Went to Hawaii recently and decided to try this restaurant for date night. We made reservations for 730 and there was a decent amount of people waiting to be seated. We were able to get a window seat table, and I really enjoyed the ambiance and being able to look outside at the busy shoppers. We ordered the lamb chops, New York steak with lobster Mac & creamed spinach. The food looked appealing and cooked perfectly. I feel that the lobster Mac and NY steak both lacked flavor, but they were cooked to our preference. The lamb chops were amazing as well as their famous creamed spinach. Wolfgang Steakhouse is located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki. We decided to dine here since none of us had dined here before. We did hear it was amongst the best steakhouses in Honolulu and yes, this place lived up to its hype! This restaurant is very beautiful, located on the 4th floor on the Diamond Head Side of the Royal Hawaiian. It is classy, but yet a casual feel to the place. Service was exceptional! There are outdoor seating and bar seating with flat screen TV's. This is a beautiful place to hangout at the bar or dine with friends. We started with cocktails and moved on to our salads, all which were very delicious starters! I ordered the Rib-Eye while the girls ordered Filet Mignons. The Rib-Eye was very tender and juicy! The Filet Mignons were a little over cooked, but the restaurant made up for it during desserts. Our steaks were complimented by a wide array of side dishes, including Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus, Sauteed Mushrooms and a generously sized Crab Cake that we all shared! For dessert, we were complimented with a slice of Chocolate and Cheesecake. :D Our waiters were very accommodating, energetic, lively and entertaining, which made our dining experience memorable. This is another steakhouse in Waikiki. We thought we would try as our first time for our anniversary dinner. I had made our reservations online and then called to ask for a nice table for our anniversary. I was told the night we were coming (4/16 Sat.) was going to be busy so he couldn't take the request for a nice table, then I asked about a table inside then, (they have outside seating) that he said was able to accommodate. Parking is in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. They validate $10.00 and we paid the remainder. Not sure this is fair considering we paid $600.00 with tip after all is said and done. Couldn't they validate the whole thing? We were seated inside, but not in the main dining room. It was off to the side past the bathrooms. A smaller room that has about 8 tables. The table we were sat at was uneven and small. I had to place my foot on the bottom so it would stop moving around. The chairs seemed to slide under me every time I moved around because the floor was slippery. Not the most comfortable chairs. We had ordered French onion soup, crab cakes, steak for 2, onion rings, 3.5 lb. lobster, sautéed mushrooms, and German potatoes. French onion soup is no where near the size they serve at Hy's. It was good, but no onions, plenty of cheese and a small piece of bread on top. The steak and lobster were excellent. They brought out the lobster before they served it to show my husband how big it really was. Lots of meat! The steak came out sizzling. It was soft, but not the best I have ever had. We took a lot home and still haven't eaten the leftover. I had asked our waitress Alex about a after dinner coffee, like Irish coffee. She didn't know what I was asking for, but her assistant seemed to know what I wanted and went to get it for me. It was brought to me with no cream, which made it pretty hard to drink for me. I gave up and left half at the table when we left. Service was good. Everything was brought out quickly, a little too quickly I think. I knew it was going to be expensive, the lobster was $169.00 so no doubt the bill was going to be big. I took off one star because I was not thrilled with our table and I took off another because there is no dress code here! My daughter, husband and I made sure to look nice and dress accordingly. As we were eating I don't know how many people they seated with either white undershirt type t-shirts, crocs, denim short shorts on one girl, and shorts on men. I think if you charge those prices, the least you can do is ask men to wear a collared shirt, and women please no denim short shorts that ride up your butt while I'm eating my $200.00 steak! This is definitely a issue with me as Hy's has no problem turning away customers who have not the right type of clothing on. This had definitely turned me off for returning here. I mean, your restaurant is situated in a huge shopping mall, is it too hard for the men and ladies to go find something appropriate to wear in all these shops? Also, be aware no matter how full, or how drunk you walk out, you still have to huff it back to your car in the middle of the shopping center. Unless your visiting, you have to walk back to your hotel. I'm liking the valet that has your car waiting for you at Hy's. This was exciting for us, as we were trying this place for the first time, but I think we may have to stick with our old favorites as a place for celebrating, and paying very expensive prices for meat and wine. read more

