We were there for brunch on a Sunday when we were visiting Philadelphia. It was family with four adults, a toddler and an almost one year baby! What a welcoming brunch place with a strong Dutch vibe!! Loved it! They have a large selection of dishes whether you are into Proteins, Carbs or Sugar. I ordered a spinach omelette while the toddler was thrilled to have his double chocolate pancakes! The omelets came with a healthy serving of potatoes and a salad. I ordered toasted Rye bread with my omelet and it was tasty! Very solicitous service and excellent service! Will be back again if I am in Philly again!
Really cute Dutch-influenced diner with coffee shop vibes Food was great with generous portions. Very friendly service as well Must try their bread pudding french toast - definitely a luxurious guilty pleasure Also had their smoked salmon omelette special which was fantastic - just make sure to add your own salt and pepper! Came here for brunch on a Sunday and the wait for 6 was about 40 minutes. Our server was super friendly and accommodating. I got the mustard crisped crab cake benedict and also shared a waffle. The crab cake was a little salty for my liking but the eggs were cooked perfectly. The side salad also added a nice acidity to the meal since the benedict is a bit on the heavier side. I do wish the potatoes were a little bit more seasoned but there is salt and pepper available at the table. The waffle was a bit disappointing because it was not very crispy on the outside. The apple compote was delicious. I probably wouldn't get the waffle again. The restaurant itself has an upbeat vibe, almost diner-like vibe. I would definitely come back again to try other menu items if I'm in the area again.
We loved our visit at Winkel this fall when we were in Philadelphia. I started with one of their mocktails of the day and loved it! Before arriving at the restaurant, I already had a strong craving for a benedict and ended up ordering the Mustard Crisped Crabcake. I've had crabcake benedicts from several different restaurants over the years and the one at Winkel is definitely one of the better ones I've had. The crabcake was perfectly fried, balanced, and seasoned well. At the end of our meal, we had an enjoyable and informative conversation with the owner, and we learned that he previously owned a restaurant in Chicago, where I live.
Winkle is easily one of the best food spots I've been to in Philly. A Dutch place that really knows what it's doing, and absolutely a must-try. I had the daily special, their twist on avocado toast, and it blew me away. Thick pumpernickel bread, creamy avocado, a sunny side egg cooked just right, and the kicker--pickled onion and cucumber slices that tied it all together. My wife ordered the deep-fried bread pudding French toast, which I can only describe as a heart attack on a plate I'd gladly sign up for. Heck, if the heart attack killed me, I'd die happy!! Sweet, rich, but not over the top. Just the right amount. We both walked out super happy, already planning our next visit. This place has the kind of food you think about long after the meal's over. In a word, WOW!!
Came here for brunch. The service here was super spotty. I finished my coffee and would have loved another one since it was bottomless, but the server never returned. The "potato hash" on our orders was just roasted potatoes, with nothing special about it. It was supposed to contain onions and it didn't have any. The food was average, nothing great, but nothing bad either. There is a ton of space and quiet enough to have a good conversation. Also interesting to note that it was BYOB.
Was staying at a hotel a couple blocks away and found this place via - shocker - the Yelp app! I was in town with family, and Winkel also hit the mark on having something on the menu that everyone would be able to enjoy for brunch - while also having some interesting, Dutch-style dishes (I always love to try something new whenever possible). We were there at 9:30am on a Sunday and got a table without any wait. Service was prompt, welcoming, and friendly. Brunch dishes came out quickly from the kitchen - and everything was delicious. Special props for the side of pickled items (spicy pickles, house recipe pickles, pickled red onions, and pickled pearl onions) available which includes pearl onions that are pickled in a recipe that includes turmeric. Delicious! Visiting Winkel feels a bit like getting a family meal - and the folks working here seem to truly focus on providing that homey ambience. So happy my family members and I got to try this place on our recent visit to Philly. Highly recommend!
Nothing to write home about. Met a friend for brunch here a few months ago. There was a wait so we put our names on the list and hung out across the street. After about 20min, we went back over and they said we were next on the list. Then they kept seating all these other people - to the point where we were like um I thought we were next on the list? They seemed irritated but they def skipped over us and finally got us sat. Very cute place inside, love the decor! The tables were laid out kind of haphazardly - I only noticed because I recently had ankle surgery and was in a walking boot, and I had to zig zag out of the way to get through the dining room because chairs were slammed up against each other. I got the brisket bennies and also ordered a diet coke. The bennies came out and I still had no diet coke, so I asked the guy who dropped the food off (he wasn't our server). Never got it. My friend had to ask for some condiments and I asked again for the diet coke. Never got it. Finally halfway into our meal, I had to stop someone and finally got my diet coke. The server never came over to our table during our meal to check on us at all - basically just took our order and cleared our plates. The bennies were just ok, they were bland and lacking in any type of seasoning. I liked the potatoes that came with it and the salad was very refreshing on a heavy plate of food. Pretty meh about the whole experience, likely won't be back as I have no reason to go here other than my friend was the one that picked it for brunch.
I did not have a reservation when I walked into Winkel on a late Sunday morning. I was seated immediately at a table for 2. The waitress was friendly and went over items that were not on the menu. I ordered all sides: potatoes/onions, ham, and an English muffin. After I added some salt/pepper to the potatoes they were delicious. My friend ordered the chicken n waffles and left nothing on the plate. Oh! And the coffee was so good- I got a cup to go!
We visited here on a Sunday for brunch around 1:30 PM, minimal wait..about 10 minutes, a party of 3. The service was excellent and the menu selection was great. Prices are reasonable. The decor was nice and seating was comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their food, my favorite were the home fried potatoes. I had the hard cook them to make them extra crispy on the outside and soften on the inside...delicious. I would definitely go back.
Great brunch at Winkel! We had the Benedict and the ham was nice and crispy! Potatoes could've been a little softer but that's okay. Hot chicken sandwich would've been a bit spicier but the chicken itself was good! Would go back because all their other brunch treats looked good too!
Ordered on DoorDash. Food packaged well. So so tasty. Creamed spinach omelette and bacon/blueberry pancakes were are unique items that I do not see on many menus. I want to go back and try so much more.
Ironically this little restaurant was the best meal I had while visiting Philadelphia. The ingredients are fresh and excellent quality. The staff are attentive and not in your face. The food flavors are outstanding. Their house hot sauce is fabulous. Everything we had was amazing. The coffee was average. A bit bitter. I would definitely recommend and return.

