Not a place I'd go back to, not for treatment like that. I've been here twice: the first to put $200 on a gift card for my parent's 29th anniversary, and the second to check out their happy hour with a friend, and both times I've dealt with some of the most stuck up staff members I have ever come across. First visit....I waited for the hostess to finish her phone call, I assume a reservation. It's cool, I'm in no rush, just waiting. She gets off the phone, looks at me (I'm at the counter in front of her, so I'm hard to miss) and busies herself, avoiding eye contact. Whatever, she's doing her job, perhaps had a rough day, I'm not hurt for her lack of greeting. I'll just wait til she's booking Customer X's reservation.......she finishes whatever she had to do and walks away from the counter and starts chatting it up with another hostess, talking story! Ok now I KNOW you're trying to avoid me. Big mistake. Me, smiling: HI. Hostess, hesitant to acknowledge my voice: Oh. How can I help you? Me: Yes you can actually. I'm here to purchase a gift card for my parents anniversary. Hostess: Oh. So how much were you wanting to put down? Me: Two hundred please. On one card please. Hostess: That's fine. Let me go ring this up in the back. I've never worked in a restaurant. Perhaps the back computer is much more magical than the front computer? I can't judge, whatever, I wait. She didn't come back.....Male manager comes out and wonders why my friend and I are standing there. Manager: Have you been helped? Me: Well, there was a girl here who said she'd help with the gift card, but she kinda disappeared.... The girl was forced to come up front by the manager, who then directed her to do the gift cards as I had requested. She was annoyed at me for whatever reason, and gave me the gift card....with one teeny little error. Hostess: Here. A gift card for a hundred dollars. Me AND Manager: It's supposed to be for Two Hundred. Hostess, looks at me: I thought you only had one hundred? ........... Manager apologizes to me, makes her crank out another gift card for an additional hundred, and has her write a "thank you" note in the gift cards for me. The ONLY enjoyable thing from that little visit to Wolfgang's was the look on stuck up hostess' face when being forced to play nice- she was piiiiiiiisssed. ---------------------- Second visit. Picture hostess times 6. I wouldn't have gone back here had it not been for my curiosity for their food. As a yelper, I gotta give restaurants a fair shot, service AND food. So three months later, here I am on a date for happy hour, eager to try the steak and have some drinks. Bartender and the first five waiters and waitresses were not friendly at all. Bartender wouldn't make a drink he didn't know how to make, even though I told him how, he had the ingredients. The staff avoided our table, and only popped in to give drop the food on our table Literally drop it- no 'and here you are! enjoy!' No 'can I get anything else for you?' or 'Be careful, it's hot!' The unsaid was more along the lines of 'Eat and leave so someone else can sit here.' JJ was the ONLY nice waiter there and it is purely for him that there was even a tip and an extra star on this review. He's an older gent and was most exemplary, sticking out from his workmates like a star- friendly, courteous, efficient, and attentive. So many servicemen/women forgot that we asked for the check a while ago....we managed to flag him down and he apologized profusely for our wait, and got us a check in a matter of seconds. Food- Fries were delish! Steak sliders were served cold. Juicy, but cold. Lobster crustinies were pretty good too. Not a "wow" item, but tasty for sure. What a great spot to grab a nice steak! I am pretty sure this is the ONLY place on the island that you would want to come to have a real aged steak. I had the porterhouse which was amazingly cooked and was very tender to the point it almost melted in my mouth; no Kobe but still top notch! The steak had a wonderful taste, these were really good dry aged steaks! I also had the Creamed Spinach, OMG that was orgasmic! You must get this if you come here! Also had the asparagus which was tasty! Additionally I had crab with a dipping sauce and fresh (live) oysters for my appetizer. Yes I ate well indeed! And the price was PERFECT, not over the top but just right for a great meal. Service here is very good as well is the decor. If you are a wine drinker, I think you'd pass out over the wine cellar they have in this place. Had to have been a few hundred of bottles in it! SIDE NOTE: I came here originally thinking it was THE "Wolfgang" as in Wolfgang Puck, but half way through my meal I figured out that it was not Wolfgang Puck's place but some other dude whom I've never heard of. That honestly made me a tad bit upset, not down right pissed off or anything but I did feel it was a little misleading considering the way this place brands. I have mixed feelings about this place. Although I enjoyed the food, the service was average at best. The first thing I noticed was that the hostesses (or maybe just the one hostess) didn't seem very professional. I would have expected them to