Awful customer service and almost impossible to cancel! I put my month on hold and removed the wines from the cart but they shipped it anyways. They don't notify when orders are shipped and will fine you if you miss them. The wines are overpriced 80% of the wines we did not like at all. Extremely overpriced cheap wines! Similar to other reviewers, I too got stuck with trying to cancel but couldn't. They say they email you a couple days before sending the wine, but with around 15 emails a month going to to my Promotions tab in Gmail, there's no way I'm seeing the notification. When I called to cancel, they said they can cancel for me moving forward, but since this month already shipped out, I have to pay for it. So I grudgingly accepted. But I wasn't home when FedEx tried to deliver it, and I was out of town during the FedEx pick up dates. The package ended up going back to Winc. I called to see if I could get my money back, but they said there would be a $20 restocking fee. To avoid that, they could try to send it to me again. YAY now I can go through the entire cycle all over again. If you try this, just make sure to cancel right away or else you will be pulled into paying for something you don't want. read more

These wines are garbage at best. I canceled my subscription after my wines got shipped to Texas instead of Arizona. Winc then refunded my shipping cost $9. I asked that they please ship out a new box since it had been traveling in a hot truck for a week. They then charged me $9 dollars to ship out the replacement order. So after 2 weeks my wine finally arrives. The bottle sizes are all over the place. The wine is the worst I have ever tasted. Like vinegar in a glass. Low and behold 3 months later I get a charge from Winc for another load of crap wine. WTF !!! Do not use this service they are scammers selling garbage who will fraudulently charge your card. read more

This company is a literal scam. I tried to cancel my account in January and they REFUSED to refund me my money and instead told me to spend it on their wine otherwise I would've be getting my money back. Do I did. And guess what... it automatically reinstated my account! So they freaking charged me again this month and are REFUSING once again to give me my money back and are telling me it's my fault that I should have known it would restart my account once I bought more wine so this time I should buy more wine from them AGAIN and then cancel my account because it's jus IMPOSSIBLE to refund my money because they already turned it into credits. Forcing customers to buy from them to use their own f$&*ing money rather than being refunded my hard earned cash and then automatically reinstating their account for something they are forced to do in order to get anything for their money is RIDICULOUS! I really liked Winc a lot when I first got into it. I think the product is good and the bottles have interesting labels that are good to bring as gifts to a friend's house. I have recommended it to many of my friends through the referral link, which they have used, but I noticed that I never received any of the promised referral fees... I thought this was strange but I kept receiving the service because why not. However, I have been a subscriber for more than two years and I have been trying to cancel for about a year and a half. They make it absolutely impossible for you to cancel. I have subscribed to many monthly delivery services who simply have a "cancel subscription" button included in your profile or at least a "pause" button. I have so many times forgotten to "skip a month" and get a bill from winc and eventually four bottles of wine. I do not drink as much wine or alcohol in general as I did when I first subscribed and ALL I WANT IS TO CANCEL. I actually feel bad that I recommended this company to my friends because many of them have complained to me about how impossible it is to cancel. I am an extremely busy executive and don't have time to sit around on a call or on a chat trying to cancel a monthly wine club. I think this place is a scam, also the wines are overpriced for the quality you are getting. My suggestion to this company is that they stop these dishonest practices. I have over 20 bottles of unopened wine sitting on a shelf from them that I can't give away fast enough. read more

She was quick to help me out and to assure me I would have a credit on my next shipment .I've always been happy with the wine selections and the quality of shipping is usually quite good. I have discovered varietals and small (& larger) vineyards that I would never have known -- and I've enjoyed the adventure! For instance, I now know that I'm not a fan of wines from South Africa (just a personal preference), but do enjoy wines from Australia. Having lived in Europe, I was a little snobbish about California wines, but now also enjoy many of the varietals from that region, as well. I discovered a grape (Gamay) that I love and a vineyard (L'Atalier du Sud) that I had never heard of and also love now. The website is a little difficult to navigate sometimes, and I still (after two years) don't understand the "share" thing, otherwise I would have given Winc 5 stars. read more

I am in Austin, TX and I want to say that I have enjoyed getting Winc. It has been easy and efficient. At times I have not been home when the wine arrived and I have been able to direct it to the nearby Fedex office and pick it up there. We are able to get bottles of wine for what we would pay regularly from the store and we don't have to spend lots of time trying to decide which wine to get! We can postpone our delivery so that we don't get it every month if it is piling up (we don't go through 4 bottles a month). We can review the wines and it will keep track of the type we like so that in the future it sends more of what we enjoy. read more

