It's really nice to have Japanese hibachi grill in Holland. This is a nice little place with a nice atmosphere that serves typical hibachi fare plus a few common Japanese dishes and sushi. While this may not be the most authentic Japanese restaurant, it's still a decent one, and it just about the only choice in Holland. You would have to travel quite a ways to find a more authentic restaurant. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. The place is also divided into three seating sections: the sushi bar, the standard table and chairs, or seating at the hibachi grill. The grill seating provides entertainment in the form of the various tricks the cook performs. This would be great for children. read more

I'm always hesitant to come to restaurants like this located in some sort of strip mall type of plaza. Then again, in a small suburban town they all are sort of set up like this. I was surprised by the prompt and cordial service. I tried my sister's pina colada and it was pretty good. We got some really nice hot towels to clean our hands. We got salads with our meal along with an onion soup that we split, and it was decent. I was very surprised by the tasty california roll. They had a thin layer of rice on the roll as it should be. Some places heavy up on the rice and you get filled up faster. This was way better than 2 of the sushi restaurants that I've been to in Grand Rapids. I can't believe I could have gotten good sushi here in Holland all this time. We also tried the chicken teriyaki and the Yakiniki and shrimp combination hibachi. The meat was very tender and the flavor of the sauces were really good. The prices aren't too bad, and they have specials throughout the week. I would definitely come back. read more

I will say though, over the years this place seems to get more dirty. They expanded last year, which I was excited about, but put in a huge bar that I have never seen anyone sit at. It's used mostly for stacking restaurant supplies on. The layout of the restaurant is all wrong too, but other than that- the staff is super nice and my sushi is always good. read more

We stopped here for a dinner going back to Chicago. This place has four stars because there is no competition around. The place is worn down but has a great service. Sushi itself is a little overpriced. The rolls taste alike. The rice was soft and fish amount was just right. Overall it is average sushi place, nothing exiting. read more

Very fresh sushi, Got 3 sushi special rolls rainbow, ocean, & firecracker. Ocean best. Restaurant could be spiffed up. Didn't see it as unclean, just unkept. Paint, decor, etc needed a little work. read more

Great looking from the outside. A little run down feeling inside. Poorly painted one-color walls in the asian standard lime-green. Hundreds of pictures on the walls of previous people there is pretty cool idea. Very friendly staff and a lot of hibachi tables. The food was pretty good. I actually enjoy the food a little better at Kobe in Grandville. Overall, it's a solid place to go in Holland to get away from the boring Applebee's/Logan's/Fridays/Tuesdays/Texas Roadhouse/Buffalo Wild Wings which all seem to be almost the same resturant, just slightly different food. read more

The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. There were some food allergies that we had to avoid and our waiter took great care of us. He checked everything and even made sure that our food was prepared separately. We always appreciate when restaurants take special measures to ensure there aren't any food reactions! Visiting holland, mi and found this restaurant on yelp! all of the reviews (dated or not) are spot on - the food is delicious, the atmostphere is a "dive." the booth seats are comfy//the walls are decorated with pics of previous parties/customers against a loud green color. The Avacado salad was good, but nothing special. I ordered two special rolls and they were plentiful and delicious! the waiter was helpful. the hibachi seats had a good crowd and it appears the restaurant is renovating and/or expanding because there was work being done in the "back room" during the dinner hour - it was quiet and did not disturb me as a patron. I recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and craving Japanese or sushi cuisine. read more

I used to order sushi from here quite often as it was really the only place around with sushi. Yet on 2 separate occasions I became seriously ill. The first time I pushed it off as I must have gotten the flu (I already had a cold). But the second time I became Ill, it was to the point of hospitalization. At about 3:30am, my stomach ache/nausea turned to violent vomiting amongst other symptoms. The severity of it and dehydration ended me up in the hospital with an IV for 2 days. I had ingested a stomach parasite that I had to be on rounds of medication for. NEVER will I go back there. Also, in the news in Holland it was told that many people became sick there during that time. read more

This was so bad... Nebayaki Udon looked like something out of horror movie. So many ingredients that didn't belong in there. The tonkatsu was over cooked... The miso soup was so bad...hard undercooked tofu.. Nebayaki Udon also had dumplings that were 1/2 cooked... Didn't tell us that they would charge for green teas... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! The Hibachi is fantastic. Get double white sauce, put it on everything and be happy.

This was probably the worst experience that we had at a hibachi place ... the food was terrible... I had the filet and scallops and my husband the filet and shrimp... the fried rice was subpar, the filet lasted like the cheapest sirloin that you can possibly buy ... on thing edible was the shrimp. They over sauced everything so might as well not give you the side sauces as those would have been drowned out. I can't believe the good reviews... it like the experience outweighed the taste or simply people had no other hibachi experience so couldn't really compare. Will never go back- glad I did the groupon so at least I didn't have to pay full price for this awful meal. read more

