I stayed here with my husband last weekend and we stayed in the Provence Room. Robin greeted us when we arrived. She was super friendly and gave us lots of great info about restaurants, things to do in the area, and how to get there via public transportation. This B&B is in a great location off of Milwaukee Ave, with a diverse assortment of restaurants, unique clothing stores, record stores, bars, and coffee shops. The Wicker Park Inn was cozy and inviting. The sheets and the room in general was very very clean. The bathroom (ours was a private one in the hall) was also very very clean and comfortable. We felt like home having the kitchen/dining room area right outside our room and always stocked with delicious snacks and drinks. Breakfast was great with croissants, fresh fruit, yogurts, bagels, and more. We really felt at home here and will come back, possibly this summer. read more

I stayed for one night in the Cape Cod room. Cute place. The staff is super friendly - one of the best parts of the experience. The room was cute. Comfortable and charming. The absolute best part about WPI is the location. You can't beat it!!! Totally makes it worth it. I really liked this place, and found it to be accommodating, however the walls are so freaking thin that I am not sure if I could suck it up again to stay here. I really want to, but I didn't sleep at all. It was pretty bad, and makes me sad because everything else about this place is just right!! Maybe ear plugs would make it possible?? Maybe there is a better room where I can't hear every word my neighbors are saying, as well as hear them go to the bathroom 50 times during the night and take showers when they got home at 2am. I don't know...If I weren't there for business the next day, it might have been more excusable. Super cute place though with great staff. Cool area near downtown ($7 cab) but still a unique spot. Easy drive to the airport as well. I felt like I was staying in a guest house instead of a hotel. Full kitchen and appliances, big closet with extra blankets in there, full size dove shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. What can I say, I like feeling homey. It isn't super updated and stoic, but it is clean and cozy (in the charming way, not tiny), comfy bed, filtered water pitcher in the fridge. As another Yelper noted, it is called the Blue Line Room, and there is a bit of noise. I suppose we are in a big city :) Thus the 4 stars. Otherwise, I really liked it a lot. This place is great! We stayed in the Blue Line Suite for an extended weekend and had a great time. With all the hotels in downtown Chicago, we wanted to stay near where we used to live, and having the options of staying in Wicker Park was great. The train noise really isn't that bad, and if you are doing Chicago right, after you've had a few cocktails, you shouldn't even notice the noise. I would totally stay here again and recommend it for anyone who'd rather stay in a fun part of town as opposed to downtown. read more

We recently had the pleasure of spending a week in the Blue Line apartment. One of the first questions a reviewer should answer would be - "would you go back?". And our answer is absolutely! In fact we can't wait. As a native Chicagoan living as an ex-pat in Colorado we're fairly regular visitors to the city, but this was our first time staying in the Wicker Park neighborhood. It's hard for me to imagine a better place to stay to enjoy all that the Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square neighborhoods have to offer - and they have a LOT. The Inn is located on a nice, tree-lined residential street but is only a block off Milwaukee and within a few blocks of Division, where interesting local bars, restaurants, coffee places and other esoteric businesses abound within easy walking distance. Want to venture into other parts of the city? You're only a few blocks from either the Damen or Division Blue Line (L) stops so going beyond the immediate area is as easy as could be. This is, as the owners describe, an "urban B&B", not a full-service hotel so set your expectations accordingly. If you want the amenities of a downtown hotel then you'd be best staying downtown. But if you want to stay in a vibrant and exciting neighborhood with all of those amenities and more a short walk away, this is the place to be. Several area businesses offer discounts to those staying at the Inn as well. The Inn itself is is clean, comfortable and appealing. Do note the one word you may have been expecting - "quiet" - is missing for only one reason. While the street is quite peaceful with minimal traffic, the L runs literally feet away from the back of the building and it does make noise. The Blue Line apartment is closest and thus arguably the noisiest, yet we were in no way bothered by the sound in the least. Seemed like nice, soothing urban sounds to us and we slept well every night we were there. Our small apartment had everything we needed for our week of urban exploration. The apartments with kitchenettes don't include breakfast so we can't comment on that, but the staff we interacted with were all super. A special shout out to Paul who we shared many pleasant conversations with during our stay. This will likely be our go-to place for future trips to my favorite city. read more