dress more classy and conservative. I'm sorry, but one of them looked like a hooker. She also seemed to be chatting with her friends at the bar while the other hostess was busy at the front desk. Moving on... Our waiter was nice enough to give us the run down of the menu and their specials. We ended up ordering the lobster cocktail and porterhouse for two with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The lobster cocktail was amazing. There was more meat than I expected for the $22. The porterhouse was cooked medium rare, exactly how we ordered it and it came out still sizzling on the platter. The creamed spinach was so creamy and soft, almost like baby food. The mashed potatoes were very creamy as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the food but damn, can I get some water? I didn't order anything else to drink and their water glasses were tiny and only refilled once. I kept waiting to see if someone was going to refill it but no. There were waiters and what not all over the place and they can't even keep the water glasses filled? It was a Saturday and they were busy but it really bugs me that they weren't on top of things. The dining area was a bit congested and became very loud. It didn't feel like I was in a nice place...it felt like a diner or cafeteria. I went here on Sunday May 16th during lunch for their hamburger special that I happened to see while browsing oceanic's hawaiieventsonline.com. The wait help service was unbelievably good and even the super tall manager in the suit was one step ahead of our needs. I did read the last person's review and I cannot even picture what he experienced by the extremely good service that I got. After reading that I felt that I should at least mention my very first and recent experience there just to be fair. I am not calling the other writer a liar nor am I writing this just to backup Wolfgang's, I am just stating my honest personal experience. I had the hamburger special for $10 that came with onion rings, french fries, pickles, sweet onions, tomatoes and lettuce plus all the condiments. The hamburger was cooked to perfection just as I ordered it, medium and full of juices that ran out with every bite. The Hamburger with everything in it barely fit in my mouth without stretching my jaw, I had to cut in half just to eat it, and yeah it was that large. It also included a free soft drink with endless refills of which I drank 4. My girlfriend had the Hollywood chopped salad that she really enjoyed, it had many different vegetables along with what I think was feta cheese and either mango or papaya bits in it. I did taste 4 fork fulls and everything in there complimented each other with the fruit adding that extra touch. During the entire time we were there, we were never neglected nor was anyone else that I saw. When I asked for an extra napkin, not only did I get 2 hot wet towels but also lemon wedges to wash my hands with. The tall manager guy in the nice suit seemed almost psychic as my coke and water kept being refilled without me having to ask even once. Our bill barely came out to 22 bucks and I gladly left $30 dollars to cover the bill with tip. There are not many places especially in Waikiki where you can eat a meal like that for that low of a price coupled with top notch service anymore. They also validate your parking for 3 hours and when you drive out you pay nothing. I have been to other places in the Royal Hawaiian shopping center that validate, but with those validations you still have to pay $3 minimum when you leave. I knew it was going to be a long dinner at a Steakhouse, so I was mentally prepared. What I was not prepared for, was how much I would enjoy it! Service was excellent, you don't find that much. There were about 7 servers who came out to bring our apps, and once we were done about 7 servers came back out to clear our plates (we had a party of 10). That was how it went for the rest of the courses. Apps were great! Our party enjoyed the raw oysters, best in the US. Crab cakes were good, and so was the "famous" bacon. They did the entree ahi as an app for all of us to share and that was good also. The house bread was a little dry and served room temperature. Steaks were huge! The rib eye was about a pound bone in. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy in the middle. No sauce needed, but their sauce is good. Sides were good, although I didn't have too much. We had creamed spinach, mushrooms, onion rings, cottage fries, and asparagus. No one finished their steaks, however we all had room for desserts. When the key lime pie arrived I was surprised, it was about half an inch thick, but with a lot of "schlag" on the side. Far short for the price, then I took a bite and felt that it was worth it. Powerful taste for a small pie, one of the best key lime pies. Sundaes were good, but it is tough to mess up a sundae. Beautiful decor, very open, not your typical steakhouse darkness. We stopped by Wolfgang's Steakhouse for a Happy Hour dinner on a Wednesday evening. We were seated immediately at a nice table in the bar area and our server, Lloyd S, was extremely friendly, courteous and attentive. Wolfgang's is an upper scale dining establishment in a huge shopping mall and the decor reflects that description. My wife had a glass of Chardonnay and the Ahi tartar while I had a draft beer and the steak medallions. The presentation on both was very good. We enjoyed our meal and the accompanying basket of chips. The Happy Hour prices were great, especially for a Waikiki restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Wolfgang's. read more

