Not family friendly. If you want to be nickle and dimed for fair pizza and service (that isn't bad but doesnt stand out) this is the place for you! Outdoor seating is benches (no back support) unless you get in a handicap cap table that has plastic yard chairs. No half and half under any circumstances. You cant pay for the more expensive topping and request the other side to have only cheese and no kids menu. The pepperoni is very rich so if you have kids with sensitive stomachs, you're made to pick off the toppings or spend another $20 for them to have an entire 12" pizza to themselves. Want ranch? 75cents per cup... a small cup at that. Wanted a beer but after the uninviting experience was ready to spend any extra money anywhere else. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

My girlfriend and I walked past whitecaps 3 times this weekend, each time noting how AMAZING it smelled. So we finally grabbed a pizza to-go last night, and there were no regrets. We got the Sopressata Honey Drizzle pizza, and it was mouth watering-ly delicious. The toppings combination was fantastic, nothing too overpowering but also enough to make it flavorful, and their cheese was clearly great quality. The only downside I noted was that the middle of the pizza was soggy, and we got the larger size (16" I think), so the pieces were giant. If you like dipping your pizza in ranch, and agree that the pizza shop's ranch is always better than the one you have at home, Whitecaps is no exception. I'd recommend getting their ranch cups (if you're willing to spend the 75¢ each). Thanks to the hostess for being super hands on and friendly while we waited for our order at the bar, she checked in a few times to let us know how much longer it would be. Service was excellent. I called over the phone and was greeted and attended to once I arrived to the business. I arrived at 6pm and it was very busy for a Thursday. Lots of guest picking up pizzas and dining in. Parking was a bit difficult. Not much parking around the restaurant. Good thing for me I was only picking up so I had my wife park near a neighbor business while I went in. I was told it would take about 35-40mins to make and it was definitely on time. The Craft Special Mushroom pizza was absolutely flavorful and and delicious highly recommended. We will be trying out another pizza tomorrow before we head home. read more

Came on a guys trip to Lake Tahoe and stopped for a quick bite to eat. I ordered the Pastrami Sandwich on Chibatta bread and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The pastrami, the slaw, and the sauce they used had good flavor and all came together nicely. The bread had a nice exterior crunch but still soft on the inside. The portions of everything on the sandwich was perfect and definitely contributed to everything coming together. I know this is a pizza place but I was really interested in the pastrami. The inside has a nice homey cabin like vibe and the staff were all really nice and helpful. Their prices are a little up there but I think it could possibly be because they don't get much foot traffic because of their location. We always stop here when in Tahoe, the arugula peach pizza is to die for! On our last visit we requested a table outside and were told the wait would be 45 minutes - no problem, we'll wait at the bar. The hostess said that was fine but that we couldn't order food at the bar - wait, what? We sat down, ordered beers and told the bartender what she said and he quickly shot that down. Long story short, something got screwed up and she didn't put our name in so after waiting 45 minutes we said screw it and ordered at the bar with no problem. So all in all, another great visit and delicious pizza but the hostess was a little overwhelmed so we didn't get our table outside. read more

Really busy place It has so many choices. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Food was great had the Italian pizza, really good. Clam chowder had a small so never tried it, took it home to heat up and try. Had some of the Spanish inspired dishes that were spot on. Great job guys!!! read more

We ALWAYS save a night for whitecaps pizza when we are in town. They have a wide selection of craft pizza options m. Our favorites are the seasonal fruit and bacon, hot honey soppressata, and the broccolini pizza with the meatball as a close 3rd. All of their craft pizzas are worth a try. Their sizes are reasonable--three 12 inch pizzas comfortably fed four of us. They reheat well in the oven, too. We've always done takeout, so can't speak to the in-house service, but carry out service was fine. Not great, not terrible. Easy location to get in an out of with ample parking on site and on the street. TLDR; Best pizza in north Lake Tahoe, and the craft pizzas are a must. read more

Whitecaps, we have returned 2 years later! We were in town for a wedding & decided to take the 15 min drive to whitecaps knowing and remembering how glorious it was from last time. It was just as delicious and glorious as we remembered. The day was beautifully sunny, the views were epic, the vibes were immaculate and the food was ever so delicious! SO FLAVORFUL! We ordered the bbq chicken and craft mushroom. Detroit style unfortunately couldn't be made for take out so I'll make sure to come by and try it next time I'm back. The bbq chicken had so much for flavor than just bbq and chicken. It was too sweet or too rich. It was perfectly balanced and didn't get tiring to eat. The craft mushroom was definitely one of my favorite pizzas I've had in a while. The cheeses were so good. I almost wanted to go back the next day and pick one up for the drive out of town. When we picked up the pizza, the view was stunning from just the parking lot so I can only imagine how nice it would be on the second floor deck during the clear summer days. Wait in total about 2 hrs. Pizza is so so. But Mac&cheese is awful. When we checked in and wait in queue. We need phone number and we've told we are expecting a text message for confirmation and when it's our turn will remove another text message. While we never receive a message. My husband went back to ask for assistance that we waited but never received a text for confirmation. Then there is a fat mean girl said well, that means you guys never checked in. And pointed at my husband's phone said one of the message is their text, my husband said no, that's the text from my wife. Unfortunate combination of poor customer service. Originally phoned in to place an order with the intention of doing take out, but when we arrived we wanted to dine in instead. The staff adamantly refused, even though (1) none of our food was even ready by the time we arrived so it wasn't even placed in takeout containers yet and (2) we hadn't even paid yet when we arrived. The woman at the front desk then snarkily said "If you were at a steakhouse and ordered steak, you wouldn't eat it in the takeout container at the restaurant." On top of being rude, this didn't reflect the situation at all because we were intending to dine in (e.g. get actual plates and water, tip, etc.), which shouldn't have been a problem given reasons #1 and #2 above. It just seemed like they refused to serve us, even though they had over a half hour before closing and were seating other parties who walked in while we waited for our order to be finished. But the cherry on top was that even though my group was waiting inside right in front of the same woman, had paid and given our name, she let our order sit right next to her for 10-15 minutes until I went and asked her directly if it was ready, so the food had completely gone cold by the time we got home. Overall, we experienced a complete lack of care and common sense by the staff. read more