This was a beautiful b&b! The rooms are spacious, well decorated yet cozy and very clean (with modern bathrooms in each room!). The beds were high quality and VERY comfortable. My family and I needed to change up our holiday plans and it was the perfect spot to be together while having additional space. The Wicker Park Inn is a true hidden gem! Perfectly located in a hip neighborhood, the B & B is super cute, clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Concord room for three nights. The train noise wasn't all that loud, and with the cozy bed and blackout curtains, I slept like a rock our entire stay. The heated bathroom floor also is a nice touch, especially during our rainy, chilly weekend. Laura and Mecca are super helpful and accommodating, each going out of their way to ensure our needs were met. Oh, and don't skip Brad's restaurant-quality breakfast on this weekends -- it's to die for! He made waffles, bacon and scrambled eggs to order, and it seriously was the best breakfast I've had in quite some time. We'd definitely stay here again! read more

We returned here for 5th time. Each year the Inn gets more attractive and charming. Parker was a very helpful host. We were totally charmed by this B & B just a few minutes' walk from the Davenport Piano Bar, where we had tickets to see a friend's recital. The Inn was impeccably clean, modern, and was beautifully appointed, with thoughtful attention to details. WIFI was steady and strong. Plenty of restaurant choices are within walking distance nearby. Wicker Park Inn arranged parking for us (extra charge) in a convenient lot, with in and out privileges, about a block away. There was a very handy guidebook in our room with useful information and detailed travel directions to major attractions. Great for sight-seeing! The check-in person was gracious and helpful, and we were surprised that our comfy room also included a continental breakfast in the communal kitchen - not stale pastries, but fresh coffeecakes, overnight oatmeal, yogurt, fresh juice, and fresh pot of coffee. (There may have been fresh fruit - I don't remember.) Granted, the "L" does zoom by right next to the building (it was fun to watch from the kitchen window), but our room was on the street side, and the "L" did not disrupt us in the night in the slightest. We are looking for another excuse to stay there again. read more

I had a lovely visit at Wicker Park Inn in December! I booked through Yelp and stayed for one Friday night in Cape Cod Room. The room was very cozy and clean, and the host was friendly and attentive. The kitchenette area is cute and neat, and has some snacks available outside of breakfast. The host was out of the B&B during part of the breakfast time window, but quickly and apologetically set out food again when she returned and helped me check out. The pastries and fruit were fresh and delicious! They have a spot to store your luggage for the day before your flight, so that is really helpful. The location is blocks from many amazing Wicker Park restaurants and coffeeshops, but the B&B is on a side street that is pretty quiet and mellow. I felt totally fine walking around in the area at night, and there is a lot to do! Public transit (bus & train) is readily accessible. read more

