    #3 Khao Soi
    Ryan H.

Tried to come here 3x, but it's always so packed! Luckily came in during lunch and was seated right away. Also when it's packed they do not do take out orders. Got the pho regular and khao soi regular. Their regular was huge at least 1.5 meal, so idk who the heck is ordering a large. Both were solid and had clean flavors! Service was also great, both waiters extremely friendly and efficient! Learned a lot about hunting dogs!

Surprisingly authentic pho! Nothing beats a hot bowl of noodles on a chilly night after a hard day of skiing. Menu is simple with a variety of phos and only boiled dumplings for appetizer. They have a wide selection of boba drinks available for take out. I've had to wait as long as an hour so plan ahead. They will take your cell phone number so you're not tethered to the waiting area.

Highlights: - coming from an asian person, you know what? not bad for mammoth lakes area - khao soi was flavorful and full of spices - pho was ok, (7/10) but probably the closest you'll get in the area - soup just hits different after a long day of snowboarding - get the green thai iced tea! - you put down your name and they text you when table is ready

The service is fast and the servings are big! You don't need the large pho to get a fair amount of food. Inside is always busy (in a good way) and lively. You shouldn't have to wait long for a table if you're a group of two. Definitely try #3 if you like spice, but a classic like #2 will never disappoint.

Very mid pho. But it's the only one in mammoth, so here we are still coming to this place. The drinks were overly sweet. The noodle soup was lacking in aroma and flavor. The service was very very slow. There's always a wait because how slow they are. Takes forever for food to come out.

This place was so packed and busy after a long mammoth day that we had to wait an hour to be seated but it was so worth it! My friends and I got the khao soi and the pho with beef brisket. Both were delicious in their own way! The khao soi I had never tried before and was deliciously full of that minced meat! The pho was honestly I thought better though because of that fresher and stronger taste! Would recommend coming after a long day, it really hits different!

Quiet environment. The sauce with potstickers taste the fresh ginger so delicious. Phone was amazing! The flavors were on point. The fact that they have a variety of noodle types. Service was great. Highly recommended.

ALWAYS hits the spot. Danilo was attentive as well as the entire crew. We had the BBQ Pork Noodle soup, Khao Soi, and the steamed dumplings. This place is chill but lively.

Was craving noodle soup after snowboarding, and this guy the spot! Luckily we arrived early enough to get a table right away, but there was a wait to be seated later in the evening. I had a boba tea and the khao soi, which was Lao style with rice noodles, and a tomato and pork broth. Interesting dish I had never tried before. The broth was a little on the salty side, and they had extra spice and sauces at the table. The tea was good but the boba was a little old and stuck together.

Was craving some pho on our roadtrip and stopped through mammoth. Super happy to find this pho spot and a place that goes it well! It wasn't very busy when we came for lunch and got seated right away. Plenty of tables and parking which makes it easy. Server did a good job of answering our questions mainly about how spicy the spicy noodles are (not that bad he said) and he was right. I ordered the pho (no spicy) and my boyfriend got the spicy noodles (forgot exactly which one). We both really enjoyed it. Would recommend this place !

This pho spot is so very, very busy. It's like they don't get any breaks! There's a waitlist, and the line never ends. Once you get seated, there's more people coming to wait in line fora table. However, the workers are still very attentive and provided good service. We ordered the #2 Pho with Braised Beef and #4 Noodle-Ly Chicken Noodle. Very good and tasty pho, although the soup did have too much salt.

We were stopping in mammoth lakes for the night on our way to tahoe and were in need of a good meal after a long drive. This was close to our hotel and looked yummy, while still being casual enough for a lively 18 month old who had been in a car all day. We got the pho with rare beef and Vietnamese kao soi. I also got a lychee milk tea with rose jelly. The phone tasted good initially, but finished super salty, the meat was very tender. The kao soi tasted more like an italian fusion dish that anything Asian. It did taste good but not what I was expecting based on the kao soi I've had. Something in it made my stomach a little touchy too. Maybe all the oil in it or just that it contains a good deal of garlic. The drink wasnt to sweet at all, but instead of rose jelly they gave me popping Boba. The workers were very nice, and the portions are large. I do wish when smoke from fire come son that they didnt leave the screens open. It was really hard to breathe for me, and I had to end my meal faster than I normally would have.

Tried out their special #3! It was good, but if you aren't into fishy taste, maybe try something else. Personally I enjoyed the broth flavor and the texture with the chicharon added. We also tried the dry noodles (#5)and it was on the sweeter side!

