Here in town for the weekend and was craving Chinese food. Despite what the yelp reviews said, I still wanted to give this place a chance. The reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars is for the fast service & how they were willing to still let me order 45 mins before closing. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered sweet and sour pork, beef & broccoli, and shrimp fried rice. I enjoyed the fried rice especially the shrimp. As far as the 2 other dishes, they were not the best tasting or flavorful. We had dinner here at Wok N Rolls which is located at Mammouth Lakes in a little mall area off of Main St near to Vons Supermarket. We came in at around 5 o'clock and should have known right away that something was off because there was no one in the restaurant during dinner time and no one came in the the period of time we had dinner here. The price of the dishes was reasonable but they weren't very good. We ordered spring rolls for appetizers, beef mixed vegetable, a tofu dish and a chicken dish. None of them was very good. If it wasn't for the good service I wouldn't even give a star at all. we were seated immediately. Food came out fast. This is Asian inspired food. If you're looking for authenticity, forget about it . I ordered shrimp noodle soup. Broth tasted as bland as possible. I had to dump soy in it for flavor. Shrimp came unpeeled and the noodle was spaghetti noodles. if you know then you know. it was near impossible to eat the shrimp I had to put it on a side plate for it to cool down so that I can peel it off. I just wanted to say not everyone has time to sit and peel shrimp that's scorching hot during lunch break . over all I wouldn't recommend. Wow, I really wanted to give this place a chance but the reviews are unfortunately accurate. First, half of the things on the menu weren't available. Second, the portion sizes are laughable. Takeout comes in the paper boxes that are usually reserved for white rice. Like literally an $18 dish comes in a tiny takeout box. Food is on par with Panda Express. It's too bad this is the only Chinese takeout in town. read more

Keeping up with tradition. Definitely 2 stars. No more, no less. Potstickers were of the frozen type, then pan fried. Tofu vegetable soup was salty and gross. 3 meat lo mein was salty and oily. Mongolian beef was ok, at least the veggies felt fresh. Fried rice that came with the entrees were disgusting. Weird things: 1) they do not provide little sharing bowls, so if you order soup, either be ready to be drinking it out of the bowl with whomever you're sharing the meal with, or order your own; 2) they ask you upon giving you the bill how much tip you're giving them, which I felt a bit off putting. read more

I got tofu vegetable fried rice and my friend got Mongolian Beef(his favorite). My fried rice wasn't as good as I've had at other places, but okay enough to eat. My friend said that the Mongolian beef was horrible and wouldn't eat it. We told the waitress that it wasn't good. We thought she would take the Mongolian Beef off the bill but she didn't, and worse yet she added a tip on her own. read more

Got takeout today. Been in Mammoth for two months. Thought I'd try this place. Got orange chicken which was very soggy and didn't have a lot of flavor. Feel like it had been sitting for several hours. Also got broccoli beef. Again broccoli was over cooked and food didn't taste fresh. Stir fried rice was a disappointment. Service was fast for take out. Probably because it wasn't made fresh and just spooned out of a trough. Will not be going back. Stay away from this place. I should had checked their reviews before going in but me and my 6-yr old son were starving and this place was the only one without a wait (another red flag). I placed an order to go, which she botched a few times, then when I gave her my Amex she said she didn't take Amex. It was the only card I had and we were hungry so I told her to add an extra fee on top of the bill. She said she would add $8 on a $46 bill, clearly just trying to rip me of. Good service. Decent food, good portion sizes. And it's actually affordable. Most restaurants in Mammoth are extremely expensive and really crappy, 3/4 of the Mexican restaurants are gross. The potstickers they use are of the frozen ones like someone mentioned. What I also think should be mentioned is that any restaurant in Mammoth will serve you the same potstickers for twice the price and half the portion. Orange chicken is kind of mushy though. I'd been in Mammoth since 1994. Back then this AWESOME restaurant called Matsu was the bestest place ever but unfortunately it went out of business. Rex the owner was awesome as well. So when this place wok' n 'roll opened I gave so many chances but sadly it really doesn't meet the expectations in food quality, specially in customer service. I don't even know how it's still in business! This owner I believe worked for this restaurant back then. Will never compare to food quality or customer service. read more