While I obviously love my Winc subscription, the true star is their customer service. I asked a simple question, and days later they followed up with an update! I had not asked for an update, they tracked my order on their own and made sure that I got my wine before I left town. You got my attention with your concept, its a good idea. I am concern if it actually works. My wife and i have different pallates with food, fruits, coffee, etc. we both created our own pallates using different devices. Out answers were in opposite sides of the spectrum amd turns out we both were recommended with the same exact 4 wines. So i decided to do a 3rd profile selecting different answers that we both had selected and bam! Same 4 wines. So could only mean one thing...... i think you know :) read more

If you want some great wine delivered to your door every month without ever leaving home, you need to check out Winc. Prices are good and with new selections every month - or switch if you have something else you would prefer (not likely!) you can do that too. Or if you're expecting company, add some extra bottles. THINK AGAIN before so much as giving them your email address. Incredibly easy to sign up and get going, cancelling is a nightmare and only comes AFTER you get charged with a box you don't want and tried to cancel or pay $20 restocking fee and get no wine. It's pathetic how the only way they survive is begging celebrities to endorse them and gimmicks by giving people $20 off their first order. SAVE YOUR MONEY, and go buy a nice bottle or two elsewhere. Bizarre. It's disappointing to see decisions by this business (in its website) that turn off potential customers. Background info: I buy wine regularly, have checked out many "subscription" services over the decades, used a few of them, and also know many people in the wine trade. Some of the highly advertised subscription services or clubs are basically marketing outlets to move mediocre or bulk wines. They do so by promising the convenience of "expert selection" to subscribers who don't want the trouble of shopping for (or don't know much about) wines. Note added after posting: When I first wrote this (Jan. 5), this Yelp page showed a name "Club W," which was obsolete (per winc.com website; other Yelpers had already noted it). By the next day, the name was corrected. The BUSINESS CATEGORY still wrongly says "Winery" as of Jan. 11 (Winc is not a winemaking but a retailing firm); I submitted a correction. Winc.com looked, at first, potentially classier than the average wine-subscription hustle, when I saw it advertised in a mailed coupon packet. First (said the ad), you complete a "palate profile," then "see our recommendations that perfectly fit your palate." So I go to winc.com and it first asks how I heard of the firm. The many multiple-choice answer options don't include the right answer (mailed advertising). A small detail, but it doesn't build confidence that this business has its act together. Someone at Winc crafted the mailing, which directs people to the website, which doesn't know about the mailing. Then I complete the online palate-preferences questionnaire, which looked promising: it asked the same type of careful questions I've seen used to sort out taster types in modern scientific sensory evaluation. Now: May I see those promised, customized wine recommendations (and so get some idea of how Winc's recommendations work, what sorts of wines Winc sells, and pricing -- which I can then compare to the general market)? No. The website expects me first to subscribe, or at least furnish an email address. Um, people checking out a business like this will often want to FIRST get some idea what specific products it offers (and their prices), before making any commitment -- even the commitment of letting winc.com "harvest" an email address (which many firms exploit for unlimited junk mailings, whether you join or not). Winc's approach implies a certain cynical disrespect for customers' intelligence -- which in turn told me, as a wine consumer, enough about whether Winc was worth pursuing any further. read more

I only kept Winc for the initial 1st month deal but forgot to cancel. I was charged $60 for 2 months after that. Though I did not realize I was still being charged and forgot to cancel my subscription, I appreciate that Winc was able to refund me. I love Winc. My. favorite parts: they have reasonable priced wine for a subscription service, they have live chat function for any all questions, they have so many different subscription options (auto ship, no auto ship - just auto bill, how many whites vs reds you want, skip a month, etc.) It is so nice to get wines from all over the world and switch it up from the same wines over and over again with the limited grocery or drug store selections (but at the same price!) Pitfalls: I have noticed thus far is many of the wines sell out fast and do not get restocked. (Which can a bummer if you find one you love). I also wish they had more sparking/sweet options. Currently, if you sort by sweet wines, they have 0 available. read more

I think the palate questionnaire is sooo cool. I could easily spend $100 or more on wine from the grocery store but with my subscription I get 4 bottles for a lot less. I also feel like I'm getting great quality wine. Being able to pick the wines I want to try is awesome as well. I love reading about the wines as well. The food pairing suggestions are awesome. I am only giving 4 stars because I wish they had an app for Android. I also love that they work with sustainable wineries and the box is eco friendly. I love my subscription so far! read more

I had an issue with the delivery of my first Winc order and Joel from customer care was very responsive and helpful.

