Food at lunch was very good and fresh. Good selection. With large group and service was very attentive picking up dirty dishes quickly.

Today was my first time visiting Woochi. I am generally not a fan of buffets but this one was great. It was clean, the staff was helpful and the food was plentiful. There were many types of sushi and sashimi, various Chinese American style chicken (orange, sesame and sweet & sour) delicious soups and great sea food (crab legs, oysters And shrimp). They have a Mongolian grill in the back and a chocolate fountain with fruit and cakes. They have just about everything. I way overate and rolled out of the restaurant. Food was so-so. Nothing spectacular whatsoever. The teriyaki chicken on the little wooden skewers was so tough and chewy and almost impossible to get off the skewer. The hot and spicy chicken, which I assume was their version of General Tso chicken, was lackluster and contained minuscule pieces of chicken. Most of it was breading. The restaurant itself didn't seen very clean. It appeared the exterior windows hadn't been professionally cleaned in a long time and the glass doors leading inside the restaurant were full of fingerprints and smudging. The interior of the restaurant was very dated and felt like I was taking a step back into the 90's. Not to mention there was an annoying female customer one table over from mine who was on her cellphone with the speaker volume on high so practically everyone in the restaurant could hear her conversation. This was my very first experience eating here (and coincidentally it was my birthday) and can say I will not be back. read more

I read all the reviews and was on the fence about whether we should try WooChi or not. We decided to visit and stroll through the buffet before paying to see if we felt comfortable. When we arrived, it smelled fine, no hint of sewage smell as others have mentioned. From what we could tell it was definitely acceptable to us so we paid and got our table. We were happy to find that everything we tried was good! Flavors and textures were great. One of the better asian buffets we've been to. After this visit I can say my preference is WooChi over Lin's. I will say the crab legs are nothing to write home about. I LOVE crab, though I did expect the quality to only be so-so. Most legs had hardly any meat and on top of that, the "butter" seems to be some sort of butter-flavored oil, quite watery in consistency. I'll pass on those next time but if you are ambitious you could fill up on crab eventually I suppose lol. Other than the crab legs, I was very well pleased with all the other offerings. We have been going to WooChi for manny years but after the last few times we have decided never again! It is dirty from the minute you walk in! Windows need to be cleaned, old dirty signs hanging on front counter! Last night the floor was dirty and spilled food under many tables! Up at the buffet the serving areas were covered with spilled food! I did complain and it was met with no response at all! It is not hard to find a Chinese restaurant in the area so we will search for a new one! I personally think that a health inspector should visit! Can't imagine what the kitchen looks like! read more

