We have always loved the bread they make (available at Whole Foods) so were so excited to finally try this on our way down south. We've been back once. The actual bakery is more of a cafe restaurant. Highly popular with the locals. It was really busy serving breakfast when we stopped by and also seems to be pretty popular for lunch (our second stop). We took several baked items both times. I can't say that I remember them all, but everything was good quality. I do have a very good memory of the blueberry Danish. That was exceptional. Very fresh, right amount of cheese and fruit. What a GREAT place! I went there for a late Sunday Brunch. Fortunately Wild Wheat only serves Brunch all day on Saturday and Sunday. What a Brunch it is! The pancakes are wonderful as a plus they come with REAL MAPLE SYRUP (as God intended). Now you might think that since they serve maple syrup is why I gave them five stars - not true. The service was excellent the bacon was very tasty. The Late and Mocha were served at a perfect temperature unless you are like my wife you like to drink her coffee scalding hot. The food would be a lot better if you're able to get consistency. Sometimes the potatoes are well seasoned, sometimes the toast is burned, sometimes the egg portions are larger...it's pretty random. Weekends are always busy so arrive before 8! Weekdays can be a hit and a miss but it's fairly quick to get a table before 9. The service is probably the slowest thing on this planet on the weekends. Be prepared to stay for a long time just waiting on your food. Their bakery is pricey but pretty good if you come early in the morning. This place has their omelets FIRST, which I love, and none of them are things you get at regular breakfast places. 3. I was SO excited to try this place as it looked like they offered a few different things we'd enjoy but I unfortunately cannot recommend this business or their food. The service was a bunch of teenagers, which was fine accept when they were all joking and playing around and not attending to the business needs or patrons. The Ambiance... there was nothing worth notating... we can start at the restrooms, upon entering you smell human feces and both women's stalls had trash to include women hygiene products, overflowing. You could tell the restrooms hadn't been attended to in quite some time. The tables were sticky, no ketchup or syrup at the tables either. The food was mediocre with little seasoning, biscuits were dry but gravy was okay. The mimosa came with champagne in one cup and a cup full of pulp to mix into the champagne. It tasted disgusting! (They removed it from the bill but having a mimosa would have been nice) The staff was cleaning the dishes and eating in eyesight of the patrons. We even had to ask for more water. I tried Wild Wheat bakery for the first time with my mom and brother and boy were they busy! Granted it WAS Presidents' Day so it made sense. After about 20 minutes, we finally got seated but had to wait another 10 minutes or so before getting water or any type of service. Got our water and ordered the Wild Wheat Omelette and an eggs Benedict. Food came out fairly fast and looked delicious! My mom and I split the omelette and we let them know beforehand so they split it for us in the kitchen! The servings are pretty huge considering mine was half and I was still pretty full. But be aware that they do charge $2 to split it, it may be because they give u a little extra potatoes since splitting. Food was pretty good. I had a bite of my brothers eggs Benedict and the flavor was on point. The ham was smokey and hollandaise sauce was great and the eggs were perfectly poached. Located right by Kent station, Wild Wheat Bakery offers great brunch and baked goods! The heart of Kent station offers parking garages which makes parking easy, but if you're trying to get closer to the Wild Wheat cafe, then you might have to street park (parallel park). However, there is a parking lot that is actually nearby which offers free 2 hour parking! This is where I parked and found it to be super convenient and nice. If I can avoid parallel parking, I will. The place itself is actually spacious inside. I was pretty shocked by how much seating there was because people made it seem like you would have to wait a long time to get a seat. I can see why this place may get really popular and crowded, but am glad they do have ample seating. My friend and I were seated right away at a booth and were given our menus. The breakfast/brunch menu isn't huge, but they do have some really nice options. I decided to go with the eggs florentine after hearing so much about it. The eggs florentine comes on top of peasant bread. There is sauteed spinach, prosciutto and a poached egg with hollandaise sauce. It's almost like a little twist on an eggs benedict. I really liked the amount of spinach they gave and the prosciutto gave the dish enough saltiness. Eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was a perfect pair as you would expect. I actually really liked the peasant bread on the bottom. It does get a little soggy if you wait too long (got too caught up in conversation, shocker