In addition to the great room itself, the staff are so incredibly friendly. The front desk person I spoke with and the owner were both so happy to help with everything and so very kind. In addition they have a really cute kitchen with food for breakfast and also for snacking throughout the day if you need it. It's also in a great part of town with everything you could need within walking distance. We've stayed at Wicker Park for the past four Septembers for RiotFest- 3 trips in the Blue Line room, and this year in the Garden Apartment. We LOVE the Blue Line room- it's the perfect size for a long weekend with two travelers. The kitchen is stocked with the basic equipment (and it's HUGE). I'm pretty sure the bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept on, it really is one of my personal highlights of our stays. Yes, there is L noise- but isn't that part of the experience (?) and Wicker Park does disclose on their website the room may not be appropriate for light sleepers. I'm a light sleeper, and I rather enjoy the noise, it doesn't keep me awake and has only awakened me once (in 3 years). You do get used to it after a few hours, especially if you arrive late afternoon. We have noticed it takes a while to get hot water in the shower, but let's be honest, I'm looking for something less than glowing to say. So, you wait for the water to warm up for a minute or so. No big whoop. We stayed in the Garden apartment this year- which is not in the main building at 1329, but is across the street at 1326. Fun fact- 1326 N. Wicker Park Avenue is on the National Register of Historic Places. We're not in love with the Garden apartment, which isn't to say we hated it. Two large memory foam beds, which I didn't think were all that comfortable but I'm accustomed to a spring mattress. The kitchen is physically larger than the Blue Line room kitchen but I don't think it is as well equipped, primarily thanks to the lack of dishwasher. The room does have independent climate control, which is nice. We had extraordinarily LOUD and STOMPY upstairs neighbours for all of our stay, less one night. That's no fault of WPI, the didn't know they'd booked in a troupe of tap-dancing pachyderms. We did have a housekeeping issue in the Garden apartment that we discovered after the office closed on Thursday night, and Paul was there at a most reasonable "first thing" on Friday morning to correct it. It wasn't a major issue, but we appreciated that they took care of it so quickly. The room is a garden room, so that's basically basement. We found the room had a particular smell, especially after an overnight rain. Don't forget to change your parking permit daily- and to be honest, it's just easier to park the car, and use public transit. It can be difficult to find parking in the vicinity later in the evenings. You're walking distance from transit, nightlife, shops, some really good food at a really reasonable price for Chicago. I'd give the Blue Line room 4.75 stars, in spite of the train noise, and the Garden apartment a 3.75. read more

We stayed four nights in the Wicker Park Guest Room and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was great! The place and our room was charming. Our room was downstairs, just inside the front door of the main house. Noise was a bit of an issue. We heard the front door a couple of times, and we heard our neighbors a few times, but it wasn't a big deal. Breakfast was continental-style: croissants, scones, bagels, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juice, etc. My only complaint would be the weekend host. We stayed Thursday thru Sunday nights. Friday and Monday mornings the host was a very personable gal (unfortunately we didn't get her name) who was friendly, cheerful and helpful. The Saturday and Sunday gal was really sub-par for a B&B host. She was in the office that's just off the kitchen and only came out when we requested it; both coffee carafes were empty, so we had to ask her to come out to make more coffee. She was wearing a ski cap and padding around in her socks as though she was in her own living room. She reminded us of a teenager who'd been left to mind the shop, but her focus was clearly somewhere else. Perhaps she was only minding the place for that particular weekend? (Again, we didn't get her name either.) However, it was the only weekend we were there, and it's definitely not what you expect when you're staying in such a lovely B&B. read more

This is a great place if you're looking for a less-than-private "B&B" feel.. if you're looking for a lowkey retreat without intrusion, external noise, or overbearing staff, look elsewhere. My partner and I were looking for a relaxing couple of nights away from school but found this place SO OVERBEARING. "Housekeeping" entered our room the first morning there (even though signs said they come every two days) while we were still in bed and did not require their services. Check out was at 11 the next day, and housekeeping pounded on the door twice before that time (once, uncomfortably, while I was in the shower). "Do not disturb" signs were not provided in my room. At 10:40 they pounded and yelled "CHECK OUT IS AT 11" through the door... uh, we knew that... and were out by 10:50. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. Felt more like staying at an overbearing parent's house than a restful getaway. We followed all of the many rules for the duration of our stay, left the room in great shape, and did not deserve that treatment. Calm down. Also worth mentioning: the sign in the bathroom threatening a $25 dollar charge for a single makeup stained pillowcase (w other price points listed drastically higher for other hotel essentials from there) made me feel on edge. I'm a good hotel guest, always sure to clean up after myself and treat spaces w respect. Why go into the hospitality business if you're going to be intrusive and threatening, while doing the bare minimum to make guests feel at ease? Maybe this just wasn't the right place for me... but, honestly, I'm a reasonable person who travels frequently and spends thousands of dollars on excellent hotels a year, none of which have ever made me feel so unwelcome. This leaves me wondering... who IS this place for? read more

