Smack in the middle of an area shared by tourists and locals sits this wine bar that is so laid back that people just miss it. Literally they are in such a rush to get to the places like Alonzo's, A and B Lobster House, Commodore, Conch Republic and more that sit right on the water along the marina boardwalk that they just miss this place. Probably because it's in a dark spot in a building that is further back from the boardwalk and it's a shame because they have a great thing going. The bar is never packed and never too loud but it's also never empty either. Just a constant stream of regulars; well I assume they are regulars because whenever I see someone come into White Tarpon it seems everyone knows everyone else. I kinda feel like an outsider which might be why I don't come too often (you can usually find me over at the Rum Bar or The Porch). I know a lot of the reviews talk about the food (mostly sandwiches) and their key lime martinis, but to be honest I have never seen anyone drinking anything but wine. I know they sell martini's and beer but just like me it seems everyone is there for the wine only. And I have never seen anyone eating food here even though I have seen the 50 cent oyster sign. I used to think it was a happy hour special which is the same deal a few places offer (like Half Shell and Turtle Kraals) but it's not; they do it all the time. Haven't tried them yet but I think I need to make a trip back here and check them out. I hope they don't get too popular because the atmosphere is great and would hate to see them change. read more

We where back in key west for the first time in over a year due to Covid. Stopped on for happy hour the prices where great food was decent. My fiancé wanted a dark and stormy we knew it would not be be a specialty priced for happy hour but when we got the bill the goslings rum was 8.00 snd a charge of 3.50for ginger beer. We used to go here before they moved their location. Loved it before great oysters fun happy hour etc. This time it was off, the bar and restaurant in general didn't seem as clean as it should be. The bartenders were nice the lady dressed as baby shark was funny. The food was really the downfall. I've been wanting the carne crudo since the last time I was here and it was awful, small and more parmesan cheese than beef. We also got the calamari and grouper bites, again barely and squid or grouper it had more fried carrots and onion petals. Definitely not worth the price. read more

We found much better happy hour deals and better quality food/drinks here on the dock than we found in other areas of Key West, which was a surprise! I thought these would all be overpriced tourist traps. We had a nice time here, sitting at the bar and making friends. The peel and eat shrimp were a great deal at $6 for a 1/2 lb, and were very chilled and refreshing. House wines, beers, and well drinks are 1/2 off too. The happy hour menu includes many other inexpensive snacks, but we just wanted fresh seafood. Even though the oysters were cheap, they were far from the best we had.... you get what you pay for in some cases. Really nice, pretty restaurant on the waterfront. My friends and I chose this place for dinner based on other glowing reviews and ratings, but this was not our experience in the least. To be fair, most reviews are referring to the breakfast and lunch fare, so maybe they just miss the mark on dinner. Be that as it may, the happy hour was quite limited in what was included in the special pricing (drafts & well drinks, not my martini). Some of the apps were a couple bucks off, so we got Harbor Walk Taters & a 1/2 lb of peel & eat shrimp. On the advice of a Yelp recommendation, I also got a pulled chicken sandwich. We were seated in a dimly-lit but ambient area under some shelter by the water, but we soon realized that the "restaurant" was really just deli fare being delivered to our table from the deli just behind us. Our waitress was miserable and non-existent a majority of the time, and our food arrived at random intervals (pulled chicken sandwich and nachos first, then shrimp, then the "taters" as we were just about done with everything else). Everything I tried (exception: nachos) was lacking seasoning and flavor. Even a pinch of salt would have gone a long way. The chicken in my sandwich was dry and tasteless. I had asked for no pineapple jalapeno chutney, so that may have been a factor I suppose. As a side note, my sister had ordered the shrimp quesadilla which arrived in a pool of liquid (butter? something else?). Hands down our favorite for happy hour. Half off small plates, beer, well drinks, and house wine. The small plates are not that small and at half price definitely worth trying all of them. Our favorite (so far) has been the ribs, mussels, and ceviche. Today will try Jamaican Jerk Wings, fried calamari and grouper bits, and peel & eat shrimp. The only reason we went here was because there was a 2 hr wait at Conch Republic. So Happy we did!!! It was by far the best meal we had on the island. We had the seared grouper which melted in your mouth but the Star was the Zucchini, olive artichoke orzo pasta WOW!!! I could've eaten an entire bowl of just that. YUM!! My son had the whiskey bbq glazed ribs which was also perfectly cooked. They have great cocktails too. Would definitely go back for their happy hour to sample all of their small plates. read more

Every year we come down for lobster season, the White Tarpon is a breakfast/lunch staple. Always friendly service. You can't go wrong with any of their filling breakfast or lunch sandwiches, plus their shady porch seating is one of the best places to cool down on this part of Key West. We always look forward to getting their gigantic muffins here. Ask them to cut and grill it for you! It takes them to a whole new level. read more

I feel like all places related to a and b lobster have a certain standard of quality. I've walked by this place for years visiting key west. Always went to conch republic and a and b. Everything at white tarpon was amazing besides the oysters which had no water inside and were dry and fishy. It surprised me due to them owning a oyster bar. The waitress said they ate main oysters. The gator bites were great. Some of the best calamari I've ever had with the grouper bites. Crab beignets sound amazing the waitress said there heavy so I got gator bites instead as I didn't want anything to heavy. This place is also extremely reasonable compared to portion drink sizes. I would say all out food and drinks one person at conch republic is over 200 but here it's 130 for a drinks and bunch of apps. The drinks are huge and strong. read more

So good but dangerous because there was not even a hint of the alcohol that was in it! Would definitely order that again. We had the gator bites to start. Swing And A Miss We came for St. Patty's Day and didn't have the luck of the Irish. I'm not sure what more could have gone wrong. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The drinks took 20 minutes to get here (thanks for the buzz kill) and the place was 50% full. My wife got a different drink than what she ordered and our waitress told her, "I switched it because no one likes it." Good to know, just a little late in the process. Ordered a rum floater with it and it never came...must have been stuck with that drink no one likes. I ordered a mojito that tasted like a soda. Who takes the mojo out of a mojito? My daughter's key lime martini was good though--one star and a hoo-ray! The mussels are good, but two of the shells were missing something. Something like a mussel. Must be buried back with that drink no one likes and the floater. If you want a cool setting and slow service, check this place out.
