New favorite Thai restaurant in Phoenix. Amazing food. All three of us shared a bit of each others dinner. The gals shared Green curry, pad sie-ew, and I had mu yang. Delicious. Then we totally overdid it by having dessert. OMG! Mango cheesecake is amazing! Girls had deep fried bananas and mango sticky rice. Just an all around great dinner. I've been here several times, but have to admit it gets rougher each time. First off just be prepared to wait at lunch or get there a bit early, I don't fault them for that, it comes with the location. The service though, rush or not, has gotten progressively worse each time. Food is quite good, and I have not had any issues with how spicy, or not, the dishes I have tried here have been. I used to consider this a front runner in this part of town for Thai, but I think it is more on par with Hut and Elephant now. read more

I've been there twice and I have been happy both times. The hardest thing to convey to the waitress is that YES, I do want it Thai hot. Other than that and a small dining area (our "cold" winter nights are still doable on the patio, though), the experience is quality. Good food, well presented. Went out here for a friend's birthday party the other week. They were wonderful in accommodating the large party of 20 people that we had even though they don't have the largest of space. The food was wonderful. Typically, not too spicy for those with heat-wary tongues, but for the true spice nuts, they have dishes that will make your eyes water. The Dragon Eggs and Vegetable and Spring rolls were amazing. For an entree, I highly recommend the Tropical Fried Rice, Kimow, and Phuket Fantasea. Came to this restaurant near my hotel for dinner and it was packed on the inside, but they had the mist going on outside so the Phoenix heat was manageable. Waitress was nice and quick with the drinks for it being busy. Had the chicken spring rolls for an appetizer and they were deliciously crunchy, they come in orders of 4. For dinner I had the Kimow and it was also very good as it wasn't too dry, but just right. The beer selection could be a little better, but it is not bad. A lot of Asian beers. Also had a glass of mango juice that was alright, nothing special. All in all, if I were to come back to Phoenix and this area, I would come back to eat at this restaurant! read more

My husband and I decided to stop by and get take out since we had been wanting to try it out. They were very busy on a Saturday night which was to be expected. They asked us if it was okay to wait 30 minutes for take out and we were fine since they were busy and we didn't call before arriving.!As far as the customer service the woman was friendly until we declined to purchase drinks while we waited. We ended up waiting an hour before our order was ready. Which is pretty ridiculous. During the hour we waited we were not offered water or even acknowledged by the waitress to let us know how much longer until our food was ready. We ordered the pad Thai it was pretty decent. I enjoyed the food it wasn't great. We will probably give them another try but order ahead of time. read more

I heard of Wild Thaiger from diners, drive-ins, and dives and I am a huge Thai food fan, so was pleased to see a restaurant with such great reviews! I went on a Saturday night around 8:00 and only had about a 15 minute wait. We ordered the steamed dragon eggs as an appetizer and loved them! The cilantro and jalapeño slice on top really took it to another level worth the sweetness of the sauce. Then my husband and I shared the Kimow noodle plate. It was delicious, but I would ask them to add a little more heat next time. It was supposed to be slightly spicy, but didn't have much heat to it. Other Han that the plate was delicious and perfect to split with an appetizer! We will definitely be going back to try the coconut ice cream and hot pots. read more

Was excited to try this place because I love Thai food and generally the places featured on DD and D are pretty good. It was very average and I was disappointed for sure. The Dragon Eggs had a decent flavor but the filling had a hard texture. The "amazing peanut sauce" was good, not amazing, and the pork skewers were good as was the sticky rice but just nothing stood out. Service was fairly slow also. Sorry to be a downer. I may be a tad bit biased about the Wild Thaiger. I used to work at this establishment back in my high school days when the owners kept me on despite my less than exemplary work ethic, but that does not change the superb quality of the food. I have pretty much tried everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. The curries are absolutely amazing. The panang is spicy and sweet and the kiew wan has a zestiness to it that cuts through the spice. The Tamarind Shrimp is another personal favorite, perfectly breaded and fried jumbo shrimp drizzled in a sweet-sour tamarind sauce, with just the right amount of heat. The Pad Thai is amazing, and the Kimow is excruciatingly spicy and tasty. But perhaps the most attractive aspect of the restaurant is the vegetarian-friendly menu. This is perhaps the only place in Phoenix, nay, the world where my carnivorous family and my vegetarian girlfriend and I can truly dine together in peace. They have numerous appetizers and dishes which are strictly vegetarian, and most curries and noodle dishes can be made to accommodate vegetarian restrictions. read more

Enjoyed dinner on the patio - I had the Pad Cha Seafood dish rated "Thai hot" - the so-called hottest dish on the menu. The person I was with ordered the ginger fish - mediocre at best, although it looked great with a variety of vegetables and pineapple. I felt the dishes looked better than they actually tasted. The seafood (mussels, calamari, salmon, shrimp) in my dish was very fresh but it wasn't Thai hot at all. The ambiance of their patio was enjoyable and the Thai iced tea was very tasty although a little too sweet towards the end. I've been eating at The Wild Thaiger at least once a week for the last 3 years..Hands down this is the best thai food I have ever had! I have never been dissapointed by anything I've eaten here. The staff and owner are always friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable. I would probably eat here every night of the week if I had the chance. All of the appetizers are delish but the dragon eggs are probably my favorite, tasty dumplings with a tangy sauce topped with jalapeno rounds, so good! Their crab crisps are the best you will ever have! My favorite dish of the moment is the Rama of the jungle. Delicious melt in your mouth beef skewers with flavorful rice fritters and spicy green papaya salad YUM! All of their curries are amazing and so is thier peanut sauce. There is honestly nothing here I wouldn't recommend, I even like their tofu dishes, and normally I won't eat tofu. Oh and don't forget dessert, awesome cheesecakes and coconut ice cream, even a delicious chocolate cake. I had lunch here 3 days ago and ordered yellow curry. It was very good and pretty spicy which I really enjoyed. The curry was so good I went back tonight and ordered it again. What I got had to be the blandest yellow curry I have ever had. The curry really needed salt and it had no heat whatsoever. Very disappointing. I realize any resturant can have an off night so I will try them again in hopes of getting what I got days before. read more

Came to lunch today, we were a group of 7, service was not great, took a long time for orders to come out, and there was 2 orders that came out 5-10 minutes later than the others, so the food got cold as we waited to eat together. I honestly don't understand all the raves about this place. I saw it reviewed on PBS last Sunday and thought I'd give it a try. It was pretty Meh for me. Certainly not worth the drive across town. I ordered the Tom Ka Gai and their basil chicken. The chicken in both were like shoe leather--so tough I had to pull out the chunks of chicken and cut saw them with my knife. While the seasoning was pretty good in the soup it was very very thin and watery and there was a TON of strips of lemon grass in it that I had to try and pull out---like I had a total pile of lemon grass on a napkin when I was finished. The basil chicken was not much better. Watery sauce and minimal flavoring. I lived in Bangkok for two years. Honestly, the best food there is from street vendors.
