I had hoped to get their Taste of New York 3-course deal ($50/person) - made my reservation for 6pm which is before the 6:30pm end time and asked for it in my Open Table reservation request, but when we arrived we were told it's not available. The advertisement said it is good 11am-6:30pm at bar or outside lanai seating. But celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary so went with the flow so not to spoil a special night. Ordered the Steak for Two and sides of Creamed Spinach and Lobster Mac n Cheese. The steak was generous T-bone steak aged to perfection - was $120 though! However was very very good. Creamed spinach was a bit bland but Lobster Mac n Cheese made up for it - very flavorful with big chunks of lobster. They were kind to give us complimentary dessert of cheesecake. Love the area they're located in third level Royal Hawaiian mall, which is gorgeous and open air, Wolfgang's is located in building C third level. Definitely call ahead for reservations! We walked in and waited to sit at the bar which we were lucky it only took about 5 minutes. We arrived right as happy hour (4pm-6:30pm) was closing and were able to get our appetizer plates at happy hour pricing which is awesome! We ordered the seafood combo plate which is lobster, crab and ahi crustinis! So good! We also ordered the tenderloin skewer which comes on top of white rice-the best ever! Let me start off by saying the wait staff and hosts are incredible and we're very attentive / social. If I could rate them separately I'd give them 5 stars. The food however was, for the price point, extremely disappointing. To start we had a caesar salad and the crab cakes which were fine. We ordered a tomahawk steak with lobster Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was subpar. The steak came out more rare than requested and lacked any kind of seasoning or flavor. The sides needed both salt and pepper and the sautéed mushrooms came out soggy and tasted like water. I would NOT recommend this place to any of my friends or family. $300 for steak and sides I could have made better at home, you'd be better off going to Ruth's Chris or Morton's and saving money too. read more

I've been to a handful of steakhouses over the years and finally got the chance to check out Wolfgang's located at the Royal Hawaiian Center. With tourism up, it's best to make a reservation via Open Table. Very convenient! We decided to order sliced beefsteak tomato and onion, ribeye, NY sirloin steak, German potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms. You're probably wondering, a tomato and onion salad? Yes, it really is a slice of tomato and onion. One of our servers, Seki, suggested we get a side of the Canadian bacon and eat it with the tomato and onion with steak sauce. Omg...his recommendation was on point! it was pretty good. I got the sirloin steak and it was on a sizzling platter already sliced. The steak with the German potatoes and the sautéed mushrooms was mouth watering. Not to mention having a whiskey ginger to wet my palette. Lol. For dessert, got the mango sherbet. Delicious!! We dined at Morton's last night while on vacation here in Waikiki from Las Vegas. Morton's is a completely wonderful dining experience; from parking to dessert. Now to our experience at Wolfgangs: greeted by unfriendly trio of girls when we ch caked on our reservation. Next we are seated at a table for our party of six. The waiter was satisfactory, the busboy or back end waiter was really exceptional , so far our experience is okay. Don't like our table , but we are a party of six, and they look busy. Now we order and our appetizer seafood platter comes out with two shrimp, a half tiny lobster , and some lump crabmeat . Two small pieces of lemon, cocktail sauce. The waiter said we were going to get oysters as well and menu stated it as well , but no oysters. Our steaks and sides come out and we dive in. Bland, bland bland.... no seasoning on anything. Steaks are mediocre at best... Host was extremely surly and rude after he came over to our table I suppose to investigate the conversation between my son's girlfriend and the waiter. She wanted her filet more Medium/ well and host interrupted with snide condescending comments. We thought we were dining at Wolfgang Puck restaurant when we made the reservation , boy I wish we had seen the fine print where it said "Zweiners". Never going back again. Service is always good here. From the hostess to the servers. This review is specifically for my trip for my dads birthday. The server noticed I wasn't eating my steak, and asked me if it was ok. When I told him it was a little too bloody for me he took it back to the kitchen and had it cooked a little more for me. Same thing has happened before, where the steak was too salty for me and the server took it back and came out with a new steak, unsalted. A+ service! Like I said earlier, we came for my dads birthday. Before we sat down I completely forgot that the Wolfgang staff sings to you if it's your birthday. We ordered a tomahawk steak, filet minion, salmon, steak fries, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and a Caesar's salad. We waited a long time for our food (40 min approx.) Our tomahawk (1/2 medium-well and half medium rare) and filet minion (medium well). Let's just say after waiting all that time, once we cut into both steaks---the middle looked like the cow was still alive. We showed our waiter and he apologetically took both back to the kitchen. Twenty minutes later, the runner brought back both plates of meat. Both looked like they were cooked well on the outside. The filet minion was cooked to medium well....however, the ($205) tomahawk still was raw. I lost my appetite by this time. The manager never came out to apologize. They did remove the tomahawk charge.... Final bill $224. Not worth it. Strong disappointment. read more