This place had decent food. Maybe not the best sushi I had but it tasted fine. They had lots of special rolls to choose from but they seemed to be mostly made of the same couple things in slightly different combinations. I had the tuna lovers roll which was good but it lacked the pretty precision appearance you see at many sushi places. However the truth is, regardless if it looked I rolled it, it did taste good. I've eaten teppanyaki here and it was decent; nothing spectacular, but entertaining watching the chef do their thing. Came here tonight to eat sushi and it's OK as well. They have a lot of options for rolls which was nice, BUT half of our rolls were kind of disappointing. We ordered the Tokyo and Ocean Delight roll which was the best tasting of the rolls we ordered. The other rolls had spicy tuna in it, but the spicy tuna was poorly made...it was not spicy at all. It actually tasted like mushy fish mixed with some kind of mayo sauce that wasn't even good. I'd come back only cause it's the only sushi place I know of in Holland, but will ask if the chef can make their spicy tuna spicier next time. read more

I travel all over and am lucky to have this fabulous little sushi place right where I live. Their spicy tuna rolls can't be beat - the toasted sesame seeds make these rolls awesome. Try the Holland Roll too - a shrimp tempura roll that's simply decadent. The staff is very friendly and provide great service. The sushi chefs are friendly as well and very skilled. I have the hibachi occassionally too. It's also very good, never disappoints. Whether you have sushi or hibachi, be sure to enjoy the chef's fried rice with a side of white sauce. Wild Chef deserves 5 stars for a number of reasons. Their food is amazing. You can't go wrong with the habachi or the sushi. The habachi rice is awesome. If you dip it in their whiteish sauce it is even better. I have tried a number of the habachi dinners and I have never been unsatisfied. Their wild chef sushi roll is also delicious. They also accommodate well to groups. I would reccommend having a reservation as it gets packed in there. However, I have come numerous times with large groups of people and they always have a spot for us. If you have not been, try it. Their 2 for 1 deal until 6pm is also a steal and clutch for all of us Dutch Hollanders pinching our penny's. read more

Great sushi!!! The habatchi is also good. My family gets the habatchi while I get the sushi and have never been disappointed. I recommend u get the white sauce on your salad over the ginger sauce. If you want a great place to have a group of friends with great food this is perfect. Or if you want to sit in the booth area you can order the same items they just cook it in the back. (You get a ton more). Drink options are good and a decent list of Sake to try. read more

My friend and I go at least twice a month (if not more). They have 1/2 off sushi from like 5-9pm and it's really good. I've never experienced the hibachi part but it seems fun and will definitely have to try it some time. The staff is nice and efficient and there isn't ever a wait. read more

I've been coming here for years now and I love the food. I can honestly say I haven't had a bad bite yet. With that said.....this is the dirtiest place I've ever eaten at. The tables, walls, windows and everything in sight has a nasty greasy grime on it. I wonder how they can pass a health inspection. I am usually not a fan of asian food but this was really good. We ate at the hibachi grill and the show that the chefs put on is great. I got the scallop hibachi and it was perfectly cooked. If you go there make sure you try the white sauce that they serve on the side. Delicious! It may be a little expensive but for the amount of food they give you it is extremely reasonable. I had the most unpleasant dining experience. Firstly, Our waitress was extremely unfriendly (would walk near the table and stare not even ask questions), forgot to grab drinks by the time I got mine the ice had melted down & ruined it (Mai Thai) when we got our food I noticed my sushi looked a little lifeless, not made well and the meat wasnt colorful... I decided to try it since I was hungry and had ordered three rolls (had three pieces) & told the waitress something wasn't right about my food... I handed her my entire plate of food and asked to speak to her manager...she rudely rolled her eyes at me and sent over another woman. This woman clearly had no table side manners either asked that I still pay for the food since I had three bites, I told her I wouldn't be paying for my meal but would gladly pay for my sons food and the drinks. She continued to argue with me over why the food wasn't up to my liking... I said "look I'm not going to argue over why the food isn't tasting well to me, I would like to speak to the owner!" So she sends a man to speak to me & he actually seemed to some what care about what I was saying... offered to take off the three rolls off my bill, at this point it should of been completely taken off all together or at least offered another meal but that did not happen (very unprofessional establishment) the man continued to tell me it's fresh new fish... If that was the case I doubt I would be at HOME from WORK with the most upset stomach, cramps & sweats. I posted online a picture of the food; under it saying how I had sent it back and guess what a day later magically what most would say as "food poising" taking over my body! Two others had commented that they no longer eat here for the same issue happens to them. I googled the restaurant it has been closed from the "Noro Virus" getting over 300 people sick... I am not only letting my boss down by not being to work today but my son, as I wasn't able to drive him to class. Oh and to top it off, I was charged before they even fixed my bill. I am writing about the very ODD groupon they have going on. Giving them three stars out of courtesy. Have not eaten there yet but have purchased the groupon. Have written the website 4 times now without response asking questions about their $67.90 value GROUPON special for $36. I keep asking just WHAT is the value that we are paying for ? The items which would make this the legitimate offer are not available to the consumer to order. (anything with lobster in it or the seafood trio). Most other choices barely breach the price of $36 that we paid (if that). Just writing to make others aware of this ODD GROUPON deal. Will be eating there after the groupon expires unless someone in the company has the courtesy to write me back and explain what is available at the cost as written in the value of $67.90.
