When I was a little kid I'd visit my grandparents in Corpus, TX. On the way home we'd pass this odd red building, an A frame; Der Wienerschnitzel. We never stopped. I never ate there and I've not been back to Corpus in nearly 20 years. I'd forgotten about it until a few years agowhen I spotted one while driving with a friend in Alameda. But still, I didn't visit. That ended yesterday. After being aware of them for some 35 years, and knowing they didn't serve German food, nor schnitzel, for that matter, I finally had lunch there. I'm not a big fan of hot dogs, for one. And personally, if I'm going to spend more than $1 on one, it had really better be out of this world! I mean, how much can a roll of bologna cost? Afraid I would be disappointed, I ordered a burger and $.99 corn dog with a side of chili fries. The corn dog was OK, maybe worth $.99, but not as good as Fletcher's corn dogs from the State Fair of Texas. The burger was small for $2.80, the size of most other place's dollar menu burgers, but they did put on a lot of lettuce and a big slice of tomato. The chili fries were tasty and with ample chili and cheese, but I like my fries thicker so was a bit let down here. The place wasn't dirty, but it was the type of place that a day's worth of cleaning wouldn't make it look clean. It reminded me of eating in a run down Dairy Queen somewhere on the back roads of Texas.. While I would not make a special trip to the E. Bay for them, I'd go again just for the nostalgia. Always get a tasty ALL BEEF hot dog (or turkey) with shredded cheddar cheese, mustard and relish. Very good. The regular hot dogs are a homogenized concoction of beef, pig and chicken and that sounds too mysterious for me. (Yet, ALL BEEF can still be less desired parts of the cow, but please don't tell me about them in detail, okay?) Good service at front counter. I have very fond memories of Wienerschnitzel from my childhood, coming here with my family when it was further down the hill.... After this visit, I think I may have just had my last Wienerschnitzel corndog. When I went, it was a very cold day so we decided to eat inside to stay warm and the first thing I noticed was the smell. A homeless man was in the corner yelling to some guy in line in front of us. Didn't bother me as he wasn't hurting anyone, but when we sat down at a table to enjoy our food that same man began yelling at us from across the room and even came over to the table to continue yelling. While this isn't something that Wienerschnitzel had done to deter me from eating there, this experience was enough to make me think twice before trying to enjoy a meal at the place. The food wasn't worth the experience. Maybe when they find a new location I'll try again. Thanks but no thanks Wienerschnitzel. read more

WORST service EVER ! I went in with a $3.99 coupon . I was charged $5.45 ! I told the clerk she made a mistake . No reply . I said show me my coupon. She refused. The "manager" heard me and came to the counter . I told her I was being over charged. Show me my coupon. She showed me a coupon. It wasn't mine . That coupon was in color on glossy paper. Mine was in black and white on news paper print . She said " No, all coupons the same ". I went to the Castro Valley library and photo copied the ad. When I got back the manager was no longer there. I showed the new manager the ad . I was told " that's a old coupon ". ( It said " good through 11/ 30 / 15 ". This woman refused to accept the coupon as well . I told her I was going to file a complaint , and she just laughed. Is this how they teach employees to treat a senior citizen ? I won't be going back as long as those people are still employed there . I've never been treated so poorly by any service people in my life... read more

This place is good.. has fast service and a bathroom. Not much room to sit because the building is small, but overall a good lunch spot.

Love these hot dogs. Very inexpensive and you get plenty. Corn dogs are recommended. Not b better than Caspers but better than Kaspers.

The food is delicious but the customer services recently been poorly. I really wish the cashier girl wouldn't throw a nasty attitude towards people especially people who just say 2 orders and be done while she just rolls her eyes towards people. I rather go to Casper's up the street on C st instead because at least they give you a conversation without being nasty about it and their hot dogs are yummy. Yesterday, I was in fat and carbs heaven. Me and the kids ordered 2 chili dogs, a chili cheese fries, 2 regular fries, and 2 hamburgers. I had at least one bite of everything on the table. My hamburger was HELLA screamin. It was made fresh. The fries were hot and fresh too. It was cheap, tasty, fast food. This used to be my favorite place for lunch since it is close to my job and I love the root beers. But on my visit on 12/20/2017 the cashier Teresa G was very rude. I ordered the thousand island chili cheese fries and she only rung me up for chili fries. I informed her of her mistake and instead of apologizing and rectifying the problem...she put blame on me and told me I ordered what I clearly know I did not order. When I asked to speak to a manager I was shocked to see that the manager was standing right behind her making the food. So instead of the manager correcting her employee's attitude toward a loyal customer, she instead pretended like she heard nothing. After she finally decided to fix her employee's mistake I took my food and sat done. I heard them both talking about the situation and mocking me in their conversation. Needless to say I will NEVER return to that restaurant again! I would advise others to get your hot dog, chili cheese fries and root beer fix somewhere else also. read more

I'm loving their 5 corn dogs/ hotdog for 5.95 deal! What a reasonable price for my family and I that are on a budget. Their food are amazing it's so fresh and so clean. I really love the workers, they are so nice including the manager. He is so outgoing and loves serving people. I never go there that often but when I do I love it when you enter the doors with a nice fresh breeze. I do recommend this place even though it not popular than other fast food networks. read more

As fast food goes, this place is not my favorite. It's pretty greasy and soggy. The staff is nice and the food is cheap, though. The one reason we have come here multiple times is because if you sign up for their online "club," they give you a coupon for a free chili dog at sign up and then another coupon for a free corn dog during your birth month. So my husband and I have redeemed those and then gotten other things to fill out the meal. With the coupons, it makes the meal very affordable. I will say that the place was really hot inside when we wanted to dine in - it's like they had no AC on in the middle of the summer. read more