    We need better straws tho

My friend and I both ordered summer roll (pork and lettuce wrapped in rice paper) and spring rolls (shrimp and lettuce wrapped in rice paper) at $12 for 4 rolls. The Vietnamese owner lady was very nice and let us order them as a mixture of 2 spring rolls and 2 summer rolls as one order. Freshly made to order. They look and taste very "home made", also on the smaller side compared to what I'm used to (lots of Vietnamese restaurants near where I live), and these rolls do not come with rice noodles as many others I'm used to. All that aside, we took our very first bite a few hours later and my friend immediately felt stands of hard thin strings in her mouth, and spitting out SEVERAL STRANDS of short hair, which is not the same color as her own long hair. Shocking. Very shocking. My rolls were just fine with no foreign substances, however the more we eat the more we are getting grossed out from the encounter...she didn't finish eating that roll with hair in it and continue to eat 2 out of the 3 rolls left and so did I, since we were both very hungry and it was our only food option during the long journey, but the whole time we were getting more and more grossed out and none of us ate the 4th last roll in our order. Payment: She accepts credit card or Venmo, but any other form of payment besides cash would be an extra dollar of up charge. Instead of paying $13 for a $12 item, we decided to scramble for cash to pay her. Location: One of three food trucks located in a dirt road parking lot with active large and live mosquitoes flying around attacking us while we order food and dine. A Mexican taco truck each to the left and right side of this Vietnamese food truck. Other: This lady owner says she's had her business here for 5 years now. Had wanted to try several items on the menu but already made a purchase with the taco truck to its right. Perhaps it's a good thing, because the sanitary and hygiene issue here is questionable. I hope she starts to wear a hair net when she preps food. I mean, I understand we all shred hair daily and she must of been working hard to chop the veggies and hand roll each spring roll...but we really don't need that evidence in the form of strands of hair in our food...

Located in the Barnyard shopping center this Vietnamese restaurant is a little dated, but don't let the decor deter you. The food is in incredible! I ordered a large bowl with thin sliced meat balls along with spring rolls for the table. First off, I should've gotten a small bowl of pho, the large bowls here are massive. I had plenty of leftover for the next day and the day after! The broth was delicious with deep rich flavors and the noodles were slightly al dente, which I loved. I couldn't help myself and active point picked up my bowl and just started sipping the broth. My wife ordered the same thing as I, minus the meatballs and she too, could not get over how much flavor the broth had, almost like they had been slow cooking this for the past three days straight. The spring rolls were 100% handmade and the filling inside was delicious. We did bring our kids with us and we're definitely nervous because they are very picky eaters. They do offer a kids menu, but there isn't much to it. It's basically rice broth and your choice of meat. We ordered my 4-year-old daughter a small bowl of rice with broth and chicken; she loved this and kept asking for more! My son (7) went big and ordered pho with squid... he inhaled everything! Even asking if we could order more squid on the side to which we did and he ate that as well. This was huge win for mom and dad, now we can do pho to the family dining out rotation. This is a family own restaurant and the staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Branden, our server, help to answer any questions and was very attentive to make sure we had everything we needed!

Ordered pork chop, hot tea and pho with marrow which I have already reviewed. Pork chop and sauce is a number two seller directly behind the pho. When I want a pork chop, I want it moist, and the fat crispy and salted and seasoned well. This hit every single mark! I normally care that I am in a restaurant and don't chew on bones. I did not have one care in the world and picked up my pork chop bone and chewed every single crispy morsel of caramelized goodness from that bone. The sauce that accompanies the pork, rice and egg was slightly sweet and was the perfect balance to dip rice and pork into! It was light and bright and enhanced the flavors not overpowering them. The egg. It is surprising how many places can't cook an egg where the yolks natural fatty goodness isn't overcooked. I busted the yolk and let it drip all over my rice mixing it in to give the perfect amount of salt and fat mixed with the swing pork and sauce! It was a perfectly delicate bite filled with different textures! I will definitely order this again! The hot tea is made with natural herbs in it and not a cheap paper tea bag like other places. It is very simple, mild tea that is easy on the tongue and the belly. I enjoy my pot of hot tea every time I come! Thanks again for a day filled with excellent customer service and phenomenal food! Our waitress, as well as the other on the floor, were both very welcoming and friendly. They handled the service remarkably as a team. The fact that they were a packed house and still were very attentive with us, checking how we're doing, checking on our water refills... these are the little things I appreciate most (and, of course, good food). I got the Pho with the Fatty Brisket, my friend got just the Steak Pho. They have a bar against the wall with all garnishes you may need to grab what you'd like. This is pretty smart... It saves them from waste. Instead of giving people items they may not use-- they would just grab what they'd like themselves. My friend grabbed her goodies, I prefer mine as is. To me, if your broth is good and doesn't require me to flavor it... I'll eat it just like that (unless I feel like adding spice). I've only ever been to a few other Pho places where I had to season up the broth myself...definite no no for them. All my friends who have gone out to eat Pho with me know I eat it just how I get it. Pho from my Mama is a different story though... I put the works (not because it's not flavorful) but, it's just different. Moving on... They also have a Teazona in their establishment. I've tried a few different drinks in the past but came to regularly deciding on the Tiramisu Milk Tea (no flan for me, light boba). Make sure to shake it well. You can also let them know your preference on the level of sweetness. We both got this tonight and it nearly tipped me over on the full scale. Couldn't finish it. Everything was really good though. Pho was the perfect choice for this weird, gloomy weather we've been having. The price is a bit up there but that seems to be the norm everywhere nowadays. But-- for the portion, the quality, and the service? Worth it.
