the makeover one needs! When I found out he was opening his new salon, I was very excited and happy for him. Since he opened the salon, I have seen nothing but great customer service and professionalism from him and his team. Every time I go to White Salon, my hair shines! He always knows what is best for me and leaves my hair in great condition. Jerry makes me feel and look younger with a natural but elegant look. I'd give one star, but John was so nice and the salon is beautiful. Granted, I did not try and get my hair corrected- I was actually quite afraid of what damage it may cause and the other recent reviewers confirmed for me that nothing would have actually be done. Man, oh man, was the entire style wrong. The cut and color could not have been further from the pictures I showed. I gave the stylist two options and two very different photos and asked him "Which do you think is the most feasible and better outcome?" He insisted the red would look great, and I went with it. I do not think I could have been clearer on the either/or scenario. A bright, multi-tonal natural red, or blonder all over. I had been doing balayage for the past couple of years and needed a change. I ended up with balayage, but of the ketchup and mustard variety. The color ended up being a bright, coppery base with very blonde (albeit, a beautiful tone of blonde) balayage. How did he think I wanted to combine the two? I still do not get it. I am in a professional line of work and was working while he was coloring (a little deductive reasoning would have said, "Nope, this is not a professional color scheme here.") The haircut, as with the color, was not what I had asked for. A "trim" turned into about 4" off and a strange shape. Needless to say, I've worn my hair up exclusively since this service. I have waited a good three months now for the red to wash out so that I could let my step-daughter in Ohio fix it (whom is a Paul Mitchell graduate, and licensed cosmetologist, by the way), but unfortunately, even after two processes and 6 hours, the red will not come out of my hair!!! She was completely flabbergasted. I am stuck with this color and thus, this review. I now either have to wait for the red to fully come out, or dye it all red. After my $300 bill with tip, I expected so much more. read more
