We were very impressed with our dishes! My husband ordered the glass noodle dish (pad woon sen) at a spice level 4 (they switch to thai chili's at this level) and it was full of flavor. The veggies were super crisp and fresh! Cooked so well! I ordered the kombucha squash and LOVED it. I was nervous about the grapes but they actually added such a yummy flavor! And, something else unique about this curry was the bite size kombucha squash... why doesn't every thai place do this?!? Very satisfied, highly recommend. You always see people saying places are "the best Thai in town!" but seriously, this is probably the best Thai food you'll ever eat. We were blown away by our meal. This place was packed on a Monday, and we understand why. Make reservations in advance! We had one dinner when passing through Bend, and we're so glad we chose here. The curry basil noodles were easily some of the best noodles we've ever had. Never had anything like these clams - usually they come in a broth, but this was a full, thick, curry-like soup. Broccolini was simple but still had excellent, demanding flavors that complemented the rest of the meal. We would drive from Seattle to Bend just to eat here, and we wish that was an exaggeration. One of my favorite Thai restaurants of all time and it never disappoints. After mostly getting take out because they were so busy, we finally got to eat at the restaurant recently and it's even better. Perennial favorites: Green curry (usually with tofu) - this is fresh, delicious, and herbaceous. The best version I've ever had. Tom Kha Soup - fragrant and flavorful. We got it with the chicken this time but like many places, they use chicken breast so it's not as tender. I would stick with tofu or shrimp. Kow Pad Boo - crab fried rice. So good. Gang Om - more herbaceous than the green curry and this one doesn't have coconut milk. Really good. We also tried this time: Gang Hung Lae - pork sparebits with peanuts in a rich dark curry. Good with sticky rice. Gang Hoh - a delicous glass noodle dish with flavor base of fermented bamboo. It adds a slight sourness and light funk to the dish. If you are familiar with the taste of the Chinese style chili bamboo you get in jars at the asian grocery stores that is normally eaten with porridge - it's a similar flavor profile. Highly recommend this place, it's hard to get similar Thai food elsewhere. read more

We would have said we loved this restaurant but recently it has changed. The service is not very good. While the food is great, they just changed another dish to have shrimp paste. one of our family is allergic to shellfish and the only options are 3 noodle dishes and a soup. the person who took our order didn't have an up-to-date ingredient list so we had to make changes which made our meals later. they changed the hen dish we loved and one our party said now it has a bad aftertaste. ​I would delivery steer clear if you have a shellfish allergy, its a crowded restaurant so I would also skip at busy times. in general if you have a lot of time the food is great. read more

Let me start off by saying I've been here 25 times and it's the best food possibly in the state of Oregon. Been all over Thailand too, this place is way better. We visited recently, food great, everything going fine, then the trouble started. We had been at table for less then 45 minutes where the waiter announced we only had 30 minutes left to eat and then they had another reservation. We were annoyed but didn't engage and kept to ourselves. Then he came back 5 min later and said it again. Then 5 minutes later again. Then we snapped. We explained we also had a reservation and we're trying to enjoy our dinner and ask he kindly leave us alone. We had ordered 4 main items and were going to order 2 more (way more food than most people and $$$ for the restaurant too) and he then refused to serve us and said it would have to be takeout and we would have to get up and move to the bar, absolutely nuts. Even at this moment, we still had 20 precious minutes left on their arbitrary timeline. We refused to leave for another 45 minutes out of spite and surprise, the entire restaurant was half empty, there was no other person waiting for our table at all. The waiter was so brainwashed into "maximum efficiency" at all costs he couldn't step back and realize we were some of their best customers and just let us enjoy a nice meal. We were going to spend another $40 or $50 and instead they got a smaller bill and zero tip. Bare in mind; this all happened 45 minutes after we sat down. Not 2 hours. Not 3 hours. 45 minutes. It was surreal. We even noticed multiple other tables that sat down when we did also were still there. Even a McDonald's has better service than this. This place seems like they really just want to do to go orders and they have absolutely no care for their customers. I've been to thousands of restaurants around the world, and even places that do have time restrictions, it's a loose guideline for over lingering customers, this guy was worse than the soup guy from Seinfeld. They practically had an alarm clock on your table telling you to GTFU every few minutes. I'll probably come here again but want to express my extreme displeasure with our waiter and the owner who was aware of the entire issue and refused to talk to us and hid in her back office after we asked nicely to discuss the issue with her . Not a good way to retain customers, and we know a lot of people in Bend who we will be making sure know what hap We discussed this with several other folks at a nearby bar later in the evening who told us "oh yea they are horrible about that now, may as well just get takeout, they have no care for their customers and run the place like a food truck." It seems that if they keep up this behavior, then a food truck is likely in their future. We've been to a lot of Thai restaurants in Portland but nowhere serves some of the type of food that Wild Rose have. The soup was really good. And som tum and grilled chicken with coconut milk, omg the chicken was super soft and flavorful. Mussels hotpot the sauce was so much flavors, a little salty but it's perfect with sticky rice. This was possibly the best Thai food I've ever had- and I am well aware of how bold a claim that is to make. I'm a guy that likes spicy