One of the mini splits installed in my house.

I had two mini splits installed last Friday. It came early and just in time for the heatwave. Great customer service and installers were very professional and came on time and were out by 1 PM. Highly recommend Woods.Their pricing was much better for installation than other companies. If you read the reviews, I wouldn't pay attention to the negatives because that's just for oil prices.

Josh is responsive, thorough and does an amazing job of explaining complex and technical issues to someone without much understanding of how boilers and gas and utilities work. We trust him in helping us assess different options/costs and keeping our projects on track. He installed mini split AC system and oversaw a conversion from oil to natural gas in our older home. Would highly recommend!!

My business needed Propane exterior piping repaired due to a leak. I called several Plumbers in…read morethe area and none were bold enough to take on the job, causing me stress, aggravation, and time wasted. On top of that, this issue came during a time where the winter season had just changed, and this and other companies were backed up. After calling, Katie explained this to me, and explained that she would contact me back once a slot filled open. She did and a very professional team of two came and looked at the piping a few days later. They explained what they would be doing and went out and bought the tools they needed and repaired the pipe in a few hours. I also had some other unrelated piping issues and the tech was eager to take a look at it for me and attempted to help remedy the situation, and also said he would have his boss provide me with a quote. I will eventually call them again to take care of the other issues, because they were very professional and confident, unlike the 2 other contractors that came by. Great service! Will do business again.

RB Queern's proposal was clear and they spent time explaining why they chose the equipment outlined in their proposal. It was the most comprehensive of the 5 that I received. They had the best value in terms of total cost. They actually had the lowest bid. They reccomended an electrician for that portion of the work and they were prompt to respond and gave me a very solid bid compared to others. The installation took 3 days and I have to say that their technicians did nothing but a first class job. They were prompt, answered questions, took care of our house and cleaned up every day. They were a pleasure to have in your house. I would definitely recommend R B Queern for any time of HVAC work

I called R.B.Queern to come out to my house to tune-up my central AC system. My experience with…read morethem was both positive and negative. The PROS: The technicians were professional and friendly. During the 2 hours they worked, they were efficient and did not waste time. Because they charge by the hour ($165 per hour), this is important. The techs found an error in how the AC unit was installed, and they were able to fix it that day. Their fix prevented a big problem of water leaking into my ceiling. Also, when I reviewed the work order, I do not think I was over-charged for the parts they needed to fix my unit; the prices I was charged for the PVC parts seemed reasonable. The CONS: I was never told when I booked the appointment (as a new client) that they charge the travel time from when the tech leaves the previous job and drives to my house. As a result, I was charged $82.50 (30 min) for the tech to drive to my house from the previous job. This is an excessive charge. I understand that gasoline costs money, but to charge $165 per hour for travel time is too much. If they charged something like $30 per hour for travel time, that would be reasonable, and I would be leaving a 5 star review.

The advantage of the ductless (mini-splits) is that they are independently controlled and have a heat pump. Also, at this time National Grid is offering rebates for heat pumps. In the end, I was happy with the design of the system provided by Ocean State Air. I am extremely happy with the quality of the work, and the professionalism of the technicians. I felt that the response time of my contact at Ocean State Air was reasonable. Ocean State Air is also approved by National Grid/RISE for AC/Heat Pump installation. That means an approved company must do the install in order to qualify for rebates. Ocean State Air quickly provided me with all the paperwork needed by RISE to get the rebate. Because this company was slammed with work, I did have to wait my turn, where I started getting quotes in March and the work was complete the end of July. Again, they were slammed with work, so this shows how popular they are. Installing central AC in a pre-existing home is not cheap. Other quotes were comparable. Right now, I have no regrets, and look forward to using the heat pumps.

I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!