Really disappointed in this service. This company is blatantly deceiving consumers. Winc is touted as a service to help you find wines based on your palate. That is NOT the true at all. They simply give you the 3 most popular wines for your first purchase. This was confirmed by the associate that we chatted with. In fact, when you sign in you can't even take their palate quiz (which isn't even a real quiz because you get same results no matter what you input). I don't know how Winc getting away with lying to consumers but please don't waste your time, energy, or money on this basic unimpressive service. I bought this as a gift for Christmas and I wish I would have just went to Total Wine and asked the staff for recommendations. read more

The company used to be known as Club W and is now 3 years after canceling my subscription using my old contacts and sending them wine offers from me without my permission! These e-mails are using my old last name and some likely going to people I don't know anymore including my ex's friends. The most wildly unprofessional and inappropriate business practice I've seen in years! The wines were terrible. I've had better (and cheaper) wines from the grocery store. I tend to like sweet wines so months ago when I first tried to cancel my membership, they asked why and when I explained they never have sweet wines in stock so I'm constantly skipping wines, they lured me into staying by offering me a $50 credit. Fast forward a few months and sweet wines come back in stock. I used my credit and balance and asked again to cancel. They asked why and I told them the wines I've tried were awful - they asked which ones? I said all of them and the breaking point was me literally pouring the last one down the drain and having to dilute the ones before that with juice to try to salvage some kind of non-tart, non-dry flavor from them. So during the chat, made it clear several times - cancel the subscription. Even go into the app and cancel the next month since billing is coming up and get a confirmation I've skipped a month. A couple of days go by and I get an email about new credits being loaded onto my account. Now I'm primed and ready for the chat rep. She literally tells me she reviewed the chat where I asked several times to cancel but I never confirmed I wanted to cancel after being offered a credit? I told her "cancel means cancel!" If you need help understanding that, let me break it down to you: not only am I calling the credit card company and disputing the charge, since it was unauthorized, but I am blocked from further billing that card. What do you know? Minutes later got a cancellation confirmation and they even refunded the credits they charged so I didn't have to go thru a dispute process. read more

The wines were good for the price, and I had no problem with the products at all. I wouldn't recommend the subscription however. You can choose to skip months, but they don't send a notification until it's shipped. Unless you set your own alerts, it's very easy to miss. Unlike other wine subscriptions, they require you to call or livechat to cancel. Of course the person on their end's job is to keep you as a client, so this isn't a quick interaction. read more

Winc is a great place for true wine officianadoes to get their grape on (lol). My first shipment was a lovely red blend called Lost Poet, which I chose for all four of my initial bottles of wine in the new member special. It seems that the creator of this wine is in cahoots with Winc for Poet's creation and distribution, as I read about his journey to create it, and also could not find this wine anywhere else. I fell in love with Poet during a recent trip to see family. Their prices are reasonable, and delivery was seamless (someone 21 or over needs to sign for it, but I was available). The wine was very nicely packaged in a box that says, "Thirsty is no way to live". Clever, witty marketing if you ask me. If you want to join a wine club, give Winc a try. They have substantial first-time buyer deals, and are very reasonable after that. Salute! read more

Awful experience with trying to redeem a gift card. I did want the monthly subscription or shipments of wine. I wanted to just use the gift certificate one time and be done. The website is so cumbersome and difficult that it took over 45 minutes to place an order. Most of the wine I wanted to order was out of stock. Never again! read more

Just got a delivery today of two red wines and one white wine. Due to the fact that it's 100 degrees outside I opted to open up the white bottle of wine called "wonderful". If you have the budget (50+ per month), cool idea and good company! First month is a total deal too! I like how you can skip as many months as you need to easily. I had a month where I forgot to skip and the customer service girl Din fixed it for me lightning quick! So far, my wife has really enjoyed their wines. Received my initial order and regret the money spent on this parody of wine. Pinot noir is watery, light pink in color, terribly bitter. Airing it did not help. Went into the sink. Chardonnay equally deprived of flavor and aroma, but at least not bitter. Stil not drinkable. I wish there was an option to return the rest without even bothering to open the remaining four bottles. read more
