This place is a must when I come visit Bend. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time because it can get busy. The food is so dang flavorful. This time around we ordered 2x crab fried rice (you won't regret this choice), the beef street noodles, and khao soi. I must say, i was blown away by everything but the beef street noodles was the star of the show. The beef was thin sliced amongst savory noodles. It was comforting and exciting at the same time. Wow food was so so so good. I would say the best thai place I've been to in Oregon. We've been to a lot of Thai restaurants in Portland but nowhere serves some of the type of food that Wild Rose have. The soup was really good. And som tum and grilled chicken with coconut milk, omg the chicken was super soft and flavorful. Mussels hotpot the sauce was so much flavors, a little salty but it's perfect with sticky rice. Khao soi was on point, perfect taste and great. Our least favorite would be the wings, its good but not the best taste of Thai wings we've had. Customer service was awesome. Was very put off with the reservation system on a Sat evening but luckily a last min cancellation came through. Got the basic dishes like pad woon sen and spicy basil. Got seated right away on a tuesday afternoon around 1:30. (They have lunch specials on weekdays from 11 am - 2 pm. Smaller portions and cheaper). We got the grandfather's tom kha soup which was really good- a nice lemony coconut milk flavor but wasn't too heavy. The khao soi curry was also one of my favorites! It reminded me of a massaman curry and i really like the crispy toppings for the added texture. The northern sampler was a nice appetizer style dish with lettuce wraps, meat, and papaya salad. We also got the pad mamuang which was a little salty and spicy but still good. The service was also super fast- our food was brought out so quickly! Quite simply the most authentic and flavorful Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. We had been hearing about this restaurant as a 'must try' when visiting so the 4 of us got a reservation and settled in for our meal. Drinks are amazing and they have a full bar. I had the Oregon Trail (hold the dysentery). Super. We started with Thom Kha soup which was incredibly flavorful and delicious. We also got the chicken wings which were absolutely divine. Both were spice level at 2 and I think we could have handled 3. Main course was the basil pork and street noodles. We licked the plates. Do yourself a favor and get these items at your next visit. Now, full 5 stars for the amazing meal but that was not the end of my experience. After dinner we went to several breweries and sampled numerous local libations. I had one too many and got sick which included throwing up.... Y'all this food tasted almost as good on the way out as it did on the way in. It made the puking less painful and more flavorful. One of my favorite Thai restaurants with a diverse menu and quaint setting. Prepare for choice overload with the menu, and consider taking a look at it before you get there. The staff is friendly can help you narrow down your choices. Went at 5pm on a Saturday and the two of us were seated immediately without a reservation. If you have a larger group or are going at a peak time I'd recommend getting a reservation. The bar also looked like a fun spot to sit. If you're thinking of swinging by during dinner time, be prepared for quite a wait. This is definitely a highly frequented spot by both locals and visitors. We stopped by at around 6pm as walk-ins and was informed of at least an hour long wait. Luckily, the waiter was able to get us a table within 10 minutes. This seemed to be a rare occurrence though, so if you're thinking of dining in, I would highly suggest getting a reservation ahead of time. Interior feels cozy and warm with their dim lighting. There's enough spacing between the tables for conversations to feel undisturbed. They also have several tables indoors with side paneling which may be good options for those who want more spacing and privacy. In terms of entrees, I got their Kar Nar Moo Krab, which was crispy roast pork and Chinese broccoli on a bed of white rice topped with a fried egg. This was really filling and flavorful. Really generous portion, I was only able to eat half. I did see some bone on some of my roast pork, so just something to be mindful of when eating this dish. I also tried their Tom Saap soup, which came piping hot in a mini burner. The soup definitely brought a spicy and hot kick. Unfortunately, the lemongrass and lime was was too overwhelming for my liking. Definitely not something I would drink by itself. I had mine along with my rice to dilute and cleanse my taste buds of the super limey flavor. Genuinely the best Thai food I've ever had. Our server was awesome - we relied on him to recommend his four favorite entrees that didn't contain shellfish. He crushed it on all four. Finally, spice! Finding spicy Thai food in Bend has been a little more challenging than anticipated. This place is a gem from the food to the atmosphere. We went for dinner and started with the Gai Tod Nam Pla (chicken wings) and the main dishes were the Pad Woon Sen (glass noodles) and Guay Teow Kua Gai (street noodles). The spice scale is 1-5, we are used to 1-10 scale but the server let us know that 3 is where to start (if you like spice) and he'd bring out spices to up the heat. For us 3 was not hot enough but we were able to add a few things to get the heat up. For our friends, they thought 3 was perfect. Can't wait to go back! Tips: Make a reservation, start at a heat level you're comfortable with and add from there, also order a side, the portions are OK but not "family" style, and even if you're familiar with Thai food expect to spend some time looking at the menu read more