tried this place out bc my baby brother was turning 18 and he is a steak fiend. this was his kind of restaurant. best to go with lots of meat-lovers, though not impossible if one of your party prefers something else (my mom had the salmon and said it was yummy). my bro, dad and i shared a steak for 3. it was a TON of meat. we also got a ridiculous amount of sides. def get the german potatoes! i say pass on the lobster mac and cheese. not enough lobster! all and all, this is a good place to go if you're celebrating a special occasion, if you have a monster appetite and if someone else is footing the bill. ;) read more

So I am the connoisseur of COW aka red meat and have been to a fair share of steak houses and this one ranks very highly. I went here for the first time for my birthday a couple months ago and had a very enjoyable time. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and helpful. They took the time to answer all our questions. We started the meal off with the mozzarella tomato and basil appetizer. That was really good cause it was light and a great start to our meal. Then was told we HAD TO TRY the BACON..Now this is no regular bacon it is a THICK slab of bacon. The waiter wasn't joking. One was just right for the two of us. It was the best tasting bacon ever (btw- I love bacon!!). On a side note, I really wanted their homemade and fried potato bar chips (usually served only when you are at the bar) I had to beg for those things as if you ever had them you would love and crave them too. I am not sure why it isn't on the regular menu. WOLFGANG if you are reading this I am sure I speak for the masses please offer that on the restaurant side as well as it is sooo yummy. Had a reservation for 2 at 2:30 on Christmas Day. Seated after a short wait. Very busy. It has been a tradition on holidays and occasionally on special events. Not real smooth service when seated, took a while to get the wine list. Each ordered an app. One was served and the other a full 5 minutes later after 2 requests to the server. Wine service was prompt, but the server struggled to uncork the bottle. Each ordered an entree, one arrived after a while, the other another full 5 minutes later. Veal chop was excellent, lobster tail over cooked and chewy. As we completed dinner the room we were in was emptying. The waitstaff very loudly started trading war stories while there were three tables finishing their meal. For $350+ a really disappointing experience. We saw great advertisements for the steakhouse. But when we went it was super crowded and the service was terrible. It was a long time before a waiter noticed us, and I had to ask for a napkin and silverware. I ordered a filet minion well done, and when it came it was rubbery. I have eaten in the best restaurants in the country and have never had a filet this rank. So when the waiter (one of three who waited on us because they were short handed) asked how it was I said fair. That was fine, because he'd asked me. Yet, I intended to make due and eat around the chewy parts, because I never complain, then the owner (or manager) came up, miffed, and said he'd heard I wasn't happy with the filet. His comment was, "Well, that's what you get for ordering it well done." To which I defended, " it wasn't even well done it was medium well done." Besides, I had always ordered my filet well done and had never had it rubbery before. So, he snapped up my dish and that was that. I had no more supper. In his defense he took the filet off the tab, he must have seen the rubbery parts I had deposited on plate because I couldn't chew them. But I was insulted all the same. 193/365 Overall, a 3.5. Came here for a valentines dinner with my boyfriend and was pretty packed. Our reservation was for 9 but when we got there around 830 they were able to seat us early. We were seated in the back room where it was set for couple. The tables were pretty close to each other so it felt kind of awkward when another table's dishes came and other waiting tables would be looking at them...haha. The complimentary bread was a french bread and another type of sweet bread that was soft and I preferred that one better. We got their prefix valentines day dinner meal for 2 that was $104+tax. It came with a choice of salad. My bf got the ceasar and I got their mixed greens. For the entree it came with a porterhouse to share along with two sides to share, it was mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Finally, for dessert, it was a chef's special chocolate delight. My bf also ordered their crab cakes for an app, it was $22+. Food came out in a reasonable time. The salad dressing was okay, it was a creamy type of dressing and it wasnt anything too special. The