Easy spot to grab a meal on the pier at Pismo Beach. Food is decent and they allow doggos on their patio seating. Parking? Ha! There is none! You'll have to park (and pay $4+) and walk. Parking around the pier in general is a mess. Very limited. We had a party of 6 + a pup and they brought pup a bowl of water! Honestly there's so many better places nearby, but we came for doggo-friendliness. 6/10 will return in a pinch. read more

We were excited to have some clam chowder and disappointed to find it super thick, like wallpaper paste, full of shell and sand, and just not very palatable. I couldn't even finish mine. Wooly's is your typical beach tourist trap. Nothing we had was fantastic, by any means. I would say with the exception of the lukewarm waffle fries, it was all very mediocre. They have a nice beachfront patio adjacent to the pier. The servers seemed pretty indifferent, and bothered when asked for anything telling us we can go get silverwear ourselves.... and they weren't even that busy. Wooly's is a great lunch spot with an ocean view. We went Saturday around noon, and although there was a line out the door, it moves really quick. We ordered at the counter and grabbed a seat. The food came out quickly despite it being crowded. We ordered the Kale Crunch Salad, Sweet Potato Fries, and Clam Chowder in a bread bowl. This was PLENTY of food and everything tasted so good. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy, the Kale Crunch Salad was loaded with texture and flavor, and the Clam Chowder was a perfect choice. Highly Recommend! read more

1st time at Pismo Beach and picked this spot to get lunch. We wanted to dine in but saw how busy it was, we decided to do a pick up. My son has food allergies and the bartender was able to direct me to the manager. He actually took my order amongst all the people waiting to make sure my order was safe for my sons consumption. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and it's not as plain or boring as it sounds. It had a mix of coleslaw but it wasn't sweet. The bread was perfectly toasted and the sweet potatoes fries were delicious. I ordered a couple of SLO Cali Squeeze to drink and the glasses were super cold and the beer was cold too. Surprisingly, the prices are pretty good for sitting on the beach. It does get fairly sunny at the end of the day so I moved inside. Yes they have umbrellas and as the sun sets there isn't much in the way of coverage. The birds aren't too big of a problem and they do allow pets. read more

Stopped by in July. Staff is great, bartenders were friendly as well. They were organizing the line to space people out and had good measures for the seating areas as well. Next to the beach and the pier, the place is great for people watching if that's your thing. I know I'm a fan. I had gotten a cobb salad and a number of drinks. Each time we come by we have to get at least one drunken sailor for memories as well as it being delish. The cobb salad was pretty good for the price beach side. I'd personally want more/different types of veggies to bolster it as a salad but the chicken was plentiful and the bleu cheese played well in the mix. Took a quick trip down to Pismo Beach for a quick one night getaway a few weeks ago. I found Wooly's using the always handy Yelp app and I liked that it was around the corner from the hotel I was staying at and right on the Pier. From the photos, I loved how their outdoor dining had a nice view of the beach and ocean through clear plexiglass sheets. After settling into my room, I was ready to eat and I queued up on their ramp leading to the hostess station. After about a 15 min wait, the hostess asked us if we were ordering to go or dining on their outdoor patio. The nice young lady confidently told us she can secure a table for us and showed us where to order at the multiple cashiers counter with clear instructions to keep our masks on until we had our food in front of our faces. I went with the Carne Asada Tacos and a cup of their Clam Chowder(both items were on the Pismo Favorites section of their menu). Washed it all down with a cold refreshing Stella, which was on tap. My food was simple but tasty and I could see why they were listed as menu favorites. On this day(September 7th), I have to shout out the hostess who was diligent, almost stern, with the customers entering her establishment that they need to wear a mask or they will not be allowed entrance. She played her multiple roles with authority, as a good hostess does. If we all are going to get through this pandemic, it's folks like her, that will have played a small but critical part in returning us to how things were or as close to it as possible. read more

