This place is so amazing. I have been here twice and it was good both times. I'm a huge fan of the Challah bread. I pretty much ate a whole loaf by my self when I was there. One of the best soup and salad combo's I've eaten so far and I really love the home fried potatoes. It's also pretty awesome that they have espresso in the building (they make super cute designs!) and a great fruit bowl. Been here twice now, thought I'd give it a try and it dissapointed me yet again. Brought ppl both times and they said the same. For a bakery, walking in and smelling chemicals doesnt give me a good feeling. Sitting down to stale bread (both times), not even tasting that good didn't make it any better. It was noon and the place was busy. They leave the bread out on top of the counters instead or air tight. Ordered a sandwich and it was bland.. chicken club.. not a lot of bacon. Friend ordered an italian sandwich and there was hardly any meat with the veggies taking up space. Bread was huge and when he poked the toothpick through it it snapped in half. Service is good, food is average, and the environment is nothing like I'd expect in a place that has Bakery in their name. read more

Nice place but you get a lot for lunch - Too much. They should cut down the lunch size. It is friendly and I was seated promptly. Service was excellent and the food was good - but not cheap. I ordered a corn beef Reuben and it came out in a reasonable time but the price includes soup/salad and you can't get 1/2 a Reuben. They also serve you a basket of bread while you are waiting - a nice touch although I thought - for a bakery - the bread was bland. Not sure why so many people received such slow service. We walked in and they seated us right away. The waiter came right up and asked us for a drink order and left us some really good wheat and olive bread in a basket with butter. After a few minutes, he returned to take our order. He was very sweet and attentive to us. It was about 10 minutes or less before he brought our orders: a hot chicken club with pasta salad and a Wild Wheat Vegetarian with cream of mushroom soup. The pasta salad was pretty good. S gave the club thumbs up. My sandwich was a little heavy on the balsamic for my taste but otherwise, really good. Snaps on the choice to use olive bread. The soup was the only element that was meh. They used something lighter than cream which was great, but it lacked much flavor so I used it as a dip for the much more flavorful bread. The portions are generous. A half sandwich with soup would have been plenty. S didn't finish his salad. The food is good, but as far as lunch goes, it didn't blow me away and the soup was mediocre altogether. Also, I found the prices a little high at $10 average for a sandwich. I've eaten here approximately 13.7 trillion times. This is the kind of place that, when I'm getting really annoyed with my job, I think "Ya know, it would be awesome to open a place like this." But then I remember that most bakers have to wake up at like 2am to start baking, and I start wondering what the market for fresh baked breads at 8pm would be =) I rarely order hollandaise based dishes in restaurants - but this place is busy enough that you know it's fresh made. The eggs benedict or eggs florantine are my usual dishes - both are great. The desserts at the counter are very good, especially the mocha cheesecake. My buddies omelette was sent back twice for the wrong order and everything on my plate was cool, the toast did not even melt the butter, my potatoes were cool, my omelette was lukewarm. The tastes were all good but I just think that the day before New Year's was too overwhelming for them. They didn't appear to have enough help & the Cook's must've been extremely overwhelmed. Good food, horrible service. I was there maybe 40 minutes total and the waitress came by three times to ask if she could clear our table. The first time, wasn't even ten minutes after we received our food. The third time, my sister in law had food mid air trying to feed my nephew and she again asked if she could clear our plates. I understand that they get busy and get a rush of people but if I'm paying $20 for a omelette; i would think they would give me Time to enjoy it. Our first breakfast experience in Washington happened to be Wild Wheat and it really didn't disappoint. My gf and I are really carb conscience right now but we indulged in the amazing, fresh-baked toast they offered with our plates. Seriously, some of the best toast I've ever had. My quiche was equally as delicious. So fluffy and buttery, it almost melted in your mouth. Normally I wouldn't mention the side bowls of fruit that comes with a lot of plates but in this case it was a welcome surprise. I feel like a good amount of breakfast places the fruit is very lackluster and probably a day old. Not here. It looked as fresh and tasted perfect as could be. You know that fruit was prepared hours ago. Service was great as well, no complaints. I guess the only negative would be the prices. They are just a litttle high I think. OK, unpopular opinion here, but I hate this place. Overpriced, limited menu, and the ambiance of an ugly high-school cafeteria. Painfully noisy, and usually either too hot or too cold. The food is average (often served cold, always underseasoned), but the portions are small and the price is outrageous. Service is mediocre. I'm always getting bullied into going here, and it's worse each visit. I just don't get the appeal. Seriously. I prefer McDonalds. I come here about once every couple of weeks. The menu is a bit sparse but straightforward. The salmon omelette is a favorite. The service is usually on the non attentive side best to not be in a rush here. Potatoes are bland and for the most part boiled without touching a pan. Toast often comes out cold. Despite those things the staff is friendly and the ambiance is nice. Fresh flowers on the tables are a great touch. Good sweets available at the counter and decent coffee. If the food and/or the service was more on par I'd say 4 stars but honestly they just pass as acceptable. I still enjoy eating here. It is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Kent. read more

