2 out of the 4 wines in my first shipment were disappointing at best: Summer Water Rose was thin, sour and one dimensional. The 2016 Rosa Obscura Red Blend bottle was skunky (perhaps the cork was bad). Two of the wines were quite good: 2016 Pas Ordinaire Red Blend - well balanced, tasty but not a lot of depth. 2017 Outer Sounds Sauvignon Blanc was pleasant - fruity and refreshing. But nothing about this experience convinced me to keep the membership. I can do better at my local wine shops for less money. read more

I don't see the real value in this service? I went into the relationship thinking they would train me in the art of wine. I filled out the profile to match my tastes and what I got was the exact opposite. A few things that I was disappointed in. Limited selection. Most of the bottles are re-bottled by Winc. You can see the small print at the bottom of the bottle. The profile questionnaire does not match my tastes. The shipments take days to receive. I've been told if the bottles sit in the heat for days it ruins the flavor. Which makes sense. read more

I got Winc as a gift for my husband for Christmas and he (we) loves it! It has been fun trying different wines each month. The customer service is wonderful. For example, 1) I forgot to update which wines we wanted one month, and they let me switch it before they shipped out, 2) we unfortunately had a bottle of wine that was rancid/rotten and they kindly credited us for that bottle. I had a great experience with Winc. They offer a rotating selection of gorgeous wines and the prices always seem to be lower than other online distributors. It's easy enough to swap out wines each month or skip entirely. What really sold me on this company though, is that they were entirely supportive when I wanted to cancel my subscription because I had quit drinking. Other subscription based companies usually make it an absolute nightmare to get out if, so I am extremely grateful for Winc making my life a bit easier. I ended up cancelling my membership with Winc after I realized how deceptive of a company they were. The wines were ok, par for any other order service out there. I might have enjoyed them more if not for their awful service. They market themselves to a younger, digital audience who is familiar with technology, and yet they make you call their support to resolve any ACTUAL issues like cancelling a membership. It's hard to imagine that this is an accident, as their website is fairly functional. All they're doing is making it more difficult for people to get out of a membership, instead of focusing on making their service better. This must be tough on their support reps too, which I imagine are fielding frustrated customers also trying to cancel their account through a cumbersome process. Awful company, just ok wines. Runnnnnnn! Too expensive for meh wine, not to mention they ignore your "flavor profile." Mine should be the opposite of sweet/fruit, yet I have not ONCE received an "earth/wood" style wine. I've emailed, online chatted, and all I get is referred to their "sommelier" (at my age I don't need someone telling me what I like) or being thanked for rating their wines, which supposedly helps you get the style of wine you like. I've rated every Riesling, Muscat, etc 1 star and just received another bottle of one of them! In my latest shipment I got one with a label saying it was "sugary sweet" -- do these people just want me to go ballistic? Customer service, zero stars. Ok listen guys. I agree with everyone else's reviews, but I'm going share my experiences, too. The "shipping options" listed on their website are not legal. You cannot have someone else sign for your package containing alcohol. If you aren't gone when they deliver it, forget about getting your package. You have to contact a representative to cancel. Many of the wines they sell are available for the same price or cheaper in stores, without the shipping hassle... Many wines aren't good and they won't give you the imaginary "credits" to try something else. read more

My only problem with Winc is missing the shipments, because they won't just leave the box you need to be there. I get all excited about them but i'm never home to receive them which causes stress and then i need to worry about being home for the next time they try... but i work so far away i'm not home between 6am and 7pm which is obviously the times they would come. And i won't plan my weekends around being home for the shipments especially in the summer. That's my biggest complaint. I think Winc is so innovative! I've never heard of a wine subscription box before they came along. I like that you can skip as many months in a row (I think I skipped like a year in a row before I actually committed to buying a box LOL). You can also switch out the wines if you don't like what they picked for you. They have a nice selection- the packaging is really modern. I do wish they added MORE bottles to their stock though, whether more bottles of the wines they already have (some of the ones I want to buy are out of stock often) or just more different types of wine. Their customer service is also great! I had to contact them once last year about canceling an order I already placed and they were really helpful. I contacted them again yesterday just asking if the box comes with an itemized receipt (I was buying a box for a friend and I didn't want anything like that in there) and Marie was relatively quick to respond, went above and beyond in her answer, and was super sweet. Only took off a star because their wines are often out of stock and I find the variety to be pretty short, but that's seriously my only "complaint" (more of constructive criticism I guess). read more

Received my first shipment after contacting FedEx multiple times to ensure delivery while I was home to sign. Opened the shipment to find bottles covered in layers of dust. Labels look pretty old. Wouldn't gift any of them. First glass of white was a watered down tasteless disappointment. Didn't continue drinking that bottle. Next try was a glass of red... even worse. I couldn't drink it. I first tried Winc when a friend gave me a voucher for $36 dollars to try them out. I'm really unfamiliar with wine in general (I mix it with 7-UP to make wine coolers), but I thought what the heck, if anything I'll only have to pay shipping. Indeed I only paid ~$10 for the shipment of three bottles. The biggest thing I'm not a fan of is having to have someone sign for the deliveries since it's alcohol. I know this isn't a unique problem to Winc but in general having to sign for anything at home is less than desirable. I luckily had my parents staying with me so one of them signed. The box the wine comes in is really great, looks very professional and it is a nice treat to open and see wines you haven't heard of before. That moment was probably the best part about the entire experience, although that again is not unique to Winc with the many subscription box services that abound these days. It was great having wine on hand to take to a dinner party, although I did choose the one I was least likely to enjoy, so I don't know if that says more about me or the fact that one of the wines I chose to have delivered was that unappealing. I do believe the service model of having wine every quarter instead of monthly is a better choice than a monthly subscription. Also, way too many emails. When I spoke with a customer service rep to cancel my trial because I only intended on ordering the one time with my voucher, he recommended I just pause my orders which I went ahead and did. Winc does have a nice system where you get asked to rate your interaction with the customer service representative and it shows you a picture of them and what kind of bonus you would give them (coffee, lunch, or gift card) and it promises to give them what you choose. I love that idea and was really great to 'give' to the rep I chatted online a gift card. read more

Been a member for a few months now and I'm really not feeling the subscription situation. I'm annoyed that I cannot cancel online and I have to "call in or live chat". I have a job between 9 and 5pm like most people do so I don't have time to stop my work day to call and cancel between those hours. Then, you have to have someone over the age of 21 sign for your package, which took forever for me to get before they sent back to Winc and charged me a $20 restocking fee. The wines were "okay". In a box of 10 chosen wines, I liked maybe 4 of them. The rest I couldn't care to drink again. I'm trying to cancel and this system is just being irritating now. I wouldn't recommend. Buyer Beware! Have been with them for a couple years and was happy until I had to have an exchange with their customer service. I was shipped the wrong priced wine due to their error not mine and their response was that I should have been checking my emails for order confirmation. They offered no solution and even said that if I refuse the order they will only refund me in credits to their website and not actually refund my money. They don't make cancelling as easy as clicking a button either. Get ready to hunt to find the process then beg over and over for them to actually cancel. Don't know who their competition is, but if they don't have a way to leave reviews anywhere online there is the first RED FLAG!
