Mediocre wine. Requested that my membership be permanently canceled. They ignored my request and continued to charge me. After days of emailing back and forth and an hour long phone call I got half refunded and half in credits. Very unhappy with this 'solution'. I told them I do not want to use them to get wine, suggested I give the credits to a friend. I wouldn't give my worst enemy these WINC credits. Don't do it and especially don't purchase a gift card for Winc. You are unable to use a promo code in combination with a gift card, and once you apply the gift card to your account you cannot remove it or pay with any other option until the gift card is used up. You will also get countless emails with great promos rates (such as 45 percent off for Memorial Day), however they only apply to first time customers. There are much better wine clubs out there. read more

Hey Winc, I enjoyed the wine I received the two times I ordered from you - good but not spectacular - but the wine bottles are disappointingly dusty upon receipt and the delivery execution was a huge bust both times. If you're going to offer shipping notifications, it doesn't help to only get them when my wine is first being shipped, and then right after FedEx has come and gone without attempting to leave my package. If I have to wait over a week after the package has been shipped for FedEx to drop it off at a nearby grocery, and then I have to drive to the grocery to pick up my wine, I'll save money and a week of time by just cutting out the middleman, Winc, and buying wine at the grocery store. Better selection, too. FYI - what really drove the nail into your coffin is that there's no option to cancel membership on the website. As soon as I found this out, I was calling to cancel. This is obscene - a clear scam to keep people from cancelling membership when they have no reason to stay. What a disgusting, scummy way to do business. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews here before placing an order. I placed an order with Winc on 4/16/20 and immediately received an email saying my wine would be delayed 5 or so days due to COVID-19 - understandable. However, I reached out after the 5 day period (4/22) because my account said that the order was processing. I chatted with a Representative (because you cannot reach anyone on the phone) and they told me that my order was shipping on Friday 4/24/20. I asked for a refund because considering it had not yet shipped, they said they could not cancel because it was simply waiting on FedEx to pick up. They told me it would be a minimum of 5 more business days to receive log on this morning and still no shipment tracking #. DO NOT purchase wine from this company. It will take nearly a month 3 weeks to receive (and they will charge you right as you place the order - not once it shipped, like most merchants). Plus trying to speak to support is unreal. read more

I drink quite a bit of wine and this is a convenient, well-priced option. The customer service is fine and the wine ranges from decent to good. Perhaps they could enhance the wine quality for some bottles but for "every day" wine it's great and well priced especially if you live in NYC where the liquor stores are overpriced! I signed up for Winc (formerly Club W) when I met their CEO Xander at a tech industry event around 2012. We were seated next to each other at a lunch, and he sold me on a Netflix for Wine - I'd share my preferences and the wine would be matched to me. I signed up before the dessert course. I was so happy for my first box. The wines were okay - if I remember correctly, one was a standout, and the other two were just fine. But over time, the wines got better and better, and best of all - tailored to my tastes. However, I'd say that the quality level plateaued around 2015. They were fine for $13 bottles, and both having them delivered coupled with new things to try, made it totally worth the occasional bad bottle. Fast forward to 2017, and what is supposed to be a $13 / bottle subscription ends up being closer to $60, when substitutions (new) and shipping (formerly free) are included. At $20 / bottle, I get much better quality at the local market (and I bet most anyone living near a city would as well.) Plus, they've made their packaging so flimsy that the cardboard tears when carrying it even a short distance. For city dwellers taking transit, it's a no-go. All this is a solid 2-3 star experience, until I go to cancel my membership -- for a tech company supposedly upending the business, they make you call an 800 number in order to give you the hard sale about why you shouldn't leave. No cancel button on their site, no form to fill out, you have to take time to find an FAQ about canceling, then give them a call during their business hours. At the conference where I met Xander, a huge topic was how providing quality customer experiences served as a method of customer recruitment and retention. I wish that he'd paid closer attention - slowly ratcheting up recurring costs, plus making customers jump through hoops to perform routine transactions isn't quality. It's just extractive. Trying to make a purchase with Winc was really frustrating. Almost unbelievably, their phones lines have been down for many days (weeks?). That's right: when you call the Winc phone number, you get a message that their phones aren't working. At all. And it was worrying to try to purchase online because the design of their online purchase page makes it appear that you HAVE to sign up for monthly wine purchases of $60 per month. They assure you that you can cancel at any time but -- if you can't reach them by phone -- you can't call them to cancel. There is no way to cancel via their website. There ARE text options to reach Customer Support but they're not easy to use and it's not immediately clear if they're working. In my case, I sent a text and then simply switched to other tasks. About 20 minutes later, I got my first reply. "Summer" was excellent but clearly flooded with questions. Until Winc fixes its phone lines, I would recommend avoiding this company entirely. In any case, it's unwise to commit to an ongoing (monthly) delivery before you've received your FIRST delivery. You'll certainly want to test the quality of the wine and the reliability of the delivery before making any commitments. read more