when good food is one the table!). The dish comes with home fries (potatoes) so the entire meal really does fill you up. I barely finished my plate and unfortunately did not have room for any of the baked goods in their display case. The ambiance is like a cafe/restaurant hybrid style and it does get a little loud in there. It's probably not the kind of cafe you're looking for if you're trying to sit down with your laptop and get work done. I'm not sure if it's the most ideal place for sitting down and catching up either. The noise level is pretty loud and I was straining my vocal chords a bit. But because I wanted to keep catching up with my friend, we decided to move to Kona Coffee where it was quieter to catch up. None the less, it's still a great place to eat and chat. Food was good, but not phenomenal. Service was on point. We were always checked up on and our waters were constantly refilled. I like this bakery for their freshness of ingredients and their diverse menu. The pastries are a work of art and very tasty as well. I am a lover of bear claws and they don't disappoint. The one thing I would say about the menu is I actually like their pastries better than I like their menu items such as eggs and sandwiches. I have ordered things off the menu a number of times now and sometimes they are not portrayed as in their description, or the description may need to be more specific. Prices are also a little Hefty and I would imagine that may turn some people off. Tablespace is nice, especially if you're sitting by the window as you can see many a train go by. You can also view part of the baking operation which I particularly enjoy. If you haven't gone I would definitely try them once, order a few items and see which ones you like best. read more

Horrible experience there yesterday. Plenty of staff milling around, continued to wait for even water and coffee, then one cup of coffee brought to our table was full and steaming hot, the other was a smaller cup, 2/3 filled, and stone cold. When I finally got someone to come back to our table, he took my cup, dumped it out, and brought it back. I'm pretty sure that was a dirty cup, so I didn't drink it. They messed up my parents' orders, and when we, again, FINALLY got someone to our table there was no apology, nothing. The waitress we had was rude, never checked back in, and seemed disinterested in trying to make any attempt at actual service. The final straw was the bathrooms which were absolutely filthy and disgusting. This used to be an amazing place to go for breakfast, but no longer. Will never be back. read more

My fave brunch spot in Kent! I live 5-10 mins away from here so this spot is very convenient whenever I crave for brunch! I first found out about this place years ago while I was in HS and have never made a review yet. This restaurant has definitely gotten more popular and busy over the years. My favorite go-to dishes are the Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine. Both are to die for! Their hollandaise sauce they put over their eggs benny is so so so delicious and it makes me want to come back for more lol. However, I do think they should've made their eggs a little bit more runny. I personally love the look and taste of a runny yolk on the inside. Their lattes are also good. I love their caramel latte and it has the perfect sweetness to it and cream to top it off. I've also came once for their lunch menu and got a sandwich. I prefer their breakfast menu more but I feel like I should give their lunch menu another try next time. The service there is also fairly quick. Expensive for what you get ($12.12 including a $2 tip for two pastries and a cup of drip coffee!). This place is definitely the meeting place of choice for independent contractors talking with clients. The service is extremely fast, prompt, and friendly. The pastries are absolutely delicious and wonderfully unique. The drip coffee is not that much different from any cup of coffee that you would get at a greasy spoon restaurant. (Hence why the price was a little surprising... but it's mainly the pastries you are paying for, not the coffee of course) Nice street parking downtown atmosphere, but if you park out on the street be sure to lock your car... There are quite a few "urban campers" walking around, peeking in garbage cans. Note: It's LOUD. Lots of shouting (albeit friendly), but if you are in anyway hard of hearing, you will have an extremely difficult time. Note also: no WiFi. I don't think they want people camping out, even though there is plenty of space over by the bathrooms for single people to sit., No WiFi is typically a sign that the owner is an old person who doesn't realize how essential WiFi is for an establishment. My husband, our little girl dog and I came by this placed last Tuesday around 12 pm for lunch. I let an employee know inside that we plan on eating outside. As she followed me outside, she grabbed some menus so that she could give it to us right away. After looking over the menu, we ended up getting: Wild Wheat Vegetarian with complementary side of cream of mushroom soup, $11.95 prior to tax- All sandwich entrees