We are regular customers from a local business and ordered delivery via door dash. Our order was canceled, as the menu is now limited. Instead of calling or texting to offer alternatives, Wings Over canceled our order without notifying us. When we placed the order, it was well before closing. We called and were told the one item (out of ten) that caused our order to be canceled. We then went immediately to place the order without said item and the person we had just hung up the phone with, telling us to place another order, and they were no longer accepting orders. As someone who loves fried chicken, the opening of Wings Over Boston seemed like a Godsend. Their chicken is indeed quite good. They have a ton a different flavors available so it might take you a while to figure out your favorites. The non-chicken stuff is pretty standard but does the job. However, I must say having been here many times over a several year period, the service has been uniformly and absolutely appalling. Honestly, I'm quite forgiving when it comes to service, especially at a fast casual joint like this. The first few times I shook it off as a bad day or whatever. But consistently and unfailingly, with every visit (takeout, never delivery) I've managed to get ticked off at the staff for some reason. The order is slightly wrong. They forget your order and you have to remind them. They're hard to communicate with, despite being American. Their body language or attitude is rude and unwelcoming. Its always something. Despite the food being fine, I can't give Wings over Boston a good rating due to their uniquely abysmal service, which is the worst I've ever experienced. Not a fan. I ordered through a delivery app. The fries we got were actually inedible...dry, and I couldn't bring myself to eat even one. They tasted odd. I've eaten a bunch of different tasting fries in my life but these were definitely the worst. I ordered their boneless wings...I could not help but think that they were old/not fresh. Legitimately tasted like they had found some leftover chicken from the 80s and were like "hey let's slather this in sauce and sell it to customers". I ordered a DC-10 with garlic parm and plain chicken tenders and the seasoning was barely on the garlic parm that they tasted just like the plain ones. Ordered late at night (~12am) and my order finished pretty quick and everything was correct. Got the F16 and the amount of wings were plentiful. The size of these wings were pretty decent as well. Nice and juicy, meat was not too dry. I got the Honey BBQ, Mango Habenaro, and Hot Garlic. Mango Habenoro was delicious. Hot Garlic was a bit too tangy imo, wasn't a fan of that. Picked up lunch for the office at this place. A few pointers: The onion rings are down right delicious. If you are ordering any type of wings here you can not miss this. The deboned wings are much easier to handle with a crowd. Less mess and less trash to throw out. All flavors are very good. Don't be afraid to go spicy be adventurous and try a flavor you wouldn't normally. Busy at lunch sometimes for pick up so go a little earlier (11:30) or a little later 1:30 to avoid crowds of students on lunch break. read more

The wings here are phenomenal. It is a bit pricey ... just a tad, but it is definitely worth whatever extra you have to pay. My freshman year of college my friend introduced me to this place, telling me not to be thrown off by the appearance and that the wings are "oh so good". The first time I came here my friend and I ordered in the restaurant, laughed and talked and our food didn't seem to take long to arrive. However, in my most recent experiences, I tend to order my food over the phone so that I can pick it up right away in the restaurant and leave. My concern, like a lot of people's is the customer service aspect of this place. Honestly, if the customer service were better, I would give this place like 4.5 stars, but not 5 only because the seating area could be better. I'll give a couple examples of my issues with customer service. This past Saturday my mother ordered her, my father, and myself our own separate plate of wings. She calls Wings Over to order the food so that we can just grab it and go when we get there. Not only did she wait on the phone 10+ minutes before someone picked up, but when the girl answered the phone it was so difficult for her to follow what my mom was saying it seemed as though the girl was high. My mom has no accent, and she was very clear that she wanted 3 plates, 2 garlic parmesan flavored, and one Cajun blackened - simple. Furthermore, the girl asked my mom if she wanted pick up or delivery, my mom clearly said pick up but the girl asked my mother for her phone number and address and my mom had to correct her, then my mom had to give the girl her name because the girl never asked for that. This is only one example. Another example was when a crowd of college guys were hovered around the cashier counter blocking my parents and I from picking up our wings. The guys hadn't even started ordering and had no idea what they wanted. Instead of taking my parents and I, the cashier takes this as an opportunity for a break and decides to start texting on her phone. A last example was when I went with my friend and as he was ordering he couldn't decide if he wanted water or Sprite to drink. The cashier got so impatient with him and yelled "one or the other or both pick something!" It wasn't even crowded so I don't know what the rush and ignorance was for. Thankfully my friend brushed it off. At the same time, there have been 1 or 2 satisfactory cashiers I've encountered while coming here so I hope this doesn't deter you. My biggest advice for you is to just have patience when dealing with these people because I don't know what the problem is, but the wings will be worth it when you eat them. read more