Had the opportunity to stop in for breakfast at Winkel during Philly's 52nd Pride Day. The service was outstanding with a well coordinated team of waitstaff who helped each other provide outstanding service. We had an outside table that provided a great spot for people watching. The Frittata was really good with some unique ingredients like cabbage and asparagus and the deep fried, bread pudding French toast was really dessert for breakfast! read more
We had a fabulous time at Winkel! The food was delicious! I appreciate that there are a number of options but not an overwhelming amount. However, I do wish they had some more side options. But they still deserve 5 stars for great service, great food, great atmosphere! It is located in a busy area of the city, so there is very limited metered parking, but there is also a parking garage nearby. Or if it's walkable, great! They also have outdoor seating on the sidewalk, to sit outside on those nice days. Overall, highly recommend! read more

Dutch themed restaurant that will blow your socks off. Many unique items to choose from but from the second I perused the menu for the first time the night before coming here I knew I was going with the Deep Fried Bread Pudding French Toast with Candied Bacon. Unlike any French Toast that has entered my mouth before it, it lit up my taste buds like a never extinguishing flame. My girlfriend was super cute when trying to decipher what to order as options galore overwhelmed her a bit and she ended up going with the Pear and Brie Omelette. This omelette did not disappoint as they put on a generous amount of delicious brie and we had enough left to take home for seconds which we devoured later that same night. The restaurant was very busy and they take no reservations but is hands down worth the wait. We ended up having about a fifteen to twenty minute wait during peekish hours. With all the options that the City has to offer for dining I can say this was a pleasure that lived up to its expectation. As always people SYOY!!! read more

