Bruce is the freaking best, he cares about you like family and always gives great recommendations when you're not sure what to get. The Pho is some of the best I've had, the broth is very flavorful. I was staying at the motel across the street from Wok-In and was excited to try it after reading the great reviews. I got here shortly before closing time and ordered the special pho to go plus an order of spring rolls. The pho was lukewarm which would have been a problem if I had not had a microwave in my room. (You have to heat the broth to cook the beef, which comes raw.) Once I got it up to temperature, it was a-ok... not outstanding, but not the weak broth which is the bane of bad pho. The spring rolls were as expected, and a good value at $3 for two big ones. This is a modest mom-and-pop place with friendly service. Aside from the pho, you can order a combo meal from a steam table (put away for the evening when I was there) with 1, 2 or 3 entrees. Every time I try a new place similar to Wok-In, I wonder why I am not earring there now. My wife and I like to try new places but there is something said about coming home. In this case we come home to Wok-In. And 95% of the time we order the same thing. It's not like we didn't like the new thing we ordered it's just that we Love the same two things we usually get- Pho and Singapore noodles. And we generally give the new places to try's sometimes a good sometimes or not but Wok-In, The food is always very good plus we enjoy talking with Bruce who seats us and takes our order and his family owns the place. If you're looking for a fancy upscale overpriced place don't come here but if you're looking for a great neighborhood place that's super friendly and has fantastic food come on down. read more

Every time I see the name, it makes me think about someone Wok-In on someone else. Perhaps they want to stress that this is opposite of a "drive thru." The location blends in to the Ol'Newport background but dont pass it by, this location is a gem. Though the interior is still in some transition in the post covid times, your money and time will be well spent at this location or for takeout. Order anything, it all comes a plenty and fresh from the cook range. My coworkers and i stop in from time to time and always receive steaming hot plates that are easily able to be split for two. Yum! I enjoyed my dinner tonight thoroughly. I was on my own tonight while hubby was at church, so I took to Yelp to find an inexpensive but worthwhile dinner stop. I hadn't had great Vietnamese egg rolls with the lettuce, mint and sauce in far too long. Tonight that changed. Paired with their delicious hot and sour soup (and a relaxing, unassuming atmosphere), I left satisfied. I didn't need the bowl of soup--a cup was enough, filled with tofu and flavor. Even though their other menu items looked tasty my leisurely meal was surprisingly filling enough, taking my grand total to $7.00 + tip! I really debated taking a star off for the flies I had to wave away and the lack of a hook or surface to place my purse on in the bathroom, but the flavors, price and positive "hole in the wall" experience kept me kind...and don't get me wrong, this hole-in-the-wall has plenty of space to park and eat. Just be careful if you park along Newport Ave. I recommend exiting on Santa Isabel. A last note: I remember when this was a Mongolian BBQ place--also nothing fancy--and I miss it. This is my go to place to get my fix when I miss my mom's cooking - couldn't give this 5 stars (my mom would kill me)! I've order from this place frequently in 2017-mid 2018 (stopped bc I was on the keto diet). They remembered me and asked me how I was. So sweet!
