The owner of Wilda's used to work for a local non-profit helping local families in our community. She has a wonderful heart, and has created an AMAZING restaurant and business. The food is all natural and healthy - and - DELICIOUS! Seriously, I know it's kind of a pain in the a-- to try to park or get in there, but it is SO WORTH IT. So. Worth. It. My favorite is the chicken Buddha Bowl, extra spicy. I have heard the hot dog is "the best ever" - but I love the Buddha Bowl too much to ever stray from the menu. Wilda's is amazing! (It's like a food truck you would find in Portland tucked into a tiny downtown Redding shop) I have had the hot dogs, sweat potato fries, and of course the Buddha bowl which is a must try. I love the mix you get in your takeout box of avocado, cabbage, brown rice, spicy sauce, red beans, and tofu. This place does get insanely busy during lunch, I would recommend calling and putting in a takeout order if planning to come around noon. This little place has the best falafel in town! Everything about it is perfect, the falafel is never dry, always fresh, creamy cilantro dressing is fabulous and I generally do not even like cilantro. They are always very busy, for a good reason, they are one of the few Redding restaurants that serve palatable food. I suggest you call in your order ahead unless you have the time to wait in a long line. The fresh lemonade is always very good. My husband really likes the buddha bowl, but I find it to be too spicy for me. The workers are always nice and appear to be in good spirits to serve you. read more

I have been here several times and the food is always fantastic. It is a good idea to have some time available as there is always a line. But hey, that is a sign of how good they are right? As a fan of Wilda's mustard, I was really excited to read about this on Redding.com before it opened. I got even more hopped up when I read they offered falafels and other veggie options. So, one day, I decided to give it a try. Nobody needs to ask why I chose to visit with my ex about a week after we split, so I hope that didn't make the food taste less amazing than it should have. But, I digress. I ordered the falafel and that dude ordered the "Hot mess", a fat kid's dream concoction of chili, cheese, onions and jalapenos on a bed of onion rings, sweet potato fries and regular fries. It was lunch rush and the tiny place was packed. There is limited seating and it's a little shoulder to shoulder, so we chose to sit outside at the bar seating along the side of the restaurant (perfect for an awkward conversation, I suppose). The food came, and the thing that is immediately apparent is the size of the portions. My falafel was so big I could barely manage to eat it, and there was no way to eat in cleanly. It came in a huge, soft warm pillowy flatbread. The falafel itself was great, but I found the MOUNTAINS of coleslaw on top to be too sweet and cloying for the falafel. I think next time I will order with no slaw, or try the Buddha bowl. I ate a few bites of the Hot Mess, and it was too busy and confusing. The sweet potato fries felt like they didn't belong, and it was kind of a soggy mess by the time we were halfway through the meal. As for now, I found Wilda's to be just OK, but I will certainly give it another chance and update my review. read more

I'm completely head over heels in love with their Buddha bowl with tofu. Downside is that they are so popular, I don't have the time needed to wait in line for my call-ahead order during the workweek (I only get 1/2 hour and it takes that long just to get through the line). Also, they aren't open on the weekend :( I wish they would get some sort of online ordering system set up so you could pre-pay when you order - maybe then you wouldn't have to wait 30 minutes to get your takeout that's already sitting on the counter waiting for you. read more

I love wilda's. Their old spot was tiny but cute. My favorite is the falafel, with which I always get the lemonade. I have gotten the Buddha bowl a couple of times, one of which was chicken and once with the falafel. They get very busy at lunch time and the seating fills up fast. Great tofu Buddha bowls for $7! When driving north on Interstate 5, this is a great place to stop that's not a chain and isn't far off the freeway. Lemonade was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Lots of outdoor seating. We plan to try the falafel on the way home. read more

The stars of the menu are the falafel and buddha bowl. Both were very good and worthy of four stars. My only complaint is they do not have chili paste hot sauce like the falafel places in the bay area. They give you Siracha which doesn't go well. I had the Wildas dog and it wasn't as good as I was expecting. I think it is good for what they were going for, but after trying it I think a more simpler dog is more my taste. The Wildas dog is packed with a sweet flavor, which finishes with their spicy mustard. It has a huge glob of grilled onions, sourkraut, and bacon crumbs. Sounds good, but I found it a bit too much going on. Costco dogs are more for me. I also have had the pastrami sandwich. This is good and will cure your pastrami craving, but not nearly as good as a Togo's #9 with American cheese. I'll be back for the falafel and bring my own chili sauce. read more