This is the place to stay if you want a true experience of Chicago city living. Wicker Park / Bucktown is an incredible location. Its important to really stress; that its CITY living; so you're going to hear train noise; you're going to hear neighbors, maybe people in the street. The location is safe; the area is amazing, with food excellent food options within a 1 mile radius that will satisfy any walker's dream. Experience what its like to be a "local" in the WP area. Highly recommend. Great staff; and again; you can't beat the location. OR you can pay $500 / night for a hotel downtown and pay $80 / night for parking, and eat boring food. read more

Fucking adorable. The street, the house, the rooms, the whole thing. Crap-your-pants cute, seriously. Despite being just a block away from all the booze, wee-hour hookups and skinny jeans of Milwaukee Avenue, Wicker Park Inn is quite quiet and completely charming. If you're like me and you traipse in at 4:00 am soaked in gin and eating a taco, I recommend the Tuscan Suite -- it's a few bucks more, but it's on the ground floor and has a separate entrance, so you won't bother any of the more buttoned-up B&B guests. And at $150 a night for a huge room that slept three, it's totally reasonable -- in fact, it's on par with a downtown hotel, but with the added bonus of nightlife. And did I mention the cute factor? Our son and daughter in law recently moved to Wicker Park. We have never been to Wicker Park and searched for a place for one night. Came across Wicker Park Inn and gave it a try first. We were very impressed. The room we had was excellent with a wonderful king bed. The staff (Charlene) was very attentive. We were extremely lucky to be one of the two vehicles to use the garage. We were within walking distance to our son and a huge variety of restaurants and shopping. The Blue Line runs directly behind the Inn and after reading other reviews, I requested a room on the front of the Inn. We could hear the train but it didn't affect our sleep. I wake up early and had to make coffee in the kitchen which was no problem. Breakfast was good for us. More of a continental type. I would certainly stay at Wicker Park Inn again. read more

Ooooooooooh, i love this place! It's on Wicker Park street and in the heart of Wicker park, but trying to find is a bit confusing and to be honest I find that quite charming! It's almost feels like ur in a small quaint lil' town. The inn it self is very well kept. It's obvious that the decor for each room was thought out with care and dedication. My husband and I find ourselves in Chicago about 8 times a year visiting family. We usually stay downtown but decided to try something different as we had heard good things about Wicker Park Inn and it was closer to our family. We were delighted with the location and it is very sweet inside. Unfortunately, we had the most inconsiderate neighbors staying above us with children that were running around and screaming until 2:00am. Because it's a B&B there isn't any night service or anyone to call and send over to the room. It seems the walls/floors are possibly thinner than a typical hotel as well? Instead of a cozy night's sleep, we were up until the kids finally fell asleep and it was all in all a dreadful experience. The price of our night's stay was actually more than our usual hotel so it didn't make the experience any more worth it. I would suggest putting families on the first level? Possibly enacting a curfew? Banning that family from ever returning?!?! read more

We booked the full inn and 2 apartments across the street for the weekend of our wedding on 11/1-11/3/19. It was PERFECT! It was so convenient to have family/wedding party all in one place and it was the perfect place for the wedding party to get ready. Guys got ready on the first floor, girls on the second in the large kitchen/dining area. Laura, the owner, was super kind and responsive to questions as we were planning the weekend. She first had me and my husband tour the Inn and then my parents toured later - she was so kind and welcoming. The breakfast the Inn made both mornings was so good, and they were also able to accommodate dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free). They let us host a small dinner on Friday night in the dining area with people who weren't staying at the Inn- we ordered take out and they set up larger tables for the whole weekend. Staff were really kind and accommodating. When our photographer arrived they re-cleaned my room so the photographer could take pictures of me getting ready. This was an incredible space for a big group/wedding weekend, highly recommend! read more

