Made a reservation on open table. When we arrived, told the gentleman that we had a reservation and gave him our name. He never bothered checking us in for Our reservations which isn't good because you get dinged on open table and can result in not being able to use the app. The ambiance was great and the restaurant vibe was Nice and chill. Our server came over to take our drink order. Unbeknownst to us the menus were old and I happen to order a drink from the old menu and when the drink came, it was not what I ordered. I asked the server about it, and he said that the menu was old and that he just substituted a drink That was similar to what I ordered. I asked him to take it back and just bring me something else. I was slightly irritated because he didn't even tell me that he was going to substitute a drink for me and didn't even ask if it was OK. After waiting for a bit of time, he finally came back to take our order. I ordered the pork belly Benedict as well a the ricotta pancake. The ricotta pancake was absolutely amazing. The pork belly Benedict was very dry and overdone. It definitely needed salt and did not have a lot of seasoning. The server was not very attentive nor was he very professional. My mom made a surprise to town and we decided to take her to try it. Cocktails: delicious 9/10. The missing point comes from the size of the glasses on some drinks fie what they charge. Appetizers: 10/10 Salmon and Focaccia bread. The salmon is raw. It does not specify on the menu so just a heads up, it is good though. The bread is BOMB! Little crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Paired with a balsamic glaze. * chefs kiss * Entrees: 10/10. Duck pasta, delicious. Mussels, delightful. The mussels are cooked well and has a moldy spicy broth with tons of garlic. Quite delicious. Comes with toasted bread which is exquisite to dip in the broth once the mussels are gone. Very tasty bite. Dessert 8/10. Personally not a fan of apples in desert but this one was quite tasty. The best part was the ice cream with olive oil. I know, sounds weird but it's the best kept secret. Don't knock it till you try it! The staff is on top of everything. As soon as your glass is empty, someone is over to refill. Crumbs on the table? Seven of us met for our quarterly "boy's dinner." We arrived separately for the most part, and ordered our drinks at the bar as we arrived. When we were told the table was ready, the bartender (Dillan is the name on the tab) handed me a bill. For all six of us (one of us doesn't drink). A bit forward to assume we didn't want separate checks, but whatever. But then I noticed they hit us with a 25% service charge BECAUSE WE HAD SIX DRINKS. Our tab for six drinks quickly cost $141.78 because they charged us as if we were a table (not one of us didn't sit at the bar - and no one asked for a single tab). Once we were moved to a back room, free of music (eerily quiet), and free of any art (the bare walls were commented on) we took our seats. All of the food was quite good, though the appetizers came out nearly :40 minutes before the entrees which was very odd as the place was nearly empty. We had to remind the server (Jordan is the name on this tab) we had been waiting so long, point out when we'd need another bottle of wine, and so on. But the kicker...the tab was ENORMOUS. Like, $175 per person when entrees ran $40-$70. It wasn't until I looked at the bill the next day that I figured out why. They had charged us for the same six drinks from the bar AGAIN on the dinner bill. And of course they then compounded ANOTHER 20% surcharge because there were seven of us at the table. Look, I don't mind paying 20% for a group of six or more, hell, it's easier to divvy up...but sneaking $140 onto the bill and then tipping yourselves on it? Bad juju. Will not return. Called and spoke with Evan (who had taken the initial reservation, seated us, etc) who claimed it was a temporary charge...but when one of the attendees owns a point of sale company...fibs are easily spotted on the group chat. Came to dinner with my grandmother a few days before Christmas, we were seated quickly, place was cute and quiet.. our server was.. odd. Immediately he was pushy with ordering. My grandma and I both usually just stick to our meals because she's not a big eater and I don't want to eat an appetizer alone. Well our server was sure to let us know "it will be a long time before we get to our main course.. 34 mins to be exact" ... ok duh? That's why we ordered our meals and wait.. A different server brought out a focaccia bread - which we did not order and the original server tried to tell us we HAD to pay for it because we let it touch our table. Absolutely not. I go out often, I know the edict, I also have worked in restaurant.. it gave off the impression he wanted us to spend more, to tip more. I get it, it was the holiday's but just no. Willow is a great place for a special occasion. I love the vibe of the restaurant. Even with the high ceilings and large windows it still manages to feel so cozy somehow. I also love how they paired very interesting colors together like purple and blue and green but it works. Its especially beautiful with the fading evening blue light of the outside contrasting with purple ceiling lights and warm yellow glow of the hanging fixtures. It gives a sort of etherial feel. The service was also top notch! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I think the food was all very cohesive and tasty but I didn't like everything just because of some of my preferences. The butterscotch budino was a real treat though! The caramel sauce was so creamy and luxurious. I also liked the way the pork melted in my mouth but I thought the fish was a bit overcooked. Brunch at the Willow was good but lacked a few things. My coffee was served warm. The prices were very high for a brunch $75 dollars including a tip. The food was good but special, some items on menu were not available - bad. We ordered a Duck Hash that lacked any Duck to make it really a "DUCK HASH", good fingerling potatoes and a fun salad. Initially it took quite a bit of time for our server to come and give us water, but after that the service was smooth and attentive. What an amazing experience! Asked my mom where should would like to celebrate her 60th birthday. She said Willow. I as I did my research this place was somewhere I would even like to go. I made reservations and reached out to the Manager, Evan, about bringing a cake out to the restaurant and he said that it's no problem. On the Day of the Reservation, we got in earlier than our reservation time but we decided to stay because they have an amazing Happy Hour that's done everyday from 3PM-6PM. As we entered, the restaurant was elegant and beautiful. We ordered the Olives come with an aioli, Prosciutto with figs, and Polplette (meatballs). Such a good variety food. With our drink, they are dangerous delicious by the way. We order the Sangria and Autumn Old Fashioned. Evan was able to seat us sooner and we were looking at menu. We ordered MORE appetizers because it was just so good! Prosciutto, again lol, Willow Bruschetta and the Sea Charcoal Potatoes. Everything was plated elegantly and tasted delicious! What intrigue me was the Sea Charcoal Potatoes is that potatoes are soaked in squid ink, which was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Paccheri, Duck Pasta. The pasta was handmade and so tender to a perfect al dente. Duck was tender and a great sauce to combine it all. My Friend Chris and I wanted to try Willows which allowed 1,000 Open table pts. The restaurant was Very comfortable for dining. Our wait staff was friendly and our waitress Gabbie knew the menu and made recommendations. Tonite we tried the Pesce Spada-Grilled Swordfish, Pampanella Ma Molisana-Grilled Pork Loin and the recommended bruschetta. Everything was tasty. Food: Pacherri ($30): This pasta dish was SO delicious. The pasta was a little bit more on the al dente side. I wish the serving size was a little bigger, but I would 100% get this again!! Pollo Arrosto ($31): There was a good amount of chicken in this entree. The flavor was good and the squash was tasty as well. Polpette ($15): The meatball and sourdough bread combo was yummy! The bread had a good amount of savoriness to it from the salt! Brussel Sprouts ($16): A classic appetizer! I like how they added in bits of mandarin into the dish. It was sweet, savory, and tangy. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, so last night, my husband and I went with some friends of ours. Immediately loved the ambience when we walked in, although the table that they sat us out the couch on the side where I was sitting was so low I had to sit on our coats like a booster seat to make it more comfortable. Our server came promptly and greeted us and asked for a drink orders. We ordered a couple of small plates and drinks which came out in a reasonable amount of time. The cocktails were fantastic! I ordered the light the beam my husband had an old-fashioned, and our friends had sangria. For dinner, we ordered two salads, two grilled swordfish, and two pasta dishes. The salads came out quickly, along with the pasta dishes. If I'm paying that much for dinner, I expect the timing to be a little better. I mentioned that we would like to finish our salads before our entrées started arriving and immediately the servers said they will re-cook it. It was as if they knew, the timing wasn't right, but they thought they try and see if it would work for us anyway. Let's start here: the food is excellent. If you want a fantastic experience here for food, this is a place where you can fully expect to have it. That is where it ends. We came here in March 2023 and were very excited to try the site out. They had rebranded, and they were working on a new menu. As a foodie by nature, I knew we had to try it out. The food was excellent. I was not drinking that night and asked for a mocktail, which they didn't have on the menu- that was disappointing because so many people don't drink any longer. Nevertheless, I was encouraged to let the bartender (not Nick) make a drink on my behalf- It was terrible. Honestly, I can't tell you what was in it or what it was because I also do not think the people making it even knew. It was foamy and, all in all, just not good, which was disappointing because it was also almost $20. I was moving on to the food, like I said, AMAZING. We had some of their Ficoccia bread, the salad with Buratta, the broccolini, and the steak. All of which, between us, came out to about $200+ in food. On the more expensive side, but worth it regarding good food in our book. I can talk about the food here forever, but that isn't why they got three stars. The three stars come from the rude staff. The host specifically was disappointing because that was the first person you came into contact with. She was the first person we saw and gathered our expectations about the restaurant. We came in with a weekday reservation, which was unnecessary because nobody wasn't anybody there. Nevertheless, we told her we had a reservation, and she sighed and rolled her eyes to go back to the desk/tablet and check. She confirmed, and it appeared that we were a bother to her because she wanted to hang out behind the bar/at the bar with her friends. She sat us, tossed the menu down, and said, "Somebody will be with you soon." Okay, that sounds good, but again, we were one of three tables. We saw her go back to the bar, and she was bothered by the table's existence, yet she continued working in the service industry. Between her and the garbage mocktail that we were given, three stars is what we are offering for this resto. We are always open to trying it again later, but I can only say that we will get drinks here if Nick is here, purely based on other reviews. read more