crab cake was also pretty good and very meaty with crab and no filers. It also came alongside the same mixed green salad and dressing and a dish of tartar sauce on the side. When our steak came it was sizzling hot and looked a tad bit smaller than the ones that the tables near us had. Our side dishes came and instead of mashed potatoes like the menu said, we got rice. I was going to say that we didnt ask to switch for rice but I think I overheard the waitress tell the couple near us that they didnt have anymore mashed potatoes so they would sub it for rice. Knowing this, I thought it was kind of rude that they didn't tell us about the switch because I was expecting some good ol mashed potatoes. Oh well, the steak was cooked to a perfect medium and came on a sizzling hot plate and nicely pre-cut. The steak itself was super tender but it did lack some flavor (just a simple sprinkling of a bit more salt would have done) IMO. The creamed spinach was pretty good and tasted like it may have been cooked in coconut milk or something because it was a bit sweet. Their dessert, the chocolate delight was also pretty tasty, it was like a chocolate souffle with some kind of cream filling and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and strawberry syrup. I have read the somewhat uneven reviews of Wolfgang's but I can only speak to my own experience, and my experience was wonderful. I came here with my boyfriend for my birthday. We made the reservation on OpenTable, and noted that it was my 25th. When we walked in we were greeted by name- impressive- and they wished me a happy birthday. Our server was awesome. He was very professional yet friendly, and he didn't try to upsell us into more food than we needed. He told us that the portions were fairly generous, and that if we were planning on getting multiple courses we could easily share, and they would happily split the food for us. We had the caprese salad, which was delicious. The mozzarella was very fresh and had that lovely mild flavor, and the tomatoes tasted fresh as well. For our entree, we split the filet with a side of asparagus. The steak was amazing. I finally understand what people mean when they say a steak had melt-in-your-mouth texture. It was like butter. Flavorful and so so tender. The asparagus was nothing special, but it was nicely cooked. I obsessively cherished every last bite of steak. If you're really hungry, don't split the entree. I could have easily eaten that entire delicious filet myself. They brought a birthday dessert on the house, which I always appreciate. I should note that if you're looking for a really romantic setting, this might not be it. The layout is very open. We were lucky to be seated next to the floor to ceiling window, so we had some privacy, but it is just one big room so if you're in the middle I might find it a little impersonal. Service was excellent. Dishes were cleared immediately, drinks refilled promptly, and someone was always nearby to check on us. It was an older man and you can hear his dirty perverted comments and conversation he was having with his friends or "regulars" who were sitting next to us. During a non busy Sunday lunch, 5/23, we went for the "burger lunch special" to experience TERRIBLE SERVICE. We waited more than :30 for our bugers to arrive. Did i mention burgers to arrive? The restaurant was maybe half full.The waitress never gave us refills on our drinks, never once asked us how our food was, never asked if we were interested in dessert. Waitress probably smiled ahhhh that's right she never smiled once. The food is barely ok but was quickly drowned out by the NO service. Spoke with the manager & all he could offer was some "free" dessert. Are you kidding me? Oh yeah, our left over food that we requested "take out" was probably thrown out because we waited over :15 for our take out to arrive only to find out the half burger was not even ours. My husband and I decided on this restaurant for our Thanksgiving dinner. We expected to have a pleasant experience with great food and ambiance. We were disappointed overall. This restaurant is like many in Honolulu with regards to service as it is below the expected standards for fine dining. My husband made reservations in ensure our seating and we arrived on time. We were checked in and were told to wait outside. After 25 minutes, we noticed that several people who came in after us were seated. When my husband checked with the hostess on our status, he was told that our table was given away to another party. None of the many hostesses had come outside to call on us. They all seemed confused with the large crowd. It was not a great first impression. After being seated, the server asked us for our order. My husband had to remind him that we were lacking menus. Another faux pas. We decided on the Thanksgiving special. After submitting our order, our appetizers and drinks were promptly delivered. However, our main course was delayed for over an hour. The server kept apologizing for the delay to appease us. When our main course finally arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the amount and quality of food. The meal was delicious