A couple of things that would knock the rating down is that the chips and cheese drip are not served with enough chips. We took heaping scoops of cheese each bite and still had leftover cheese in our bowls. By the second order we said to the waitress that there hasn't been enough chips and asked if we could get just a few more to finish the two bites left. In the end they charged us for a whole extra side of chips when that's not what I wanted or asked for. When I asked for the charge to be adjusted, which I don't do often, the manager felt confrontational and made me feel awkward for their own miscommunication. What was 5 star experience turned into an uncomfortable encounter and brings it down to 4 star overall. Unfortunately, our experience went downhill after our server took our order. After taking our order, she never returned to our table. A busser ended up bringing our food, but we weren't given any silverware. Every time I tried to make eye contact with our server, she seemed to avoid us. Eventually, I had to get up and ask another employee for utensils. The food wasn't even that good. My daughter's bowl didn't have many shrimp and the ones it did have didn't look clean. First time visiting this restaurant on Pier 39 Fisherman's Wharf. It was packed with people watching the World Cup game. This place had a fun, beach themed diner vibe. This place was just decent to me. Nothing special about it, but not bad either. I came to the bar and ordered the chips and queso and I certainly wasn't expecting it to have a super authentic taste or anything, but it was just decent and could've been better. Ambience wise it was pretty much what I expected. It's a very family friendly environment and it's right in Pier 59 so there's a lot of people watching you can do because you can see into the pier from the bar and some of the seats as well. The service was decent, even though I was sitting at the bar I feel like the bartenders could've come around more often and checked on me than they did, but it wasn't bad either. We came to eat at Wipeout when we were exploring the Pier during our visit to San Francisco. We came an hour before they were going to close but they still seated us. We were near the bar so my wife brothers can watch the basketball game. My wife got the clam chowder in the bread, her brother got the Wipeout Fried Combo and I got the Grilled Salmon bowl. Our food came out pretty quick and we all loved our dish. My wife enjoyed her clam chowder, her brother and mom liked the fries seafood in the Wipeout combo and I thought the salmon bowl was good. Instead of walking around, we decided to settle here since there was no line and the menu looked good. We also liked the fun theme of the place. We were able to get seated right away, which was nice. I've been to San Francisco many times and I always visit The Pier, however, I don't normally eat at the restaurants there. Wipeout bar and grill it was okay. Keep in mind I'm currently in a restricted diet and I couldn't have a lot of what was on the menu.. so hard for me to give this place five stars when I didn't really get to try the food that I wanted! I ordered chicken teriyaki but substituted the rice for more veggies. The chicken was a little dry. If I'm ever in the area again I might go back and try something new, but I don't know when that's going to be. So for now it gets four stars. read more

The ambience is pretty loud, especially because you're at a tourist spot! The servers are also nice, but just remember that they may be pretty busy too so you might have to expect a wait. We started off with calamari and a bread bowl of clam chowder for appetizers. You can never go wrong with these choices. For our entrées, I got the tuna Poké bowl! What an interesting presentation it had. I would say it has a significant garlic taste, and the tuna was pretty yummy. However, I do think the ginger slices were a little bit too big and the edamame was also frozen. I don't think I would get it again, but it was still good nonetheless. My family got shrimp/carne tacos, fish and chips, as well as shrimp and steak. All but me finished the food. Personally, the Poké bowl just got kind of tiring after a couple of bites. Other than that, I would definitely come back here again to try the other food if I'm back in the city. Rude employee. Charged a fee/tip after I had already paid. Something we do whenever we visit the city is to get garlic fries from Wipeout. We always go to the take out counter rather than sit. I don't know what her problem was but the woman taking our order was so incredibly rude. She had the worst attitude and dirty look on her face. My dad and I ordered garlic fries and my husband got a clam chowder bread bowl. We also got a few drinks. Total came out to $39.60. I opted for no tip since it didn't seem like she cared anyway. Just today I got an updated charge for $44.60 so that means she added a $5 tip for herself. I've worked in food service. I know that tips are earned and not required. I tip every food service worker. But if you're rude then you deserve nothing. To add a tip after the fact is incredibly disrespectful and illegal. I can only imagine how many customers they do this to on a daily basis. I will never go here again and will be informing my friends and family of the BS this establishment practices. It's always good to revisit what millions of people come to see every year when they visit San Francisco which is Pier 39. It seems native San Franciscans are jaded about showing Pier 39 to visiting friends and family because we have other suggestions which are away from the Tourist trap path ( I know some natives of San Francisco who never visited Alcatraz). I landed at an obvious tourist trap at Pier 39 with a restaurant called Wipeout. It has all the fun things Pier 39 has to offer like food and drinks with a view and outdoor patio for people watching.
