We hand a bit of a wait, but that was to be expected since it was a nice (but very hot) day out. The patio was busy but not packed. The hostess was aware that we had a large dog, but still placed us in a very odd spot on the patio - with high rise tables squished together. We also had a decent amount of sun, so we couldn't stay long as it was just too hot and we didn't have a lot of space. They did also seat an elderly woman at the high top table behind us, who came in with a walker. I found that odd too - to make her try ti climb up in the chairs. Thankfully we were there to help her. Service was ok. Our waitress visited our table a few times at first but then disappeared for a long time before we could get another drink or eventually our check. Aside from the seating and most of the service, our visit was fine. Food was good. My drink was very strong but still fine. It was definitely a different experience than i remember from the past, so I was a tad disappointed. I should have asked to be moved, but we had waited so long already, I didn't want to wait more.

There was live music on the patio and a great crowd, which gave the whole place such a lively, fun atmosphere. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the night. We ordered a margarita and a glass of Prosecco, and both came out pretty quickly. Our food followed shortly after and everything arrived hot and fresh! The sausage and peppers pasta was fresh and absolutely delicious. The pork steak was MASSIVE, bone-in, and incredibly tender--it literally broke in half when I picked it up to box the leftovers! The cornbread that came with it was moist and savory rather than overly sweet, which I really enjoyed. We also tried the garlic shrimp appetizer. The shrimp themselves were clearly good quality and cooked perfectly, but the sauce was a little underwhelming and could have used more flavor. It definitely wasn't a complete miss, though, because the shrimp weren't overcooked and still had a great flavor on their own. Between the lively atmosphere, great service, quick food, and generous portions, we had a really enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back!

A one of a kind dive bar that is great for Blues games. Originally a filling station in 1904, it converted into a tavern in the 1930's. Grandfathered with local liquor licensing, TGI almost went extinct in 2010 when longtime owner Frank Rodman passed away (RIP). In 2012 it was purchased by former Blues hockey player Jim Campbell and his wife, Jennifer (a Kirkwood native), who did a thorough refresh and renovation. Jennifer's great uncle actually owned the tavern earlier in the 1960s, so it was a natural return to the family. They have a full bar with reasonably priced drinks. Didn't see a food menu (need to confirm cause looks like maybe they used to) but bar snacks (pretzels and chips). Someone ordered pizza delivered which seemed like a good option. The vibe is like you are inside a house, with couches and a fireplace. They have a small back patio to enjoy nice weather and they do allow smoking outside. For games, there's Golden Tee, a jukebox, and steel tip dart board (which was kinda blocked by Golden Tee). If you happen to be in Kirkwood and feeling thirsty, check it out. I'll definitely be back to watch more Blues Hockey!

I got an order of their "world famous chicken strips" and was pleased to see that they do it with grilled. Hooray! And with the Syberg's Famous Wing Sauce, they were absolutely delicious and there was nothing left when my friends arrived oops. It's an Irish themed restaurant, so I did Guinness (which was very good) and the corned beef with cabbage (and extra cabbage instead of potatoes). My friends enjoyed their fried chicken salad and pizza. And the pizza looked tremendous. We were here for nearly two hours, well cared for by our waiter who cut the check up properly, ensured that dirty dishes were removed and refilled iced tea as needed. Great service! Fabulous food, too. This was a delicious meal and we all had a great evening. Five stars for Helen Fitzgeralds! [Review 1088 of 2026 - 582 in Missouri - 26267 overall]

There is also a private room if you prefer to reserve it at an additional charge. However, they allow you to come in with big groups and take over tables for your own parties in the main bar area. It's very economical to just order several appetizers and they sent them out on an unused bar area for us and then everyone pays their own bar tab. The onion rings and toasted ravioli are fabulous and I love their sweet marinara sauce. For lunch, my favorite is the buffalo chicken salad.

This particular day I came with my mom and we sat in the back room, where they gave their biggest tv. It was football Sunday, so it's a good spot to post up and watch. The manager ended up having to take our order because they were short staffed. We appreciated her transparency for the wait, she was super kind. I ordered a deluxe pizza and my mom ordered the wings. The pizza is good, stl style. The crust is basic but the toppings were good and plentiful! PJs is a Kirkwood hangout and has been around as long as I can remember. Good place to go for a tavern experience, and we are all Kirkwood people so we went there for that reason. Our server was very attentive. Some folks ordered lunch which looked pretty good. The dinner salads were huge... easily enough for 2! The potatoes skins were tasty (I broke down and had one though I wasn't hungry (we met at 2 and I had a late large breakfast) but the sandwiches looked good. Probably a good bar food place (burgers, etc) but definately a good watering hole! Located in old downtown Kirkwood by the train station. They also have a nice patio and outdoor sidewalk seating. Good place to hang out!