Where do I even start?!!!? I'm visiting from Vegas and my dad brought me here (bless his heart). The second we walked in, I was thinking "why does this place smell like a stinky bathroom"?. They insist that you wear gloves, but I saw nobody (including workers) wearing gloves. I ate some chicken and it was sooooo dry, the sauces were runny like water and so disgusting. The worst part of all is I noticed their cookies are literally just sitting on a counter in their packaging and it's just grab them as you want. One of the finest Asian buffets I've been to which serves healthy portions of raw fish. No, I didn't get sick, only full! My uncle lives nearby and recommended this place. It was clean and orderly and the servers were pleasant folk. I must say it was the first place in the entire Mesa area besides In-N-Out where the service was exceptionally good and helpful. As far as Chinese Buffets go in the east valley, not many can come close to WooChi! The quality and selection of food - even at lunchtime, is worth every penny. Its hard to even include the super-fantastic Sushi selection since it is over and above the typical Chinese Buffet. It's actually hard to tell which they spend more effort on because they Sushi is excellent quality and freshly prepared. The unassuming location also makes this diamond in the rough a great choice. For true Buffet hounds who know not to over indulge in food you cannot possibly eat, this is a great value. If you are someone with a weak stomach, or have children who can't measure food - I suggest Golden Corral. In my 8+ visits the food has always been refreshed and appetizing. A tale of two sides: two couples with separate carryout orders with two entrees each. Ours with the Kung pao chicken and the broccoli beef were pretty middle of the road. Although the meat quality was good in both, the flavors were not really there in either - just tasted rather bland with no blending of flavors. The Kung pao was also 3/4 celery with a little bit of chicken, carrots and peanuts. Our friends beef lo mein and General Tso's chicken however were both tasty. Online ordering was easy ($0.99 service fee), but we placed order for a fixed time and we received the order ready notice 15 minutes ahead of time before we left to get it. I understand that woochi means #1 in Chinese, does this restaurant live up to that claim? On the surface it's an impressive place, huge by restaurant standards, and clean. It is divided roughly in half, with the buffet tables on one side and the dining area on the other. Both are contemporary and I would even venture to say upscale looking. We opted not to try the buffet but rather to order from the menu, which technically you can do, although we may have been the first customers to ever do that. Frankly it doesn't make sense not to use the buffet - at $13.99 for dinner it includes anything you could order from the menu and it's all you can eat. I think we confused the staff when we tried to order at our table. Everyone else was walking in and headed directly for the buffet. We sat down and waited for menus, and finally had to ask a confused staffer. Apparently when she got our order all she did was to go to the steam tables and scoop it onto a platter for us, but brought us no plates or bowls. The idea is you're supposed to get those yourself. As I said, while you can order off the menu they just don't seem to be set up to understand how to accommodate that. Next time I'll know better. As far as the food quality, we ordered Orange Chicken and Yunan Beef with Hot & Sour soup. The entrées were superb - almost all meat and among the higher quality main courses I've had at any Chinese restaurant (remember, I spent time in China). The soup didn't fare as well, it was okay but nowhere near as good as I've had anywhere else. Prices for ala carte are very low compared to most Chinese sit-down restaurants, as well they should be because all they're doing is scooping it out of an all-you-can eat buffet. But I'm okay with that. The chicken was about ten bucks and the beef was about eight bucks, and that includes a serving of rice. That's a lot of food for those prices. The quart of soup was under four bucks, a steal. The staff is friendly and helpful and as I say that I have to keep in mind that this is a buffet and I really shouldn't be rating them on "customer service" because that's not what the staff is trained to do. The employees we came in contact with have a very limited English vocabulary. Here's the thing that really impressed me. We left there at about 9 PM on a weekday, a half hour before they closed, and the steam tables at the buffet were fully and beautifully stocked. That is extremely rare at any buffet, where they start to pull the food after 6 PM and late diners usually have very slim pickings. The bottom line is that I don't mind saying that in many ways WooChi does earn a rating of #1 in their class of restaurant. Clean, good food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. We enjoy eating at Woochis ! The service is ok staff is always very friendly . The food is usually always good , fresh and quite a variety! So no problems, with food and the quality. However , I feel Woochis needs big Improvements on there cleanliness. To be honest it is quite poor. As you walk in the foyer area before you enter is absolutely filthy! Trash , leaves dirt ,papery items on the floor like it's never been swept. Windows , doors ,glass cases up by the cashier look so dirty . Even as you are eating, looking across at the walls they too all look so dirty. My sister dined with me today, for the first time at Woochis . We had a great time enjoyed our lunch, but both agreed it definitely needs some love and attention. Also when you enter , the restaurant doesn't SMELL good ! Like a combination of fish and rotten eggs. Been that way, the last couple times I have came , and just think with the BUISNESS Woochis does ,it should be addressed Positively! I'm amazed I got past the front door. It was so filthy I was afraid to touch it to open it. I don't think they've cleaned the windows and doors ever. They have paper signs taped on everything and they look torn and tattered and again, filthy. I don't think they have ever mopped the floor. They supposedly offer crab legs and they never brought any out the entire time we were there. I thought they had a good selection but nothing was marked correctly. Been a dozen times in 4 years. Has always had the horrendous smell upon entry. We chalk it up to seafood. At least we hoped. First two years we got the nasty looks from angry staff when we dared use the coupon that initially brought us there to try it. We have only been 3 times after covid times, staff still miserable. Hard to eat, feeling guilty 'are they forced to be there?' One nice male server this past weekend. Every other staff, ALWAYS female hostess, super bitter like she is doing you a favor. We return for the variety :( but past few years, pretty decor is now layered in funk. Hanging lights, walls, under tables, windows, ick. Food has always been generic buffet, ok taste, we go for variety. But yes, temps are never hot. I try to dig to the bottom for warm food. Would never trust cold food, any seafood buffet. We chuckle at the gamble people take with raw fish that has sat out for hours. If you like sushi, go get real sushi made to order at a sushi restaurant. The last time I had vibes like this, even after our last place shut down 3 times in 18 months for 'remodeling' we kept going, only to finally go on maricopa health services inspector sight. We found out why I 'imagined' things crawling on my feet under table. :/ not woochi, but another place finally closed down. Bottom line, if something seems off, follow your instincts. Look the place up, frequently. Save your trouble and $. Find another place. Though i do love a couple of woochi items, they need a full, heavy and frequent sanitization. Word of owners advice- figure out if that sushi bar brings in that much revenue. It might be costing you more customers than its worth (smell?) When I have gone here, I wonder if the staff is laughing in back knowing what we are actually eating. We had a large group of 20 into WooChi's for lunch yesterday and we weren't disappointed! The food was fresh and delicious! The place itself was spotless and couldn't believe how many choices we had! I particularly liked the boiled and fried shrimp! Cooked and presented to perfection! They had a dish of mushrooms, olives, onions in a vinaigrette that was tasty! The desserts were nothing special store bought cookies little cakes, puff pastry and fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate sauce! It didn't look appealing because only the bottom part of the fountain was working, however it tasted delicious! The staff worked hard and we couldn't be happier with our meal! read more

I visited this buffet on November 11 this year and it was not that good. My booth needed cleaning, floors were dirty and I wish that I would have noticed it before I started eating. Food was just ok. Food just was not very good. I would not recommend this place nor will I return. I wish that it was good because I live very close to it. The egg rolls were pretty good but what am I going to do, pay $16 for a bunch of egg rolls. There really was nothing else to say that it was pretty good. They should close down and clean the place a little better. Before you go up and start eating, look around the place to see if it's clean.