First timer checking out Willow Had a blast here, my experience was positive. For my first timers, they have happy hour for cocktails/beer and shareable plates. If you're having trouble deciding, I recommend the olives and meat board. You'll probably ask for more bread since it goes perfect with these plates. Service was amazing! Awesome job helping us store our cake for the birthday party Our server did a great job with recommending foods and drinks. For drinks don't pass on the old fashioned. Inside is such a vibe, it looks luxurious and would recommend for special occasions/celebrations. You'll have plenty of room for large parties as well. Parking is a little challenging if you don't go with valet which they offer next door. You can park at Macy's but they close the garage around 11pm. Super swanky hip place in downtown. Connected to a hotel, which makes going to the bathroom kinda awkward when the janitors are vacuuming the hallways. I had the Ms. Willow drink- which was really light and tasty. We also ordered a lovely bottle of champagne, which the staff popped and poured each glass for us. We ordered the prosciutto plate, the meatball (which could have used more sauce and parm on it in my opinion) and the gnocchi. The prosciutto could have used a fresh jam instead of the dried figs but the burratta was delicious and fresh tasting. We came here for dinner before heading over to the theater for a movie, which is a great option if you want to dine, have a drink, and just walk over. Our server was incredibly attentive, super kind, and offered great recommendations on wine. Here's what we ordered: - Mussels: a few of the mussels tasted slightly off, which I am now questioning our own decisions on ordering during a somewhat off season for shellfish. The broth, though, was light and delicious, and having toast to soak it all up was great. I wish they added two more slices of toast so we could've carbed out and had more of the broth! Lol - Paccheri: this has been our favorite, so we had to order it again. The first two times we had it (shortly after opening), the sauce was so flavorful, and the duck was so tender. This time, the sauce was slightly underwhelming but not close to bad at all. However, the duck was over cooked, dry, and not at all like the first time we tried this dish. - Buccatini alle vongole: ours was really under seasoned. In fact, it almost tasted like they completely forgot all of the seasonings. It was just what we thought was white wine and butter. We had to ask for some salt, which helped a bit, but it needed so much more than just that. Our drinks took a little while to get to us, even after our appetizer came out. However, our server came by to apologize for the delay due to a busy evening and a backup, which we really appreciated. Wish I remembered his name to give a shout-out. Overall, great atmosphere, but I fear the food is slowly starting to decline. We'll definitely come back again and hope the quality of the food improves and is what it was when they first opened. read more

Dined at Willow in June and really had a bad experience. The bruschetta we had was very good but the rest of the meals were just ok. We ordered a shrimp misto, which we knew would come with various tempura but for $18, it had two shrimp. 3 people in our parties ordered pasta and I ordered pork loin. The loin was very dry and I ate one piece of it and left the rest. The waiter asked if I wanted to take it home and I said "no, it wasn't good". Either the chef or the manager should have come over to express their concern and nothing. Sacramento has a lot of great food, but not here. I won't go back. We celebrated a birthday with Willow and have nothing but good things to say. We were greeted and seated to a window table, the ambiance was peaceful and unhurried. The server was attentive and professional. We started with a few cocktails and the prosciutto plate. We ordered the "duck pasta", paccheri and the New York steak as our main course. The appetizer was delicious. I really enjoyed having the paccheri. It was a well portioned dish. The sauce was rich and tasty, I enjoyed every bite. By far my favorite dish. The New York steak was good but could have been better. I don't mind paying for good food but not worth $72. The steak was fatty and too much sauce. I have been eager to experience Willow based on a social media story that highlighted the ambiance of the restaurant and their favorite item, Lemon Ricotta Pancake. To start, I had a tasteful Mocha. I opted for the French Toast and the Willow Breakfast. I enjoyed the moist French Toast and cream. The fingerling potatoes were good especially if you dipped them into their house ketchup. Having worked in the restaurant business, I know there is a lot that goes into perfecting the menu and service. So my review is based on my experience with a caveat. We came here for Christmas Eve. My parents were visiting from out of town and I wanted to take them to someplace special. Reservations were for 7:00, booked on Open Table. The manager called me earlier in the day to ask if we could move our reservation to 7:15. There was a show somewhere nearby that was throwing off the timing. I was happy to oblige. I don't want to stand around awkwardly waiting for our table. They offer valet parking. We ended up showing up early anyway and were happy to see a beautiful fully stocked bar. So we enjoyed a cocktail while waiting for our table (only 5 minutes). Bartender was super friendly and boy did she know how to make a drink. My husband said his lemon drop was the best he'd ever had. I wanted a wine so she made a recommendation and gave me a tasting pour. We were seated in a very comfortable table with big windows facing J street. Our server was friendly and we kept her busy with cocktails, appetizers and entrees. All was good. I had the duck pasta, which I loved. My parents wanted to split their chicken but that would have been a 45 minute wait, so they didn't bother. The ambience of this place is upscale and so beautiful inside. My parents were impressed. This is not a ripped jeans and shorts kind of place. But you could wear a sundress or khaki pants. There is no patio, so no outdoor dining. Overall, the consensus was that our experience felt very special and worthy of a Christmas Eve, justifying the price tag. read more
