I spent 70+ dollars here on New Year's Eve. I know it's the biggest night of the year that's one of the reason why there is two stars. The miso soup was average. I got there pupu platter for one. I had one normal chicken finger and like 5 super small ones, about 1-1.5 inches bigs. That definitely threw me off. Ribs were average so were the eggs rolls. I ordered there pork Lo mein which was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like fish. Maybe too much fish sauce? I don't know but I ended up throwing it out. My boyfriend got a spicy salmon roll which he said was ok for it being takeout. And there chicken hibachi. The rice in the hibachi was actually decent. We went here last Saturday. The host who greeted us was very friendly and seated us promptly. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the very comfortable seating. Honestly, the pics on Yelp of the seating were what steered us towards this restaurant over other restaurants in the first place. Even though it's a 20 minutes drive from our house, we originally tried this restaurant due to the variety of food offered: Chinese, Japanese and Thai. Although we felt it was pricey, the food and service was good and we could easily find something for everyone in our family. The next time I went for lunch with friends and asked to substitute broccoli for peppers. The waitress said no problem but when the bill came, I was charged $1.50 extra. I asked why and was told it's their policy that any change constitutes an additional fee. My husband and I went again last night for dinner. When my chicken with cashews came, I noticed it was loaded with peppers and celery, both of which I don't eat so I picked them out. When I was done eating what was left, the owner came over to see how everything was so I showed him the pile of peppers and celery. I asked why I couldn't substitute them with another vegetable and he said each dish is made a specific way so any changes require an extra charge because it effects production. I told him I've never had a restaurant charge for an equivalent vegetable replacement and he said this is the way they operate but would be happy to eliminate those ingredients in the future at no extra charge. I was confused and asked if there would be a price decrease since I'd be getting less food and he said no and repeated himself saying but there's no extra fee to eliminate ingredients. Was I supposed to think that's a great option? I also asked why I was charged an upcharge of $1.50 for wonton soup instead of miso soup when there's only a .70 cent difference on the menu. He didn't have an answer. Lastly, most meals come with white or brown rice and they won't allow you to pay an upcharge for fried rice, you have to buy a full order for $10.95. I told him very nicely that he could run his restaurant however he wants but getting less food for the same price makes no sense and all his upcharges makes it too expensive for us to eat there in the future. He said that's fine, and wished us a Happy Thanksgiving. read more

New wall finishes, new floor, a spiffy sushi bar, new furniture... the place glistens and sparkles everywhere, including the menu. What a great menu ! It may have been one of the best lunch menus I've ever seen. They have 12 traditional Chinese combination plates (think General Tso, Kung Pao, Sweet and Sour, etc.) with your choice of chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, scallops, tofu, or vegetarian priced between $6.50 and $10. They have ten different Thai lunches (curries, noodles, basil sauce, peanut sauce) with your choice of chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, scallops, tofu, or vegetarian priced between $7 and $11. Want more choices? How about sushi plates and platters ($12-$16 with soup or salad) or any of 23 rolls, priced at 2 for $9 or 3 for $12.50. Still can't decide? Well, more choices include more combination plates with things like shu mai, boneless ribs, teriyaki beef, dumplings, shrimp or chicken fingers. And finally, there are nine "Windsor Boxes", their take on the Bento Box. At $11.50, these are a steal- a gorgeous assortment of soup, salad, California roll, shu mai, rice and chicken, shrimp, steak or tofu prepared as tempura style, Tso or Pao, with broccoli or with sauces. Seated promptly, the waitress was very knowledgeable as the menu is large with many specialty items. The food arrive quickly once the order was placed; all dishes were presented beautifully. Tom Yum soup was very good, well above average, the Rainbow Roll was delightful, very fresh. The Hong Kong Wonton Noodle Pork Soup was somewhat of a disappointment, the noodles were perfectly cooked, the wontons were excellent but the broth was lackluster. Don't know if it was an off day but I would not order it again. The sushi was the shining star, so I'll be back to try somemore sushi items. read more

First time visiting the resturant. Very nice inside and the person who was either a manager or owner was very attentive in facilitating our seating. We had Sushi for two and found it to be very good. Our waitress was not so attentive and perhaps gave up on us when we did not order a few suggestions she had. She never asked us how everything was during our meal. Coming from LA I feel this is on a pricy side. However, the ambience is nice and it has an overall quality for the bucks. We order sashimi deluxe and house special fried rice to share. sashimi is 18 piece house cut. I felt the fish is super fresh and the presentation is nice. There is even a little light bulb in the fake ice cube used in presentation. I am not a sucker for this kind but I think it is a nice touch. House fried rice is nice, but for me it is a tad salty and oily from soy sauce. What bothers me are the service. I felt the wait time is a bit long. Both dishes were served at once when sashimi supposed to serve first. Who eats fried rice with sashimi? No big deal there. However We were also forgotten to serve miso soup that comes with sashimi. When mentioned at the end the waitress pivoted and said that it is not brought over because we share and it is us who suppose to mention if we want it. It was rude - instead of admitting your mistake and your timely service you turned and makes it sound like it is a customers fault. We didn't say a thing. It just left a bad afterthoughts. read more

From the food, which is so fresh and absolutely delicious to the portions which are pretty big especially if you order the Windsor box and the decor, completely stunning. We had an assortment of sushi, bento type boxes that come with two different proteins, soup and salads; the only thing missing was dessert but that was only because we were stuffed. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We can't stop gushing about our meal and service. This restaurant will be added to my list of must visit places while in Connecticut. Was around the corner on Day Hill Rd at a client and figured I would try it out. Yes, a bit on the pricier side, but well worth it!! The gyoza steamed was perfect and not over cooked or mushy. Had 2 pieces of peppered tuna sushi that had great display and was not overpowering the actual tuna flavor. Ordered the Fantastic 4 roll and everything including tuna was fresh and delicious! Not over taken with too much tobiko or eel sauce. The pieces weren't very large; much like a standard roll than a specialty roll, but NO complaints. Then, as I was wrapping up, the itamae (sushi chef) gave me an amuse-bouche (house specialty app). It was a beautifully plated seared tuna over roasted asparagus. But it wasn't to my taste. Tom Yum - has more of a gelatin rather than broth consistency. Salad - peanut sauce wasn't very peanut-y - vegetables were vegetables. Avocado rolls were ok. General Tso - not spicy, ketchup consistency Cashew chicken - tasted fine, cashews were not crunchy. Service was very friendly and efficient, and the ambience was nice. It's not horrible food, but I guess I expected a lot more at $22 for lunch. With that in mind, I just don't see the 4.5 star rating. read more

A great find! We loved the atmosphere, service and food at Windsor Asian Bistro. There were so many great options for vegetarian/vegan fare as well. I loved being able to choose between and/or combine the dishes of many different cultures. I landed on the Tofu and Red Curry which was spectacular! I get this dish often at various Thai restaurants, and I must say this one was a level above. I can't say enough about the drink list as well; my wife got Pomegranate Mojito that was out of this world, while the flavored Saki Flight was a great way to showcase some of the best, from the vast selection.
