Food was old, cold, and sloppy. When I went here, the worker on the front counter was quite rude to me and when I went to pay, she swiped the card, said it was "declined" and then said they had to try it on a different register and ended up taking it to the back. I was shown no receipts or proof of this decline. Luckily, my friend paid for me, bad news is, the food was awful. I couldn't finish it. And to my surprise, my card was charged 3 times for 3 different amounts. I would stay away from this place, they are fraudulent, overrated, and not worth the money paid. Had to go find out what the hype was. Had someone recommend this place to me and said if I was into healthy food then I would really love the Buddha Bowl. What a let down. Yeah, it's tons of food. Enough to share. However, it's only so filling because it's filled entirely with beans and rice (filler food), a little cabbage, and some meat. What turned me off the most was all that sauce they pour on there. They call it Asian dressing and it tastes like mayonnaise and it was overkill. I know there are worse things to eat, but I did not consider this a "health food"--not with all that sauce on there anyway. I figure I can go get a burrito bowl somewhere else with the same ingredients without all the sauce and a tasty salsa instead. The building is way too small and poorly set up as far as the line/register placement. Not a lot of seating. Luckily there are a few tables outside because it's way too crammed inside. I REALLY love this place. Hands down the best lunch in Redding. I am a vegan who struggles at times to find solid places to eat out, but Wilda's has been a pleasant addition to my list of great places where a vegan can eat in NorCal. The ingredients are always CRAZY fresh, and the food is an absolute STEAL considering their prices. The staff is awesome and the atmosphere is hip. Parking is tough, but suck it up....it's worth the hassle. As I vegan, I opt for the Vegan Buddha Bowl (no pink sauce) with no tofu, extra Asian Dressing, Extra Cilantro. Just order the 'Andrew' Buddha Bowl....I'm sure they'll know what to do. If you are a Redding area vegan, put the Kale chips and hummus down and head to Wilda's for lunch. read more

So so good! The only thing I've tried on the menu is their falafel, which is frustrating because every time I go there I tell myself "This is the time I try their Buddha Bowl!" But I never do, because their falafel is just SO FREAKING GOOD. It trumps the Greek Shack's falafel (sorry guys!). Can't wait for their extended business hours and second location that opens on Churn Creek... closer to my house! This place is crazy. It just hits noon and I am the second in line with my other hungry OC friend just before Wilda's Grill opens. And I feel some tension and anxiety because even the locals are quickly lining up (The woman next to me from Santa Barbara tells me she just came back up again for her second time today) A hot messy lunch for a woman on a 95 F afternoon: 1) Sweet potato fries - hot and delicious in my mouth. Tastes so freshly cut and cooked, I couldn't even tell it was deep fried. 2) Garlic dog made me have feelings of regret and victory (regret for stuffing my face with creamy buttery sauces and caramelized onions, artery clogging hot dog, tucked in between a buttery bun)...and victory that I actually finished eating this hot dog within 15 minutes, without messing up my makeup or clothes. Call in orders make it easier on me because I can just walk in, pay, and get my food a moment later. I finally managed to go and visit in-person (twice now, actually.) Quaint little place but busy as hell. It's pretty small inside but they do offer outdoor seating as well. They are known for their Chicken Buddha Bowls and falafels, which are great, and they also offer their own versions of hotdogs, salads, and other sides. I hear they are busy during their lunch rush, so I would advise to call your order in and pick it up. Only complaints would be lack of indoor seating and parking is limited in their lot. However, there's plenty of outdoor seating, though, not good when the weather is gloomy, and there is plenty of street parking. read more

I finally went here to try their Buddha bowl. To be quite honest it was a over priced box of shredded cabbage, beans, rice, and maybe 10 pieces of chicken. I will admit the dressing was tasty. So I paid my bill of $22.58 with my card and like a dummy I just signed the receipt without filling out final amount. Low and behold when I looked at my bank statement online I noticed they charged me $24.29 which is only $1.71 over my bill, but it the whole point. So I called them to point it out what happened and the owner/manager said it was probably human error. Normally I love my yelp finds while traveling, however I am only ranking this three stars for two reasons. 1. My lemonade was not cold, I would call it room temperature to warm and on a hot day the drink needs to be cold 2. This should be classified as a hot dog stand that added 3 veggie dishes to the menu. I saw it as the top ranked place for lunch and I was driving through town. Saw it was listed sandwiches, salad, vegetarian, gluten free so thought healthy. No salads and veggie options were limited to eggplant sandwich, falafel, and a rice/tofu bowl. Fries and onion rings too if you want to count. So I had a hot dog as that appeared to be the real menu offered. Tasty bun, and good portion for the price. Please be prepared to wait. Also, there is 3 parking spots and all the surrounding spots say they are "Reserved for _______ business and you will be towed" I think that's the only downfall. Very good sandwiches. I ordered the falafel and the pastrami. The pastrami was great and worth 5 stars. The falafel was just average. It could have used more falafel (increase quantity or size). The wait at lunch time was awful though with a long line and then no place to stand as they prepare my order. Next time, I'll order in advance and just put up with the long wait. I forgot to mention that there's very little parking and very few places to sit on the patio to eat. This business has definitely outgrown this building and site. read more

If you haven't been here, you must try it soon. Everything is good with an interesting variety not often found in Redding. There really isn't anything I would not suggest trying from the menu. The staff is always willing to help and do whatever it takes. Which is why I frequent it so often. I knew nothing about the area while visiting and Yelp pointed me in the right direction for lunch. Wilda's is a little stand-alone food joint with counter service and an eclectic menu. Based on recommendations I went with the Buddha Bowl to-go. I grabbed the meal and drove about 10-15 miles west to Whiskeytown Lake and had a nice impromptu picnic. The Buddha Bowl was refreshing, healthy, and cheap. It came in a 'chinese carry-out' type container and had the shredded lettuce on top and the tofu on the bottom. I wish the two were mixed, and found it slightly annoying that I had to try to mix it myself in a small to-go container with suboptimal cutlery. Perhaps this isn't a problem for dine-in. There is very limited space at the restaurant however so don't expect you can sit here. There was also a big lunch crowd, so I imagine most customers take their food to go. Overall, this was a tasty spot for lunch and I'd recommend it if you're in downtown Redding and need something to eat. read more

Had the bowl and it was yummy. But the ratio of the ingredients were not balanced. It's also not mixed up. The bowl is stacked from the bottom with protein, cabbage, other toppings and cilantro on top. (I didn't get rice/beans). About 70% cabbage. Tofu is DELISH! Better than the chicken. read more

This place was recommended to me about three weeks ago and we have been there four times since then. The Buddha bowl is a must try. It comes in a take out box with a fork/chopstick combination. The falafel is delicious, the sweet potato fries with aioli are fantastic, and my boyfriend said the hot dogs are quite good as well. Super short hours and definitely busy during lunch time.