Ordered a pizza for take out here and the bar area was busy but friendly. Staff was really nice and let me grab a beer while I waited. We ordered the Kale & Salsiccia pizza since it sounded really good and different. Plus Kale is healthy right? It was delicious, the flavor of the carmelized onions and the sausage so so good, it was a bit sweet, peppery and a little earthy from the kale. The cheese was pretty generous, but not overwhelming. It held up perfectly well for my walk back before we opened it up. Super happy with the pizza and would certainly order it again. Delicious pizza, yummy sweet potato salad, addicting dipping sauce on the focaccia. Loved that there is an entire upstairs section that can seat larger groups. The upstairs can probably seat 3 large groups. Great for groups with kids who need a bit more space. Pizza took a really long time to come out, so be aware of that when placing your orders when you have potential for hangry children. Skeptical when I saw pictures but don't judge a book by its cover, the crust was surprisingly crispy but with their craft pizzas, the more toppings you tend to put on, pizzas overloaded with toppings tend to be a bit more soggy and Whitecaps is no exception! Overall, the craft pizzas they had complement various taste palettes fairly well. We tried the Kale & Salsicca and it was pretty good! Weekends are fairly busy with a line at the door and no parking in their strange U-shaped lot - may have to find parking elsewhere. 4.5 stars! Whitecaps is a vibey restaurant in North Lake Tahoe. The TV screens are playing and the staff is super nice and attentive, even with large crowds. My group ordered two 16-inch pizzas to share and we had two slices leftover. It's a good portion size! 1. Honey Drizzle (4/5) This was a house special but surprisingly I enjoyed the other pizzas more. The honey isn't too strong and the jalapeños add a good kick! 2. Margherita (5/5) Delicious! A thin and crispy crust. The cheese is very delicious. 3. Meat Lovers (5/5) So much meat!! I would definitely recommend this if you like sausages and pepperoni because it is packed FULL of those goodies. :) The restaurant temperature was turned up to 80+ degrees so it was a little uncomfortable eating. We were told we would have to wait 60+ minutes to be seated and served, but they were able to cut it down to 30 minutes by seating us in the waiting room. read more

We had stopped by for just a drink the night before after dinner and just knew we had to come back for food. And....Wow! Everything was so top notch on our visit. Before you even get inside you can smell the pizzas cooking. Upon arrival, we were greeted and brought to our table right away. Our server was kind and informative. We were a party of four so we got a few items to share and two of the smaller pizzas so we could try a bunch of different items. Let me tell you not a single item disappointed! Whitecaps was a few doors down from our motel, so it was an easy choice. I noticed their beer selection was on the DigitalPour App. They have a solid selection of local beers and some other very good choices from outside the area (Russian River Brewery for example). Our server, Eric, was very knowledgeable about the local beers. I picked one from a brewery in Truckee, a kolsch, and it was amazing. After our drink selection, we ordered a sandwich & a pizza. I ordered an Americana pizza (two types of pepperoni, meatball, shaved parmesan and chili flakes ... don't let the chili flakes scare you off, I barely noticed they were there). The pizza was very good. My wife loved her sandwich. Eric, our server, was great. Chillin outside, with the food / drink on a gorgeous Lake Tahoe evening was priceless. Initially excited to have pizza after some kayaking but HOLY smokes it just kept going downhill from there. Being a big group we naturally asked for two tables, each table having 6 people. Straight up just a "NO", no explanation. It felt nonsensical seeing other tables with only 3-4 table and vast availability of tables but whatever we went on to order. As we proceeded to order majority of our order was unavailable, 10 minutes after the fact of ordering. After another 40 minutes of anxious waiting we ask for a status. Waiter says "no more than 10 minutes", we're like OKK finally. Turns out they never took OUR order. Dying of hunger we ask for an explanation. No apology whatsoever. "Things happen". Great pizza at a great location. This place was recommended by a hiker we ran across on our way down from Monkey Rock. We were told not to kiss this spot and we're glad we too their advice. The pizza is a think crust that was cooked to perfection. Not soggy and not burnt but just right. The hostess and servers are very accommodating. We took our order to go but did see the fantastic views if you decided to eat outside. The view of the lake from the second floor balcony is nice. We waiting along the sand/beach section along their parking lot. Food was prepared promptly and enjoyed by the entire family. Don't pass up this spot. read more
