    Crab legs.
    Norma L.

I try to go to SF for crab for my bday and this year I modified it. Fisherman's wharf is vastly different. Its been a few years and it was a bit desolate. This was probably due to Fleet week being greatly modified. Some the restaurants are not there. The hawkers still tried to get my business but I settled on this place. There was no one trying to wrangle me in and there was an Asian tour group giving them business as well as some local workers working on the docks. The menu isn't overwhelming which makes deciding much easier. I didn't go for the full crab, but settled on crab legs and of course you have to have the clam chowder bread bowl and with the boudin bakery across the way (literally) you know its fresh. Food came out quick and not over powering with seasoning. I could tell the crab was not frozen because usually the meats will stick to the shell. The clam chowder was tasty, but the was a noticeable lack of clams. There is ample seating inside and out. Nice stop for a quick lunch. Good for tourists and locals alike.

Walking pass, I seen how delicious the fish had looked, so I decided to go in and try it! I ordered fish & garlic chips (which are actually fries). The fish had a tasty crispy batter, and I liked it. The flavor of the fries were good too. I wanted clam chowder in the bread bowl, but I didn't like the fact that the bread was just sitting out. I didn't end up trying it. The service was decent. The food came in a good amount of time. The is indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating available.

This was the perfect place to have Valentine's Day lunch. If you're a garlic lover then you'll love the aroma in the air as you walk closer and closer to this restaurant. The service was great and efficient! The wait time for our food wasn't long at all. The pieces of fish in the fish n chips were big pieces that were cooked to the perfect crisp. The soft shell crab sando... out of this world! One of the best crab sandwiches I've had in a while. Now the garlic fries that come with the meals... phenomenal! If you want a quick bite definitely stop here. I'll be back again for sure!

Just stick to the Claim Chowder and Fish N Chips. The best claim chowder I've ever had, I'm picky with anything sea food and I've been to the Splash in Pismo(the worst for me). Got nothing on this and I tried all kinds of claim chowder in Morro Bay. I came back to this place for it. Claims bite size, not runny not too thick either. Honestly for all those 3 stars or less they're complaining about other stuff for sure. Who cares about the "dirty tables" wipe it yourself or "unsustainable ketchup packets" wash Yo Hands.. I'm here for food.

Nice spot after walking through fisherman's wharf. The clam chowder met my average expectation but wouldn't necessarily stand out from the ones in the strip. The garlic fries with calamari was delicious as an appetizer though. These dishes along with a margarita will definitely get you full. It was cloudy and chilly in SF so being able to eat clam chowder indoors with their homey vibe is a plus.

The Mai Tai in front of one of their windows looking out on the bay.

Popped in for a quick lunch while visiting some museum ships in San Francisco. It was conveniently located between the SS Jeremiah O'Brien and the USS Pampanito so I stopped in. I ordered the fish and garlic chips with a soda and a Mai Tai. I got the drinks right away and the order was ready within a few minutes. The fish was piping hot and delicious, and the fries were very garlicky. The Mai Tai was good and strong. I may have had a bit of an empty but even so I felt it going to my head by the time I was finished. The restaurant itself was clean, had a nice view of the bay, and was heavily decorated to the point of maybe being gaudy, though a little kid who was in the restaurant at the same time really seemed to enjoy all the little planes and cars and whatnot. So maybe he's more the target audience for that. It was a good, fast lunch in a pleasant environment.

I was excited to try this place due to my love of garlic and clam chowder. Sadly, it was just okay. I think they could have doubled down on the garlic more across the board. The clam chowder was good, but again just okay.

This is SUPER CUTE, great presentation but the taste was BAD. I really hoped for a better experience.

The environment is great location however the service personnel looked SUPER annoyed when we entered unknown to us at the time. So we order the fish sandwich and crab sandwich the taste was horrible but we thought maybe it was just us due to being so hungry. The French fries were AMAZINGLY GOOD, so we entered to attempt to order a 2nd order to be told we are CLOSED! Now we knew why the personnel was so annoyed, it would have been better to just say we are CLOSING SHORTLY and I would have completely understood and would have rather NOT gotten served bad food. Their choice so here my review for my experience.

What great staff, the inside of the place is nearly decorated and very much clean. The food were big portion and is perfect to share with a close friend or love one.

I've been to Tony's a few times, and the first two times, my hub and I have left raving about it and telling all our friends and fam to get to Tony's. If any menu item says Grandma in it.... you can be sure it's an incredible pizza. They're extremely accommodating and service is great. It's a l w a y s busy, even on weekdays, even in the middle of the work day. Reservations are smart! Parking is not easy but not impossible in the area. We live in the city so we always take public transportation. Within the last 6 months, I've discovered a gluten and dairy allergy that really took me down. Without getting into the gnarly details, it wasn't fun and I've been grieving pizza since this new discovery. So why would I go to Tony's with this new allergy? Because! I read that they offer a gluten free, dairy free pizza. Insane I know, but yet they offer it and I was PUMPED. When asking the waiter what I can get based on my needs, he responded to me like I was a war criminal. He was a Caucasian gentleman with brown hair. He raised his voice for all the diners to hear about my allergies, told me I couldn't get any pizza, and when I pointed out that there were options, he told me "I'll triple check if this is possible for you." When he came back and confirmed it was possible, he tells me they can do a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni. It felt like the moment he heard 'gluten' and 'dairy,' he mentally categorized me as 'vegan' and stopped looking for ways to make the experience enjoyable. Yikes! Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

Here's how it went: Service: friendly. Once off hold on the phone, and when picking up, the staff was pleasant for sure. The space: convenient walk up counter. Love a good sticker wall, and the display was nice to have. Value: honestly reasonable, especially comparatively. Ordered a small cheese and a small garlic and clam and two people could for sure share a small. Taste: other recent reviews are hitting it on the head - while the garlic and clam was decent (3.5/5), the cheese struck a core memory of elementary school cafeteria pizza (just without the tiny pepperoni diced cubes, 2/5), and both were just lukewarm, soft/not at all crisp, and just weren't packing much flavor at all. I can see Golden Boy being a workable late night solution for the City that Goes To Bed Early, but not much else beyond that at this point. Rating 3 stars at places with nice people working is not my favorite, so I'm glad that it's an institution and has stood the test of time and truly hope that they can/will calibrate on elevating their formula here, because I want to see this place deserve the love it gets.

The pizza has charred edges like Neapolitan which adds a nice smokey flavor. The crust has zero flop and a nice golden crust on top. Sauce has a tough of sweetness. I also enjoyed their use of fresh basil and the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano they throw on at the end. It's kinda like a new york slice, but a little gourmet? Very tasty for sure. Critiques: First off, each slice is $6-7, which is a bit steep. Maybe times have changed, but this is def not a budget meal, especially if you are eating multiple slices. Second, some of their already crispy slices have been sitting on display for some time and completely cooled down. When these slices are then reheated, there is a bit of an overcooked taste? Lastly, they only have a few topping options and the quantity of toppings on each slice (especially protein) is pretty sparse. I also ordered a slice of the Sicilian as well to mix things up. It was good, but the crust was just a touch too greasy for me.

When we arrived, our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about the beers, but honestly, that wasn't a big deal. My boyfriend ordered his pizza while I was still deciding what I wanted. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