Winkle is located in Center City and a great spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch with friends or family. I went with my partner for a Sunday brunch and was able to get a walk-in table. The menu at Winkle is a delightful blend of classic brunch favorites and innovative dishes that showcase the chefs' creativity. The portions are huge! I had their spring omelette and blueberry pancakes. The omelette that had sugar snap peas and blueberries. I was hesitant with the blueberry and egg combination and although it wasn't bad I don't think I would want to order the omelette with blueberries again. However, the blueberry pancakes were delicious! The staff is friendly and the dining area is clean with cute Dutch decor. I'd recommend to stop for brunch if you are in the area! read more
First time back at Winkel since the start of the pandemic. Took the family for their first time and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, the service was top notch. Visit: 1/15/24 I had an amazing breakfast at Winkel last month. This casual diner is great for a solo bite or BYOB brunch with friends. The servers are pleasant, attentive and helpful. I absolutely recommend Winkel. Chocolate Chip Pancakes: These pancakes tasted like they were made with love and the whipped cream was refreshing. They were light, buttery and the chocolate chips were not burnt. You have to request to add chocolate chips as this is not a menu item. Two Eggs: I ordered mine soft scrambled with cheese and they were very fluffy. I couldn't taste the cheese so next time I'll ask for extra. Crispy Potatoes: These were my 2nd favorite item from my breakfast. It's 70% well seasoned potatoes and 30% mix of crispy potatoes skins and fried onions. House Hot Sauce: This was my least favorite item. This is more tart than spicy and is very similar to the pulp from Italian salad dressing, plus the tiniest drop of Tabasco. I tried it with my eggs and potatoes and it didn't work for my taste buds. House Lemonade: I liked the lemonade. I requested extra lemons on the side (personal preference). Again, I absolutely recommend Winkel and I hope you enjoy your breakfast! * No reservations. I think you can order to go at the counter. read more

Came here on Saturday for brunch. They don't take reservations so we wanted to go early around 11am so we could get seated quickly. The waitress had told us 30min wait but we ended up not getting seated until around 12pm. By then there were less crowds. I would suggest coming at 12 noon if you're not a morning person - or come even earlier before 10:30am to avoid the long wait. I got the banana bread pulled pork topped with sunny side egg - which was their special of the week (or month?). It tasted so amazing!! Probably one of my top favorite brunch dish I've eaten. I don't know if I can find this anywhere else or how much longer it'll be on their special menu. The portions were huge and I was able to bring 1/4 of it to-go for another small meal. Was totally worth the wait, it's also BYOB so we bought our sparkling wine with us to enjoy with the meal. My friend got the other special of the day, which was a pesto frittata? It looked really good... but it comes with a salad so if you're hungry you might wanna order something else. The waiter ended up giving us extra potato on the side because they forgot the special only comes with salad. (Super nice of them!). Their potatoes are amazing! Overall had a great experience minus the long wait but it's not something they can control. I can see why they are so popular because the staffs are super friendly and food is delicious! Solid brunch spot - I'm sure this place sees a lot of business on the weekends. The one downside to the food we ordered was that, on the whole, everything was really salty. I was downing water like crazy. - Crab cake eggs benny. Eggs were poached perfectly with picture-ready yolkiness. But the crab cake, oh boy, was very salty. The only way to get around the saltiness was to douse it in the hollandaise sauce. - I wasn't sure what I'd be getting with the smorrebrod. Turned out to be three thick-cut slices of the Johnny's bread (hearty and grainy) topped with smoked fish and some sort of lemon-y caper sauce. The bread was absolutely delicious, though oily, but the sauce was again extremely salty. I loved the side salad, which came with pickled cucumbers and tomatoes - I could have eaten a whole bowl of just that. The croissants they had on display looked great. "Eet Smakelijk" reads the wall inside the dining area at Winkel. My Dutch-American friend told me that her family said it before dinner at home. It means "eat well," like saying, "Bon appetit!" before a meal. Eat well we did. I had a tough time deciding and settled on the mushroom leek omlette. I upgraded to the bread of the day for my toast, and it was the right call. The hearty, multigrain bread was delicious. The potatoes on the side were like a hot potato salad. Service was good. The manager stopped by and chatted with us and answered some questions my husband had about their sister restaurant, Noord. The coffee was good. My husband enjoyed his open-faced sandwich with ham, gouda, and sunny side up eggs. We almost didn't stop in because I was afraid of a long line on a Saturday morning since they don't take reservations. But we were quickly seated upon arriving. I am sure we'll be back. read more