I recently wanted to get away for a short trip away from my area and I decided to take a drive down to Pismo Beach. I did some research on Yelp before leaving, and I found Wooly's staring at me in the face. I loved that it was simple comfort food and that it was right by the beach. There was about a 15 minute wait in front of the hostess station to be assigned a seat. The way it works is once she assigns you a seat, you walk to the front counter and place your food and drink order there. They hand you a buzzer and then you return back to your table. This is where you can start enjoying the ocean sounds and smells. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and the Steamed Clams. Both of these were fresh, and delicious. I especially enjoyed the flavorful broth the steamed clams were swimming in. I have to call out the young lady who was the hostess on this day(Memorial Day around 5pm). She was friendly, organized and she made sure that anyone wanting to enter their restaurant had a mask on. She was firm but polite in what she needed everyone to do. The social distancing setup at Wooly's is the most efficient I've seen anywhere. Basically, you line up to order, then you go to another area to wait for your table to be ready. Like magic, our food and table were ready at the same time. On a Friday at 5:30 p.m., our total wait time from getting in line to eating was under 30 minutes. I've noticed many restaurants have inevitably lowered food quality during the pandemic, but not Wooly's. The fish in the Baja fish tacos was fried to perfection, the burger was flavorful and moist, and the kale crunch salad was full of tasty ingredients like juicy sliced mango and crunchy pepitas. The only item we didn't like was the clam chowder, which had an unfinished cream taste, although the buttery, garlic-rubbed sourdough bread bowl it came in was delicious. Wooly's did not disappoint. In the future, I don't think I'd willingly eat anywhere else while in Pismo Beach. read more

Ate here twice in my 3 day getaway. First time, my husband and I got the Baja fish tacos and seafood roll and both were so delicious and filling. Second time, we got a crispy chicken sandwich that we shared and the clam chowder fries. The chicken sandwich was so light and perfect. The clam chowder fries that we got wasn't close to the photos we saw on here and wish there was less chowder and cheese. I've been to Wooley's twice now and both times have been good experiences. As soon as you walk up there is a menu on a wall. You'll order at the register and then find a table to sit at. An employee will bring the food to you. This restaurant has a fantastic view of the pier and beach. You can sit inside/outside or at the bar which is both inside and outside as well. Jalapeno Poppers - $13 - (9pc) and it's served with red jalapeno jelly and ranch. I absolutely loved the red jalapeno jelly with it. This appetizer was delicious! Clam Chowder Bread Bowl - $12 - I really enjoyed their clam chowder and the bread bowl was delicious too! I really liked how the cap of the bread bowl was toasted with seasoning. It was delicious. I love places overlooking the ocean and this place is front and center. It's a chill, family friendly vibe. The food was ok. Their calamari is a thicker strip and I prefer the thinner calamari but it was fine. The nachos were a little dry. I guess that might be most places. I'll be on the hunt for the perfect nacho which is layered. I find most places just put everything ONLY on the top layer. The poppers were ok. I just ate a couple because they were just alright. We came to Pismo for several days. As you can see from the pictures that was on our first day to eat at the establishment. That wedge salad was so fantastic I decided to go back a couple days later for a repeat. Well the second wedge salad was disgusting!!!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself! I can't believe the chef allowed that wedge salad to leave the kitchen. He should be ashamed and disgusted to serve something like he did to me. They were the bottom end of the iceberg lettuce and they were completely brown wedges. There was hardly any stuff on the salad and the avocado was completely brown and gross. My husband took a couple looks and then eventually asked me how's the salad because he saw how horrible it looked. I know you're saying I should have sent it back but I don't dare send food back to the chef. If they can let that leave the kitchen and think that's okay can you imagine what they're going to do to my food when I tell them what they served me sucks!!!! We decided we will not be visiting this establishment again and it was one of our favorites. What a waste of money and disappointment for dinner tonight. It's unbelievable you screwed that up. I will also say the bartender was pissed that he had to take our order and he was rude as hell. Also, each time I had to clean the filthy table. Ordering quick, outdoor space and music nice. However, I was really disappointed in the food and service from the manager. Our Nacho Fries came to us with a chunk of paper in them...No worries, accidents happen. We talked to the manager (not knowing at the time) and she took them back for new ones. She then brought us New ones back...nope they were not new ones...she argued and lied that they were...we continued to tell her they were the exact same because I know where I pulled a missing fry AND there was still paper in them. I'm not upset about the paper...Again accidents happen. I'm really upset that the MANAGER took our food and brought us the exact same plate back and then lied to us telling us it was a new plate. Those fries should have gone right in the trash!!! Watch your food!! If somethings wrong I would not be surprised if you get the same plate back! read more

First timers for us. My wife and I enjoyed sitting at their bar facing Pismo Beach's ocean waves. Good thing we arrived around before it got too busy! I started with a savory spicy Bloody Mary while my wife enjoyed sipping on a 0 Heineken while chowing down on a delicious clam chowder bread bowl--very tasty my friends. The food that was literally being pumped out of their kitchen looked pretty damn good, too! If we didn't have to meet my son and his fam for pizza, we would have hung out longer and ordered more food! There is a nice wind-sheltered deck patio facing the ocean and a cool open cabana-like bar opposite from where we were sitting giving the place a very open feel.