This place is so ridiculous! They refused to provide us utensils!!!! Unbelievable! We are Chinese and we are visiting Mammoth Lake and trying to get some rice dishes! So we found this Chinese restaurant, we have 4 people in one car and 3 of us came down and going to the restaurant ordering food for Togo! We ordered 2 main dishes and one sides, we asked for 4 chopsticks! The lady at the counter she immediately refused us with bad attitude, saying NO, I CAN ONLY GIVE TO 3! BECAUSE THEY ARE LOW IN UTENSILS! It's the first time someone at restaurants refused to provide utensils! But we tell her that we have 4 people, and she yelled at us again, she said please leave and they gonna call police! It seems like a family owned restaurant, a man came out and check on what's going on, he looks at what we ordered, he said it's so CHEAP! Can I count this as racist? I think so, and I asked him, if we dine in here, do we still only get 3 utensils? And this man repeated again, this is so cheap! Why you only ordering 2 dishes! You have 4 people! read more

I came in an hour and a half before closing, which is 730 after a long day of snowboarding, and let them know that my family and I are here for a table for nine. The woman was rude and laughed and said no I'm closin I can only do takeout. Being that the dining room is almost completely with just two smaller groups I think it was ridiculous to turn us away. Decent food in a mountain town. I love good, authentic Chinese food as much as everyone else but there's always a soft spot in my heart for places like this. Support small businesses, especially those that are brave enough to do something other than burgers/pizza! Decor was nice, better than a lot of other places in town. Nice and cozy with friendly service. HUGE portions! Not served family style but that's 100% ok with me. Orange chicken: crispy, tender, full of flavor. Sweet and sour pork: same! Chicken and broccoli: meat was tender, sauce was flavorful. Broccoli was a tad overcooked (-1 star) but not mushy. Kung Pao chicken: solid flavor, didn't really get to taste it since my brother ate it so fast. Also, I can't help but laugh at the complaints about the tea bags. So many other places do that (including legit Chinese places ), relax! Enjoy the snow and nature and have some Chinese American grub. read more

Portion sizes are extremely small and a full "meal" comes in a little box. Food has no flavor and do not get the fried rice there.

When your dinner reservation doesn't exist at the sushi restaurant you thought you had a reservation at and you're trying to find a restaurant that has seating for 7 people to eat on a Saturday, you take what you can get...which ends up being a Chinese restaurant called Wok N Rolls. And then you start to question your choice once you get your jasmine tea in a mug with a tea bag. Then, you look at the menu and the choices are pretty limited...and they have Kung Pao Eggplant and Eggplant Kung Pao. Which one should we get? When the waitress comes to take our orders, we are told that the entrees are single portions that come with rice. We are so perplexed, we had her repeat it again. When she looks at us like we are aliens, we say "I've never been to a Chinese restaurant that doesn't have food served family style with the rice as a side"...and she says to the Chinese people sitting in front of her, "Well, not all Chinese restaurants are the same". We ask the kid who goes to college in Kansas what the Chinese restaurants are like there and he said they are served family style there. We ordered the pancit thinking that if a Chinese restaurant has pancit noodles, it's likely to be worthwhile. See below for their version of "pancit". And then my husband pointed out that pancit was misspelled. Whoops! We totally missed that! One of our family members asked for pineapple rice as his choice of fried rice, and it showed up as fried rice with some pineapple pieces on top of it. The kids got orange chicken because "it's gotta be solid no matter where you go". They were right. It was the most expensive worst meal we've had in a very long time. But at the end of the day, we had a semi-warm, really salty meal, spent time with family, were warm and on vacation. Not much to complain about. But I still would NOT recommend this place if you want Chinese food. You're better off going to the Von's down the street and getting some microwaveable frozen Chinese meals. You'll save a bunch of money and about 1000 grams of sodium from your diet. read more

Came here with a party of five. Was surprised it was cash only but we confirmed we should have enough. Four of us found the food adequate-the portions were paltry compared to other Chinese restaurants we've visited but edible. Fried rice is more than adequately on par and did a superb job fixing my craving for some rice after several days of skiing with only hot pot and ramen noodles and sandwiches. if the fried rich is any indication, their other offwrings should be on mark too, will look forward to trying the rest of the menu next time in town. read more