food, and I've been to a lot of restaurants that claim to make things spicy, but Wild Rose is the real deal. I ordered my dish with the maximum spice level, and it put me on a Wild but delicious ride. Oftentimes when restaurants make their spiciest dishes, they can be devoid of flavor or nuance- with the heat overwhelming every aspect of the dish. That was not the case at wild rose. As spicy as my meal was, it had incredible flavors that were not drowned out by the heat, but rather complimented and accentuated by the heat. We have always liked Wild Rose and spend a good amount of money each time we dine here. We went today for lunch and my wife ordered a drink that came out and tasted like chemicals. She told the waitress and she seemed put off that we were sending the drink back. Then when it was time to leave we looked at the check and the waitress was trying to charge us for the drink. We told her we sent it back and she said " I know that but you ordered it" . Not sure where she was trained or where she got the balls to try and charge us but we were appalled. Cozy some have called it. Cluttered mix of dried flowers, little metal plates tacked to the walls, hard wood, straight back chairs, others might say. It was a busy night, but that shouldn't cancel out the personality of the server. When asked a question, he answered, adding nothing extra, sort of like the food. Spun on his heel when finished jotting down the order and gone! No attempt to make us welcome or chat just briefly, about the food choices... The four of us ordered different dishes, but when the large single bowl arrived for each of us, they were all the same color, brown. Two rice based dishes lacked color. Mine, a crab dish, was filled with enough rice for 3 people, and the crab was minced to the same size as the rice. For the price, I had trouble discerning the crab "bits" from the rice and chopped veggie mixed in. The crab flavor was subtle, not the hero of the dish. Another dish was the "croquettes". Problem is, they were crumbled up and looked just like the rice again - so there are no croquettes (usually little crispy rice balls) left! Just another brown colored rice dish. The flavor and crispy remains of the now-crumbled croquettes was recognizable at least. My water was filled once and the Thai tea was maybe the high point. No complaint on the service. Efficient, but like the dishes, lacking any color, just brown. Another diner had the marinated short ribs "small plate". This was accurate! Maybe 2-3 small short ribs and rice again. Not enough to share so I had no opinion of the ribs taste, just that the portion was truly small. In my opinion, their reputation exceeds their food. Lots of competition in town. Got seated right away on a tuesday afternoon around 1:30. (They have lunch specials on weekdays from 11 am - 2 pm. Smaller portions and cheaper). We got the grandfather's tom kha soup which was really good- a nice lemony coconut milk flavor but wasn't too heavy. The khao soi curry was also one of my favorites! It reminded me of a massaman curry and i really like the crispy toppings for the added texture. The northern sampler was a nice appetizer style dish with lettuce wraps, meat, and papaya salad. One of my favorite Thai restaurants with a diverse menu and quaint setting. Prepare for choice overload with the menu, and consider taking a look at it before you get there. The staff is friendly can help you narrow down your choices. Went at 5pm on a Saturday and the two of us were seated immediately without a reservation. If you have a larger group or are going at a peak time I'd recommend getting a reservation. The bar also looked like a fun spot to sit. If you're thinking of swinging by during dinner time, be prepared for quite a wait. This is definitely a highly frequented spot by both locals and visitors. We stopped by at around 6pm as walk-ins and was informed of at least an hour long wait. Luckily, the waiter was able to get us a table within 10 minutes. This seemed to be a rare occurrence though, so if you're thinking of dining in, I would highly suggest getting a reservation ahead of time. Interior feels cozy and warm with their dim lighting. There's enough spacing between the tables for conversations to feel undisturbed. They also have several tables indoors with side paneling which may be good options for those who want more spacing and privacy. In terms of entrees, I got their Kar Nar Moo Krab, which was crispy roast pork and Chinese broccoli on a bed of white rice topped with a fried egg. This was really filling and flavorful. Really generous portion, I was only able to eat half. I did see some bone on some of my roast pork, so just something to be mindful of when eating this dish. I also tried their Tom Saap soup, which came piping hot in a mini burner. The soup definitely brought a spicy and hot kick. Unfortunately, the lemongrass and lime was was too overwhelming for my liking. Definitely not something I would drink by itself. I had mine along with my rice to dilute and cleanse my taste buds of the super limey flavor. While the food is undoubtedly delicious, I have had two dine in experiences in the past month that could improve, both with high turn over and rush to get me and my friend out of the restaurant. The first we were approached at the hour from the start of our reservation and asked to leave as the next reservation was coming "in 10 minutes." Finally, spice! Finding spicy Thai food in Bend has been a little more challenging than anticipated. This place is a gem from the food to the atmosphere. We went for dinner and started with the Gai Tod Nam Pla (chicken wings) and the main dishes were the Pad Woon Sen (glass noodles) and Guay Teow Kua Gai (street noodles). The spice scale is 1-5, we are used to 1-10 scale but the server let us know that 3 is where to start (if you like spice) and he'd bring out spices to up the heat. For us 3 was not hot enough but we were able to add a few things to get the heat up. For our friends, they thought 3 was perfect. Can't wait to go back! Tips: Make a reservation, start at a heat level you're comfortable with and add from there, also order a side, the portions are OK but not "family" style, and even if you're familiar with Thai food expect to spend some time looking at the menu read more