and somewhat worth the wait. Our server informed us that our wine would be on the house due to our extended wait time. We were impressed by the gesture. This restaurant gives the impression of providing a fine dining experience, but it fails in reality. The food is good but the service has a great deal of room for improvement. The tourists seem to attract better service than locals such as us. When we decide on a higher end restaurant and pay the price to do so, we expect better service with more attention to detail. Our overall impression is not a good one and we will not be returning to Wolfgang's Steakhouse. Instead we will have our future steakhouse experiences at either Ruth Chris' or BLT. In my humble opinion, I must say that Wolfgang's is the best steakhouse in Hawaii. I'm pretty sure that this is the only place that serves dry aged steaks and you could actually tell the difference. My T-Bone steak was how I liked it (big, thick , juicy) the creamed spinach was good and the canadian bacon was awesome.. I've heard that the mac n' cheese with lobster is good so I will order that the next time. The service was top knotch, the waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable and made sure that everything was going well. There was a great selection of wine and the atmosphere was a bit noisy but tolerable. My overrall experience was a very good one and I've been to many steak places before and would list Wolfgang's amongst my top 5 read more

Although this place is at the high end of my budget it was well worth every single penny. We were treated well from the time we entered to the time we walked out the door. My children (5yo and 2yo) was even treated with the same respect! I did not feel that my family wasn't welcomed at any point! To top it all off the food was delicious! LOVE this place. They age their own beef here. I was lucky enough to have a tour and went into the beef aging room during their grand opening. The porterhouse is delicious and tender. Most people come here for dinner but what I really want to talk about is lunch. It's about $20 per person. Their burgers are about $15 and the servings are mammoth with giant onion rings. I recommend getting the Beverly Hills Chop salad and a side of their bacon. That bacon is magic -- it is a must try. I would finish lunch with some coffee because you'll need that to fight off that food coma. Try the lunch here, its definitely worth it and its also great for business meetings. read more

Upon arrival and entering dining room was more or less yelled at by the Manager to stay on the rug runner. How can I get to my table and stay on the runner. THE BIG SURPRISE... DO NOT ORDER HAPPY HOUR DRINKS from your dining table. We were given menus with Happy Hour prices until 7:30 pm, so I ordered a $7 Martini. WTF.....to my surprise when the bill came we were charged over $12 each. When we called the Manager over he said that Happy Hour Prices are only valid at the Bar. OK, fine, I understand, BUT THEN WHY DID YOU GIVE ME A MENU THAT STATES HAPPY HOUR PRICES, WHEN NO MENTION OF "AT THE BAR ONLY"? Great customer service (NOT) when he would not offer to remove $10 from our bill to make a good customer service gesture and save a Valentine Dinner. When we ask him why they are giving menus to people at the tables if the prices are not valid, he just said he would look into it and bring it up. Go here for lunch. They have great $10 lunch specials, and they don't skimp out on what they serve you either. I had the wolf burger and I left feeling pretty satisfied. The burger was delicious alongside the fries & onion rings it came with. I'm not a fan of cheese on my burgers but you can add on cheese for I think it was $2 more. But the special includes other choices like mahimahi fish n chips, a mahi mahi sandwich, and salads, which my friends said all were delicious as well. hands down best happy hour in honolulu. we came in from the beach all sandy and wearing bathing suits under our beach attire. we were way underdressed, but the staff still made us feel at home, they started us out on homemade chips and steak sauce, sooo good. we also had the happy hour kabobs, pork sliders, and lobster crustini. all so good but the kabobs were to die for. our bartender made the best cosmo. first he muddled the lime, made all the difference. all in all the wait staff made us feel at home, the food was soo darned good, and the price was reasonable. I had heard a lot of good reviews about this place so I was genuinely excited to try it out. Sadly the service and food were both terribly underwhelming. The food was overpriced for a mediocre steak with zero flavor. I can understand paying a little extra for ambience, but the restaurant seemed to lack that as well. 3 for 3! Third time I have been here in last 2 years where our appetizers came out after the steak. Sorry, but that is unacceptable! This should not happen at this type of establishment, and would not have happened all 3 times, if: 1. Waiter put in steak order after appetizers were delivered. 2. Waiter wasn't in such a rush to turn tables. 