    Fantastic cider at Whitewood!
    Alden C.

Normally I like hitting craft beer places but every once in a while a good cider place hits the spot! Whitewood is just such a place! I first heard about Whitewood through an acquaintance that worked at a coffee shop in Tacoma. Later still while on a visit to the Holy Mountain Brewery up in Seattle I saw a collaboration t-shirt design that the two businesses did and bought one. The logo was awesome! I don't go to Olympia as much as I used to and on a recent trip down there I was reminded that Whitewood was a place that I intended on going to. The location is kind of in a food truck area and in a tiny little building there. I think a donut or a pastry shop was here at one time (it never seemed open). They had quite a few different ciders on tap. I wanted something dry and got one somewhere along the "middle" in dryness and was very, very good. Steve got a cider that was considerably more sweet and though I wasn't in the mood for something that sweet it too was very good when I took a sip of it. I have recently discovered that I love dry hopped cider and Steve overheard that they were planning to put one of those on tap once they ran out of one of their existing options. I think I need to make trip back here very soon to take advantage of that!

I really liked this cider spot! It's in a super cute tiny house tap room. There's two tables and a small bar as well as an outdoor area. They have a differ variety of ciders and the person working there took the time to explain each one to us. They also have different sizes, I liked the 8oz size since a pint is usually too much cider for me. The cider I had wasn't overly sweet and was easy to drink. I would stop by again sometime.

What a cute place to drink cider! I like the outdoor patio which we got a chance to try one of the other food stands as well. I did a flight because I wanted to sample several of them and enjoyed them all. They are on the semi-sweet side and tasted smooth. Come check out this place for some good cider!

Super cute little spot with food carts surrounding it. Tiny little place with only 12 seats or so, but really good cider and a convenient stop off of I-5.

Before you come here Just know it's very very small...so don't expect to bring a big group. That being said it's awesome. Good selection of ciders and the employees know quite a lot about the ciders. Super friendly staff and cute atmosphere! Just wish it was a little bit bigger

Gravenstein cider was one of the best ciders I've ever had, it packed a big juicy apple punch and was somewhere in the middle of sweet vs. dry. They've made good use of the tiny place. They have parking...though I don't believe there is any bathroom facility for patrons?

We love this place! So chill and perfect for a 30-minute sit-down with a 4 oz cider. The staff is great too!

Amazing! So cozy and great food trucks nearby. Not to mention, the cider is among the best in WA state.

We've eaten here several times over the years, this was the first time we eat dinner here. Fam. Let me tell you, the very reasonable lunch size portions? They're significantly bigger on the dinner menu. Almost disturbingly so Being able to get a selection of interesting regional beers is always a draw, tonight was no exception. And the pretty good lunch menu is expanded for the dinner hour - as well as the portion sizes being expanded. I ordered the fish and chips, my partner ordered the bar steak (which was New York strip), and her daughter ordered the salmon burger with fries. Because it was a special, we also got a giant order of poutine. Despite being in almost at closing, the service was absolutely spectacular. We very nearly had the place to ourselves, so the overall vibe was very homey and welcoming. As noted, the portions were enormous. I opted to finish my fish at the expense of the chips. My partner wound up with a significant take home portion as did her daughter. Couldn't possibly have been happier about our decision to stop in. Since we seem to have a new Greener in the family, I'm sure that we will be in Olympia significantly more frequently. And frankly, I am pretty happy about that, just based on being able to stop in here on the regular again.

I asked her to box up half as I can never eat a whole one. The ambiance is awesome but be sure to wear your hearing aids if you need them. Pros: Chill lounge/sitting area at the front corner with sofas, a low bar (accessibility friendly) and board games. Big tables to accommodate groups and various bar seating. Large brewery menu screens with large range and the food looked good. Tbh we came for brews so can't comment on food. The Wildman Beer brand was so-so. Some better than others! Cons: FOH staff interaction. Why we love pubs/breweries is because of the chill, friendly, conversational flow of FOH; their knowledge of the beers and/or cocktails, their passion for sharing it with new customers so they come back again and again ... this vibe fell short at Wildman. TL;DR Good for a basic group of people looking for a brewery experience in town with room for large groups. Not for those who are expecting an awesome brewery experience -- a la PDX, DEN, PHX, ATX or SEA.

But when I saw that they opened up a location in Olympia and Steve and I were going to Olympia for a show it made perfect sense to go to this new location. Downtown where our show was is super walkable and this brewery is right there. When we went in what escaped my attention at the Raymond location was that I was particularly impressed with their own mead selection. And the mead did not disappoint in the slightest. The first mead I had was their Oak Aged Classic Mead. Such fantastic balance in body and the oak flavor was truly impressive! I got another mead from the list, the Sneaky Bastard Meer. It's called meer I believe due to the five different kinds of hops they put into it. Great floral and honey flavored highlights! Our experience here was excellent! Steve enjoyed his drink selections as well! Definitely returning for more mead enjoyment!