Overall, my experience at WPI was pleasant. The innkeeper was so charming I wanted to pack him up and take him with me! It's a good neighborhood, especially for dining, and everything was clean and serviceable. However, "serviceable" is about it in some places and they missed a lot of details. I stayed in Cape Cod, which was okay but the bathroom had a lot of problems: no soap at all for the sink; exposed anchors in the wall from a previously mounted shelf; the pedestal sink overhangs the toilet so you have to lean forward while using the toilet because there's not enough room; the shower floor is wobbly; the waterproofing was gone from the shower door, letting water out onto the floor, etc. This bathroom could use a serious upgrade. I peeked into other rooms, and they were all nicer than the Cape Cod. If I came back, I'd get the lovely black-and-white room on the ground floor. It has far more privacy than the upstairs rooms, but is still on the quieter (non-train) side of the building. It is by the front door, however. A note to Cape Cod residents: Your door is directly next to the Provence room. Since their bathroom is down the hall, guests in that room tend to open and close their door frequently, which can be loud. I recommend ear plugs, since there isn't much sound insulation. On the flip side, the train noise wasn't a problem for me. Breakfast isn't much. I tried a muffin that was awful, but the danish was good. There was no cream of any kind for coffee, which is a major oversight. Eat at the Bongo Room instead! read more

We recently moved to Chicago and were fortunate enough to find the Bucktown Apartment while waiting for our home to be finished. The Bucktown Apartment is across from the Wicker Park Inn and is run by the same amazing staff. It is lovely three bedroom apartment in a historic Wicker Park home. The apartment is a quick 5 minute walk to the blue line, either at Damen or Division, and also a short walk to any kind of restaurant you might like to find. We can't say enough about the friendly, attentive staff who is available 24/7. The apartment has 3 bedrooms, a fully furnished kitchen, a full bathroom, Direct TV, and free WiFi. There is also parking available for a small fee. I would highly recommend this apartment for a short or long stay if you need a place to stay in Wicker Park, Bucktown, or Ukrainian Village. We were very happy to call it home for 3 months this past winter. read more

We stayed in the Bucktown Apartment, which is across the street from the B&B proper. It's a 3 bedroom apt with a full kitchen, so the "breakfast" of b&b is not included, but it's great if you want to stock up on bagels and fruit and have breakfast in your jammies. One note - the website says it sleeps six, but two of the bedrooms are pretty small. The room with the trundle bed would be completely full of bed if you pulled it out. Luckily, there were only four of us, so it was perfect. The location is great for dining, shopping, and bar-hopping, and offers easy access to the blue line for hitting other neighborhoods. Definitely recommend, and we hope to stay there again! read more

By far the most comforting night's sleep I've ever had while traveling for work. I truly wish I could stay in a place like this every night. Located in a great neighborhood, you can easily walk to several great restaurants and bars nearby. The rooms are so cozy and clean. Avoid this like the plague- unless you enjoy bad service, the El running through your bedroom, and BUGS. I stayed at the inn for a night in September 2014. First off, after making my reservation I received a lengthy email requesting a two hour window for my check in- noting that I should respect the staff's time and that I would be charged $25 if I arrived outside my window. I specified that I would arrive between 3-5pm and received a confirmation email about this time. I arrived at the inn at 3pm. No one was there during my arrival, I phoned the number for the inn 6 times for over 45 mins and left multiple messages, however, I did not receive any response. Finally, at 3:50, a staff member leniently strolled down the street. She said she didn't know about my window and assumed I'd arrive at 5. She was extremely unprepared for my arrival. Although I was told there would be wifi, there was none. The network they told me to connect to did not exist. I called the manager- she said that they would reimburse me to use the cafe down the street. While I appreciated this, I wish they actually did have wifi available. I left my receipts at the inn, I have yet to hear how I would be reimbursed. Although these things were had, the cleanliness and location were the worst. The inn was DISGUSTING. There were ants everywhere! Ew. Also, the El runs directly out the backdoor. The blue line that runs 24/7 sounded like it was in my room with me while I slept. I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. UGH. read more