Not real Thai. It's like each recipe for each dish was modified in a very odd and 'unique' way, that strays from Thai to just not good. For example, one of the curries comes with uncooked vegetables on top. Whole tomatoes and raw green beans. Also, another dish came with some cooked onion, and some raw. I see no reason for this, other than both poor cooking and poor meal prep. Service was good. The ambiance is good, but there are dead roses on the ceiling causing pedals to fall onto table and food. This was the #1 recommended spot to visit in Bend (according to a friend who lived here). Though we couldn't get dinner reservations, we stopped by for a late lunch and snagged a table. The staff was incredibly attentive and we had our food in no time. The broccoli in oyster sauce was tasty and a plate was more than enough of a veggie side for two people. The sweet sausage and rice dish was also a solid option. The rice croquettes over lettuce were delicious, with the perfect amount of fresh mint and lime to liven up the dish. A lovely dinner of what felt like home-cooked Northern Thai food in a comfortable setting with friendly, not fussy service. The restaurant asks diners to make reservations online, wait outside the restaurant before being seated, and wear masks except at the table, and there are large plastic dividers between tables. This is probably overkill now that COVID-19 guidance has evolved, but I appreciate that the restaurant is trying to be so diligent. On to the food. Here's what I tried. I enjoyed all, though none really blew me away. PRO TIP: The spice level of 1 to 5 is definitely adjusted for folks of Western European heritage who cannot handle spice, so a 3 here is what would be a 1 in any country where spice is common. Wish I had ordered a 5 of everything. - Northern Larb Kia (ground pork with rich pork blood, dried spices, and pork belly, cabbage leaves for wrapping, cucumber, pork cracklings): Thangwa (stir fried cucumbers with scrambled egg, garlic, and aromatic spices): flavorful, not oily, a nice twist on the more standard larbs I've tried before, though it could have used more punch of spice. - Som Tum Tod (fried papaya salad with vegan fish sauce dressing, chiles, green beans, peanuts): I found this a little greasy, but my dining companion loved it. It reminded us of the Vietnamese fried crepe Ban Xeo, except it was easier to eat as the dressing is already put on top. - Khao Soi Curry with Chicken (yellow coconut curry broth, egg noodles, shallots, pickled cabbage, crispy egg noodles, green onion, cilantro, lime): nicely flavored Khao Soi and the broth was spot on. I think it could have used more lime and much more pickled cabbage, and the shallots could have been more thinly sliced to avoid getting super pungent raw shallot, and the chicken could have included dark meat and been cooked in the broth for the flavor to really seep into the chicken and vice versa, which I realize would make it harder for the restaurant to make it vegan for vegan diners, etc. Still a very enjoyable rendition. read more

Wild Rose REALLY wants you to be sure, and trust me--you really want to be there. Anyways, we showed up a bit early around 4:45 on a Sunday but were seated right away. Wild Rose staff should teach a masterclass in efficiency--Thai Iced Teams were out instantly, and our food (see below) came out of the kitchen in what felt like 5 minutes. - Northern Larb Kua: I'd describe this as a much more interesting version of a pork lettuce wraps, but with cabbage. If you've ever had Boat Noodle Soup, the pork here really reminded me of that dish, as the herby flavors really shine. This dish was interesting and enjoyable, but didn't hold a candle to our other dishes (only because the other two were INCREDIBLE). - Yum Khao Tod: Other resturants describe this as a "crispy rice salad", but it's really somewhere in between that and a fried rice. The crispy bits are incredible for texture, and I can't imagine how anyone could dislike this dish. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser. - Sukiyaki: THANK GOD the menu specified "Not Japanese Style", because if that description wasn't there, I would not have ordered this. But the sukiyaki will haunt me for the rest of my life--it was love at first bite! It was spicy enough for me, yet pronounced in other flavors, and just overall a work of art. I find the vast majority of stir fried glass noodle dishes don't absorb enough flavor, but this sukiyaki dish was seriously the complete opposite. Greeted from a friendly staff bringing us to a table in the middle of the restaurant gave a casual and friendly tone, after going through the well detailed menu with many menu options it was so hard to choose. Settling for the Kow Gai Tod and the curry basil noodles, and a couple of Thai iced teas we patiently waited for our food. With music in the background being drowned out by close by conversations it was a wonderful experience even just waiting for the food.