Valentines day dinner! Really lucky to get a reservation same day. Place was packed but not uncomfortable...our table for two was great. Food was fantastic. Had the porterhouse for two..usually I hesitate on large steaks as my fear is its not consistent. Well it was..really, really good. Period. Atmosphere was great, food was great, ...and the best part was our server Ryan. A true gentlemen and very accomodating. Right off the bat, the staff was great. Our servers, the host, everyone was really knowledgeable, friendly, and provided top notch service. We popped in around 8:45pm one night and the place was deserted. They closed at 11pm this particular evening. Should have been our red flag. I ordered the Porterhouse in Mid-Rare which was over $130 Another member ordered the NY Strip which was around $70 Another ordered a fish of the day dish which they really enjoyed, around $50 These are typical for high end steakhouses. When the food came out, it came on Denny's diner looking platters, it was extremely sloppy and looked nothing of what you'd anticipate in an eatery claiming to be of this stature. Our porterhouse was slightly overdone and was medium verging on medium well. The german house potatoes looked terrible. Take potatoes, slice them up, throw them on a skillet for 30mins without touching them, and serve. All of this, not a huge issue, I am here for the beef, not the looks. I bit into the USDA Prime Dry Aged porterhouse and was immediately disappointed. It was not tender to the tooth as you would expect, it had little beefy umami, and was nearly flavorless. Maybe the kitchen ran out of salt, certainly it had no pepper or maybe a little seasoned herb-butter on the side--nothing? We had to eat it with the bottled house steak-sauce, which tasted like cocktail sauce mixed with A1, surprisingly it went well with the steak but I couldn't get over the fact that this Prime cut of dry aged beef at this "world renowned" steakhouse was so chewy, bland, yet commanded these prices. The meal looked so sad and inexcusable I didn't even take a picture to remind myself that I just dropped $100+ per person for a mediocre meal. After reflecting on the food itself, factoring in the price point and expectations, this has been one of my worst meals in Hawaii from my 10 years of traveling to the islands. No, it wasn't the worst food I've ever had, but I've had better steaks out of the food court in Ala Moana. read more

First of all, the food is very good. However, it is the most outrageously priced restaurant we have ever been in. My husband and I travel all over the world and price is never a factor for us at high end restaurants. However, paying $120 for a Filet Mignon is ridiculous. That doesn't include any sides. The restaurant is located in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. You're immediately greeted by a hostess as you walk in. There are seats for people waiting for a table off to the side. You can dine at the bar or get a table. They can accommodate large parties but I do recommend you make reservations if you have a large party. Wait times during lunch over the weekends can get long so be prepared to wait but you can have a drink at the bar while you wait. Highly recommended! I decided to review this place after coming here for both dinner and lunch. This would give a fair assessment of the restaurant. During dinner, we dined at a table and during lunch we ate at the bar. We had a large party over dinner so we got a good sample of the menu. Service was good during dinner but the service at lunch from our bartender was exceptional! Football playing on the big screen also made the lunch more entertaining. The people around us was also friendly so that added to the experience. This is a steakhouse in Waikiki so expect to spend a little more to have dinner here. It's comparable in price to other good steakhouses in Hawaii. They do have a lunch special that runs daily which have items that are very budget friendly. Steak here is legit and you can't go wrong ordering it. This is my go to place in Waikiki. I go the first night I arrive, and my last night on the island. The steak is world class, consistent, perfection. I sit at the bar and order the Taste of NY Steak dinner, medium rare. The aged steak is cooked perfectly over high heat to seal in the juices. It arrives sizzling and sliced, carved from the bone. Comes with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. The menu says creamed spinach but it's more like sauteed, which I prefer because its not as rich, and the serving size of both sides is just right for one person. Dessert is also included - a small slice of NY cheesecake. At first glance it looks really small, but when you taste it, you realize that with a cheesecake this creamy and rich, this is the perfect size and a sweet ending to a fabulous meal. Bartenders are super busy here because this place is always hopping, yett they are attentive and never pushy. I've gotten to know several over the years and while they don't remember my name, totally understood, there is always an acknowledgement and a greeting welcoming me back. Last time I was there, the bartender called the owner over and introduced us. Wolfgang Zweiner us in the house! The Happy Hour is beyond incredible as HHs for anywhere, but especially for Waikiki. Lots of $7 items like a tenderloin kabob over rice, which is a full meal. Friends rave about steak and the beef sliders. Next time I will try the seafood combo for $10. They have beer on tap for $5, a martini for $7 and red or white wine for $7. As I've said before, for a Happy Hour to make me happy, I need a good glass of wine for a fair price - Wolfgangs meets this requirement. The Pinot Noir or Cab is an amazing deal at $7 a glass, rather than the $18 price when HH ends at 6:30. The Taste of NY Steak dinner is available anytime in the bar area. But now I arrive around 5:30 so I can get happy with the HH wine! Go. Don't be afraid of the line, it moves fast. You can park in garage next door and Wolfgangs will validate the first hour, then the remaining hours are just $2 per. This helps if you are not walking distance. Not sure why some reviewers give this 3 stars...for me, it's a solid 5 all the way. Valentine' dinner. Made reservation for a party of 2 and seated promptly. Our server was Lloyd (he was the one that took our orders) but we actually saw more of Roy, who was our busser (?)