3. Checked on us if we had got the appetizers. No apologies, no compensation (not looking for a free meal) , but at least take off the appetizers from our bill. I finally felt like this needed to be addressed. I called 3-4 days in a row, got the same response "managers are busy!" Finally, I got in touch with a manager, and explained to him about this situation. Manager was apologetic. I was offered to find my receipt and they will refund the appetizers. Well I can't find my receipt. Anyways, I get the feeling as long as tourism is doing well in waikiki, the management probably could give a rats a--! In conclusion, i will not be back, and the 10 different guests I have taken there most likely won't be back too. Kefes! read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Okay, enough of the shouty capitals. We went here for a dinner with a large group to send off one of our fellow employees. After reading all of the reviews on Yelp, we were really excited to go here, especially since it would be the first big night on the town after our son was born. Our waiter was inattentive at best. He ignored our side of the table, taking orders for appetizers from our friends but never asking anyone on our side of the table if we wanted anything. He seemed annoyed when taking our dinner order when one of our party started asking questions about the entrees. My wine glass sat empty for at least 20 minutes until I could flag him down. My wife and I ordered the steak for two. I must say that I was expecting a little more than a large T-bone for $105. Everything was a la carte as well, so that was just for the meat. I don't mind dropping some coin as long as the food and service is good, but this place isn't worth it. It seems that their "secret aging" process involves, salt, butter, and salted butter. I thought the steak was gross, I could have made something better at home. The lobster mac n cheese was okay, but tasted just like the one I got at Ruby Tuesdays. The worst part of the evening came when we wanted to pay and leave. I know normally for a large party a restaurant won't split the bill. The waitstaff was nice enough to split it for us, since one couple had to leave early to pick up their child. Unfortunately this took forever. Each couple got their bill one at a time...this took nearly an HOUR. You've got to be kidding me. When we asked our waiter, Leo, about it he snapped back that he "was working on it," but he was "busy." He also muttered that he was "stressed out." Really, you were stressed out working at a restaurant? Too bad the people you were serving get shot at and blown up for a living. No sympathy here, buddy. Their lobster mac and cheese is TO DIE FOR! I went here for happy hour and thought it was such a great deal. They had Beef Carpaccio and Ahi Carpaccio on a little baguette and it was delicious. They also had great burger sliders with delicious homemade fries and their beef skewers were also great. I've eaten here for dinner and thought it was just OK for the price so I would probably choose another steak place over this place, but I would definitely come back here for happy hour! read more

there is a new steakhouse in town and its in the heart of waikiki. had a chance to go there for dinner last night and the food was above average. standouts on the menu were the thick cut bacon, little neck clams, the steak for three (since there was three of us) and creamed spinach. we were too full to order desserts but the chocolate mousse cake looked delish when it went by our table. they also have a good selection of wine but i did not have any. * this is a fine dining restaurant but according to the general manager there's no dress code (being the restaurant is located in waikiki) * look to spend upwards to $80 per person on a meal (does not included any drinks) *the restaurant is currently serving dinner but lunch service will follow at the end of the month. read more

I have been to Wolfgang a bunch of times but mainly for happy hour! They have in my opinion, one of the best happy hours in Waikiki. Price wise it may not be the cheapest happy hour, but value wise you can't do much better. First off, happy hour runs from 11am till 6:30. Draft beers are $5 (not including Guinness) and wines are $7, you also get a basket of their homemade chips. The happy hour food menu is what's great. This most recent time that I went in to visit they now have a $10 seafood sampler which includes ahi tartar, a crab salad and a lobster salad all on crostinis. Those were okay but I doubt I would order it again. The thing I like the most on the menu is the steak sandwich, it comes with a French style loaf with chunks of beef made to order and a plateful of fries all for $7. The chewiness of the bun and the tenderness of the steak go perfectly. The slices or more like chunks of steak are perfectly seasoned. They also have a steak combo on their menu for under $40. I've tried it once and it's a WHOLE lot of food. I couldn't imagine eating that by myself. The combo comes with a sizeable steak, mash potatoes, creamed spinach and a dessert. The spinach and potatoes probably have a stick of butter but are soooo good! I have also had dinner here but the happy hour combo is the best deal.
