A pleasant surprise, we were expecting another battered bathed chicken place ( hey we like it don't get me wrong) but we got a herbaceous lightly battered very crispy and moist chicken with decent fries. We really liked it, 3 piece combo with side is a decent serving. Marine drive location was easy to get to, ample parking. One of the things they did that I was so impressed with was give us our meal in the box without sealing the box. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with the right amount of salt. The customer service was great. They were offering samples. I found the store was too small. Seats were limited. Friendly staff! Staff here is very friendly, small menu like most fried chicken place with very minimal sitting and can improve with cleanliness (hence the 4 star). It will be a great take out to eat by the water if you are near, their macaroni is neat to try and chicken is juicy and flavorful but not superb. Their Ube cake is awesome, very rich, moist and full of flavor so I highly recommend it although it's most likely the last thing you would want to buy from a fried chicken store. I've had their chicken a few times and it's delicious. It is not that super crispy type, but it is tender and very flavourful. Some edge parts are super crispy, but if you're looking more for flavour vs crispiness, this is the chicken for you. Think KFC original recipe but yummier. read more

This is close to the Steveston area. OMG this fried chicken is so addicting. I know that I shouldn't have eaten 5 pcs. I told myself that I was only going to eat one piece, however, the devil on my shoulder was nagging me to eat 5 pcs. You can certainly lose track of goals with this. The batter was nice and crispy and spiced. The line up was long at the time, however, it moved very fast. They do offer napkins but knowing me I asked for extra. Bright spot in the middle of a rainy, dreary day in Steveston. As I stole pieces of my friend's order of fried chicken, people filtered in and out despite the weather, making take-out orders as we hung around and chatted with the (very friendly!) owners. (1.) Sometimes, fried chicken makes me feel gross. The grease and oil get to my sensitive stomach. This fried chicken did not give me that feeling. Although the chicken is moist and delicate (everything fell easily off the bone), the crust on the outside has a very 'dry' texture. The spice mix was very good, but I do not have the vocabulary to describe it with more precision. (2.) The mashed potatoes were soft and decent. Not straight salt, they had a garlicky flavour or something. (3.) We split one of the little rectangular ube cakes. Taro is the closest comparison I can make. The cake was sweet and mildly rich -- honestly, the flavour/texture were extremely balanced and not excessive. Some cakes are delicious but only good for a few bites. I could have eaten much more of this cake than I did and never gotten sick of it. We said our goodbyes and I said I'd be back to try the macaroni. It was still a rainy, dreary day, so we were back rather quickly. The four we had been talking to were happy to see us, and offered me the side for free. I said no but they insisted, so I caved. (4.) On my way back home I ate the macaroni. On one hand, it was nothing really exceptional -- pasta elbows in a nice sauce with bits of meat, bits of (tomato, maybe?), the sauce tomatoey and a little sweet. But I really enjoyed eating it, and it filled me up. I'm sure this place has busy days where you won't be able to receive the warm service I received when I came, but I'm sure the food will always be comforting and delicious! It's inevitable that you will make comparison to other fried chicken places in Richmond but I think this place is different enough to add to the beautiful tapestry of specially seasoned bird meat. I was walking in Steveston when I passed by this beautiful shop painted in all White. I soon realized this was already featured on an article I saw on daily hive. I decided to try their chicken and it was not a mistake! Their mashed potato tasted so fresh and creamy especially paired with their perfectly textured gravy. The chicken I had was savory with a flavorful and crispy coating. The chicken did not taste greasy and made me sick as usual fried chicken does. Every piece of meat was juicy and exploded with flavor. Last but not least, their Filipino style macaroni is to die for. I crave it constantly! the sweet sauce taste similar to Jollibee's. Everything about this joint is worth a drive for. As this place has opened for one month and already has blown up with reviews and made it on globeandmail and daily hive I highly suggest everybody try it before there is big line ups! Very good deal for a first time buyer. Greeted upon entering and asked what I wanted. Chicken is the only thing served here so don't think else wise. Chicken came out super quick. Honored the facebook coupon and total was about $5.25 after tax. The chicken was super moist and juicy. Did not feel heavy like most fried chicken places. Just the right amount of flavor and spice and not greasy like many fried chicken places. Great place if you are looking for a local fried chicken joint. I've been here a couple more times since my first visit and I'm kind of annoyed. The first time we had a lovely lady helping us and after that it seems to be kids running the till, which is fine, if they knew what they were doing. For both my follow up visits, I'm standing in line and after the people ahead of me are helped the cashier just didn't acknowledge me, I had to say "hi, I want to buy something" to get his attention and the second time the cashier was hella slow writing down something to pass to the back. She could have said, just a moment, I'll be right with you, so I'd feel like they still want my business. Anyway, after she passed her not back, she left! A guy showed up to help me but he didn't know how to put the coupons through so he asked someone from the back who also didn't know, so they pulled the girl back to the front. I ordered two, 3 piece meals, one with fries and one with the pasta, to which I used a coupon, and I also had a coupon for a free chicken drumstick. The people behind me in line got their food first and I was hangry so I asked the cashier what's up with that??? Apparently they called ahead to order - good idea, wish I had thought of that. I think I scared her a little because when my order was finally ready I double checked with her that she had everything including the free drumstick. She said it was all there and she added a free mashed potatoes for us. Ok cool. On our first visit the fries came in a separate box, this time they were jammed in with the three chicken drumsticks, therefore, less fries. They do however, now salt the fries. The mashed potatoes were decent but they've been sitting in the warmer so long that it formed a skin on top. I overheard they ran out of thighs, they're pretty popular I guess, so we only had drumsticks. I counted those drumsticks at least three times, my free drumstick was missing. I didn't bother going back because it was free and it just didn't matter anymore at this point. The cake fridge they have on the side finally has cake. There were two cakes, one large purple one that I assume is ube, and one cream coloured one. Slices weren't available and there weren't any samples either. It'd be really nice if there were. I was hoping this would become a regular place for me but it looks like they're still figuring things out. read more

