Came here with a group while on a trip to Wichita. Everything we had was great and many of their menu items are very unique. We started with the hummus plate and coconut shrimp, both great for sharing. For entrees, most of us decided on the lobster mac n cheese. Highly recommend! First and foremost, they have a very nice wine list with an extensive list of by the glass option. However, I have now eaten at Wine Dive twice. The first time was pretty average and we decided to return and give it another shot. Well, that will be the last shot. The service was pretty much awful the second time. We received water, but no one else came by the table for over fifteen minutes. Then we ordered wine, that took another twelve minutes. Okay, twelve minutes is not FOREVER. But it is forever, when you've already sat their for fifteen minutes before ordering a beverage. The food was marginal, at best. I would not even finish my crab cakes. Our son did not finish his pasta and my husband's duck was just okay--chewy without much flavor. The appetizer frites were the best part of the meal. The drunken bread was dry and quite boring. The food and service were not what we expected from a place that holds many Wine Spectator awards. Great for wine... not so much for food. read more

Unfortunately the food, ambience and service were just disappointing and subpar. I had the fish tacos and I could taste the fake butter product used to cook the fish in. The tortillas fell apart and I had to eat it with a fork. The fries were old fashioned battered kind that doesn't match a more upscale attempt. We commented to the server and she didn't care or follow up. My husband's chicken picatta was better; main issue was small portion for the price ($18). There was a large staff on even though it was a slow Friday night, and it was awkward how they seemed more interested in socializing than servicing. Dined here while on business, so I sat at the bar. Wines by the glass were pretty interesting...nice selection...a few that you might find at a chain-restaurant but only a few. I would have love to dine here with someone else because their bottle list was very impressive and had something at every price. Mike you have a wine bar! While I just had a sandwich the menu look good all around. Mike your dive might be too dive-ish at the bar. Just at the bar area...there is a high pitched whine from the kitchen's ventilation that is quite loud. It might not be noticeable during a busy night, but on a quiet Monday...20 minutes put me on edge. There was also a strong soap order...I know I have a sensitive nose...but when you are trying to enjoy a subtle Willamette Valley Pinot it too can be distracting. I'm was excited this place opened up. The wine list is good, the staff friendly, and the wild boar ragu was my absolute favorite till recently when they kept serving it cold in the middle. This is a place with both ambiance and food; from the guitar-shaped sinks in the bathroom to the angled bar with shelves full of wine, it's a nice place to go for a dinner, and the food is both delicious and plentiful... perhaps a little too plentiful. There are some good options for vegetarians -- hummus appetizer is delicious, vegetable enchiladas are great, spicy but not too spicy, and the brie and mushroom soup they had on when we were there was fantastic. The desserts are OK -- the creme brûlée wasn't quite set right, and the chocolate "sack" is inedible because the chocolate is so thick, but it's some of the best vanilla bean ice cream I have had in a very long time (perhaps ever). I grew up in the Suburbs of Wichita, Ks. For my Sister's Birthday dinner, I was put in charge of selecting the restaurant. The guest list was to include Me, my three siblings and all of our spouses. One of my siblings also brought their 8 year old daughter. Before choosing, I questioned my siblings and asked if anyone was aware of a locally owned restaurant that was not a chain, had good food and a good reputation. No one had a suggestion. I searched through Yelp and read lots of reviews and discovered the Wine Dive. None of my Siblings had been there and the reviews were mostly positive, so the venue was chosen. These are my thoughts, after our outing. 1) (A+)I loved that they take reservations. I called and spoke with a staff member who gave me different options, to fit our needs. We chose a 5pm reservation because it was a Saturday night and we knew that later would be very busy. Our reservation was confirmed personally, with a phone call.( my Dr doesn't even do that, anymore. 2) (B-)The area we initially reserved, was no longer a good option due to the additional guest. During the confirmation call, we decided to change to a group of tables instead of the initial large booth. Unfortunately, this was not noted so the tables had to be set up after our arrival; but it didn't take long. 3)(A+)Our server was awesome! She was attentive, was very familiar with the menu and wine list, was able to answer questions and make recommendations as if it were second nature to her and she anticipated refills and pre-bussed the table with perfect timing. 4(B-) We had mixed feelings about the food. The speed of delivery was great, the presentation was beautiful, the seasoning for steaks and veggies was great, the garlic mashed potatoes were Devine and the Humus(appetizer) was wonderful. Unfortunately, the green beans were beautiful and spiced awesome but they were undercooked, in my opinion. I love steamed vegetables with some firmness but, these were crunchy(salad like crunchy) and cold. Three people on my side of the table ordered steaks, two cowboy cut and one 6oz filet. All were ordered medium well. The two cowboy cut were well done(no pink at all) and the filet was medium rare.( red but not dripping blood) the flavors were great but I almost couldn't stomach the rare filet.( I don't like steak that rare) I didn't send it back because I wanted to eat with the group but I did let the server know and she gave me a certificate for a free appetizer for a future visit. 5)$(C+)The prices were very high for the entrees;especially the steaks. The Cowboy cut, depending on add ons were upper 40s to lower50s. My 6oz filet meal was $31. The steak meals came with about 3/4cup of garlic mashed potatoes and a small order of steamed vegetables. No bread and no salad. I paid for four adult meals and our bill was over $200. We did have cocktails but one of the four meals was a sandwich and fries which was only $10. The steak dinners were higher than prime rib dinner at the Scotch and Sirloin with much less food. Perusing the menu, the lunch selections, sandwiches and such were more in line with other restaurants in the area. 6)AThe wine and beer list is vast and impressive. I had the rose sangria which was yummy. The cost was on the higher side of average. CONCLUSION I would go back. I liked the location and the ambiance. I loved the Sangria. I will qualify that a return visit would likely be for lunch or a light dinner of sandwiches or such. -V from Kansas read more

This restaurant always has good food, good service, good atmosphere. The wait staff are very good and the menu is very imaginative and diverse. Overall, I rate this restaurant as a fun place for all. My only gripe, are the poor wine pours. For a restaurant that specializes in a wide variety of wines, they consistently "short" the wine glass pour compared to other restaurants. It's downright stingy. So, if your coming for the food, service and atmosphere you'll not be disappointed. But if your appeal is the wine, (hence "Wine Dive"), 2 glasses of wine is equivalent to 1 for most of the competition and therefore, twice the price. read more

This is my first time to Wichita as well as this restaurant. I was in a group of 7 and to say the service was stellar would be a lie. Not only did the waitress (Madelyn) basically ignore us but not once did she ask if we needed anything, including refills of our drinks. Everyone in the group was kind, considerate and understanding but Madelyn didn't feel this way and informed the manager we treated her badly. When a member of our group attempted to report this waitress, we were told by the manager that because of our supposedly bad behavior, our complaints would not be heard or taken seriously. The manager also used the excuse that they were very busy but the place was virtually empty with only 3 tables in use. We nor any of our friends or family will ever visit this restaurant again. read more