Back in the days when I was going to Harvard on the Hill (GRCC... Go Gators!) I used to go down to Wild Wheat for lunch. For those of you not familiar, it's about 7 miles--a bit out of the way. The reason why I was willing to make the trek (and take friends many times) is that the food is really quite good. This place sprang up as a response to the new courthouse in Kent and the need for lawyers to have a place to eat. Normally, that sort of sounds bad, but Wild Wheat is a very nice execution of routine upscale American food. Everything I've had there has been good and I've been many times. The breakfast on the weekends is really quite good, and lunch is always solid. In my mind a 4-star rating means I would go out of my way to go there... and I did that almost every week I was at Green River CC. It's a great place to go if you don't want greasy spoon food in downtown Kent. read more

Great staff, great service, great taste, great options- every time I've visited over the years (1-2x month). I wish a few more options for the kids breakfast, and seating by front door gets chilly in cold seasons, but those are small recommendations on what's an overall very solid establishment. They've recently expanded their house due to all the business and I hope they continue to entertain later hours - it's a cafe, sure, but I'd love to dine for dinner here one day, as well. read more

Nothing quite like walking into a place for Sunday brunch and being greeted by the fresh smell of baking bread. I can't believe we never found this place before, as it's only a few blocks from Kent Station. Items we ordered: Lox in the usual bagel, cream cheese, & capers formula Cappuccino Mocha Florentine something-something (with Hollandaise sauce) Tasty: all of them, including the toast that came with. Although I couldn't handle more than about half the Florentine. The restaurant is full of plain blond wood tables (the kind I find refreshingly clean-looking, and adds to the airy atmosphere), what we saw of their kitchen was impeccably clean, as were the bathrooms, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She forgot the bacon we ordered, but we were grateful, as we would not have been able to fit it into our stomachs anyway. The coffee was prettily presented and tasty. It did take a little bit for them to get around to seating us, but they were forgiven quickly once the menus and surrounding tables' dishes were glimpsed. We also bought a loaf of wheat bread, which thus far has gotten no complaints. Note this cafe is located on a quaint block of old-style downtown stores, perfect for a quick promenade after brunch. We'll definitely be going back to try an omelet or two, or three. I only wish they had Belgian waffles, but hey, that would make them perfect, and we can't be having that, can we? Also, dishes were reasonably priced. I only rated the price range above $10 each due to ordering delicious fancy coffee. Street parking on Sunday morning was surprisingly easy, despite not lot. I found this place on yelp and went based on the reviews, but my experience on Sunday 10/28/12 about 12:30 p.m. was not very good at all. First we walked in and the place smelled of bleach. We were seated near the window so the smell wasn't so bad. We had omlettes and the eggs had a funny after taste. I thought it may have been my imagination due to the bleach smell but I had taken some pasteries home with us to share at work the next day and we ended up having to toss them because they too had the same strange after taste. My office mates agreed and one actually spit the bear claw out. I'm very disappointed that I drove 9 miles and spend 40.00 on such a poor experience. Whatever was going on in the kitchen that day was a disaster! I had looked for an email to write the bakery directly but haven't been able to find one... hopefully they will see this and fix it since the rest of you seemed to like it. My son ate only two bites of his eggs but was able to finish the toast and home fries which didn't have the same after taste. Okay, why did I give this place only 2 stars? Hmm...? Well for starters, let be begin by saying that the food pictures you see of this place are more than what meets the eye. Actually, less; much less. The wife and I went to this place because like anyone who scrolls through the photos of their food pics, we couldn't help but to wanna check it out for ourselves! We arrived and were greeted by a gentleman who took our party size and name. "Two and an infant, please." There were a lot of people there and it was pretty loud. Our baby woke up but stayed calm because she's awesome like that! We were seated about 10 minutes later and were told that our server would be right with us. 10 minutes... 15 minutes... No server. During that time we were able to notice how limited their menu was. It set us up to believe their menu was limited because they were masters at the little they made. That wasn't the case. Also, it's important to note that the delicious photos we saw on Yelp failed to mention the outrageous prices. Finally the server arrives and offers us drinks; I want to say his name was either Eric or Carlos. (Spanish decent looking fellow) We ordered two waters and asked to order our food because we already had plenty of time to decide. We both ordered the Eggs Florentine ($14.95 each) and we also ordered the blueberry pancakes ($9.95) to split. The food arrived really quickly which was okay... But a little too quick. One of those, "all the food is pre-made, we just spend the time plating it" quick. The florentines, at first sight, one would think "wow, nice portions!" But once you start moving your fork around, you find out real quick that they are masters at the art of embellishing. You quickly find nothing more than a small poached egg placed on the edge of a long slice of sour dough bread, the other 75% of the slice is used as foundation for the potatoes (or home fries,) making it appear to be a generous portion, when really the potatoes were just piled atop of a thick piece of bread. My guess is that it was probably about a quarter cup of home fries. The ham under the poached egg was extremely salty which took away from being able to enjoy the dish. So let's deconstruct it: two slices of bread, two small eggs, a 1/4 cup of potatoes, a 1/4 cup of salty ham, spinach, hollandaise sauce; Definitely not worth $15.00! The pancakes were okay... Not worth $10! Came with 3 medium-sized pancakes and a cup of maple syrup. The server came by once like 2 minutes after we received our food to ask how everything tasted, that was the last time we saw him until we got the bill. Water refills? Ain't nobody got time for dat!! Overall for the price, you'd expect decent service, good portions OR least quality ingredients like all organic/raw... Didn't get any of it! Total was $50.75 included tip. Let's start here: 5 for the food today; 3 for the unbelievably loud restaurant. There was no way to have a decent conversation on Mother's Day with my hubby and kids. I understand they're crazy busy but there has to be some way to dull the noise level here. It's always this loud and it ruins the meal. The food: OMG! I've been here a few times. The food is consistently delicious. This time around, I had the portabello mushroom omelette, potatoes, and whole wheat, hazelnut, currant toast with a side of "gourmet" sausage. The omelette is HUGE - enough that I took half home - with tons of mushrooms and super sharp cheddar cheese. The potatoes are delicious - nicely browned on the outside but soft and yummy inside with a great garlic and herb flavor. The toast was such a nice addition to the breakfast - well toasted but not too hard with a great chewiness and had a great flavor with the hazelnut/currant in it. Let's just talk about the "gourmet" sausage for a moment. I really dislike the addition of gourmet to anything. It's a label meant to sell people on the item but your food is either delicious or it's not. I am critical of anything labeled that way and was expecting your standard factory made sausage. When my plate came out, I eyeballed my two decent sized patties. Huh...there were visible pieces of onion and herbage in these nicely browned patties, likely evidence that they made their own sausage mixture. That bodes well for my plan to devour them in their entirety. One bite of this bit of divinely inspired goodness and I was sold. Put whatever tag you want on them, this sausage earned it. So very delicious that I HAD to make sure my hubby got some of it, too, and gave him my second patty. If that's not love, I don't know what is. Daughter #1 got Raisin Bread French Toast. It came with 3 large slices of nicely done French toast. She thought it was good and was able to eat 2 of the 3 slices. (She routinely eats more than I do so I was surprised she had some to take home.) Daughter #2 got Pancakes. Her order came with 3 large pancakes plus syrup. This child can eat 9 regular sized pancakes so I was hugely surprised when she had 2 to take home with her. (I was not surprised to discover that she polished them off for breakfast this morning.) Both girls had vats of hot cocoa and whipped cream, too. Their coffee is nice and robust without slapping you in the face. We had magnificent service, never an empty coffee cup or water glass, and our waitress was professional and friendly. It probably was because it was Mother's Day but I don't care. The service was very good. Of course we'll be back, probably for breakfast but I'm not ruling out any other meals, too! read more