come with a side of either fries, salad or cup of soup. The soup of the day on our visit was chicken noodle and cream of mushroom. The cream of mushroom was really creamy and rich, truly delicious (not healthy for you though). The sandwich was a basic caprese sandwich with pesto, tomato and thick mozzarella slices on top of a toasted kalamata olive bread. Loved the flavors of the olive bread. Truly a delicious combination that is perfect for lunch and rather filling. East Coast Italian Sub with complementary side of cream of mushroom soup, $13.50 prior to tax- My husband also opted for the mushroom soup. His sandwich is a typical Italian sub sandwich with salami, cheese and ham. He had thinly sliced lettuce, tomato slices and red peppers in this sandwich too. The balsamic vinaigrette helped to really pull everything together, all on a nice crusty baguette. Delicious sandwich and filling. Slice Of Nut Bread- Moist thick piece of bread that I would describe that it is more cake like. The sweetness of the bread and savory flavors of the nuts really make this a great snack. This was taken to go and consumed a few days after it was purchased and still very moist. Slice Of Chocolate Bread- Also moist and thick that I would also describe taste more like a piece of cake. The chocolate flavors are light but can also taste a vanilla flavor in the bread. This item was also taken to go and consumed days after purchased. ----------------------------------- (Total= $33.09 after tax, prior to tip) Service was attentive which surprised me because we were sitting outside. The only problem I had with our meal was towards the end when this pesky bee kept buzzing around and trying to eat our leftovers (as I was trying to put it in a to go box for later). But the restaurant has no control of it. Food and service was superb. The ladies' restroom was clean and adequately stocked with the essentials. I've been wanting to come to this place for a while and finally got the chance to try it on New Year's Eve for brunch! The wait was 15-20 minutes for two people, which gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. After getting seated I ordered the Meat Omelette and my boyfriend ordered the pancakes with strawberries. Wait time to get our food was pretty standard for how busy it was so no complaints there! My boyfriend's pancakes were good with the strawberries, but a little too sweet once he added the maple syrup on top. The omelette though... DELICIOUS. The potatoes that came with it were perfectly done too! I also really liked the berry jam they had on the side with the toast! I would definitely go back and order the Meat Omelette again. I'd also really love to try their chai and hot cocoa drinks since they looked so good! (A ton passed by while we were seated). I just wish they had almond milk as a milk alternative since I'm not a huge fan of soy :( Not a deal breaker, but it would be amazing if they had that option one day! read more

I don't know the young ladies name ( slim caucasian gal) looked like her name might be Sam late 20's , didn't really seem to care about her customers at all . She was very inattentive , never once came to refill our waters or ask us how we were doing or how our food was . The restaurant was not that busy at least her section wasn't and I'm all around disappointed . I've never felt the need to leave a review until today but I hope that if I ever choose to come here in the near future I NEVER experience what I did today . Finally made it to Wild Wheat for an afternoon brunch! Got there early to meet my friend and was seated quickly. There were many seats available so not a packed house by any means. I sat for 5-10 mins while waiting for my friend and finally got up to ask for a glass of water. The food was fabulous! After we finished eating I had to get up to ask for a box and the check (we were catching up and chatted a lot so we were there a while) as the waiter did not visit the table one time after the order was placed. I've been coming here since I was in high school. Really good food and the people are very nice. I get a really good hometown feeling when I come here. The food is classic American good food; coffee can be hit or miss. One thing I have notice is the interior was a little more dingier the last time I came. There were crumbs in the display that looked like it had been there for a while and there was dust on the shelf. Today just was different ... got in around 11 and was informed that they were only serving the lunch menu. All jokes aside I really have only had breakfast and brunch here and didn't even really know there was a brunch menu! We were pretty bummed but decided to give it a go anyways ! Our waiter was amazing, he did such a good job, was warm, friendly and knew what he was doing!! The lunch menu portions were very big which was definitely a bonus. The breads are all amazing, making for the perfect sandwhich! Their POS system went down as we were leaving which was kind of an inconvenience seeing as we had somewhere to be and i was fairly disappointed that after waiting 10-15 minutes at the counter no one apologized for that inconvenience.