... The staff were certainly trying, but the food just sucked. It's supposedly dry aged, but it tasted like it had been cooked in motor oil. All our steaks came over cooked. I ordered the medium rare and got medium well! The filet was tough, dry, and full of gristle. The creamed spinach tasted like it came from a can. Their steak fries were extremely tough, like they didn't parboil it and just fried it to death to cook, but was still hard in the middle and not even crispy (I don't expect steak fries to be crispy, but not dry and hard) No one finished their steaks, and we had no desire to take the left overs home. We had reservations, but we're seated half an hour after our reservation. It was a wait to be served and then the food took 45 minutes to come out, and we had no refills on our drinks. However, it was Mother's Day, it was obvious they were short staffed and there were not enough servers for the amount of tables. I could see everyone hustling, but if you're going to charge this much for a steak, it needs to taste good, and should be staffed better. First time showing up it was full of empty tables and didn't want to seat 8.. weirrdd but anyways I reserved online the next day and tried it out. I came in with high hopes at tasting something different of a steak since it was so popular on yelp for the wakiki area but it was pretty mediocre. Food is 3/5 but the servers made up for the faults. They were all pretty nice and we were going to order plenty but the waiter reassured us that half was more than enough so that was nice. Appetizers came out quickly: Jumbo Lump Crab ... excellent with lots of lump crab ... not the deep fried ball you sometimes see Lobster Bisque ... the other soup was Boston clam chowder, which we weren't interested in, so they split the lobster bisque for us, nice touch. Timing between courses was a bit long, but I think I prefer that over bringing everything out too quickly. You would think since this place was "fine dining" that the expectations for the food would be amazing... very disappointing. My husband got a ribeye and I got fish of the day and it was just so flavorless. No seasoning whatsoever. The sides we had were lobster Mac, mashed potato's and broccoli. Omg the Mac and cheese literally had no flavor. Easy Mac taste better. We ordered the beef tomato and onions, we didn't realize that the word "beef" was not literal and it was just the kind of tomato. I think most people would not know that that was an actual kind of tomato. When it actually came there was no presentation at all. Just big slices of tomato and onions... really disappointing. It wasn't bad, just not off the charts. The part that annoyed my taste buds was the bread choice which was one for one hard but also a contrasting (in a bad way) flavor to the meat. It was totally not appropriate for the lobster meat. I think there was too much effort in making it look boutique and not much on how it actually tastes. I'm hurt. Although this is a lunch / happy hour special, I say dinner because it was close enough to the time in the early evening. The 4 course special is a 12oz NY sirloin that includes creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and a slice of Junior's cheesecake for $45 ($44.95). Score, right?! Each of our steaks were cooked the way we had requested and they were absolutely delicious! So flavorful and tender! YUM! I highly recommend jumping on this deal. When my wife and I were signing documents for the sale of our house late last week, the senior escrow officer started talking about food. It was, after all, right before lunch. In any case, he stated how he loves Mexican food and laments the fact Hawai'i doesn't have any good Mexican food options. He also said he loves burgers and told us about M&W as well as the $10 burgers at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Waikiki. Consider us intrigued. Fast forward to today, and my wife, another burger aficionado, decided we should try out this mythical $10 burger at Wolfgang's. In googling it and looking at Yelp, there was some mention of $10 burgers, but those posts were made 7 or 8 years ago. We went out there for lunch, anyway. First of all, expect white linen service when you dine at establishments like this one, so we weren't surprised by the level of attentiveness we received. Secondly, we also weren't surprised the clientele in this Waikiki joint looked to be composed mainly of tourists...the wife pointed out how she noticed, aside from the servers, she was the only haole dining there. Ha! Thirdly, and I didn't witness it but my wife did, don't be surprised (yet still be appalled) at inappropriate behavior by some of the Asian tourist (we presumed to be Japanese) dining there as one patted a waitress on her butt as he complemented her about her looks. I don't know if it was too much alcohol, cultural differences, poor upbringing or a combination of all the above, but it was still a bit of a shock to see. OK, back to the food. Our server, Candy, presented us the special lunch menu...and wham! There's the burger...albeit not $10 but $12.95 and it came with fries and onion rings. My wife of course ordered the 1/2 lb sirloin burger and I opted for the mahi mahi fish and chips. My wife liked her burger, that she ate open face style...reasoning it's a 1/2 lb burger...she would at least forgo some calories from the top half of the bun. OK. Even though my wife liked her burger, she kept thinking it fell short of her expectations...as it wasn't as good as a burger we had at Mooyah.