Winkel is a delicious brunch restaurant, with lots of seating and fresh, flavourful food. I ordered scrambled eggs, it came with toast, salad, bacon and potatoes. Even though this is a standard dish, it was a cut above the rest. The bacon was delicious! And I would definitely come back to try something else. Very friendly service to boot. read more

Perhaps we ordered the wrong things but it was not good. The atmosphere was cute and the waitress was very nice but the hete kip was so nasty. The burger was good but not worth 20 dollars. The side salad is also not it, no one at our table of 5 touched their salad. read more

This delightful restaurant was just a few minutes walk from our VRBO rental and it was amazing! So many delicious items to choose from on the menu. The staff was knowledgeable, and the place was pretty bustling when we got there. I went with the salmon Benedict. The salmon is smoked in-house and it was so flavorful. We also got the Johnny bread to go and munch on it all week. It was it was fantastic with the honey butter and apricot jam. This restaurant is a definite got to try when you're in Philadelphia! read more

I came here on a Friday morning and there was no wait for a table of 4. The menu isn't the biggest, but the items on the menu are unique and delicious. We also tried the deep-fried bread pudding french toast. It was sooo good but beware, it's pretty sweet! My boyfriend ordered the vegetable frittata. We ended up sharing both and it was a great balance between savory and sweet. We also ordered the Jonathan's bread with butter & jam to share with the table. It was good, but be careful not to eat too much of it or else you won't have room for your meal! For my meal, I ordered You have to try the candied bacon, it's melt-in-your-mouth good! read more

Delicious food, great value -- wish they could take reservations! Came here on a Sunday for brunch. Had to wait about 25 minutes (ultimately not bad). I was lucky many people in front of me had left and I could therefore skip on the waiting list. Ambiance was not bad but nothing special. We got the: - Crabcake eggs Benedict (5/5) - great consistency of crab - fisherman's pancake (5/5) - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside - yogurt granola bowl (4/5) slightly sweet, great yogurt. Wish there was more yogurt and fruit and a little less granola Would definitely recommend for brunch in the Gayborhood! read more

Delicious food and friendly service! I was happy to visit Winkel during my short stay in Philadelphia. No reservations needed so my boyfriend and I were able to seat ourselves upon arrival. I ordered the salmon Benedict with a side of potatoes and salad. Even though the potatoes weren't the star of the show, they're worth an honorable mention. Usually the potatoes that are served at restaurants for breakfast are flavorless or down right bad, but these potatoes tasted AMAZING. Well seasoned and just delicious. I was expecting the salmon on the Benedict to be smoked thin slices of salmon but it wasn't. It was still enjoyable but I would have preferred the thin slices of smoked salmon. Overall, loved dining here and the staff made it 100 tines more enjoyable with their service. read more
Really nice place to grab brunch! I got the big breakfast where they give you eggs, choice of meat, salad and home fries. It's also a byob place so we got some orange juice to make mimosas. Overall I thought the food was really simple but really delicious! The salad was a great break from the heavier foods on the plate. The sausages were a little too salty personally but when paired with the potatoes or eggs it balanced out! read more

Went to Winkel for brunch this past weekend and came away extremely impressed. I got the sardou Benedict and absolutely loved it despite normally being very meh on artichokes, and my girlfriend got the breakfast sandwich which was also excellent. With just those two meals on the ledger, Winkel would have been a great experience for us. But what put this place over the top was the brown bread, listed on the menu as Jonathan's bread of the day. Without exaggeration the best bread I've ever consumed in my life. Summary -- Elite brunch restaurant with all time level bread. read more

To be on the safe side, I'd go ahead and call first. When my son and I went, they were pretty busy. Just call and ask.

Yes, for sure with champagne/wine! Not sure about liquor. No corking fee either.
So, is brunch on Sunday is only available for fixed price of $25/person?
per their website, "BRUNCH ITEMS ALSO AVAILABLE A-LA-CARTE" and the individual prices are clearly shown for the brunch items, so I would say no, not just the fixed price is available.