One star - I expected quite a bit more, bland veil steak, rushed and inconsiderate service. entire party stated that the food was not exceptional or flavorful. I attended a wedding reception on 4/24/21 and was greeted after some expected delay at the hostess stand in a good manner. They escorted me to the private room and we did enjoy some appetizers as we waited for the entire party to arrive. The servers were extremely hurried, and delivered the main course in a rude and disrespectful method of calling out loudly "who has the steak...steak here!?!?" It resembled McDonalds takeout. This also was occurring as the Preacher provided the invocation and blessing of the meals - and despite two of us telling the wait staff to be respectful and pause during the blessing, they continued calling out and talking loudly as they dropped the food on the table during our blessing. The food itself presented no flavor, and my friends steak tasted as if it had refrigerator or freezer burn. Another friend gave me a bite of his Porterhouse that tasted foul, as if it was spoiled. We sent that one back, and got another that was super overcooked and tough. The sides of mushrooms and asparagus were equally unflavorful, and unremarkable. I will say the lobster Mac and Cheese was pretty good - but I can make Mac and Cheese for $1 or less at a campground, in a dirty skillet. Mac n Cheese isn't bragging rights for a chef in a high end Steakhouse. For a chain, aspiring to compete with Ruth's Chris or other high end restaurants in Honolulu - I'd rate them as a Jack n The Box or McDonalds in the meat department. The staff needs to be educated on how to properly ASK the customers "Sir...may I take your plate?" "Could I recommend a place to clear for your entre'? "Is the quality of your meal up to everyone's expectations?"...and be sincere about it. Don't DROP the meals in our laps, call out randomly which plate is in your hands, and maybe even write down the orders so that it appears you know which person ordered which meal? Wolfgang is serving breakfast now! Their breakfast is start from 7AM. We were going to Island Vintage for dine in but the wait seems to be an hour long so we decide to try Wolfgang out (since no wait and so quiet). When we arrive around 8:30AM, the restaurant is empty except for one table sitting outside. Then people slowly coming in. They do parking validation in the front. I ordered their crab cake Benedict with rosemary potato and an ice coffee (server said they use Illy Coffee brand). The coffee has strong taste. To me, the food has little too much seasoning. Especially the crab cake and potato, too salty for me. But I guess the good thing is they use real crab meat since there is tiny pieces of crab shell in the meat. Service wise, so so. The server only appear twice: to order and gave us the check. And never check on us during our meal. In fact, none of them check on us except the buser who bring out the food and ask once if everything was okay. But he forgot about the Ketchup we wanted for the potato. Not even the manager came and ask if food was okay. After we sat down, the server ask right away what we want for drink, not even gave us some time to look at the menu first. Would I go back? No, one time try is good enough. I know they are famous for their steak, but there are many places that offer good steak with better service. We had a solid experience at Wolfgang's. Of course this is a steakhouse with plenty of surf and turf options of the high-quality variety. As many of my followers know I eat vegan and got the chop salad which I found very interesting and tasty. My wife is not as big a fan but I like the mixture of iceberg lettuce, Romain lettuce, corn, peas, strawberries, cucumbers, and various other things mixed in with a vinaigrette. I also got a big potato as my meal. There are many other side dishes that would qualify as a decent meal Including the German potatoes and other options. The service was high-quality and the ambience was comfortable. I recommend coming in the off hours if you don't want to make reservations and/or don't want a crowd. Overall it was a decent experience and I will go back and perhaps try out the bar menu which is from what I hear a decent deal and if I had to go with some meat loving friends the vegetarian options are suitable for a McDougall style meal. read more

Asparagus: 3/5 cooked to perfection but no flavor on its own, must have it with the sauce. Ribeye: 3.5/5 not horrible,but not great. I expected more for a $97 steak. I ordered medium and it was just overcooked. THE MOST AMAZING SERVICE. This is my favorite steakhouse, and it's definitely in my top 5. I always dine here when I visit Hawaii, which is very often. I am never disappointed with the service and the food is always excellent. I recommend them to everyone that visits and I will definitely continue to recommend them. The steak is always perfectly cooked and so tender! Lobster Mac and cheese is a real treat and their oysters taste so fresh! The drinks are really great and they have a great selection of alcohol. I also received a slice of cake for my birthday which was such a splendid surprise. I love that the hostess even made a mental note that it was my birthday and wished me well when I was leaving the restaurant. It's the little things! They remembered that my husband had a crab/lobster allergy and were very careful to separate the crab/lobster from anything else. We seriously appreciate when people remember that he has an allergy, and are extremely thankful when the extra mile is taken. We ordered the seafood tower, tomahawk, veal chop, creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes, lobster mac and cheese (which they placed the lobster on the side without us having to ask), and fried onion rings. For dessert we had cheesecake, creme brûlée, and side ice cream. Everything was so tasty and cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Tomahawks are hard to come by during COVID for some reason (other restaurants have taken it off the menu), and Wolfgang's did not disappoint at all. Amazing. The veal chop is a thick cut, not anything near the normal thin veal cut. It was like a veal steak haha. It was so delicious. When we asked for mashed potatoes are waiter asked if we wanted garlic mashed potatoes. I said last time we weren't even offered that and absolutely yes we need garlic in the potatoes haha. Fried onion rings are huge. Actually, all the portions here are huge. I highly recommend sharing everything! The service was great. We felt comfortable asking questions and never felt rushed, ignored, or awkward. We will definitely ask for Brandan next time! And thank you to Manny for the hospitality and for chatting with us even though it was such a busy weekend! Came here to celebrate our anniversary. First time here and we received excellent customer service from Paulo, staff was also attentive making sure our glasses were full! We started with the Caesar salad, then ordered the steak for two with mash potato and broccoli, which all came out in one time + served with professionalism - Paulo knew what he was doing and read my mind when he said "give me your phone and I'll take a picture of the two of you". I had the mini loco moco and had a bite from the NY meal on the happy hour menu (the steak was flavored decently, the mashed potatoes ridiculously creamy, and the creamed spinach buttery and delicious. And a lemon drop! The bar tender listened amazingly to my request for a less sweet drink; it was strong and perfect! The mini loco moco was exactly what it needed to be.