I've been solicited to be in several wine clubs before, but I found them to be expensive and the wines were not my favorite. However, for some reason I thought Winc looked like it was different. And it is. It all begins with a very detailed survey of your tastes and preferences. Usually companies with surveys like this still never "get" you (like a couple of other types of monthly subscriptions I've had), but I was pleasantly surprised when Winc did. I've received three or four monthly subscription boxes (skipping a month here and there whenever I've felt like it), and I have really enjoyed each and every affordable bottle. How they manage to suit my narrow tastes with so many different wines, I'll never know. And I love the fact that I am supporting very small American wineries at the same time; it's the icing on the cake for me. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if these wines were also organic. [Edit: My mistake. They are not all, in fact, American wineries. I just noticed that I am just drinking a light, fruity wine from New Zealand. I love it! It's called Outer Sounds. It's a Sauvignon Blanc, but to me, it's very close to an early summer Riesling.] I'm pretty sure I'll always keep my Winc subscription. No contract. I can skip a month any time I want. FedEx shipping (which I like to have held at a nearby FedEx office or Walgreens for my convenience, since my schedule is never the same). And every bottle has been a true delight. Incredible wine selection. I wont lie to you, I'm not impressed by their basic $13 bottles - but to be fair, $13 bottles are rarely something worth remembering. they have good ones but, eh. BUT, for their bottles that are $30+ - INCREDIBLE, that's where the real winc value comes in: some of these bottles taste like $100 bottles. And what I love is how they have all their own label/brands, so you can get a feel of which ones have what qualities, etc. Im really blown away. Big Pinot Noir fan, but via winc I've tried a lot of crazy varietals I would never have tried otherwise or thought to buy (or knew existed) that were amazing. I've been a Winc member for a little over a year. Overall, a solid wine club for the average wine appreciator, probably not for the wine enthusiast. I recently upgraded to the Winc Select reds and those are solid but the 'regular' featured wines were non-descript. Customer service has been fantastic though. Very responsive and assisted with a missed shipment due to me being out of town for a family emergency. Overall I'd recommend someone try it if they're just getting into wine. read more

I've loved every wine I ordered from Winc. There is a good selection of interesting, beautiful wines to chose from. The average wine bottle costs between $15 and $25 which isn't terrible (although not necessarily bargain wine), but I would pay more for the quality at my average wine shop. The process of skipping a month is easy enough if you don't want a new box of wines every month. I enjoyed my subscription while I had it. I've had a subscription to Winc for about 2 years now, and have never had an issue. Recently, my shipment was damaged in transit, and one of the concierges contacted me before I was even aware there was any kind of issue. She also let me know that a new shipment was being shipped out immediately. Additionally, one of the bottles in my original shipment was out of stock by the time the new shipment was being sent out, so she replaced it w/one that was similar in taste profile to the original. I like Winc more than just for their Wine. I have been a member for couple of years already. Over this time the brand went through some rediscovery process, but from beginning they attracted me with small company size and personalized approach. I feel like I'm part of the club. I think larger clubs might have better international selection and more perks but they feel less of a club and more of a reseller. Winc feels more friendlier and personalized. One drawback - recently I noticed the selection of $13 bottles decreased slightly in favor of more expansive wine. There are still wines I enjoy that are in my price range but will have to keep an eye if it will get too expansive for me to continue. Otherwise I really love the small winery selection, personalized approach and good overviews. read more

If you don't buy a membership then you cannot order more than the gift card value, so it was not possible to use our full $100 amount as the wine didn't add up to the exact amount of $100. Loving WINC subscription during COVID-19 lock downs!!!