I would really love to give you a review based on their food. I really would. However, I can only review their service...or lack thereof. I placed my order online at 11:30pm at night. I was given a delivery time of between 12:15 and 12:30am. 12:30 came and went. I called the restaurant and they acknowledged receiving the order, but when the lady went to look it up she said that she "forgot to hit the button to place the order." I make a dash for the door, sprint down two flights, and if you could see the smile on my face when I met the man who would present me with my platter of excellence, the smile was ear to ear. I went to school in Amherst and of course is a sucker for the Wings over... empire. About a month ago I convinced my co-workers to order with me and highly recommended the brand. We called in an order around 12 noon and was told it would be about 40 minutes. We waited an hour and a half and nothing showed up. When we called to check up on it, we were told that the food was on its way. We waited another hour and it still didn't show. We called back again and was told that they had missed our order, and didn't even offer to send anything to us. The customer service is horrendous and the guy was not helpful at all. I am writing this now because I am craving wings and of course my co-workers have sworn off this place. Called them at 8:30, called them again at 10:30 wondering where our food was and they said it was just getting delivered and gave us an excuse about not having enough people to serve our order in a timely manner. I ordered Wings religiously when I was at school in Amherst, and was delighted to hear they would be opening in Boston. When they first opened they were getting deliveries to my door in 30 minutes, sometimes less. The past two deliveries have been a complete mess. My order on 5/17 took 1.5 hours to get delivered. Last night's order took 2 hours to get cooked, at 2.5 hours the driver called and said he was downstairs, but ended up being at a wrong address, he said he would be right there. Thirty minutes later I tried calling the driver, got his voicemail. I called the store, and got a helpful representative who said she would have her manager call the driver, have the driver call me, and I would get my food. No call ever came, and the website status said my food had been delivered. I called the store again, and the representative was surprised because she said the driver had informed her that my food had been delivered to me. I asked for a refund, and am waiting for it to process. Their food is still as good as I remember Wings being in Amherst, but their delivery service needs a major overhaul. Edit 7/5/14: Credit card was refunded, but the emails I sent to them via their website have still yet to be replied to. Love their boneless options if you want a meal without having to "work for it", but have lots of pre-set combos so you don't have to overthink it. I absolutely love Wings Over Boston. As a college student living in Mission Hill, it is pretty hard to find good restaurants that delivers to my far end of the Hill and that is cheap at the same time. Wings Over fits both those requirements. Spending $11 (including delivery tip) on food that can last me two meals is pretty great for a student on a budget! Not to mention, it's great study food as well. It's fast and it's convenient. I always order the honey BBQ hang glider here because I don't eat a lot and I don't like to get my fingers dirty. So disappointing. I LOVED wings over Brookline and was expecting the same level of quality. Unfortunately, our fries were cold and dry, all stuck together in one lump, also missing the cheese we ordered on them. The bone-in wings were good but the boneless were terrible. The breading was cold and hard and there was so little sauce on them that most of them were just plain stale chicken fingers. So I've never heard of this place before but apparently it's the wing place of choice of college kids. I can see why. It's a no frills type of place mostly catering to take out and delivery, and after reading most of the reviews it seems like most of the complaints come from having to wait a long time for food. I chose to eat in, and was surprised that it would take 30 mins. It actually took 36 minutes for 15 wings and a small side of waffle fries. But you know what, it was pretty good. Wings aren't meant for delivery cause you gotta eat them fresh when they're crispy. I got three flavors, golden bbq, Jamaican jerk and hot garlic. My favorite and the most highly recommended was the golden bbq.. It's sweet and tangy from the mustard and it just has this beautiful color that makes you want to sop up all of it which btw it goes great with the fries. The Jamaican jerk had a lot going on flavor wise that I didn't really care for and the hot garlic I didn't taste any garlic, just generic hot sauce. TERRIBLE service. I came here on a Thursday night, and I placed my order expecting to have it in maybe half an hour tops. Fast forward an hour. I finally get my food just as I'm about to complain to the manager. I take it home and SURPRISE!! No blue cheese OR celery, both of which I was offered and explicitly asked for. Oh, and they also apparently forgot about the salad I ordered, and proceeded to charge me for it anyway. Took me a half hour to get the manager on the phone, so by the time I got my salad the wings were cold. The wings themselves are pretty good, but they are not at all worth the woefully abysmal service. The place is ridiculously understaffed, and the staff who are there seem very apathetic. I think there were 4 people total working there, which is not nearly enough for the volume of customers that were there when I went. They all move at a snail's pace (even the manager!), and upon speaking to other customers in the restaurant I learned that this is not an abnormal occurrence. Several other consumers had been waiting well over an hour, including a first responder IN UNIFORM. It amazes me how this place stays in business with a staff that very clearly doesn't care the tiniest bit about their business or customers.
