I was here for a 'holiday dinner' for work. We reserved the private room upstairs which has a long table...there were about 15 of us. We had a server designated to us and a pre fixed menu. The ambiance of the restaurant is great! Low light sets the mood. Seems like a great place to meet up with a friend for a drink or for dinner. They also offered a coat check. We had wood fired pizzas for appetizers. I had a salad, hanger steak and a cheesecake w/cranberries for dessert. Everything was delicious and I was very full! I even took most of the dessert home. This was my first time here and we were so impressed! The vibes are incredible. The restaurant is so pretty and well put together and the service was amazing. I really liked the spring peas & burrata over all the other salads offered on the menu. I really liked the use of sugar snap peas and the use of burrata. I didn't really like what they put on top of the burrata though. The mafaldine alla vodka was really good. It was a big portion and had really long pasta pieces. There was also a hefty amount of lump crab in the dish. The desert of chocolate cremeux didn't have enough vanilla ice cream on top (in my opinion). I was really excited to try Wilder - and we specifically went for Restaurant Week to try different dishes. However, I was disappointed to find that the vegetarian Restaurant Week option was a cauliflower dish - I asked if it was possible to have the sweet corn pasta instead since there were limited vegetarian options. However that wasn't possible, which was fine but I really wanted to try that pasta so I decided to forego the Restaurant Week option. They were out of the pull-apart rolls which I was excited about, unfortunately. I ordered the sweet corn pasta for main and then split the basque cheesecake and chocolate variety dish for dessert. Unfortunately the pasta was bland and a bit flavorless, and lacked salt or spices of any kind. Presentation was nice and the pasta was nice and stuffed with cheese and corn. The desserts were good - especially the chocolate one, I LOVED. The cream was rich, the chocolate was delicious, and the brownie bits were chewy and yummy. I do think some of the other dishes are probably better because my friend enjoyed his mains and apps (he got the Restaurant Week menu. Spent the weekend in Philly to attend a comedy club but decided on Dinner at Wilder. 10/10 location. The atmosphere was nice, laid back and relaxing. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Pasta was what made me book reservations so I decided to go with the Pappardelle Ragu, which consist of wild boar and seasoned to perfection. I was amazed at the taste and how flavorful it was. I was a bit nervous beforehand perusing the menu as there were definitely dishes that I thought sounded interesting but there were equally as many that did not. The options for the raw bar didn't really stand out, especially for the price, and neither did any of the other apps. We opted instead for an appetizer pizza, which I am finding is becoming increasingly common. The fall fever was delicious: beautiful fontina cheese complementing the mushrooms. Wish the crust had been ever so slightly more firm. Pretty sizable-maybe more than just a standard app... For pasta I was drawn to the mafaldine and am so glad I was. This is one of my favorite types of pastas and the vodka sauce was great. The highlight, though, was such ample amount of delicious crabmeat. My favorite meal of the night. We also got the Calabrian hot chicken. We were warned it would pack a spice and it really did. The piece of chicken is strangely large so we had plenty to take home. The crispiness in the setting of the spice was quite nice. There was a Caesar salad plopped right on top in the middle that seemed very out of place and probably didn't need to be there (it was still good? maybe it would have been better on the side?). Finally, broccolini as a side. Always love a good broccolini and this was cooked well. I wasn't familiar with tonnato sauce and this was a lovely introduction to this that I thought was a smart choice for this dish. The space itself is huge, I didn't realize there was a second floor until I started walking the stairs. The tables upstairs are a skosh cramped but not terribly so. The service left a little bit to be desired and it was difficult to get things like refills on water. The individual bathrooms were quite nice. read more

I'll be honest, I wasn't going to leave a review (unlike me, I know) but the spicy pizza was so good that I had to. Honestly wish I could have it every day forever; if I were to go back here, that is absolutely what I would get. We were originally seated at a table with a waitress who was truly unfriendly. We were directly behind the AC vent and were a bit cold so we asked to move tables. Once we moved, we had a different waiter who was much nicer and professional! Everything we ordered was delicious, but nothing blew us away or stood out. We ordered oysters, beets and burrata, paccheri ragu, grilled branzino and broccolini aglio e olio. Oysters were amazing and I would highly recommend ordering it! The ragu was rich and had a delicious base that wasn't too tomato heavy like most ragu. Loved the pasta noodles and again the actual meat was addicting and tender. Wilder is FANTASTIC. The menu is constantly changing based on what's in season so you know everything is fresh. We started with the Petit Plateau which came with oysters, shrimp, crab claws, tuna crudo and scallop crudo. As a table of four, we shared a blueberry burrata salad, sweet & spicy pizza, carrot farfelle, and the burger. Everything was delicious and was served spaced out so we could enjoy each dish. Our server, Ben, was so attentive and thoughtful. We had a few allergies at the table and he checked with the chef and bartenders multiple times to make sure everything we ordered was safe to eat. It's a great spot for a date night, but would also be perfect for a happy hour for drinks and a pizza. I can't recommend it enough! read more

I hate to be the minority here but I was totally disappointed by the drinks and the desserts. Ambiance is cool, I really liked the 5 different chandeliers and moroccan rug on the walls. For drinks, we got Skinny spicy no salt and Role call - both were so bad. Their desserts are the size of a main course. Think American portion sizes. The bomboloni, though fluffy and soft, is nothing exceptional. The pics don't do justice but they are just 5 big donut holes with powdered sugar and some blobs of peanut butter. The warm sticky toffee pudding is really good but only with the brown butter rum ice cream - which to be fair is equally delicious and the combination is bomb! After the ice cream is gone, it is just way too sweet and heavy for 1 person to finish. Also, who in their right mind wants to eat that much sugar or calories in one meal? Dessert should be something that you enjoy after dinner, not something that should make you feel sick. read more

Wilder is a gem. I love this restaurant. Located on one of my favorite streets in Philly, wilder is a lot bigger than you'd think from the outside. The tables are nicely spaced so that you get some privacy. We were brought upstairs to our table and our great server came to our table after a few minutes. He was just great: funny, patient and helped us choose wonderful dishes. Several among us chose drinks to start and they were all satisfied. I ordered the kombucha and enjoyed my beverage very much. For appetizers we enjoyed the Calamari-they were lightly fried and very sweet, the burrata-very good and the Pull Apart rolls. The rolls were really interesting and excellent. Our entrees included the King Salmon which was a generous and excellent piece of fish, the Malfadine that was superb pasta, the Smoked Maitake mushroom-really excellent, and the Chevre stuffed Cestini-also really, really good. Our dessert were the Pistachio Tarte and Rhubarb Charlotte. Both of them are worth the calories. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food and ambience. We sipped on our beverages for no more than 15 minutes before our party of 8 was sat in the first floor dining room. As we got situated & checked out the menu, our server brought over a complimentary pull apart bread with honey butter. We all agreed we could eat the whipped, airy honey butter on it's own, it was that delicious! Many of us shared different plates from the menu, but some of our stand-outs were... Malfadine ala Vodka: Best crab pasta in Philly - super creamy and filling! Pappradelle Ragu: Simple ingredients, yet very flavorful Figs & Burrata: Loved the sweet and salty flavors.