We really wanted to like this place. The bakery items looked amazing. Unfortunately the service was horrible. We waited maybe 30-40 min for a table which was completely fine and expected. What was not expected was that we sat for literally an hour after being seated with no drinks. This was after placing our drink order 3x's. Twice with the same server. The manager/hostess came by the third time to take our drink order and I advised this was the third time we were placing just our drink order and that we had been waiting an hour. She just said that they were busy. Waiting an hour for coffees and orange juice and having to order that three times is ridiculous. Being busy is not an excuse when you keep seating people and can't serve the people who are already seated. Why we had not walked at this point is beyond me. I think because we kept hoping they would finally get their act together. Unfortunately that didn't happen. The shame was the food came out cold. It was tasty but cold. Spent almost $50 on breakfast for two adults and a 6 year old for this kind of service. Unfortunately we won't be back :(. I say unfortunately because the baked goods looked amazing. read more

Stopped by for a treat on Sunday morning early. Bought 3 chocolate croissants, one almond croissant and one bear claw. $20! That is crazy expensive for very average pastries. Chocolate croissants were lacking chocolate, almond croissant had barely almond inside - mainly on the outside and bear claw (just like almond croissant) was super dry - did not seem fresh. I wonder if they were from the day before as I came in early. Very disappointed. $3.50 per pastry is expensive - better buy at Safeway. Not impressed for sure. It use to be good. Now Trisha is gone, I come to this place way more often. Their food is not outstanding or excellent, and ever since I ate at this restaurant almost 7 years ago, they NEVER, EVER, changed their menu, not even an item as been added or removed from it, it's just the same, all those years. The only item that changes is the soup, and most of their soup is decent. The location is sweet if you like watching trains go by once in a while, the price is quite high, but this is a not-bad restaurant in the old-town Kent for a nice lunch. read more