After a few pieces of chicken I realized it tasted very similar in taste and texture to the fried chicken at Uncle Willy's buffet by Metrotown. It is not a bad thing at all by any means. I just don't understand the hype. Here's our experience: My girlfriend and I were very excited to come try this place after seeing the buzz that started around their customer appreciation day, and it even came recommended by some good friends of ours. When we walked in, there was a waft of grease in the place due to poor ventilation. Not a big deal! But noteworthy for people that don't like that feeling. We took a quick look at the beautifully decorated cakes on the right, before coming back to make our order. We went for the 3 piece meal with the Filipino Macaroni as our side, and also ordered some gravy to dip the chicken in. The cashier told us that there would be a wait because they didn't have any thighs at the moment, only drums. No worries! The wait ended up only being around 5 minutes (which was what the cashier told us it'd be) and after that, we grabbed our order to-go to find somewhere to sit down and enjoy. We found an extra piece of chicken in the box that the staff gifted, which was nice. Then we began the meal. The Macaroni was what we reached for first, and it was decent. It's basically macaroni with little bits of ground beef, some hot dog, and a sweet tomato sauce. It reminded me of the Jollibee spaghetti, but I definitely enjoyed the Jollibee spaghetti more simply because the sauce sticks to spaghetti more than Win Win's sauce stuck to the macaroni. I wouldn't crave this, but I definitely liked it. Then we reached for the chicken... I liked the seasoning in their batter. But that was about it. Their batter is a lot lighter than other fried chicken places. But it just didn't have a satisfying crunch to it. The chicken felt more baked to us than fried which resulted in a soft skin, but very chewy meat that was not coming off the bone (or other parts of meat) as easily as I hoped it would. My preference is a crispier skin with perfectly cooked, soft meat. In other words, the total opposite. Overall, I did enjoy the chicken due to the seasoning in the batter. But I didn't love it. The gravy on the other hand... I absolutely despised. I felt sad after, knowing that I spent the extra dollar on the blandest gravy I've ever had. Which is weird, because it was THICK! It didn't seem like it was watered down... Just very underseasoned. Or maybe made with too much flour. I don't know if this was just an off-day, but I just didn't enjoy of their food that day to recommend it. read more

One of the most flavourful, juiciest and crispiest fried chicken places around! I love the touch of Filipino -inspired sides in their menu. I have only been to their Steveston location but they definitely add to the 'local-shop/restaurant' aspect of the small neighbourhood. I work in the area and it's my favourite place to get lunch on my break. They're quick, service is friendly, and the taste of the food is competitive. The owner has greeted me a couple times and Maegan, the cashier, is a sweet person. People need to stop complaining about the size of their chicken pieces because in my opinion, the flavour and the fact that they're quality sourced chicken makes up for it. read more