This was my first and only experience with Winc. Recently purchased a gift card. When purchasing gift cards online today most companies online usually prompt you with different options to send the gift card (email, print out, or a physical gift card shipped). However, WINC's website I guess is not equipped to handle that many options and my gift was automatically sent to the recipient. Mind you this was a Christmas present that I wanted to print out and include in a Christmas card. I reached out to WINC immediately (within 10 minutes of the gift being emailed to the recipient) I was told they could do nothing about it and that the order was final. I said, "But it's a Christmas present. How come there were no prompts for a print out?" Again, I was met with answers about they couldn't override a system and all gift card purchases were final. Even though the recipient did not redeem the gift card (and they know the redemption code was not used). Winc, thank you for ruining a Christmas present, and thank you for not helping in making this better. It wouldn't be Christmas without feeling robbed and abused. Nothing says you just want money like telling your customers "We're sorry, but we can't help". Needless to say this will be my only time using Winc. read more

It was the biggest hassle in the world to figure out how to just order the wine bottles without getting a subscription. I've been a member with Winc for a few months now. I enjoy my membership and trying new wines each month, and enjoy seeing what they recommend based on my ratings and past orders. I recently had an issue with my shipment/Fed Ex and Winc customer service stepped in and saved the day. While the issue was not their fault, they still took care of me and my lost package and within minutes I had a new shipment on the way. Great customer service is something more valuable than anything else a company can offer and Winc did not disappoint. Additionally, after dealing with customer service I was sent an email survey on the rep, and in that survey they asked how the rep should be rewarded and my options were coffee, lunch or a gift card. While I have no way of knowing what the rep will actually get, if anything, it's nice to see a company treat their employees for helping their customers. read more

SCAM!!! I bought my mother a Groupon offer for Winc. They filled that order and then continued to bill the shipping payment method for $60 a month without any other deliveries. Disputed with PayPal, but they will not refund the unauthorized charges even though I sent proof that multiple cancellation requests were made. I was able to get payments to stop, but WINC call line is unavailable and they have ignored multiple emails. $180 in fees charged and they didn't even ship anymore wine. read more

During Coronavirus lockdown, I was staying in a tiny desert town, whose only grocery store had shuttered its doors when the pandemic hit. The closest grocery store was a 30-minute drive across state lines, so there was no booze delivery. How was I to deal with the crisis of both a global pandemic and a dearth of alcohol? Enter Winc. They're great. The site is fun to use. The delivery via FedEx is efficient. I love reading about and choosing my wines, and most of what I've gotten has been very good. There have been a couple of duds, but that happens with all wine purchasing from time to time. This company is shady at best. First off, the wine is absolutely disgusting and I am not a picky wine drinker. But I had to dump most of the bottles out because they were absolutely undrinkable. I received multiple shipments and out of all the wines I tried, I would say I dumped all but two bottles and those two bottles weren't even enjoyable. Worse than that, when you try to cancel they make you jump through hoops like nothing I've ever seen before. You can't just log into your account and cancel. You must either call or live chat with customer service and explain why you want to cancel. Then they try to argue with you and offer you different shipping options, tasting options, etc. I literally had to ask the rep 3 times to cancel my account. STAY AWAY. Winc provides a very small amount of white wine selections. It seems like they have the same amount of 6 - 8 wines that they keep recommending. I also thought this wine club would auto-recommend wines based on ratings and past buying behavior. This never happened - I had to manually select wines, put them into my cart and approve them to be shipped. So my experience was far below what was promised in regard to intelligent recommendations and a broad selection of wine. Finally, they do not let you cancel your membership online. You have to call or open a chat session, where they try to convince you to stay. No need for this type of aggressive selling. read more

I joined WINC in 2012 and had a terrific experience for 10 years until I recently cancelled due to age/health issues. They have a wide selection to choose from and although they pick the wine to send you, based on your preferences, you can change the type and number of bottles prior to shipment. Prices are great and the free shipping is an added bonus. The pain is having to be home to sign for it when it arrives but that is a given for any type of alcohol shipment. read more
